Spanish Football Sports Blog started out many years back as a way off getting across to the World fans news on Spanish Football & Spanish Sports in English. I realized that not everyone understands Spanish & decided to write in English to get across to a wider audience. I too years back "suffered" from not being able to get updated news when living overseas & missed a source that would give me quick bullets (summaries) of information on results, news, transfers...& Spanish National Football team endevours.

This blog is a one man effort, a hobby, & I have enjoyed it enourmously since starting. I have learnt, shared, inter-changed ideas, been written by the most fascinating people from around the globe & expanded the channels via Social Media which has given a wider & diverse audience.

Today the blog celebrates its 3.000.000 visitors. This a figure that was beyond my thoughts at the beginning & thus from here I would like to thank all the regular readers for their support & all the visiting readers for coming in & sharing. THANK YOU!

THE INTERNET READERS BEST 11 SPANISH LIGA PLAYERS FOR 2011-2012

More than 73.000 people voted on Spanish Sports online channel "marca.com" for what they believed to be the "Best 11 Players" of the Spanish Football League season 2011-2012.

As you can see the list is dominanted by Real Madrid & FC Barcelona players, with the exceptions being Javi Martinez (At.Bilbao) & Falcao (At.Madrid). A list that does not depart to much from reality as all the voted players have indeed put in a grand season.

UEFA | IDEAL 11 TEAM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 - 2011

UEFA has handed in their "IDEAL BEST 11 TEAM" for this season 2010-2011 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE . The list is dominated by Manchester United & FC Barcelona players, as one would expect, plus two from Real Madrid & representatives from Shakthar & Tottenham.

But the notable surprise is the absence of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, whose place has been give to veteran Spanish Football player, ex - Real Madrid & now Schalke 04 forward RAUL.

SPANISH FOOTBALL SPORTS BLOG reaches a historical milestone that I never even would have imagined when I began this wonderful adventure. Today the site-statistics show that the blog has passed 2,000,000 historical unique visits.


Mind blowing for myself with a site that reaches the global & has readers from all the continents. I can only say THANK YOU, for your support, loyalty, fantastic comments & all the hard edged criticisms. Whatever the case, promoting Spanish Football & Sports has been the prime motive & the aim has always been to get it out to all four corners of the World in English so you dont have to miss out on anything even if you don´t command the wonderful language of Spanish.

Thanks to all the supportive e-mails from Spaniards overseas who say that their daily dose of updates comes directly from this site. Thank you , thank you...

With your support, I will now try for the 3,000,000 mark, although the objective is already achieved if only one, just one person from here onwards visits & gets his/ her daily dose of Spanish Football news. I am beginning the challenge from this very moment...

I would never have imagined this "hobby" would get so far. Hi guys. Slow day here in Spain today with the Spanish Football - Soccer news. The only big thing hitting the Spanish Sports papers are the alleged & supposed "doping" acusations to the three time Spanish Tour De France cyclist Alberto Contador. Something he denies as "food contamination" & that the ICU has to study further with more examinations. Remember, one is innocent until proven guilty.

Huge campaigns happening in the city of Barcelona as FC BARCELONA prepare to host INTER MILAN tomorrow in their 2º leg CHAMPIONS LEAGUE semi-finals clash, with the Italians enjoying a 1-3 aggregate advantage. The Club has called their member to fill up the “Camp Nou” & convert it into the “Personal Hell” for Inter for the 90 playing minutes. They are citing the spirit of the "comeback" & to over come adversity.

REAL MADRID DISMISSES AN AGREEMENT WITH CRISTIANO RONALDO ON ITS WEB. DO YOU BELIEVE IT?

SFS knows, yes I know. Your absolutely tired of the speculations &
rumours that appear daily in reference to CRISTIANO RONALDO &
REAL MADRID. The player continually flirts with a categorical NO,
and then he drops a line that has a cryptic inclining that leaves you
wondering. The media in England & especially in Spain are
convinced & have been for months that there is a pre-contract
signed by the player with the Spanish Club & that MANCHESTER
UNITED agreed – as a promise to Ronaldo for staying another year
– to sell him at the end of this season for 100M€ to Real.

The very latest is that Real Madrid ex President & now again
candidate Florentino Perez will attempt to change the conditions

of that suspected pre-contract & lower the transfer fee with the
commissions. The assured next President of Real Madrid has the OK
from Bayern Munich French International Franck Ribery & is
pressuring Cristiano Ronaldo & his team to give in & lower their
economic pretensions.

Today – this afternoon – a new twist in the Cristiano Ronaldo /
Real Madrid saga. The Spanish Club has posted on its web that
there is absolutely NO pre-contract with the Portuguese player
or Manchester United. That all rumours are unfounded & without
base & that Real knows already that Manchester United does not
wish to sell its star.

What does this all mean?

Firstly, it could be true, but SFS doubts it.

Secondly, Real Madrid is protecting its back from a FIFA sanction
for talking with a player who has a contract with another Club.

Thirdly, that the pre-contact has a secrecy clause that would
break it if it all becomes public.

Fourthly, Real Madrid wish to send a "goodwill" sign to Manchester
United with 5 days left for their clash against FC Barcelona in the
European Cup Final.

These are my reasons & opinions. SFS could be entirely wrong, along
with the rest of the World Football media. What do you think?
