STARTING 11 SPAIN PORTUGAL 2010 WORLD CUP
To answer the many emails from readers asking about the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM starting 11 against PORTUGAL tonight, the very latest from media observers following the Spanish Football Team is that Coach Del Bosque will repeat with the same SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM PLAYERS that played against Chile.
The injury worries of Xabi Alonso , Ramos & too a lesser extent Torres had been overcome. Therefore, if things stay as speculated the SPANISH LINE UP - starting 11 will be:
Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Piqué, Puyol, Capdevila; Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi; Iniesta, Villa & Fernando Torres.
SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM STARTING 11 AGAINST PORTUGAL | FIFA WORLD CUP 2010
Hi everyone, the below image is XABI ALONSO training tonight with his team-mates which tells us that he is "basically" over his ankle worry & injury. This should help us speculated further that he will be part of the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM STARTING 11 AGAINST PORTUGAL for tomorrows "knock out" game.
In fact, media observers go as far as to name the following starting line-up against Portugal:
Iker Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Piqué, Puyol, Capdevila; Busquets, Xabi Alonso; Iniesta, Xavi, Villa; & Torres.
Worth reminding that this is still a rumour & speculation, & that changes may occur before kick off! Tweet

SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM STARTING 11 AGAINST PORTUGAL | REIGNING UNKNOWNS
The prognostics & speculations concerning what will be the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM STARTING 11 LINE UP against PORTUGAL is difficult to say as the teams advance in the WORLD CUP. Both sides are training behind closed doors & are keeping their cards very close to their chest. Media observers following the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM are speculating more than giving any reliable facts as they too are being “shut” out from the details. This is logical, as the stakes rise for the teams the more "secretive" things are as they advance & each looks for whatever advantage they can gain over their next rival.
Having said this, we are still able to get some clues & at least hypothetically think about a possible starting 11. Here are some facts from which we can build on:
1. Defender Raul Albiol is not contemplated under any circumstance due to a training injury that at first was believed more serious than what it really is; an ankle sprain of the ligaments
2. Xabi Alonso is racing against time to recovery from an ankle strain gained in the match against Chile. This will be a last minute decision as Xabi is evolving better than expected...but!
3. Fernando Torres should be ok after experiencing “muscle tiredness” against Chile.
4. Capdevila has demonstrated his age by falling physically in form towards the end of the games & he may be rested for the bigger games if Spain beats Portugal.
5. Ramos still feels pain in the ribs area. However, that should not stop him
From here a SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM starting 11 against Portugal can be speculated with a reasonable low error margin, but I reiterate it is hypothetical as Coach Del Bosque may have a “wild card “ up his sleeve:
Casillas, Ramos, Pique, Puyol , Arbeloa ( Capdevila, if not), Busquets, Xabi Alonso ( Javi Martinez, if not) , Xavi , Iniesta, David Villa & Fernando Torres (David Silva, if not)
There could be 2 “wildcard” decisions in the "air", very remote, but possible:
1. If Xabi Alonso doesn’t make it Coach Del Bosque could decide to go out more offensively & put in Cesc Fabregas
2. If Coach Del Bosque decides to play with only one forward – leave Torres on the bench – David Silva could come in / or Cesc Fabregas.
As you can see, crystal ball looking stuff at this point with reference in trying to figure out what could be the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM Starting 11 against Portugal. Tomorrow we may have more clues & thus I will fine-tune things as much as possible. Tweet
FC BARCELONA TRANSFER GOSSIP 2010 | OZIL ROBINHO MASCHERANO?
Local Spanish daily “AS” even gives details of the offer: 2 players Hleb & Henrique plus offer WERDER BREMEN a one year loan of Ozil. That is, Barça buys now & allows the youngster to continue developing his Football at his current Club to later incorporate into the Barça squad for the 2011- 2012 season.
Staying with FC BARCELONA & the transfer gossip circulating the European market, the Spanish Club has apparantly made MANCHESTER CITY A 22M€ offer for Brazilian International ROBINHO. Plus FC BARCELONA has made a preliminary offer of 25M€ to LIVERPOOL FC for Argentine International midfielder JAVIER MASCHERANO. Apparently the player is determined to play only for Barça if his current Club favours the move due to their economic difficulties.
Therefore stay tuned for developments, as these “news flashes” are just RUMOURS & SPECULATIONS; try keeping all this in mind before getting too excited with these reports. By the way, if FC Barcelona is making offers for Robinho, what about the reported almost shut transfer of Valencia CF & Spanish International Juan Mata? Tweet

SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM DEFEATS CHILE 1 - 2 TO FINISH TOP OF GROUP H
The objective has been achieved. SPAIN has defeated CHILE 1 -2 & finishes in 1ºst position of Group H, along with Chile, to go onto meet Portugal in the from now onwards "knock-out" stages. It wasn´t easy at all with Spain suffering from nerves from the start that were partially settled with the 1ºst goal by DAVID VILLA in the 24th min with a fantastic 30mt "lob shot" that puts him in the World Cup leading goal scorer catagory & brands him as one of the finest strikers in current World Football.
The SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM lifted its game with an impressive BUSQUETS controlling the midfield & the Chilean attacking moves, when a counter-attack finished with ANDRES INIESTA scoring the 2ºnd Spanish goal in the 37th min with a "sweet" outside the box in one swift move. During that Spanish play making goal occasion Chilean Estrada tackled hard a Spanish player which won him his second yellow card & was sent off leaving Chile with 10 men.
However, even with Chile down to 10 men & Spain up 2 goals, it wasn´t over & Chile managed to "rock" Spain early in the second half with a 47th min goal by MILLAR that brought back nerves into the Spanish team. Spanish Coach Del Bosque decided to make some changes to secure the midfield while Chile experienced a drop in physical form that stopped them going further onto the next level. From here Chile defended & Spain "wasted time" with touch Football awaiting the final whistle as both knew they were through to the next stage of the tournament.
Spain now goes onto meet Portugal on Tuesday & they are feeling great as players commented post match that the team had regained confidence & have recovered from the moral blow from their 1ºst game loss to Switzerland. This victory makes it all a clean slate & Spain can now put its mind towards taking things step by step & in getting better & better. Lets hope so. Tweet
SPAIN STARTING 11 LINE UP AGAINST CHILE | WORLD CUP 2010
This is the only area of doubt, if one defender or the other, as Coach Vicente Del Bosque has all his players fully fit & ready. One can only speculate at this point on the SSPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM STARTING 11 against CHILE:
Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila (or Arbeloa), Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, David Villa & Fernando Torres.
Good luck to SPAIN & may the better team win. If Spain cannot defeat Chile tonight they really don´t deserve to continue in the tournament ¿right? Tweet
DAVID SILVA AGREES TO MANCHESTER CITY OFFER?
It was already known that Valencia CF & Manchester City had come to an economic agreement, but the big unknown was if the player would agree to take up the English offer. In the last hours CHELSEA FC had come into the picture, plus David Silva was also still waiting & hoping to see if REAL MADRID would finally put life into the rumour of their interest, an interest that sadly for the player never materialized.
Finally, if it is true what Spanish radio has announced, David Silva is said to have accepted the Man City offer & thus we now await an official Club announcement to verify the transfer 100%.
We will - should - await the official announcements. Tweet
SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM LINE UP AGAINST CHILE | INIESTA FIT ARBELOA TO REPLACE CAPDEVILA
Surfed the Spanish press & checked all the comments from the media observers down South Africa following the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM & the news is that everyone is fit except SERGIO RAMOS. The defender received a heavy knock in the ribs against Switzerland & played with pain – killers against Honduras. A pre-match concern to keep following closely as apparently he was the only player not with the full SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM at last nights training session which was a “dress rehearsal” for the important Chile game tomorrow. However, he was training this morning & I am sure he will start even if he has to play with "pain killers" again.
The other news is that ANDRES INIESTA is expected to be back in the starting line up against Chile & that Arbeloa may come in to replace Capdevila. The Spanish Soccer Team seems concerned about their flanks & especially with young Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez who is fast & will need some special attention. Arbeloa is seen as a better “marker” than Capdevila who is more attacking & who is prone to tiredness if he has to race back every time to cover his position.
The other remaining doubt is if Spain plays upfront with Torres – Villa or just Villa. In the later case David Silva would be back in the starting line – up.
At this point of time I speculate – repeat that I speculate – that the SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM LINE UP against CHILE could be the following:
Casillas, Ramos, Pique, Puyol, Arbeloa, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, David Villa & Fernando Torres
( David Silvia if Spain plays with 1 forward upfront) Tweet

SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM LINE UP AGAINST CHILE | DAVID VILLA OFF THE HOOK & WILL BE AVAILABLE WITH INIESTA
Great news for the SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM & the prognostics for the STARTING LINE UP against Chile next Friday in the do or die game for SPAIN in Group H. The “FIFA Disciplinary Committee” has decided not to sanction Spanish International forward DAVID VILLA after TV cameras caught the Spaniard "fending off" with his hand Honduras defender Emilio Izaguirre who then made theater of events. The Honduras goalkeeper & the mentioned defender spent some minutes before the incident provoking & stepping on David Villa´s heals to which the Spanish forward reacted with a facial slap reminder & a “stop stepping on me” message.
The other good news is that midfielder ANDRES INIESTA is 100% fit & ready to retake his place in the team. Many observers covering the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM are speculating that Iniesta will be back in the STARTING 11 LINE UP against CHILE next Friday. Also there is a growing thought that perhaps Arbeloa will come in for left back defender Capdevila who showed signs of tiredness against Honduras, this is only speculation at this point of time. FC BARCELONA TRANSFER NEWS 2010 | TOURE TO MANCHESTER CITY | JUAN MATA PREFERRED OVER ROBINHO
FC BARCELONA is looking for a class “winger” to replace Thierry Henry & accompany new signing David Villa in their forward line next season. Two names had been circling the office tables at “Camp Barça”: 26 year old Brazilian International & Manchester City player ROBINHO & 22 year old Valencia CF & Spanish International JUAN MATA.
According to Barcelona radio station “Onda Cero” the chosen player is JUAN MATA & FC Barcelona may have already come to an agreement for the transfer of the player for around 20M€ with a 5 year contract. The final decision is reported to have been made by Coach Guardiola who considers Mata an exceptional player with speed, dribbling skills & plenty of goal.
Stay tuned, as most observers point to an imminent official announcement.
FC BARCELONA has come to an agreement to sell & transfer to MANCHESTER CITY their midfielder & Ivory Coast International player TOURE YAYA for 30M€ plus an extra 2M€ in variable incentives. The powerful midfielder fell out of grace with Barça Coach Guardiola during the past season when he began to pass more time on the bench than on the playing field.
The rumour around Barcelona town is that FC Barcelona will now employ the 32M€ cash inflow to attempt to convince LIVERPOOL FC to sell their Argentine midfielder JAVIER MASCHERANO. The current Argentina National Team Captain has been a long time desire of Coach Guardiola & now the Club sees the opportunity & became the "perfect" substitute for the departed Toure.

WORLD CUP 2010 | SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM STATISTICS | GOAL SCORING INEFFECTIVENESS
A few statistics so far from the 2010 WORLD CUP & on the SPANISH WORLD CUP TEAM performance. According to figures published by local Spanish Sports paper "Marca", the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM is the most attacking & play making team up till now. One would think looking at the numbers that SPAIN would be cruising comfortably if you had not seen any game so far in the tournament. However, the reality is that Spain plays its future next Friday against Chile & has only scored 2 goals.
This is the big problem facing the SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM, their lack of ability in converting their dominanting & overpowering offensive - attacking actions/plays into goals. For exapmle, 49 shots at goal & only 2 goals to show for it. Have a look at the statistics below:
SPAIN 2010 WORLD CUP TEAM LEADS IN THE FOLLOWING CATAGORIES:
Crosses into the Goal Area: 1º Jesús Navas 35
Plays In The Goal Area: 1º Jesús Navas 7, 2º Villa 6
Individual Actions/Plays: 1º Xabi Alonso 226
Passing to Wingers: 1º Xabi Alonso 36, 2º Xavi 32
Passes: 1º Xabi Alonso 172, 2º Xavi 153
Total Passes: 1º Xabi Alonso 186, 2º Xavi 176
Assistances: 1º Spain 30
Corners in Favour: 1º Spain 24
Passes into the Goal Area: 1º Spain 112
Arrival into the Goal Area: 1º Spain 139
Minutes of Favourable Ball Possession: 70 min
Shots at Goal: 1º Spain 49
Actions /Plays (Teams): 1º Spain 1748
Passes (Teams): 1º Spain 1114 2º Germany 981
Passes to Wings (Teams): 1º Spain 133
Total Passes (Teams): 1º Spain 1327, 2º Germany 1147
Actions /Plays with success : 1º Spain 32
Obviously, Spain needs to solve its "goal scoring problems".
A paradox in Football terms. We may find ourselves witnessing that the Team that plays the most offensive & touch Football in the World Cup Tournament may be eliminated this Friday if they do not defeat Chile. As the saying goes Football is a "strange" & "unpredictable" game, perhaps there lies its greatness. Tweet

SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM | SPAIN 2 HONDURAS 0 | WORLD CUP 2010 GROUP H | VIDEO DAVID VILLA GOALS
The objective was achieved, SPAIN won 2-0 HONDURAS in their second Group H match, which the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM needed to win at all costs to avoid going home prematurely. The other objective was to score goals in order to avoid a possible 3 team table draw on points within the Group & ensure the Spanish classification via a greater goal figure. This last plan was partially achieved with the 2 goals scored but the sour taste left in the mouth post match was the amount of chances-opportunities that Spain did not materialize into more goals.
The fact was, that Spain should have won this game with more than six goals; there was a post by David Villa, a missed penalty by David Villa, Fernando Torres missing 3 clear chances, Sergio Ramos not scoring a pair, Xavi not getting a clear header & so on & so on. This lack of goal finishing & an alarming drop in physical form of the Spanish National Team in the last 20 minutes of the game are factors to take note, study & rectify urgently if Spain are to go on in the tournament & attempt to defeat Chile in their last game of Group H to ensure their qualification. This last feat will not be easy at all as Chile is clearly in better form with more rhythm even if Spain is the better Football playing team, which will mean nothing if Spain cannot score goals.
The much awaited & needed first goal for the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM came in the 16th min after "Man of The Match" DAVID VILLA scored a fabulous individual goal that calmed the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM nerves & give an important mental boost that all "Strikers" need to lift their confidence & break the "ice".
From here it was a cascade of missed opportunities that frustrated more than lifted the Spanish spirits. Fernando Torres who started was promising , hard working but out of syncronization as he failed some real sitters that I personally could not explain except that he still needs a few more games under his belt.
The second half saw Honduras go out strong & shake a "relaxed" Spanish Team the first 5 mins which reacted with a counter-attcak to which DAVID VILLA finished scoring his second goal in the 51st min. The Spaniards were back on a roll, & soon won a penalty when Navas was floored in the penalty area to give Villa his chance to grab a "hat-trick". To everyones surprised Villa missed & it looked as if the SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM was jinxed with the goal.
Spanish National Coach Del Bosque made some chances by taking off Fernando Torres exhausted from his 1ºst half running , Sergio Ramos & Xavi. This last change effected the midfield as it lacked from here onwards a clear ladder to pass the ball with a clear precision operation style. In fact, the evolving observation was the alarming sudden drop in the physical form that made the Spaniards look slow & lethargic, even with 3 fresh players on.
Conclusion, the end result is definately positive with a vital victory, & that the SPAIN NATIONAL TEAM still has its chances wide open to keep going on, a fate in their hands as they will need to win Chile to achieve that goal. The worrying aspect is their lack of definition in the final play & lack of goal converting which they could pay dearly if not solved. This & the very worrying drop in their physical fittness towards the end of the game, doesn´t give the observer lots of confidence that Spain will actual win Chile. The last Group H game against Chile looks set to be a grand battle & a dangerous one at that as Spain will not have it easy at all. I feel that if Spain can defeat Chile that they will again become firm favourites to take this World Cup, said differently, defeating Chile makes it the "ultimate" game.

SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM LINE UP 11 AGAINST HONDURAS | JESUS NAVAS FERNANDO TORRES
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Jesus Navas, Fernando Torres & David Villa
Source: Spanish Ftball Sprts /
The very latest news coming out from the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM camp at South Africa is that there will be two changes in the starting line-up that lost against Switzerland 1-0 in the opener of Group H.
Spanish midfielders Andres Iniesta & David Silva are the players who are speculated that will be left out of the SPAIN FOOTBALL WORLD CUP TEAM STARTING 11 LINE UP against HONDURAS making room for JESUS NAVAS & FERNANDO TORRES. If this is true the Spain World Cup starting 11 would look like this:
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Jesus Navas, Fernando Torres & David Villa
A more attacking line-up indeed seeing the objective here is to score goals, & plenty. Many readers may be thinking where & when will Cesc Fabregas get a start or a run in this competition. I am thinking the same, as Coach Del Bosque seems to have an unbending faith in the Busquets /Xabi Alonso midfield duo.
MOTO GP | JORGE LORENZO & MARQUEZ WINNERS IN BRITISH MOTOGP
JORGE LORENZO put himself ahead of the race in the first turn passing Spaniard Dani Pedrosa & never looked back. In fact, the race had its exciting "battle" for the 2º & 3º place which eventually went to Dovizioso & third to Ben Spies. Spanish rider Dani Pedrosa had a deceptional day & race finishing 8th.
Jorge Lorenzo opens up a gap with the lead in the current GP World Championships table:
1. Lorenzo 115pts ; Dovizioso 78pts; 3. D.Pedrosa 73 pts.
MOTO2 catagory saw Cluzel win ahead of Luthi with Spaniard SIMÓN coming in third. The current Moto 2 World Championship table has Spanish rider TONI ELIAS first with 80pts , with Japanese rider Tomizawa second with 65 pts foloowed by Luthi with 53 pts
Great race in the 125cc catagory with Spaniard MARQUEZ winning his 2º straight race ahead of another Spaniard ESPARGARÓ who was second with Brit Smith coming in third. Spanish riders dominant the top places of the World Championship classification table:
1. Espargaró 98pts; 2. Terol 98 pts; 3. Marquez 82 pts. Tweet
SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM | FERNANDO TORRES "I AM REDAY"
After the SPAIN was “surprisingly” defeated 0 – 1 in their opening Group H match by Switzerland the “pandora box” of passionate Football observers was opened which released various “opinions” of the why & how to solve things. Ex-Spanish National Team Coach Luis Aragones was one of the first "ghosts" from the past to voice his opinion, the Spanish media was unleashed to give their ideas & the millions that make up the population had their opportunity to pour their hearts out with their passion & multiple solutions to the perceived Spain World Cup Team difficulties.
Does Spain really need to touch the ball so much? Is ´nt it better a more direct Football? Why does Xabi Alonso & Busquets play together? Where is Cesc Fabregras? Spain needs Jesus Navas? ... dozens of questions with one that also stands out: does Spain play better with two forwards? When will Fernando Torres be put in from the start up-front with David Villa.
FERNANDO TORRES has spoken & the current Liverpool FC striker said:
"Estoy listo…” (I´m ready)!
Great news, especially for Spanish World Cup Team Coach Vicent Del Bosque who has another option to think about before the “FINAL” & the second must win match of Group H against Honduras.
In fact, speculation is ripe within the Spanish media with their self proclaimed prognostics of what will be – better said should be – the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM STARTING 11 LINE UP against Honduras. Everyone is betting that Coach Del Bosque will make two changes:
1. Leave out defensive midfielder Busquets for this particular game & put in FERNANDO TORRES
2. Save midfielder Andres Iniesta for the vital Chile match & put into the starting line-up JESUS NAVAS or CESC FABREGAS
Coach Vicente Del Bosque is keeping his cards hidden with either Navas or Fabregas, but it all looks clear that Fernando Torres will be given his chance to perform on the World Cup 2010 stage & allow him to help give Spain the goals, speed & firepower upfront to secure the needed win or die victory against Honduras.

REAL MADRID TRANSFER RUMOURS | SCHWEINSTEIGER ATERNATIVE FOR GERRARD DI ROSSI?
The World Cup is a showcase, this cannot be denied, as players revalue themselves with a couple of good performances. Todays front cover of Spanish Sports daily “AS” splashes the news that REAL MADRID has noted the name of 25 year old German International midfielder SCHWEINSTEIGER as an alternative if the Spanish Club encounters problems attempting to sign Englishman Steven Gerrard or Italian Di Rossi. Apparently , new Real Madrid Coach José Mourinho sees the German as the ideal alternative as the two other names fall into the complex & difficult negotiation bag. The estimated transfer price is around 30M€ & the added value of the BAYEN MUNICH player is his young age. However, their is a Spanish alternative name, Javi Martinez of At Bilbao, but he hasn´t as yet debuted in the World Cup & this could be the stage to attempt to change the minds of a few at Real Madrid.

SPANISH WORLD CUP TEAM LINE UP AGAINST HONDURAS | STAYING TRUE TO PLAYING STYLE & PHILOSOPHY
The latest news from the SPAIN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM is that Coach Vicente De Bosque has commented that he believes 100% in the playing style of the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM , that Spain will continue with its playing "Touch Football" philosophy & believes wholeheartedly in the starting 11 that played the opening game of Group H against Switzerland were Spain lost 0-1.
This has been interpreted by the mayority of observers as a hint that the SPAIN STARTING 11 against HONDURAS will be the same as against Switzerland. In fact, the Spanish World Cup Team Coach Del Bosque went on to defend his field placements, especially Xabi Alonso who he says is the 2º top goalscorer with 8 goals , behind David Villa, since he has taken over the team.
I am personally surprised by the observers/media comments above, as I think that it may be an interesting idea & opportunity for Spain to put in CESC FABREGAS for defensive midfielder Busquets , or in the place of Cesc perhaps line up FERNANDO TORRES in the Spanish Football Team starting 11 team line up for Honduras. In fact , I don´t discount the possiblity at all of seeing either Fabregas or Torres starting & that Del Bosque could be playing with a "poker face". Spain needs to go all out & score goals against Honduras in case the goal difference between teams becomes the determinating factor to qualify from the Group. Two defensive midfielders - Busquets & Xabi Alonso - just doesn´t make sense when goals are the objetive.
Either way, one respects the decisions of the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM trainers with who ever, & in what combinations, they decide to start against with Honduras. Tweet
SPAIN TEAM LINE UP AGAINST HONDURAS | THE BASE INTACT WITH POSSIBLE "FINE TUNING"
The SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM is back at its HQ & training to meet next Monday Honduras in their 2º game of Group H. This match has become a FINAL as a loss here will virtually condemn the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM to arrive back home before expected & craete the biggest upset of the 2010 World Cup. In fact SPAIN has to score plenty of goals because there is a “mathematical” possibility that 3 teams could end up with the same points & goal difference will then be the key.
While the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM regroups, the great news is the ANDRES INIESTA is OK & fit, plus SERGIO RAMOS is fine & has no problems with his ribs. The “philosophical” debate now is whether Spain plays with 2 “contention” midfielders in their game against Honduras. The debate has opened after the surprise defeat against Switzerland where Spain went in with Xabi Alonso & Busquets in the starting 11 , with many observers commenting that perhaps just 1 “contention” midfielder would have been enough to allow put another attacker upfront.
The SPAIN TEAM LINE UP against Honduras could well see a “slight” modification. Honduras in theory is the less strong team of the group & Spain will need to score plenty of goals. Therefore, Busquets may be sacrificed for this particular game to have either attacking Cesc Fabragas or Fernando Torres starting from the beginning. This is the local talk at the moment, but it is pure speculation at this stage with the Honduras game still 3 days away.
What is certain is the every match from now on for the SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM will be a particular final, circumstance that happens & unfortunately occurs when a team doesn’t win its opening Group game. Now it is all uphill & with a load of pressure on the teams back as the immediate “short-term” objective is to qualify from their Group. If this objective can be reached it then becomes a more even playing field with all teams in this stage under the same pressure, same chances & in the same “Football - Soccer Casino”. Tweet
SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM | WORLD CUP 2010 | THE "TROLLS" APPEAR FOR THEIR FEAST DAY
It is customary that when an event goes against the expected, the “TROLLS” see their chance to come out from under their rock & grab the limelight that they so dearly miss. SPAIN lost yesterday 1-0 against Switzerland in their opening Group H game that went against all prognostics & created the first “shock-wave” of this FIFA World Cup 2010.
Firstly, congratulations to Switzerland who followed their studied game plan: defend with 9 - 10 players & await the chance to counter-attack to try their luck. That is what occurred, 4 counter-attacks & the winning goal, while Spain arrival 25 times & hit the cross-bar but lost. That’s Football; Soccer for our American, South African, and Australasian readers; it is the very nature of this wonderful game that has the World totally focused & absorbed.
As expected, when things go well everyone pats your back but when something goes wrong, the jealous, the bitter & the forgotten are the first to put on their steel tipped boots to kick you in the balls with an ironic: “I told you so”.
Yes, the Spanish National Football Team yesterday went in:
1. Perhaps over-confident. The Coach should have done more psychology.
2. With a midfielder (Xabi – Busquets) that could have been less. Conservative perhaps?
3. Without a “killer”-“winning” mentality
4. Didn’t manage the game & the times. They were out smarted by "old fox" Hitzfeld
5. Should have played with two forwards
6. The substitutions were late & bad. Why not put in tall Llorente if you put in Navas as a winger to cross the ball into the square.
The list could be endless; it is a simple labour with hindsight, something that only the immortal gods have over the rest of us mortals.
Yesterday, one of these apparent Gods, ex-Spanish National Selector & Coach Luis Aragones, was the first to crawl out of his hole to give his Troll like comments & analysis. The European Nations Cup 2008 winning Coach gave his democratically given opinions which were in line with the above but with venom that only dangerous “animals” store to defend themselves from attack, but this animal attacks when motivated.
The man did us a favour that we are all grateful & he goes into history for it. It was Luis Aragones who decided & publicly announced before the Euro 2008 competition that he would leave the Spanish National Team. He then later retracted on his decision when he won the Euro 2008 Championship, but the Spanish Football Federation had already found a substitute to put in his place, Vicente Del Bosque, it was simply too late for Mr. Aragones.
Yesterday with Al Jazeera Luis Aragones said (along with other criticism)... "El problema viene de lejos, no es de ayer..." ("The problem comes from afar, not from yesterday…”). Of course he is correct & comes from afar, it comes from the built-up bitterness & anger of watching someone else sit were you decided to leave prematurely. It comes from the jealousy from sitting in a commentary box & not being able to walk the grass of the field. It comes from a man who has a historical record of being verbally violent, disrespectful with fellow professionals, uneducated & unethical.
The man, like the rest of us, has a democratic right to make opinions, he in fact could be very much correct with his words, for his knowledge of Football is not questioned. But the timing, the forms & the thought-out manner are not called for, not at this moment when the Spanish National Team & his peer Coach Del Bosque needs support & confidence for the difficult road ahead.
Trolls are trolls, & like Luis Aragones, many have come out of the sewerage system to voice their after match opinions. No one said the World Cup would be a simple affair, the beauty of Sport is that the “under-dogs” do & can win, & in the end of the day it is only a Sport, emotional & passionate as Football is , but only a game.
From here I send my best desires & best wishes to the Spanish National Football Team. I am confidence the Spanish World Cup Team will bounce back, I don’t know how far they will get in the tournament , but their style & class is not in doubt & not questioned. What happens is that there are 31 excellent teams all thinking the same: to win the 2010 World Cup. Tweet
WORLD CUP 2010 GROUP H RESULT | SPAIN 0 SWIZERLAND 1 | FIRST SHOCKWAVE FROM SOUTH AFRICA | VIDEO GOAL
The winning goal from GELSON in the 52nd min that finally gave SWITZERLAND the 1-0 victory over SPAIN & consequently produce the first real shockwave in this 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP. Here is the VIDEO of the Switzerland goal that came after a series of unlucky rebounds that allowed a "smart" Gelson to put his boot in first for glory:
The SPANISH WORLD CUP TEAM "knockers" will now be having their field day; the next hours & days will be a series of harsh criticisms ( "I told you so" ) that will overwhelm the positives aspects of todays match for the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM. Before the analisis, congratulations to Switzerland for their victory, & what cannot be doubted is their solid defence & tactical positioning that worked so well today. If a team in this World Cup - of the 7 games to get into the final - is allowed to lose one game this match is the clash that Spain is allowed to lose, as from here they must win them all. This will unfortunately put on pressure that could have been avoided if the result had finished in a draw or a win. However, what is done , is done & the only way to go is forward.
The negative points:
1. Andres Iniesta injured again; lets hope it is not serious, but it is a set back.
2. Slow in the finishing & not sharp up front to finish the work. Lack of tempo.
3. Falling into the old Football trap...if you dont take your chances, you end up losing.
Should have finished their chances, the "killer instinct" was sadly missing today.
Spain had more than 70% of ball possesion & made more than 20 attempts at goal, while Switzerland managed to reach the Spanish goal around 4 times & scored. A goal that could have been a second had the post & Defender Pique not intervened. This is the resume of the match.
The positive:
1. Spain was the dominate team even if they did lose by a goal. Plenty of margin for bettering & "greasing the machine".
2. This will bring the team "down to earth" & strenghen the team mentality. A good "warning sign".
3. Fernando Torres who came on in the second half , showed some good signs & the rhythm will come with more games. Will get better.
4. The touch Football philosophy still remains solid as identity & team personality & things will fall their way.
Spain now will meet Honduras next Monday - 21st of June - in a must win match. Lose here & we can certainly give a prize to the countless critics who have waited for this moment to spit out all their critical vemon.
I´m positive, calm & see this as a "reality correction" & result that will help to clear in minds of the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM players & help bring back some focus. The SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM has more talent than most in this tournament , better Football & proven quality. Lets place this down to a bad day at work with some unlucky events ( the Xabi Alonso crackers hit the bar & it could have been the equalizer) & that Spain will bounce back. Tweet
SPAIN STARTING 11 WORD CUP TEAM AGAINST SWITZERLAND | A MATTER OF STATE - ALMOST!
It’s the million dollar question: which SPANISH FOOTBALL PLAYERS are the candidates to take the place of FC Barcelona midfielder ANDRES INIESTA in the SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM STARTING LINE UP against Switzerland in the Group H opening game? Seems like a question of state as Spain builds up internally with excitement & with contained anxiety awaiting that things start happening along with a positive opening result that is so important in a tournament of this dimension.
Who do you think will take the place of Andres Iniesta if he does not start? From left to right: Jesus Navas, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas or Juan Mata:
The very latest news is that Iniesta trained 100% & in theory is fine. But Spanish Coach Vicente Del Bosque has replied to the media question: “Iniesta? I have to think in the World Cup , not only Switzerland” This would suggest that Del Bosque could be thinking in sitting Andres Iniesta & not risking the player in this match to call him up for the other important games.
This is the most likely Spain starting 11, with the already mentioned unknown:
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Xavi, Busquest, Xabi Alonso, David Silva, Iniesta ?????? ( ) & David Villa
Either way, while the Spanish Press build up some sort of "National social alarm" with the “Andres Iniesta factor”, everyone knows that there are other excellent players available to choose from who are ready to perform & be up to the top level required. What´s important here is that Spain gets a victory tomorrow to settle the nerves, build confidence & send a message to all other Nations competing that they are here for serious business , with or without Andres Iniesta.
Spain will no doubt come to a partial halt tomorrow around 16.00 hrs with the kick-off against Switzerland. I wish the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM all the luck in the World – that is , the World Cup! Tweet
ATLETICO DE MADRID 2010 - 2011 PLAN | ROD FANNI RIGHT BACK LUIS FELIPE LEFT BACK PLUS A MIDFIELDER
Straight from the horses mouth, metaphorically speaking, as ATLETICO DE MADRID President Enrique Cerezo has said publicly that he thinks that signing of 28 year old French defender ROD FANNI of STADE RENNES is close. The Spanish Club President said that Atletico is currently negotiating with the French Club & things are moving forward but he could not tell when they would come to good port. Simply said, President Cerezo commented that we will have to wait for further news.
To this Atletico de Madrid is also looking to strengthen the Left Back position with Brazilian & DEPORTIVO defender LUIS FELIPE the chosen player. Deportivo has a “hard nut to crack” reputation when it comes to negotiating with its players & it may take more than habitual time to conclude this particular operation.
Lastly, President Cerezo also added that to the Right & Left Back positions, a midfielder is on the list of next season signings, but could not give a name.

SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM | 2010 | TWO HYPOTHETICAL SPAIN STARTING TEAM LINE-UPS
Here is a simple video of the SPAIN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM PLAYERS getting on a bus direction city of Durban where tomorrow they kick-off their Group H match against Switzerland. Last news from the SPAIN PLAYERS is that they are anxious to get going as naturally the tension is mounting inside to begin playing some Football.
The other great news is that ANDRES INIESTA trained the whole session yesterday which is a very positive sign that recovery is almost gone its course. However, SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM Selector & Coach Vicente Del Bosque will have the last say if he plays tomorrow as he may not wish to risk Iniesta for the opening game & be sure to have less risk in the other games scheduled later on. This unknown gives us two hypothetical starting team line-up scenarios:
A) Possible starting SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM LINE UP – with Iniesta:
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Xavi, Busquest, Xabi Alonso, David Silva, Iniesta & David Villa
B) Possible starting SPAIN SOCCER WORLD CUP 2010 TEAM LINE UP – WITHOUT Iniesta:
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Pique, Capdevila, Xavi, Busquest, Xabi Alonso, David Silva, MATA or JESUS NAVAS & David Villa
Lastly, in reference to FERNANDO TORRES, one remembers how with Liverpool FC the forward injured himself again after coming back too early & suffering damage in his knee again in Champions League. Everyone is being cautious & wishes not to repeat the some mistake & thus will be gradually given minutes to help lift his rhythm. For the Torres fans, be patient as he will appear, & be reminded that SPAIN has many talented midfield /forwards to fill in the position. Tweet

SPAIN LINE UP FOR WORLD CUP 2010 | WILL OR WILL NOT ANDRES INIESTA PLAY IN THE GROUP H STARTER?
Many media observers have three theories:
1. The National Coach Del Bosque is hiding his playing cards & is bluffing. I think this is very unlikely from Del Bosque’s part - although never to be discarded.
2. That National Coach Del Bosque does not wish to risk the player so early from his recovery & suffer the possibility of having Iniesta fall again into a worst injury. This is more likely.
3. Following point 2. that Valencia CF player JUAN MATA will be the person who will fill in the place of Andres Iniesta against Switzerland. This idea comes from the training sessions that Coach Del Bosque has put together & the composition of players in the training games that placed Juan Mata in the theorical starting line-up.
Said all this, no one knows for certain what will be the the final SPAIN TEAM LINEUP for Switzerland until the actual kick-off.
Here is the SPAIN WORLD CUP STARTING 11 according to Spanish media observers after watching the last training sessions. As mentioned this is totally HYPOTHETICAL & thus should be taken as such at this moment:
Casillas, Ramos, Piqué, Puyol, Capdevila, Xavi, Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Silva, Villa & Mata ( Iniesta???) Tweet
FC BARCELONA | SANDRO ROSELL NEW PRESIDENT
The chart below shows the final voting results:
The note here is that the candidate of outgoing President Laporta - Ferrer - finished last in the voting. This indicates that the most successful President in the history of FC Barcelona titles wise was also one of the most unpopular. A paradox indeed. Tweet
SPANISH FOOTBALL | REAL SOCIEDAD SPANISH 1º DIVISION TEAM NEXT SEASON ALONG WITH LEVANTE
With one more Round left Hercules & Real Betis are locked in a fierce battle to be the lucky third team to be promoted, but Hercules has the goal advantage. This means that Hercules needs to win next week to virtually secure their place in the Spanish 1º Division next season.
At the bottom of the ladder Castellon is already demoted but there is a long list of other candidates to be the other three teams that fall into 2ºB Division alongside. Theses include teams as Real Union, Cadiz, Las Palmas, Murcia, Salamanca, Albacete, Huesca & Girona.
Congratulations to Real Sociedad & Levante & welcome to “La Liga”. Next week we will know finally which other team joins them, & which teams join Castellon to fall into 2ºB Division. Tweet
