GOODBYE CRISTIANO RONALDO

Its official, CRISTIANO RONALDO gets transferred to Italian Club JUVENTUS FC for 105M€ (or 112M€ with commissions & extras). So its GOODBYE Cristiano Ronaldo & thanks for your 9 years in Spanish Football. Said this, its a relief, now we can move on to bigger & better things.

Real Madrid transfers to Juventus FC

The fact is, that there was no fan manifestations hailing Real Madrid President Perez to stop the transfer. Most ( not all ) have become tired of the Ronaldo antics & yearly ego-trips & demands (demands always given by the Club). Yes, everyone is grateful & thanks the opportunity to have witnessed such Football talent. Real Madrid fans will have to recognise that the last few UEFA Champions League titles are thanks to CR7 in great part. The Portuguese star has craved a place in Real Madrid History as one of the Clubs greatest players.

Said this Cristiano Ronaldo says farewell with only a letter... a solitary letter. Coward.

What was really needed was to face the press & show your face to explain to everyone why you have decided to leave the Club. The fans & supporters deserve at least an explanation. However, many are not surprised, again the character of Ronaldo shines through brightly me , only me & me again.

The "Goodbye Letter" transmits emotions & the desire to find new goals. Ronaldo admits he asked the Club to let him go & says thank you to everyone. This is the official line, the truth is that:
  • his legal tax problems locally - 15M€ due to the tax office - weight heavily,
  • the salary of Messi (40M€), Neymar (36M€) & Grizmann (23M€) outweight his of 21M€
This lead to a "mini revolt" that lead later to alleged promises that were broken by Club etc & etc. The lastest is that Real Madrid equalled the Juventus FC offer of 30M€... you make up your own opinion.
  • The possible coming of Neymar JR "hurt the ego". Ronaldo felt that his time was up as the most brightest star & that the possible coming of younger stars was not making him comfortable.
The truth, the real truth is that there is no single individual bigger than the Club. Real Madrid has members (paying members) as the true owners. This institution has survived more than 100 years & seen hundreds of Footballers , huge Stars, come & go. Cristiano Ronaldo will probably be surprised to see how Real Madrid continues operating the same or better after his exit.

So thanks & goodbye. Good luck with your next Club. Lets move onto newer & exiting developments in Spanish Football in coming days & weeks

UPDATE | CRISTIANO RONALDO TO LEAVE REAL MADRID

It´s the most talked about Football News piece in Spain, Italy & World Football; the almost certain transfer by REAL MADRID to JUVENTUS FC of star striker CRISTIANO RONALDO. The operation looks imminent, possibly within the next 24-36 hours, as Italian representatives are apparently flying to Madrid to shut the transfer for a reported possible "Saturday" presentation in Turin. However, this seems a bit premature.

REAL MADRID reconfirmed & yesterday again gave their "green light" to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus FC in a late night meeting in Madrid with player representative Jorge Mendes. The Spanish Club said "OK" to the 100M€ price tag with one condition only: that Ronaldo explain publicly his reasons for wanting to abandon Real Madrid. The Spanish Club has equalled the 30M€ / season salary by Juventus FC but the Portuguese star seems adamant to leave.

So what now is needed is for Juventus FC to formally present Real Madrid their 100M€ offer & Ronaldo to say yes, & give a press conference explaining his decision. In fact, there are news pieces showing the "new" Juventus playing shirt, his possible new mansion in Turin (Italy) & ex Juve President Moggi has claimed Ronaldo has already signed & passed medical exam in Munich days back.

CRISTIANO RONALDO TO LEAVE REAL MADRID

However, rumours locally through some Sports media claim that Ronaldo may be playing a "different card hand" & also sounding the opinion of Paris St Germain & Manchester United to see if they can better the Italian offer. If this is correct, then the Ronaldo argument that his desire to leave Real Madrid has not to do with money loses credibility. Plus if Ronaldo is "using" Juventus as a bargaining lever  this will be seen as "ugly". As mentioned they are currently local rumours doing the Sports media rounds.

Conclusion, the Football World & Italy in particular awaits the final signatures. As the popular saying goes: "Its not over until the Fat Lady sings". But given the current situation & barring a late minute change of mind, CRISTIANO RONALDO is more than half way out the door of Real Madrid, and the Spanish Club gives their OK.

Stay tuned!

CRISTIANO RONALDO TO LEAVE REAL MADRID

Spanish TV via "La Sexta" channel & its afternoon "Sports News" has confirmed that CRISTIANO RONALDO will be leaving REAL MADRID CF. This news complements Italian news sources that JUVENTUS has made an offer that it seems has been accepted by Real Madrid & thus opens the door for Ronaldo to play in "Serie A" next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid for Juventus FC

The details of the operation are the following; Juventus will pay Real Madrid 100M€ in concept of a transfer fee, while Juventus offers Cristiano Ronaldo 30M€ per season for a 4 year contract. The Portuguese star has commented to close sources that he will accept their offer & now awaits Real Madrid keeps their part of the deal.

The 33 year old forward adds that it has nothing to do with money leaving Real Madrid, in fact the Spanish Club has equalled the Italian offer as the player too solicited an improvement. It has to do with the need to find a new stimulus & Ronaldo feels his "cycle" at Real Madrid has come to an end.

Months back Ronaldo voiced his "feelings" of leaving Real Madrid to President Perez & the Club responded that if they received an acceptable offer the Club would not put any impediments or barriers for an exit. The player is recognized as the most important & greatest Player to pass through the Club in the "modern era", Ronaldo for many has eclipsed Alfredo Di Stefano, thus the Club is empathic to the Ronaldo respuests.

The Juventus offer was already on the tables before the Champions League Final in Kiev & Cristiano Ronaldo looked favourably thanks to the Italians Club fans who rose & applauded his performance at Turin that included his now famous "overhead" goal in Champions League Q/Final.

Real Madrid will now be looking to shut the deal & organize a huge goodbye event with all the fanfare that their Champion & Star deserves after 9 years ( & 4 Champions League plus 4 FiFA Golden Ball Awards) of brilliant service.

The news is not 100% official but the source is viable & traditionally spot on. However, one cannot help think that the above is the "official goodbye story" & that there is more to the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo than meets the eye.

One unofficial said factor that could be crucial is the "obsessive" interest by Real Madrid for Brazilian NEYMAR. Real Madrid refuted a news piece yesterday that stated a massive 310M€ offer to Paris St Germain & a 45M€ / season contract for Neymar...a record breaker. It is obvious to all that Real Madrid sees in Neymar the "new Star", their "new Marketing & Income generator" & their key to future titles success.

Added to the above MBAPPE has also again entered the Real Madrid orbit & there are rumours that the French International & PSG youngster can be a target as he was last year.

In both cases, it is not strange to think, that both Neymar &/or Mbappe would look more favourably in accepting a Real Madrid offer if Cristiano Ronaldo was no longer at the Club to soak up all the spotlights. Both will demand to be starters in all matches & too many roosters in the hens den always leads to trouble.

Stay tuned the following days & weeks!

CRISTIANO RONALDO TO LEAVE REAL MADRID | WELCOME NEYMAR

Cristiano Ronaldo is on his way out of Real Madrid, or at least there are signals that indicate that these times around the “smoke signals” are correct. Latest news doing the Sports & Football media rounds is that Premier League giant Manchester United may be the next Club destination for Ronaldo next season. The return of the “prodigal son” is a possibility as commented in the past by Cristiano Ronaldo himself: a “retirement objective”. There is definitely strong evidence that a move at the end of the season is a strong & very real possibility.

Will leave Real Madrid

The main reason, at least publicly, is that Cristiano Ronaldo feels that Real Madrid has not “lived up” to there promise to lift his economic rewards (salary) to the level of Lionel Messi or Neymar. The Portuguese star believes firmly that he has won all the big titles, helping directly Real Madrid be Nº1, while individually winning the important “FIFA The Best” & “Golden Ball” back to back. This makes Ronaldo technically the “Best Football Player in World Football” now earning around 24-25M€ per year, while Neymar earns +35M€ & Messi around +50M€ (these salary figures are never accurate totally). Cristiano Ronaldo has solicited formally & is waiting from Real Madrid a contract renewal that will put his salary close to Messi, &/or at least on par with Neymar. However, the Spanish Club has not responded positively (as yet). This in itself may be a clear signal from Real Madrid to the player that things are about to change.

It is no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo has declined in his performance & efficiency. Its natural, no one, no even super muscled Ronaldo, can halt the physical effects of time. Next February the Portuguese star will be 33 years of age, his speed has notably declined this season, his goal scoring efficiency has plummeted (currently only 4 goals in Liga) & is no longer the “decisive player” of the past. With this horizon Real Madrid may be reluctant to “invest” any further, while Ronaldo feels the Club has a “moral obligation” to do so.

However, Football has never been about ethics or morality; it’s about goals, victories & titles. This season Real Madrid is currently 19 points behind leaders & rivals FC Barcelona, & is currently sitting 4th on La Liga table (Champions participation next season under threat), which virtually signs that the Spanish Championship title is a no option. Added to this their unlucky, bad on-field performances & losses in lesser teams has alarmed fans, their participation in the UEFA Champions League is also under threat with Paris St. Germain coming up next month. The way things look right now, PSG is hot favourite to knock them out of their fetish competition. Real Madrid Directives are looking to the future & it seems Cristiano Ronaldo is not part of it.

In 2009 Real Madrid President Florentino Perez paid a then World Record 94M€ transfer fee to Manchester United for Ronaldo as an intricate & fundament piece of a long term “Global Strategic Plan” which included titles, increased Marketing income & Media brand domination; in part to win Asian & US markets & increase TV & sponsorship deals. Real Madrid has built its squad since then around Cristiano Ronaldo & it has paid back huge dividends with multiple titles (Champions League the most important), record Marketing, TV & Sponsorship income & media saturation Worldwide to brand Real Madrid. Now it´s time to find the “substitute”, to continue with “the Strategy”, & all indications point towards Brazilian, ex FC Barcelona & current Paris St. Germain player Neymar.

Neymar to Real Madrid CF

Everything indicates that Real Madrid & Neymar have already advanced to the stage that the Brazilian will land back in Spanish Football with them soon: the already famous PSG contract release clause. The original idea is incorporation in season 2019-2020, but unofficial sources indicate possibly as early as next season. Real Madrid seems willing to again break the transfer market for Neymar (+230M€ plus transfer +40M€ salary) because Real Madrid sees the Brazilian as strategic, the natural successor of Ronaldo on the field, in all Marketing & World branding. Plus the players “renewal process” will continue as Directives know too well that the Club needs GOAL, & will most likely sell Benzema to replace with a World-class goalscorer (Kane & Icardi are sounding). If things continue their negative results path, Zidane will most likely resign & many players (Benzema primarily…) will be without “defenders & shied”. To think that the next Coach of Real Madrid could be Mauricio Pochettino, currently at Tottenham Hotspurs, is realistic, & with him Forward Harry Kane.

Kane to Real Madrid

For Real Madrid to acquire Neymar, add a World class goal scorer, plus a defender has a huge Investment, money that cannot be diverted in raising the salary levels of Cristiano Ronaldo entering his “twilight years”. In fact to renew the contract of Ronaldo will only delay the arrival of stars like Neymar who does not wish to be his shadow.

The current lack of a positive gesture from the Real Madrid Directives towards Cristiano Ronaldo demands is originating frustration within the player, who is already sending signals of his displeasure. There are unofficial media leaks that Ronaldo has already asked the Club & decided to leave next season. The news of a possible Manchester United return is part of it. There is another rumour that Ronaldo will be part of the Neymar transfer buying deal to make things smoother for PSG.

All the Cristiano Ronaldo (or his representatives) public outburst are playing into the hands of Real Madrid which will public announce that it was the player who wanted to leave & that the Club has an existing contract with him. This message will smooth public-fan opinion, although many already see “the glory days” of Ronaldo being over & would welcome the arrival of Neymar, others like Kane/Icardi…next season.

So to answer the question, will Cristiano Ronaldo be leaving Real Madrid next season? This time around there is plenty of evidence & signals that indicate YES. Which will be the new Club? Right now, rumours point to Manchester United & Paris St Germain is also in the formula.

Said this & concluded with today, Football changes rapidly. If Real Madrid knocks out PSG from Champions & continues advancing to win the title again, or if no other Club is willing to pay the huge salary expectations of Ronaldo, the Portuguese may well find himself playing at Real Madrid next season AGAIN & perhaps this time with Neymar: Kane/Icardi… & new Coach Pochettino.

Stay tuned.

REAL MADRID | CRISTIANO RONALDO NOT GOING ANYWHERE FOR NOW

Since Portuguese Sports daily "A Bola" announced days ago that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo had decided to leave the Spanish Football Club all World Sports papers can´t stop putting on front page & analysing the story these days.

Cristiano Ronaldo is being accused of tax fraud of around 14.7-15 M€ by Spanish tax authorities of evading image rights income generation the last few years. This is big biscuits for you & me, but relative "peanuts" for the likes of World Sports stars like Cristiano Ronaldo. The only bad, & worrying news is, that there is a jail term associated with the accusation.

Said this, the last couple of years Spanish Football who have been full of similar incidentes & accusations of tax fraud: Lionel Messi, Neymar, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano... all practically finished in "out of court" agreements-settlements & upfront payments to the Tax department of the millions of Euros in question. Things look like, beforehand, that the Cristiano Ronaldo case will go down the same road & finish up the same way. So why the desire to leave Real Madrid & in doing so Spain?

Spanish Football

Few reasons being talked:
  • Innocence - Ronaldo claims he has done nothing wrong. In fact he claims he has followed all the guidelines. The player sees this as a "publicity stunt".
  • The lack of "real" support from Real Madrid - Ronaldo feels Real Madrid is not doing enough to help steer away these accusations.
  • The problems starts from Real Madrid - when he signed he gave the Spanish Club 50% of all image generated income, thus its a Club problem. Plus when he signed there existed the "Beckham Law" ( low tax regimen for foreign players) that later changed & Real Madrid promised to solve in a "mix salary formula". Apparently it did not come forth.
  • Desires a new Club to finish off his career. He has always stated he desires to return to Manchester United. Also there is a story that in Cardiff during the Champions League final, his manager Mendes spoke with Paris St Germain reps.
Latest news is that Cristiano Ronaldo has already taken the decision & this is the real thing.

That´s media. The reality is that the Portuguese star is angry, very angry, & as any person upset is talking all sorts of things, including nonsense or perfectly planned "smoke-screen" strategy. His manager Mendes is a crafty "old fox" & wants to put gasoline onto the fire to pressure Real Madrid to pull all the strings necessary for his player. Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is a very influential Spanish industrialist with friends at the highest level of Spanish authorities & government. Normal to see the Spanish Prime Minister or Cabinet members (political, judicial, business elite...) sitting next to him on match days sharing a chat or two.

But there is more to suggest this is a "baby rage". Cristiano Ronaldo is already part of the Best Football Club in the World currently, will he go down the ladder? Doubt it? The players contract release clause is 1.000M€, no one or Club can pay it. Plus Real Madrid will not sell for less that 150-170M€ the next Golden Ball winner.

Although Football is full of surprising turns, I believe that Roanldo will calm down after his Summer vacations, & all this all will be sorted out in the back rooms in a negotiated (& private) matter, as like Messi & Neymar cases.

There is nothing like a few threats to get things done & moved, apart from selling lots & lots of papers.

Stay tuned!

FIFA BEST AWARDS | CRISTIANO RONALDO THE BEST 2016

FIFA handed this evening their "BEST AWARDS" after "breaking" with France Football which now gives the Golden Ball Award. As expected Real Madrid forward CRISTIANO RONALDO culminated 2016 with another prize, his 16th individual Award, this time with the "FIFA BEST PLAYER 2016".

The unfortunate news of the evening was the "boycott" by FC Barcelona which "did not allow" their nominated players: Iniesta, Pique, Luis Suarez & Messi ( also nominated for "Best 2016") to attend. The real reason is their disagreements with FIFA over "under-aged players" sanctions, & the fact the "Court of Arbitration in Sport" sanctioned in favour of Real Madrid for similar accusations. FC Barcelona believes FIFA favours Real Madrid, which in itself obviously needs to be proven.

The action of not attending has damaged seriously FC Barcelona profile & their Worldwide image as their dominance of World Soccer begins to decline. What is worse, Lionel Messi has involved himself in all this racket being nominated as "Best Player" & we all will want to know if this decision was voluntary.

FC Barcelona has claimed officially that their players are concentrated for their upcoming Spanish Cup qualifier return match, a game they need to win to stay alive in the competition after losing 2 -1 away to Athletic Club Bilbao. Naturally no one believes this story as Barça has never given the Spanish Cup the "priority" they have until today.

In all case, the damage has been done image wise.

BEST FIFA PLAYER 2016

FIFA Best Player 2016
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / Real Madrid CF)

The voting was in the following porportions:
Cristiano Ronaldo 34,54% Votes
Lionel Messi 26.42%
Griezmann 7,53%

Spanish Football dominated as well the Best XI team 2016... Real Madrid contributed to the best 11 with 5 players, while Barça had 4 & Atletico de Madrid was represented with Griezmann. The inexplicable part of this voting was that Griezmann was voted 3rd Best Player for 2016, but did not manage to make the Best XI. Again FIFA shows its incoherent side as in past Awards & has lifted some eyebrows.

FIFA BEST 11 FIFPRO 2016:
GOALKEEPER: Neuer (FC Bayern Munich/ Germany)

DEFENCE: Alves (Barcelona y Juventus / Brazil), Pique (FC Barcelona / Spain), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid / Spain) & Marcelo (Real Madrid / Brazil)

MIDFIELDERS: Luka Modric (Real Madrid / Croatia), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid / Germany) & Andres Iniesta (FC Barcelona / Spain)

FORWARDS: Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona / Argentina), Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona / Uruguay) & Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid CF / Portugal)

REAL MADRID | CRISIS - ONCE AGAIN

Real Madrid was run over last Saturday by FC Barcelona 0 - 4 in "El Clasico" & as expected its the end of the World for the former. The backlash has been so intense that President Florentino Perez has had to come out this afternoon in a press conference to back his Coach Rafael Benitez who has been hammered. The nasty rumour is that the dressing room has no faith in their Coach & desire that Benitez be "pushed aside", with Cristiano Ronaldo apparently one of leading callers.  The Portuguese player is also thinking elsewhere for next season & Benitez could be helping with his decision.

With these last claims there is no evidential truth, but media insiders say that its common knowledge in the "inner circles". President Florentino Perez has had to put out fires announcing his full support for Benitez. But we have seen this before, last year when Perez gave full support to Ancelotti when under fire he then sacked him later.

Real Madrid News 2015

The Real Madrid President has again put the blame this afternoon on the media, "which is out to get him". Sounds too familiar, its an old tactic to cover the numerous Football decision which have turned out to be mistakes. No one doubts that Florentino Perez is an expert business & finance man & has turned Real Madrid into the Worlds Richest Club, but he has no idea about Football. His period as Real Madrid President (2 periods) are full of big mistakes:
  • letting go of Makelele ,
  • letting go of Seedrof ,
  • sacking Coach Vicente del Bosque,
  • Signing Kaka...others,
  • Signing Luxemburg, Pellegrini,...others,
  • Not signing Luis Suarez, not good enough according to him,
  • Sacking Carlo Ancelotti,
  • PERHAPS - signing Rafael Benitez.
These are just a few in a long list of poor decisions.

What about Benitez? Like all Coaches it will depend if he can maintain victories. Winning is the only guarantee, not the hallow words of a President with doubtful credibility & at the whim of maintaining himself in power. The hard fact is that not only has FC Barcelona smashed Real Madrid last Saturday, Barça has been running over Real Madrid the last 10 years.

WHAT IS HAPPENNING WITH CRISTIANO RONALDO | REAL MADRID

The loss yesterday by Real Madrid away to Sevilla FC is a Football event that is always possible in high level competition & when the opposition team simply played better. What has made the "alarm bells" sound at Real Madrid is the form of star Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo. The forward is not himself, looks unmotivated & out of place. There is not doubt that Ronaldo is trying his best to score & to help his team onto victory, but he is certainty out of groove, & some say possibly already far away.

Spanish Football Soccer News

Firstly, we have been spoiled silly for the past 6 seasons witnessing goalscoring rates of between 50 - 70 goals per season. It was until Cristiano Ronaldo arrived (with exception of Lionel Messi) not humanly possible. Thus seeing how Ronaldo does not score in his latest games seems a complete let down.

Secondly, all of us, even for the "superhuman" Cristiano Ronaldo, must succumb to the effects of age. CR7 will some reach his 31 st Birthday next February, & like it or not, pace declines & the reflexes stall even if we are only talking of fraction of seconds or more. It may well be the moment to change how one plays or "evolve" towards a more optimal manner of Football which may sacrifice the goalscoring numbers but heighten the cooperative aspects of his & team play.

Said this, there could other factors which helps explain the current "absence" of Cristiano Ronaldo both on the field & off the field:
  • the absence of Karim Benzema not only lessens the effectiveness of the whole team but puts out of synchronicity Cristiano Ronaldo & his Football. The understanding between Frenchman & Portuguese is almost perfect & has given CR7 a high percentage of his goals,
  • some insiders suggest that another reason for the drop in form by Cristiano Ronaldo is that he is not playing in his preferred position. Cristiano likes the left flank but Coach Benitez has preferred to place him as Centre Forward, more so with the absence of Benzema,
  • this follows that the connection between Cristiano Ronaldo & his Coach Rafael Benitez is commented to be not as fluid as with ex-Coach Ancelotti. Perhaps its the tactical insistence that Benitez imposes on all his players, the differences in Football philosophy which diverges or that personally there is no "feeling",
  • Perhaps it is just that Cristiano Ronaldo is physically exhausted. The player is a starter in all the matches, & few Coaches past or present have had the personality to substitute CR7.
These factors may be playing a part, but the reason that some observers are already citing as a prime motive is that Cristiano Ronaldo is perhaps planning his exit from Real Madrid. The idea of Cristiano Ronaldo far from Real Madrid is gaining strength after the player himself has made ambiguous statements to International Press thus opening the possibility of an exit. Public gestures that consciously attract the TV cameras like whispering to the ear of Paris St Germain Coach Blanc & patting the back of Paris St Germain owner, are seen as orchestrated & strategically planned.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez may well see all this with good eyes the selling of his star for 100-150M€ next season to Paris St Germain & could be in "the plan" with CR7 & his team of advisors to lessen the blow & possible fan base backlash.

As you can read there are many ideas floating around at the moment many of which are just speculation & perhaps without any base. However the obvious is that Cristiano Ronaldo is not 100%, neither with his Football nor mentally & this is attracting attention from specialists & fans.

I conclude that the Portuguese will bounce back soon to tantalize us all again with his goalscoring prowess & have us forget this current slump & out pour of rumours. Although I do also comment that we will be back here to analyse further in the future the strongest of all predictions doing the rounds at the moment, that the future of Cristiano Ronaldo may well be far from Real Madrid.

HIGHEST GOAL SCORER - BEST GOALKEEPER LA LIGA 2014-2015

With the Spanish Football & La Liga season concluded we have the final list of the "Highest Goalscorer" ("El Pichichi") & the "Best Goalkeeper" ("El Zamora") for season 2014 - 2015.

Once again Real Madrid CF forward Cristiano Ronaldo outperforms himself to claim the Liga top goal scorer with an "out of this World" figure of 48 goals. This is a regular feat for the Portuguese who reached the late 30s & early 40s mark in the past seasons. A "goal scoring machine" that also gives him again the "European Golden Boot Award".

Extraordinary performance only rivaled by second placed Lionel Messi with his 43 goals.

Top 5 goal scorers of La Liga season 2014-2015:
1.Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) 48 goals
2.Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) 43
3.Neymar (FC Barcelona) 22
4.Griezmann (Atlético) 22
5.Carlos Bacca (Sevilla) 20

FC Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has won this seasons "El Zamora" award as the least goaled in the Liga. With a coefficient of 0,51 & with only 19 goals passed him in 37 games the Chilean is La Liga "Best Goalkeeper" for season 2014-2015.

Top 5 goalkeepers of La Liga season 2014-2015:

CRISTIANO RONALDO | 5 SEASONS STRAIGHT HITTING THE 50 GOALS MARK

Like him or dislike him, there are cold facts that transcend human emotions. While the debate echoes continuously if Portuguese Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is or not the "Best Football-Soccer Player in the World",  yesterday he reached another spectacular milestone that differentiates from the rest.

His 93rd min goal against Malaga FC in La Liga yesterday tallied his 50th goal this season in all competitions. The incredible feat is that it is the 5th season in a row that Cristiano Ronaldo hits or surpasses the 50th goal mark:

Season 2010/11 (53 goals),
11/12 (60),
12/13 (55),
13/14 (51)
14/15 (50, for the moment!)

The fact is it´s just amazing & perhaps hard to be seen again when we all get older & look back at it all. There is not doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is the ultimate goalscoring player - or lovingly said "Goalscoring Machine". Others like Ronaldo - Brazilian, Van Basten, Hugo Sanchez, Di Stefano, Messi etc & etc, may have look/ed "more elegant" but do not have the power or intensity of Cristiano Ronaldo. It is like watching 100 Elephants charge at once towards the goal from a defender/goalkeeper perspective. Plus it is relentless from kick-off to the final whistle, a spectacle to witness independently of your "emotional" Football preferences.

CRISTIANO RONALDO THINKING OF RETURNING TO MANCHESTER UNITED?

Something is not right with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. Since receiving the FIFA Golden Ball in January the Portuguese forward has entered an observable "slump" with his play, & with his goal scoring rate dropping dramatically (dramatically in his extraordinary case) which has lead to all sorts of speculation.

The initial back alley talk was that his break-up with model Irina Shayk was affecting his "spirits". Others suggested that his ongoing knee complaint was perhaps halting the forward. However, these only cannot explain his striking external behaviour, offhand comments & his on field body language gestures that indicate that there is something more, much deeper niggling away in the Cristiano Ronaldo conscious.

The obvious that comes to the surface, that Ronaldo is frustrated with himself & with his drop in form. The player sets himself Sporting objectives which surpass most Sportsman, they are perhaps unrealistic & not getting there sets in high anxiety levels. Added, his main rival FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has already surpassed him in the goal scoring area, thus more anxiety to the already high stress levels.

These emotions have flowed onto the playing field were we have seen a rise of unsavoury gestures that go from inner frustration to reprimanding his own team-mates for their play. Cristiano Ronaldo illustrates his unhappiness on the field, to his team-mates & in front of the World. Although not publicly said or admitted, this can only rub up the wrong way his team-mates who see how they must play for Ronaldo to satisfy his goal scoring hunger. This in the end is counter-productive for the team as many opportunities are not converted because everyone sacrifices their play to attempt to satisfy a nagging CR7.

This could all well be "cheap speculation", but yesterday’s on field gestures by Cristiano Ronaldo in the Liga match against Levante not only caught the attention of the more serious Football journalist but also the general public. Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to be "not amused" when Gareth Bale scored the first goal of the night after he failed to convert an overhead attempt - by the way, an apparent obsession with Ronaldo to score a goal in this fashion. The Portuguese was again "unimpressed" when his shot was slightly deflected by Gareth Bale who was awarded the goal. Unsportsmanlike? Egoistic? Lack of respect for his team-mates? I, at this stage, would not go as far & put it down to frustration with himself & the incredible "bad luck" he was having in scoring last night.

However, what caught my attention was something new, & worrying. The Real Madrid fans whistled Cristiano Ronaldo which caught by surprise their star. Cristiano Ronaldo in a new act of “showmanship” stood firm, still & looked back at the crowd in response nodding his head in disbelief, & perhaps full of indignation. This act was caught by the TV cameras & Ronaldo knew it perfectly well, he was responding massively & outside the Stadium. At the end of the match Ronaldo raced off the pitch while the rest of his team-mates stayed on to clap the support received from their home fans. The Portuguese magnified his "anger" with his play, with media & with his home supporters. It now seems the players have a grudge with the rest of the World & this is not good, this is alarming & could deteriorate if not redirected into a more positive direction.

Some Football observers have began putting loose pieces together to determine what is behind it all. There is a belief in some circles that some third parties are "putting things" into the head of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese Star had dinner with Alex Ferguson after last weeks Champions League game against Schalke 04. The ex-Manchester United Manager flew to Madrid to "convince" his pupil to return back to England where he could regain his level entering the "final turn" of his career. An attractive option perhaps, with the added bonus for the representative of Ronaldo, Jorge Mendes who must be calculating the astronomical economic figures that could be involved in such operation.

Leaving Real Madrid

This has put into the light a bad case scenario, that the “inner circle” of Cristiano Ronaldo (mainly the of figure of Jorge Mendes) has began to scheme & "manipulate the environment" & the mind of his player to consider a departure from Real Madrid to Manchester United. The Real Madrid fan base criticism, whistles & turn of public opinion would be the perfect excuse needed to pull off the idea. The blessing of a sale by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez cannot be dismissed at all. Publicly voicing or thinking this is not possible for Perez, it is unthinkable & a suicide in the face of the Real Madrid fan base. But Perez knows, like you & me that Cristiano Ronaldo has reached 30+ years of age & that NOW could be the only moment to make a sale with optimal economic transfer numbers. Fresh cash for Real Madrid that could be reinvested in younger World class talent - Pogba for example.

At this point, this sounds more of conspiracy theory than anything else. Getting back to winning ways, scoring plenty of goals & winning titles (especially the Champions League) will flash out & eliminate all thoughts & negative vibes from the head of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. But a loss at FC Barcelona next Sunday with a consequent possible goodbye to the Spanish Liga title, a possible elimination from the Champions League tournament & a run away Lionel Messi in the goal scoring tally could all well be enough to lead Ronaldo to pack his bags & fly off back to Manchester United. If so, there will be people who would benefit greatly, inside & outside Real Madrid.

REAL MADRID | WHY THE SLUMP?

As expected the Spanish Sports media has turned its attention on Real Madrid, the motive? Why has the former leader of La Liga given way to its rival FC Barcelona with a string of bad performances that include a draw & a loss last weekend against At.Bilbao. The current Champions League & World Clubs Champions Real Madrid has gone from its impressive 2014 season to a horrible 2015. Why this slump?

As usual there are opinions from every "Tom, Dick & Harry", opinions from those same "experts" who flung the boot into FC Barcelona weeks back when they went through their particular "crisis". Now the cards have turned & Real Madrid is the main focus of their attention & with some truth, as the Club is on the limit of putting down the toilet all of this season hard work if they do not come up with solutions. On the 22nd of March Real Madrid travel to "Camp Nou" to play FC Barcelona in the "Clasico", the Liga title could be decided right there & then.

The first to receive a tsunami of criticism is Coach Ancelotti. The Italian was a Saint last month & today is seen as a "wounded duck". The criticism ranges from lack of authority over the players, lack of ideas ...to applying the wrong system. Nothing new here, as always the Coach is the main target of fans, followers & media frustration. Said this, there is obviously some responsibility here on the shoulders of Carlo, perhaps that he has "exhausted" his players some which are feeling the excess of games in their legs. But what other choice has the Italian in reality when his "B-players" are not up to the level required: Jese? Chicharito? Khedira thinking in the Bundesliga next season, Nacho?...Arbeloa? Lack of ideas? Ancelotti has the resources he has with some important pieces out of action: Modric & James. The wrong playing system? The Italian insists on the 4-3-3 set up to allow Bale, Benzema & Ronaldo to play together, its not working because Cristiano Ronaldo is going through a slump. Therefore everyone clamours for the proven & effective 4-4-2 system, but what everyone forgets is that two elements of this machine - Modric & James - are absent, while Bale could be filling in the midfield, the Welshman is not effective in defending.

As you can read, plenty of opinions to multiple problems which highlights that being the Coach of Real Madrid is not easy, & not any Coach can handle it. So what is happening? I would like to give my humble opinion as an external observer without dismissing any of the possible valid observations given by the experts already.

I see two main reasons:
  • The injury of Modric was crucial; the team has deeply felt his absence. The Croatian with his vision, passing, defending & movements gave the equilibrium the team lacks now. The injury of James Rodriguez was a double blow, the Colombian was the midfield "connection" with the forwards adding surprise & options to the attack. It is no surprise that the Real Madrid forward line goal scoring average has dramatically dropped since these two players have disappeared, the BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) does not receive the balls that create the clear goal opportunities.
  • The other reason is the dramatic drop in form of Cristiano Ronaldo which is alarming. Call it emotional (recent girlfriend break-up) or physical due to his ongoing knee complaints, the player is frustrated & his desperation is contagious to his team-mates in a negative way. His "pathological" need to score in every match is conditioning his team-mates, especially Benzema & Bale, to play almost exclusively for the Portuguese, sometimes sacrificing their own clear goal opportunities. Seeing Ronaldo complain & throw his arms around cursing the 90 minutes is counter-productive for him & the team. The solution is obvious, sit Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench a couple of games so he can rest, relax a little & get his head together. But who has the balls for this obvious solution?
REAL MADRID 2015

The positive side to all this is that Modric is about return to play, Sergio Ramos is almost back & James Rodriguez will soon be out of his foot injury. Three important & vital resources that coach Ancelotti needs so as to freshen, spark-up & give alternatives to his team. With these three players back, the Italian can give some players a rest, add back competition internally & if desired place the externally "desire" 4-4-2 system.

Only problem is will these three returning players all coincide in the needed moments & will all three have regained the form needed to put back the lost equilibrium? Big question, sure coach Ancelotti & mentioned players are all working extra hours to synchronize. Until then the team will face a mayor obstacle, FC Barcelona the 22nd of March. If Real Madrid can successful overcome this hurdle, I am sure the pieces will all fall back in place, the team will being rolling efficiently & Coach Ancelotti be given a back his status as "Saint"
