LA LIGA RETURNS 11 JUNE

Many thought that it would not have been possible, that the Spanish Football season was over due to the CO VID-19 crisis. However, the better than expected control of the pandemic & reduction of the local spread of the virus has made the situation good enough to open up LA LIGA & take-off where it left off before shut-down.

The Spanish Liga season resumens the 11 of June with the Seville Classic "Sevilla FC - Real Betis", with the rest of the scheduled match continuing the following days. Below are the schedules for Round 28 & Round 29 of LA LIGA.

As you can see the fixture is very tight with matches nearly everyday & weekly in order to make up with lost time, plus attempt to finish the season (11 Rounds still to be played).

All matches are to be played under extremely higiene control conditions & in empty stadiums (no crowds). The main objective is to avoid CO-VID 19 contact & spread between players & within the Clubs, as an announced infection would put in quarantine the whole Club/s in question for 14 days.

So good news for Spanish Football, La Liga & fans. Lets hope things run smoothly with risks with health being the main objective.

FC BARCELONA 5 REAL MADRID 1 | FLORENTINO PEREZ SHOULD BE SACKED BUT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN

Spanish Football celebrated its "showroom match", "El Clasico", for season 2018 - 2019 between FC BARCELONA & REAL MADRID CF. The final result is a crushing 5 - 1 victory to FC Barcelona which is likely to have serious repercussion within the lossing Club with the almost certain sacking of Real Madrid Coach Julen Lopetegui

FC BARCELONA - REAL MADRID 2018

Let's get out of the way the technical details of the game with the following info:

Starting lineups & goalscorers:

FC Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Sergi Roberto, Pique, Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Arthur (Arturo Vidal, 83’); Rafinha (Semedo, 67’), Luis Suárez, Coutinho (Dembélé, 73’)

Real Madrid CF: Courtois; Nacho, Varane (Lucas Vázquez, 46’), Ramos, Marcelo (Mariano, 81’); Kroos, Casemiro, Modric; Bale (Marco Asensio, 77’), Benzema, Isco

Goals: 1-0, Coutinho (10’); 2-0, Luis Suárez, pen. (30’); 2-1, Marcelo (49’); 3-1, Luis Suarez (75’); 4-1, Suárez (80’), 5-1, Arturo Vidal (86’)

Man of the match Luis Suarez with a HAT-TRICK

FC BARCELONA - REAL MADRID 2018

Now to the tic tacs. Barça was supreme this afternoon which dominated the match except the 25 minutes of the 2º half where Real Madrid showed heroics & could have equalized had a shot from Modric not hit the post when the match was 2 - 1. However, that was all from Real Madrid & Barça regained control.

Real Madrid was overrun in the 1º st half by Barcelona, exploiting a a non-specialist wing defender like Nacho, & the lack of fire power up front by Real Madrid. LUIS SUAREZ was inspired this afternoon with three goals accompanied by a grand Arthur, Coutinho, Alba & company.

Real Madrid has problems, serious problems, dragged from the last weeks:

  • Sergio Ramos is out of form & slow. In any other team his position would be taken over by someone else, should not be playing,
  • Varane is just as bad as Ramos not in his greatest moment,
  • Marcelo attacks & scores but does not defend, again slow & leaves spaces,
  • Defensively, bad, tactically worst,
  • Modric is nothing like the World Cup Modric,
  • Kroos is out of form, does not recover to defend,
  • Isco is not as "good" as he thinks, dribbles too much & halts team progression,
  • Vinicius cost 45 M€ & has not appeared all season, Lopetegui is to blame here,
  • Gareth Bale has not taken the responsibility for his level, should be sold,
  • Real Madrid HAS NO Center Forward, no natural goalscorer.
I could add more, but this is enough for now.

FC BARCELONA - REAL MADRID 2018

Real Madrid will most likely now sack their Coach Lopetegui, but is he the blame? NO, the responsibility of this disastrous situation is Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, if anyone he should resign, but this will not happen.

Florentino Perez sold Cristiano Ronaldo - who guaranteed 50 goals per season - without finding a substitute. Added to this he refused to sign in the transfer market a true goal area killer, & signed a band-aid solution in Mariano from Lyon, who quite frankly should never have been signed.

The main Real Madrid problem is that it has no goalscorer & if a team cannot score then you have a problem & cannot win. Coach Lopetegui has played his part not being able to manage optimally the dressing room egos & placing on the field those who are out of form, plus the pressure has overtaken the man. This is natural, not given the right instruments to work with leads to things get difficult, extremely difficult & nerves set in.

So what next; the sacking of Lopetegui, perhaps Real Madrid B Coach Solari as caretaker Coach while Real Madrid secures Antonio Conte, or even Mourinho. In the upcoming Winter Transfer Market Real Madrid will go into the transfer market & attempt to find a goalscorer, a real goalscorer, which will cost a fortune. All thanks to the "brilliant" Club management skills of the Real Madrid President Florentino Perez & his directive team, the true person responsible for the current Club situation.

LA LIGA DOMINATES THE FRANCE FOOTBALL GOLDEN BALL CANDIDATES

France Football made public today their initial 30 candidates for the upcoming FRANCE FOOTBALL GOLDEN BALL AWARD 2018. The winner will be announced the 3rd of December in Paris.

Golden Ball Award 2018

However, the news from our point of view is the domination of LALIGA with 14 candidates, that is, 14 names that play in the Spanish Football League:

Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Courtois, Isco, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Varane, Sergio Ramos, Godin, Griezmann, Oblak, Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suárez & Messi
.

The next League with most candidates are:
  • English Premier (11), followed by
  • Ligue 1 France (3)
  • Serie A Italy (2),
surprisingly the Bundesliga has none.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | CURRENT LEADING GOALSCORER & GOALKEEPER | ROUND 21

Good moment to see how the classification tables stand for the leading goalscorer (El Pichichi) & goalkeeper (El Zamora) in LaLiga after 21 Rounds

FC Barcelona player LIONEL MESSI currently leads the goalscorers with 20 goals, while Atletico de Madrid goalie OBLAK leads his section with the minimum goals against his name, 9 goals.

In the goalscoring ranks odd not to see Cristiano Ronaldo, nor any Real Madrid players. This clearly highlights one of the big problems of Real Madrid this season: lack of GOAL.

CRISTIANO RONALDO TO LEAVE REAL MADRID | WELCOME NEYMAR

Cristiano Ronaldo is on his way out of Real Madrid, or at least there are signals that indicate that these times around the “smoke signals” are correct. Latest news doing the Sports & Football media rounds is that Premier League giant Manchester United may be the next Club destination for Ronaldo next season. The return of the “prodigal son” is a possibility as commented in the past by Cristiano Ronaldo himself: a “retirement objective”. There is definitely strong evidence that a move at the end of the season is a strong & very real possibility.

Will leave Real Madrid

The main reason, at least publicly, is that Cristiano Ronaldo feels that Real Madrid has not “lived up” to there promise to lift his economic rewards (salary) to the level of Lionel Messi or Neymar. The Portuguese star believes firmly that he has won all the big titles, helping directly Real Madrid be Nº1, while individually winning the important “FIFA The Best” & “Golden Ball” back to back. This makes Ronaldo technically the “Best Football Player in World Football” now earning around 24-25M€ per year, while Neymar earns +35M€ & Messi around +50M€ (these salary figures are never accurate totally). Cristiano Ronaldo has solicited formally & is waiting from Real Madrid a contract renewal that will put his salary close to Messi, &/or at least on par with Neymar. However, the Spanish Club has not responded positively (as yet). This in itself may be a clear signal from Real Madrid to the player that things are about to change.

It is no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo has declined in his performance & efficiency. Its natural, no one, no even super muscled Ronaldo, can halt the physical effects of time. Next February the Portuguese star will be 33 years of age, his speed has notably declined this season, his goal scoring efficiency has plummeted (currently only 4 goals in Liga) & is no longer the “decisive player” of the past. With this horizon Real Madrid may be reluctant to “invest” any further, while Ronaldo feels the Club has a “moral obligation” to do so.

However, Football has never been about ethics or morality; it’s about goals, victories & titles. This season Real Madrid is currently 19 points behind leaders & rivals FC Barcelona, & is currently sitting 4th on La Liga table (Champions participation next season under threat), which virtually signs that the Spanish Championship title is a no option. Added to this their unlucky, bad on-field performances & losses in lesser teams has alarmed fans, their participation in the UEFA Champions League is also under threat with Paris St. Germain coming up next month. The way things look right now, PSG is hot favourite to knock them out of their fetish competition. Real Madrid Directives are looking to the future & it seems Cristiano Ronaldo is not part of it.

In 2009 Real Madrid President Florentino Perez paid a then World Record 94M€ transfer fee to Manchester United for Ronaldo as an intricate & fundament piece of a long term “Global Strategic Plan” which included titles, increased Marketing income & Media brand domination; in part to win Asian & US markets & increase TV & sponsorship deals. Real Madrid has built its squad since then around Cristiano Ronaldo & it has paid back huge dividends with multiple titles (Champions League the most important), record Marketing, TV & Sponsorship income & media saturation Worldwide to brand Real Madrid. Now it´s time to find the “substitute”, to continue with “the Strategy”, & all indications point towards Brazilian, ex FC Barcelona & current Paris St. Germain player Neymar.

Neymar to Real Madrid CF

Everything indicates that Real Madrid & Neymar have already advanced to the stage that the Brazilian will land back in Spanish Football with them soon: the already famous PSG contract release clause. The original idea is incorporation in season 2019-2020, but unofficial sources indicate possibly as early as next season. Real Madrid seems willing to again break the transfer market for Neymar (+230M€ plus transfer +40M€ salary) because Real Madrid sees the Brazilian as strategic, the natural successor of Ronaldo on the field, in all Marketing & World branding. Plus the players “renewal process” will continue as Directives know too well that the Club needs GOAL, & will most likely sell Benzema to replace with a World-class goalscorer (Kane & Icardi are sounding). If things continue their negative results path, Zidane will most likely resign & many players (Benzema primarily…) will be without “defenders & shied”. To think that the next Coach of Real Madrid could be Mauricio Pochettino, currently at Tottenham Hotspurs, is realistic, & with him Forward Harry Kane.

Kane to Real Madrid

For Real Madrid to acquire Neymar, add a World class goal scorer, plus a defender has a huge Investment, money that cannot be diverted in raising the salary levels of Cristiano Ronaldo entering his “twilight years”. In fact to renew the contract of Ronaldo will only delay the arrival of stars like Neymar who does not wish to be his shadow.

The current lack of a positive gesture from the Real Madrid Directives towards Cristiano Ronaldo demands is originating frustration within the player, who is already sending signals of his displeasure. There are unofficial media leaks that Ronaldo has already asked the Club & decided to leave next season. The news of a possible Manchester United return is part of it. There is another rumour that Ronaldo will be part of the Neymar transfer buying deal to make things smoother for PSG.

All the Cristiano Ronaldo (or his representatives) public outburst are playing into the hands of Real Madrid which will public announce that it was the player who wanted to leave & that the Club has an existing contract with him. This message will smooth public-fan opinion, although many already see “the glory days” of Ronaldo being over & would welcome the arrival of Neymar, others like Kane/Icardi…next season.

So to answer the question, will Cristiano Ronaldo be leaving Real Madrid next season? This time around there is plenty of evidence & signals that indicate YES. Which will be the new Club? Right now, rumours point to Manchester United & Paris St Germain is also in the formula.

Said this & concluded with today, Football changes rapidly. If Real Madrid knocks out PSG from Champions & continues advancing to win the title again, or if no other Club is willing to pay the huge salary expectations of Ronaldo, the Portuguese may well find himself playing at Real Madrid next season AGAIN & perhaps this time with Neymar: Kane/Icardi… & new Coach Pochettino.

Stay tuned.

REAL MADRID - FC BARCELONA | POSSIBLE STARTING 11 TEAMS LINE-UPS

Spanish Liga Round 17 gives us the "Clasico", REAL MADRID vs FC BARCELONA. The game is down for Saturday 23rd of December at 13:00 hours local Sp time. Barça has an 11 point gap advantage over Real Madrid in the classification table & its a must win deal for Real Madrid if they are to keep their Liga title aspirations alive. A victory by Barça would be an almost "mortal" knock-out for their principal rival.

Already the atmosphere is being heated up locally with news & speculation on the possible starting teams line-ups.

Real Madrid - FC Barcelona - clasico 23 December 2017

Possible starting 11 teams speculations:

REAL MADRID: Kaylor Navas, Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo, Casemiro, Modric, Kroos, Isco, Benzema & Cristiano Ronaldo.

There is talk that Zidane may surprise with Gareth Bale over Isco, but its more likely that Bale will come on late in the 2º half to speed up things while Barça is tired.

FC BARCELONA: Stegan,  Semeda, Pique, Vermaelen, Alba, Busquets, Rakitic, Paulinho, Iniesta, Messi & Suarez.

These are speculated line ups & things can change from here until Saturday.

Top match , not to be missed!

LA LIGA MATCH OF THE DAY RESULT | VALENCIA 1 FC BARCELONA 1

The big Round 13 Spanish Liga game between second placed VALENCIA CF & current leaders FC BARCELONA finished with a 1 - 1 final result. A match that had intensity & some very controversial moments & decisions, the main one being a disallowed goal (as in the image below) to Barça that was legal.

Just to remind readers LaLiga has´nt VAR & will introduce next season, but the image illustrates the need to introduce the technology as quackly as possible. This erroneous decision cost FC Barcelona a victory & another 2 points.

Spanish laliga football

The game was very serious & tactical as one can expect from the two currently most inform teams. Valencia CF had the advantage of the home support that stirred them on. Even in their most complex moments, when tiredness came into the teams equation, the local crowd gave Valencia wings. It was evident in the last 5 mins of the match when Valencia looked for the victory & had the victory in their grasp had Zaza not missed an obvious opportunity in front of goal.

Although Valencia played well, in my opinion, Barça was better in general managing the more complicated moments of the match. Lionel Messi was determinate again & from his boot came the pass that found Jordi Alba to score the equalizer.

Goalscorers tonight:
  • Rodrigo 60th min, 1- 0
  • Jordi Alba 82nd min, 1 - 1

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ATLETICO DE MADRID 0 REAL MADRID 0

Big city of Madrid derby tonight as part of La Liga Round 12 schedule with Atletico de Madrid hosting Real Madrid. Both needed a victory to stay in touch with classification leaders FC Barcelona (which won today) & Valencia CF currently second & plays tomorrow.

End result a disappointing 0 - 0 draw which puts both Clubs together with 24 points, but puts Real Madrid 10 points behind Barcelona.

Spanish Football Liga

These were the staring line-ups:
ATLETICO DE MADRID: Oblak; Juanfran, Godín, Savic, Lucas; Gabi, Koke, Saúl, Thomas; Correa & Griezmann. (substitutions: Carrasco, Torres & Gamiero)

REAL MADRID: Casilla; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco; Karim Benzema & Cristiano Ronaldo. (substitutions Nacho & Asensio).

Match dominated tactically by At Madrid in the first half, while Real Madrid bettered in the second half of the match. Few relative goal opportunities to both sides as the "battle" was fierce in the midfield. A physical game as habitual ( few Atletico players saw yellow cards) & controversial encounter as usual historically between both teams. Penalties were claimed by both teams, like a kick in the face of Ramos ( which caused his substitution in the 2º half) by Atletico defender Lucas Hernandez that was not seen along with a "clear" Godin handball late second half. At. Madrid claimed a handball by Ronaldo in the latter part of the second half in the box.

La Liga

Overall an entertaining 90 minute match which only missed goals. Here is the debate, goals are not coming to both teams. Griezmann & company are in drought, while Cristiano Ronaldo creates opportunities that do not materialize. Real Madrid forward Benzema again will be questioned as his contribution should give rise to more goals, something that is not happening at all. The continuing goal drought will keep the debate heated theses days in Sports media while both teams watch rivals open important point gaps on the classification table.

REAL MADRID IN TROUBLE | 5 POSSIBLE REASONS

Football is about cycles, ups & down moments & now its the turn of Real Madrid. The Best team in the World 7 days ago is now questioned after their defeat last night in Round 5 of LaLiga against Real Betis 0 - 1.

Why? Three games at home with 2 draws & yesterdays loss, but worst, they are 7 points from their main rival FC Barcelona which sits on top of the classification table. As habitual in Spanish Football when Real Madrid has a bad run, Barça is sitting pretty, & vice versa.

Should Real Madrid fans be worried? I personally do not think so. The season has just started & the road is very long. Seven points is not at this moment a disaster & Real Madrid historically have come back to overcome such gaps.

The team is playing well, very well, but there are a few reasons which are hampering their success or accentuating their bad results in LaLiga

REASONS to consider:
  • The decisions of Zidane: The French Coach is not making optimal decisions & are making the team lose points. Zidane is not a "sacred cow" & we all make mistakes, but some decisions need analysis. The insistence on fielding Bale over Asensio is baffling, the Welsh is not in playing form. Isco needs to be on the field more & not substituted when the team needs him most. Yesterday, Zidane took off Modric to put more forwards when the team precisely needed more midfield control & management, Modric is a vital piece.
In fact, the nerves of yesterdays situation was evident when in the last substitution for Mayoral there were 12 men on the field which the referee needed to point out to Zidane.
The Real Madrid Coach wants everyone to play & "rotates" players, this is fine, but his choice & moments are currently not fine tuned.
  • Injuries & suspensions: Since the start of Liga Vallejo, Varane, Kovecic, Benzema, Theo & yesterday Marcelo have fallen. In the suspension cataegory, Ronaldo suffered 5 matched, Ramos & Marcelo also missed games & all in important moments.
  • Lack of goal: Real Madrid is not converting their many opportunities. Some say Real Madrid has´nt a real Nº9 and perhaps that´s true, that figure Morata, was sold to Chelsea FC. Some are remembering Mbappe not coming this season, even Morata, at this point. The dependence on Cristiano Ronaldo is strong & if the Portuguese is not in form (or suspended) the team suffers upfront. Lastly, Bale unfortunately at this moment is not the answer & should not be playing.
  • The Clubs week after week insistence on referee decisions being a factor in their defeats is counter-productive. This is a dead end road & is diverting the focus & concentration from the "real causes". Politically this maybe a good tactic but in reality its a no player.
  • Defensive mistakes: this is an ongoing problem. For seasons Real Madrid is loose defensively & their overall goal power upfront covers up cosmetically their defensive limits. This area needs to be worked more & especially their defensive lapses in concentration throughout games.
Said all this, a string of victories will put all this into the past. It may well be just bad luck, a downer period which every Football team goes through or a bad collective psychological period. Sure things are about to change for the better soon & quicker if the about points are taken into account.

FC BARCELONA SIGNS NELSON SEMEDO FROM BENFICA

FC Barcelona has announced the signing of Nelson Semedo from Benfica. The right-back defender costs 30M€ plus 5M€ in variables to which the International signs for the next 5 years.

New FC barcelona player

Its the second highest payment made, behind Dani Alves, for a right-back by FC Barcelona in its History. The signing comes after the first choice Spanish International U/21 Hector Bellarin had the exit door shut by his current Club Arsenal FC.

The 23 year old defender is fast & strong & will compite with Alex Vidal for the position. Semedo was liked to Premier League Club Manchester United but preferred Barça.

REAL MADRID WINS ITS 33RD LIGA TITLE

REAL MADRID has proclaimed themselves Spanish Football - LaLiga - Champions season 2016-2017. The Club needed to win ( or draw ) against Malaga FC & they won 0 - 2 away in a fairly confortable & controlled match.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title

Its the 33rd Spanish League Title for Real Madrid, with another possible title up for grabs on the 3rd of June in Cardiff when they play Juventus FC in the UEFA Champions League Final. If Real Madrid can manage to win this game they will again make history winning back-to-back Champions League title.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title 2016-2017

The goalscorers tonight for Real Madrid were Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2nd min & Benzema in the 55th min.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title 2017

Real Madrid finishes the season strong with their star player Cristiano Ronaldo particularly "on fire". The Portuguese has adapted his style & position on the field to be more a Centre Forward than a winger. This has lifted his goal tally in the last matches & has steered his team onto this LaLiga Title. The squad & Coach Zidane has managed the last Round matches well.

Congratulations to Real Madrid!

REAL MADRID | SEALS DEFENDER THEO HERNANDEZ

The pearl of Atletico de Madrid, young 18 year old central defender THEO HERNANDEZ, has chosen Real Madrid as his next destination. The player currently on loan to Alaves has grown through all the age groups at Atletico & has exploded this year grabbing the attention of the big Clubs.

Although Atletico de Madrid was reluctant to sell initially, the entry of FC Barcelona & Real Madrid set off a price war that made the departure from Atletico less "painful". Theo Hernandez has forced the situation & has elected Real Madrid over Barça after a nice 36M€ & a 5 year contract offer, while Atletico will get around 30M€ for the transfer.

THEO HERNANDEZ Real Madrid

The player has apparently gone through the medical exam already & the signing will possibly be made official the end of the week or next after both At.Madrid & Real Madrid play the 2º leg of Champions League this Wednesday.

With the signing of Hernandez Real Madrid insures that the departure of defender Pepe will be well covered, while Ramos has a substitute in case of emergency. Plus the future is being set up for a Varane-Hernandez central defence set-up full of youth, speed & skill.

REAL MADRID | MBAPPE SAYS YES?

Its rumour period in Spanish Football & there is a relevant one doing the "mill". According to Spanish Sports daily "Marca", Monaco & young French sensation KYLIAN MBAPPE has given "green light" to REAL MADRID as his next destination.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid wants to announce a big signing for next season & Mbappe is the chosen player. The transfer operation for the 18 year old forward could be around the 100M € mark.

But this raises a question, where will Mbappe play? Real Madrid has World-class players in every position, who will give is "space" up for the Monaco player? Cristiano Ronaldo? Forget it. Benzema? Unlikely. Gareth Bale? Politically incorrect. What about other positions? Isco? Morata? James Rodriguez?

Makes you think, right?

What about the other hot names doing the Real Madrid signing "rumour mill": Hazard, Dybala, Griezmann... These names are also said to be very close.

As mentioned, its rumour time folks. Stay tuned!

REAL MADRID 2 FC BARCELONA 3 | BARÇA KEEPS LALIGA ALIVE

REAL MADRID 2 - FC BARCELONA 3 is the final result of the "Clasico" celebrated tonight as part of Round 33 of LaLiga. Real Madrid managed to turn an adverse result with 10 men, after Sergio Ramos was sent off with a red card, when just on substitute James Rodriguez scored the draw. It looked things would end this way, however Lionel Messi got the winner in the last minute to pour cold water over the "Santiago Bernabeu" Stadium.

The result opens the Liga title race as both currently share top spot of the classification ladder, with Real Madrid still keeping a game in hand which gives them a slight advantage. However, Real Madrid will now feel the pressure as a slip from here till the end of the season could see Barça overrun them for the Spanish Liga title

Real Madrid - FC Barcelona

Impressive game of Football that lived up to expectations. Tense & very competitive with both sides creating numerous goal opportunities. The goalkeepers from both teams were very active & played an important role for their sides as they stopped important goal chances.

Real Madrid - FC Barcelona

As expected a match full of controversies with red cards ( Casemiro & Marcelo ) not given & possible penalties not seen ( Umtiti on Ronaldo in the 2nd min). Plus Sergio Ramos was sent off in the 77th min which put Real Madrid in a clear disadvantage.

But the man of the match was Lionel Messi who caused the yellow card on Casemiro ( later taken off mid 2º half) & was the person Ramos fouled to be sent off. However, it was his two goals that steered his team onto the victory, scoring the winner in the 92nd min of the match.

Real Madrid also had players to mention: on the negative side Bale was substituted in the 33rd min when he fell injured, positively Carvajal was outstanding on his wing along with Marcelo & Kaylor Navas was a multi goal saver. Real Madrid missed many chances including very clear moments from Benzema hitting the post, Kroos & Modric deflected by Stegen with an over anxious Asensio missing opportunities. These failed attempts turned out to be costly in the end. Lastly Cristiano Ronaldo was not the decisive element of past "clasico games" & was missed.

Deserved win for Barça for their pure perseverance, & decisive Messi, who tipped the balance towards Barça to keep the Liga title race alive for his Club.

Goalscorers:
Casemiro 28th min, 1 - 0

Messi 33rd min, 1 - 1
Ratikic 73rd min. 1 - 2
James Rodriguez 86th min, 2 - 2
Messi 92nd min, 2 - 3

REAL MADRID - FC BARCELONA | POSSIBLE STARTING 11 LINE-UPS

Big day in Spanish Football with the REAL MADRID - FC BARCELONA clash tonight ("EL Clasico") which could decide the LaLiga title. Real Madrid has a game in hand still to be played & is 3 points ahead of Barça on the classification table. Apart from the points issue, both team will want the victory as this is a traditional rivalry that goes beyond Football & is highly charged with emotion.

REAL MADRID 1 ATLETICO MADRID 1 | ROUND 31 LA LIGA RESULT

Round 31 of LaLiga has scheduled big games, but the main attention grabber was the REAL MADRID vs ATLETICO DE MADRID derby that has finished in a 1 - 1 draw result. Bad result for Real Madrid as they still have FC Barcelona breathing down their necks for the Liga Championship Title, while Atletico will be happier as they escape Sevilla FC with another point in the race for the precious 3rd ladder place for next years direct ticket into Champions League.

Real Madrid

Deserved result the draw overall as both teams had their chances & the match shifted in favour of both sides throughout the 90 mins. Missed chances for both, especially for Real Madrid in critical moments, & great match saving saves from Atletico goalie Oblak which needs mentioning. Oblak is indeed a very good goalkeeper currently in World class level.

At Madrid

The first goal came from Pepe with a header in the 52 nd min to put his team ahead, while Griezmann managed the equalizer in the 85th min through a brilliant Correa pass.

Speaking of Griezmann, the Frenchman out shinned Cristiano Ronaldo in this match. The Frenchman is a valuable asset & perhaps worthy of his weight in gold. There is rumours of a Real Madrid interest in Griezmann, & though a transfer would be very complicated, a 100-120M€ offer would soften positions, while the player is certainly worth it. Cristiano Ronaldo on the other hand is beginning his "gradual" slide as all players of 30 plus age experience, not as decisive as in the past, although he did have two great goal chances.

Resuming, another great & entertaining city of Madrid clash that keeps La Liga Title race alive & very interesting.
