SPANISH FOOTBALL | REAL SOCIEDAD SPANISH 1º DIVISION TEAM NEXT SEASON ALONG WITH LEVANTE

SPANISH FOOTBALL has´nt as yet finished even though the Spanish 1º Division finished weeks back. The Spanish 2º Division continues & tonight we can announce that REAL SOCIEDAD (pictured celebrating below) & LEVANTE are SPANISH 1º DIVISION TEAMS for next season after earning the coveted promotion. Real Sociedad won 2-0 Celta de Vigo maintaining them as classification leaders & 2º placed Levante won 3-1 Castellon to secured them the silver position of the ladder & the promotion.

With one more Round left Hercules & Real Betis are locked in a fierce battle to be the lucky third team to be promoted, but Hercules has the goal advantage. This means that Hercules needs to win next week to virtually secure their place in the Spanish 1º Division next season.

At the bottom of the ladder Castellon is already demoted but there is a long list of other candidates to be the other three teams that fall into 2ºB Division alongside. Theses include teams as Real Union, Cadiz, Las Palmas, Murcia, Salamanca, Albacete, Huesca & Girona.

Congratulations to Real Sociedad & Levante & welcome to “La Liga”. Next week we will know finally which other team joins them, & which teams join Castellon to fall into 2ºB Division.

FC BARCELONA | PEP GUARDIOLA MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO AGAINST VALLADOLID | SPANISH LEAGUE ROUND 38 2009 / 2010

Original Blog Source: Sp Ftball Sprt /
FC BARCELONA Coach Pep Guardiola asked a mate at Cataluña TV3 to make another motivational video for his players to screen before the vital Spanish League Round 38 game against Valladolid were a win was a must in order to secure the Liga title. Here is the VIDEO done by Santi Padró:

A curious observation. If you or I uploaded a video on YouTube with the music on this original, you would be more than likely censored by the corresponding record companies & YouTube. They must be all Barça fans :o)

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009-2010 | ROUND 38 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Source: Spanish Soccer /
The Spanish League - Liga - & season 2009 /2010 ended tonight for 10 teams as they played the Saturday Round 38 games, which the rest scheduled for tomorrow. The conclusions tonight are the Sevilla FC pick up "in extremis" the 4ºth Champions League table spot over Mallorca & that Getafe joins the latter for the Europa League table positions.

MALLORCA needed to win & have Sevilla FC lose or draw to grab the 4ºth Champions League table spot. They did the job defeating ESPANYOL 2-0 with goals from VICTOR in the 23rd min & SUAREZ in the 77th min. However, Sevilla FC won their game & snatched their Champions League dreams away as they finish 5th on the table for the Europa League.

SEVILLA FC needed to win to take away the Champions League 4ºth table position from Mallorca & they did this in the very last minute when RODRI scored in the 93rd min to give Sevilla FC a 2-3 victory over ALMERIA . It was an exciting game that went to the wire with KANOUTE scoring in the 15th min & CHICO an own goal for Sevilla. Almeria kept coming back & equalized twice via SORIANO in the 43rd & ORTIZ in the 78th min. Sevilla got nervious & lost Negredo to a red card & just when everything was lost for Sevilla & Champions miles away, Rodri scored the winner in the last moment! Now it is onto the Spanish Cup Final for Sevilla against Atletico de Madrid on Wednesday.

ATLETICO DE MADRID received GETAFE with their heads in next Wednesdays Spanish Cup Final against Sevilla FC & put in a substitute team to "logically" go down 0-3. Getafe with this win make history as they reach the Europa League 6th place on the classification table. SOLDADO scored two goals in the 13th & 53rd min , along with PAREJO in the 86th min. Congratulations to Getafe!

ATHLETIC DE BILBAO won 2-0 DEPORTIVO with goals from young MUNAIN in the 19th min & JAVI MARTINEZ in the 78th min. However, the news was the "hanging of the boots" of goalie ARMANDO & veteran ETXEBERRIA (above) who both said good-bye to their crowd with tears.
REAL ZARAGOZA & VILLAREAL played out a 3-3 draw with the latter staying at the doors of the Euro table positions. A rough & tumble game with hard tactics & hard knocks. Goals for Zaragoza came from ELISEU, COLUNGA & PULOIDO, while for Villareal CAZORLA scored twice along with ROSSI.

Tomorrow the last 5 games of Round 38 will be played with Real Madrid & FC Barcelona in action to decide the Championship, & regretfully, decide the 3 teams that will go down to 2ºDivision. Surf into SFS late tomorrow night for all the details.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 36 TUESDAY NIGHT GAMES RESULTS

Source: SFS /
The Spanish League - Liga - celebrates mid-week Round 36 action with four games scheduled that gave us the following results & scorers as the season comes to its natural end with a "titanic" effort at the top of the classification table for the title & at the bottom to avoid relegation.

FC BARCELONA won 4-1 TENERIFE in the rain to put back the pressure on Real Madrid who must win tomorrow against Mallorca if they are to keep their Liga title options alive. However, this scoreline gives a distorted image of the reality as Barcelona played an oridinary match & solved a delicate situation towards the end.

LIONEL MESSI put Barcelona ahead in the 17th min with a header, but Tenerife equalized in the 39th min via ROMAN after a Puyol defensive mistake. Barcelona was very nervious as they were thinking that they may be giving the Liga title to Real Madrid if this game finished in a draw. But young BOJAN again came to the rescue in the 63rd min & PEDRO later in the 77th min - who took over from a very poor Ibrahimovic - to have MESSI score his second & Barça´s fourth in the 93rd min.

LIONEL MESSI takes his personal goal tally to 31 goals ( 44 in all competitions) & makes him a clear candidate to take this years Spanish League Top Goal Scorer - El Pichichi - & European Top Goal Scorer - Golden Boot Award. There are still 2 more Liga rounds left to further add to his goal tally.

ALMERIA won 4-2 VILLAREAL & in the process virtually assured their presence in the 1º Division of the Spanish League. The first half was all Almeria with goals from CRUSAT in the 14th & two goals from UCHE in the 28th & 42nd min. Villareal reacted somewhat in the 2ºhalf with goals from MARCANO in the 53rd min & IBAGAZA in the 67th min, but Almeria player PIATTI halted Villareal´s push with his & Almeria´s fourth goal in the 92nd min.

GETAFE & REAL SPORTING DE GIJON finished in a 1-1 draw with both side giving the spectators two "blinders". DE LA CUEVAS put Sporting ahead in the 17th min with a power-driver from long range & SOLDADO (above) equalized in the 47th min with a overhead goal.

Sporting haven´t as yet totally saved themselves from the dangerzone!

VALENCIA CF consolidate their 3ºrd place on the ladder after defeating XEREZ 3-1 after the latter surprised going ahead in the 37th min via ARMENTEROS. However, MATA scored twice in the 45th min & 57th min to steer Valencia CF home with DAVID SILVA (above) finishing the job with his teams third in the 67th min.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 35 GAMES RESULTS

Source: Sp Ftball Sprts Blog/
Firstly excuse the round up post of Round 35 today. I have been out of town in a "non-digital" part of Spain ( the countryside) & haven´t watched much Football - Soccer except what I have listened on the radio which has been basically all the games. So with your permission I will post a short summary with the important highlights, results & scorers.

REAL MADRID defeated OSASUNA 3-2 to remain 1ºpoint behind current Liga table leaders FC Barcelona & keep the title race alive & exciting. However Real Madrid nearly "kissed" their title aspirations goodbye as they were pushed to the limit by Osasuna until - once again - CRISTIANO RONALDO came to the rescue. He was the Best on the ground & scored two vital goals tonight to keep Real alive in the Liga.

Real Madrid 3: Cristiano Ronaldo 24th & 89th min) & Marcelo (43rd min)
Osasuna 2: Aranda (7th min) & Vadocz (41st min)

Here is the VIDEO of all the goals scored. Watch Ronaldo score & save his team with the last goal:

VILLAREAL lost 1-4 to a fully recovered FC BARCELONA who have their mind solidly on the Liga title after being knocked out by Inter Milan from Champions League. MESSI was outstanding with 2 goals ( 18th & 89th min), along with XAVI with a brilliant free kick goal in the 33rd min & young BOJAN in the 41st min. For Villareal J.LLORENTE scored their only goal in the 66th min. A clear message to all from Barça that they will be difficult to beat out of the Liga title.

A Spanish Cup Final warm-up with SEVILLA FC winning 3-1 ATLETICO DE MADRID. Sevilla FC had an outstanding Jesus Navas down the wing & with NEGREDO (above) scoring twice (12th & 39th min) along with LUIS FABIANO in the 7th min who was latter injured & may miss the Spanish Cup Final in May. The only goal for Atletico came from TIAGO in the 9th min.

Other Results & Scorers:

ATHLETIC BILBAO 1 ( Llorente 46th min) - MALLORCA 3 (Castro 42nd, Nunes 49th & Aduriz 51st). Mallorca are in Champions League positions & play Real Madrid in Round 36 mid-week!

VALLADOLID 0 - GETAFE 0

XEREZ 2 ( Armentera 26th & Bermejo 94th) - ALMERIA 1 (Soriano 33rd)

ESPANYOL 0 - VALENCIA CF 2 ( Zigic 61st & 74th min)

DEPORTIVO 0 - ZARAGOZA 1 ( Colunga 50th min)

MALAGA 1 ( Caicedo 79th min) - SPORTING 1 ( Camacho 43rd min)

TENERIFE 2 ( Roman 45th & Ayoze 56th min) & RACING 1 ( Xisco 71st min)

EUROPA LEAGUE 2009 2010 2º LEG SEMI FINAL RESULT | LIVERPOOL FC 2 ATLETICO DE MADRID 1 | ATLETICO WIN ON AGG GO INTO FINAL | VIDEO GOALS

Source: SFS Blog /
Watch the VIDEO of the goal that took ATLETICO DE MADRID into its first European Final in 24 years & return them to the Europen Football elite:

DIEGO FORLAN scored in extra-time (103rd min) the only goal by ATLETICO DE MADRID in their 2-1 loss tonight to LIVERPOOL FC in the 2ºleg semi-final clash of the EUROPA LEAGUE. Although Atletico lost, their goal in the 1º leg & the one scored tonight served double to eliminate Liverpool FC & put the Spaniards into the Final in Hamburg against English team Fulham. In fact, Atletico notched up their second final this season as they are to meet local team Sevilla FC in the Spanish Cup Final in May. An extraordinary turn of events as Atletico was 2º Division relegation bait 4 months ago when a "Club Crisis" lead to the sacking of Coach Abel. The team made everyone suffer tonight until the last minute - habitual for Atletico - as they held off a brave Liverpool FC who attempted to score their third goal to win the semi.

This Atletico is not the same team that it was 4 months ago, as their is now defensive order & discipline with players who before were "basket-cases" playing at a superb level like Perea, Antonio Lopez & Dominguez. But tonight was a team effort with Reyes back to his best in the right moment, Forlan sacrificing himself along with Simao , Assuncao, Garcia, Aguero...etc
.

Liverpool FC had their ideas clear from the start, they need 2 goals at least ( without At. Madrid scoring ) to get through. They attacked from the first minute & had their chances with the game swinging both ways with the Spaniards who were kept out by Liverpool goalie Reina from a Raul Gracia crack at goal that could have been a killer. It was Liverpool Italian midfielder AQUILANO who opened the can for the English in the 43rd min that knocked the Spaniards about so close to the end of the 1º st half. Watch the VIDEO of the goal:

It was a "boxing match" in the second half as MASCHERANO ( Best on the field) stopped everything that Atletico through at them & it was end to end stuff. Extra-time was imminent & both teams accepted it as the inevitable. However, the physical effort of the 1ºst half by Liverpool was costing them at this stage ( & much more latter ) as Atletico grew on the field & was to be decisive later.

Then just 4 mins into extra-time Liverpool player BENAYOUN scored the second & the Spaniards were at this stage out of the Europa League. Watch the VIDEO of the goal:

The key moment was when Atletico Coach Flores took off Assuncao who was exhausted & put on a fresh attacking midfielder Jurado who took over the center & the ball. Then the miracle happened in the 103rd min when Reyes escaped & passed to Diego Forlan who scored. This goal put Atletico back in the picture & into the Europa League Final in Hamburg. From here it was desperate play from both sides as the English attacked & the Spaniards defended to hold out & finally the latter eliminate Liverppol FC.

Amazing stuff & great joy in Madrid (Spain) for a team who has suffered this season, & sadness that the eliminated side had to be Liverpool FC were there exists a certain brotherhood between both teams. A great match, pity only one could only win.

EUROPA LEAGUE 2009 2010 | ATLETICO DE MADRID 90 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE FINAL

Source: Sp Ftbll Sprt /
They are the last Spanish Team standing in Europe. Ironical if you look at season 2009-2010 & realise how terrible things were for ATLETICO DE MADRID 4-5 months ago when Directives were “forced” to sack starting Coach Abel when the team hovered in the relegation positions of the Spanish League. With the arrival of current Coach Quique Sanchez Flores the “Liga” haemorrhage has been contained with the Club now in mid table positions & safe, plus they are Finalists in the upcoming Spanish Cup were they will compete against Sevilla FC for the title. Tonight the play LIVERPOOL FC in the 2º leg of the EUROPA LEAGUE semi-final & start with a 1-0 goal advantage from the 1ºst leg. Atletico are one game away from reaching a European Final. The last time Atletico reached so far in Europe was back in 1986 (24 years ago) when they played Dynamo Kiev in the Final of the European Cup Winners Cup which they lost. A long time for a Club with such a long Football tradition , a Club of its size & with such a loyal fan base.

However, the endeavour at the “mythical” Anfield Stadium will not be an easy affair as Liverpool will be pushed on by their warm & supporting fans which will create an uncomfortable atmosphere for their Spanish visitors. The good news for Atletico is the return of SERGIO AGUERO up front, after he served his one match suspension in the first leg, where he will form a dangerous partnership in the forward line with Diego Forlan, Simao & Reyes.

The players know they have a unique opportunity tonight, they know that their “dream” of reaching a European Final is only 90 minutes away. Tonight could be the night to wipe off a bad season & equilibrate those unexplained swings in fortune that so much leave perplexed fans & observers. It will be very difficult, Liverpool also need a victory tonight to allow them to forget their own terrible season & regain their lost confidence in themselves.

The stage is set, & from here I wish Atletico de Madrid all the luck in the World, but this time they will need more than luck, they will need to believe in themselves that they can win this game & reach the Europa League Final. They are Spanish Footballs last standing Club in Europe, an honouring feat with a huge "responsability" in representing the whole nation.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL PREVIEW | WHO WILL MEET BAYERN MUNICH IN MADRID?

Source: Sp Ftball Sprt Blog:
SFS BLOG supports FC Barcelona for today.

The question circulating the minds of Bayern Munich, their fans & the World Football Soccer World is which of these two remaining teams, FC BARCELONA INTER MILAN , will be their opponent for the upcoming Final of the 2010 Champions League in Madrid at the "Santiago Bernabeu Stadium" Saturday 22nd of May.

Tonight the city of Barcelona, the region of Catalonia & half of Spain will come to a complete halt at 20.45 as the masses gather to witness the 2º leg semi final clash that will determine who will meet the Germans. The Italian team Inter Milan comes with a great advantage of the 3-1 result from the 1ºleg match in Milan last week, & if they score a goal away they will virtually (repeat virtually - nothing is certain) have the semi in the bag. However, FC Barcelona has mobilized the "fan base" to cheer them on for an expected "come back" that with a 2-0 scoreline will be enough for them - as long as Inter dont score! The scene is set for one of European Football´s great clashes this season & the current Champion attempts to "fight off" the contender.

FC BARCELONA will go out with all their available big guns ( Puyol will serve a one match suspension & Iniesta is still injured).

Barça will be putting its hope in their "deadly" up-front trident of star forwards : Messi, Ibrahimovic & the new Spanish Football sensation, Pedro, to break the strong "wall" defence of the Italians

INTER MILAN are just 90 mins away from getting into the Final of the Champions League, a long time dream off getting them back to the Top of European Football, only if they can keep out the current "Best Team In The World" & the 98,000 screaming Barça fans.

Don´t miss this game. SFS will be posting a full summary with result, scorer/s & videos around 23.15 Spanish local time.

Many the better team win. Visça Barça!

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 - ROUND 34 MONDAY NIGHT GAME RESULT

Source: Sp Ftball Sprts Blog /
The "Spanish Liga" Monday night game between OSASUNA ATHLETIC DE BILBAO shut Round 34 of the Spanish League with a 0-0 draw.

A just result with the only two real chances going the way of Athletic de Bilbao which they couldn´t convert into goals. It was a typical historical clash between two "hard" teams with a long tradition that played in not giving an inch of ground or "air to breathe" in the midfield to their opponent.

There is basically little more to add to the already mentioned as this game was "flat", predictable, ordinary & it finished as it was meant to end; with the points being shared by both sides.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 - ROUND 34 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Source: Sp Ftball Sprts Blog /
The Spanish Football Soccer League continued today with 6 games scheduled in Round 34 of "La Liga". Plenty of games involving teams facing the relegation danger & that brought about some rough matches with some red cards being shown as the nerves became as a consequence part of the games
.

Posts, a penalty saved by Malaga Munuá (above) & a final 1-1 draw was the result of the MALLORCA - MALAGA game. The home team managed to equalize "in extremis" with ADURIZ scoring a controversial goal in the 91st min when Malaga claimed a foul on their goalkeeper. Earlier in the 86th min OBINNA scored to put Malaga ahead.

An entertaining game with Mallorca maintaining its "battle" with Sevilla FC for the Champions League 4th table place, while Malaga are still in the relegation danger zone.

ALMERIA lost 0-1 to RCD ESPANYOL with a superb goal from LUIS GARCIA in the 54th min that secures a little bit more their place in the 1º Division next season. Almeria will be disappointed as they had their opportunities & couldn´t convert.

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON continue with their "rough patch" losing to VALLADOLID 0-2 at home. The visitors played intensely as their future in the 1ºDivision depends on it. MANUCHO put Valladolid ahead in the 80th min & BARAJA the second in the 93rd min. To highlight how tense things were, both teams lost a man to red cards in the 86th min (De Horno for Valladolid & Maldonado for Sporting). Valladolid are now 2 points from getting out of the relegation part of the table.

RACING DE SANTANDER who are in danger of relegation lost 1-2 to VILLAREAL who managed to turn the game around thanks to their midfielder Santiago Cazorla who set up the goals from GODIN (above) in the 70th min & later NILMAR in the 82th min. Earlier the new Real Madrid signing & Racing young sensation SERGIO CANALES scored a "blinder" in the 38th min that showed all his class, but it wasn´t enough.

ATLETICO DE MADRID managed to shake off second-last placed TENERIFE winning 3-1. Atletico left Forlan & Simao on the bench thinking about Liverpool mid week & this allowed SALVIO (above) to start. He took his chance & scored two goals in the 11th min with help from Tenerife goalkeeper & in the 30th min. Tenerife managed in the 2ºhalf to get back the game & dominanted to be rewarded with their only goal by ROMAN in the 60th min. But SERGIO AGUERO scored in the 77th min to secure things & knock the wind out of the Tenerife sails.

GETAFE defeated SEVILLA FC 4-3 in an amazing come back, & on the way did a favour to Mallorca who consolidate a bit more the 4th Chmpions League place on the Spanish League table. Getafe scored first via ADRIAN in the 16th min, but that only inspired Sevilla to take control & they equalized via LUIS FABIANO in the 33rd & then go ahead via KANOUTE in the 38th min, the latter would get a red card in the 88th min.

The 2ºhalf was all champagne Football from both sides. Getafe equalized via PEDRO LEON in the 58th min & Sevilla answered via LUIS FABIANO for his second in the 61st min. Getafe took in a dep breath a went for it & virtually ran over Sevilla when they equalized via MANU in the 75th min, & in the last moment PAREJO (above) scored a penalty & the winner in the 93rd min to bring the house down. Amazing come back, Sevilla will be kicking themselves for going down to 10 men & allowing this game to slip through their fingers. Getafe are only 2º points away from Euro table positions.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 - ROUND 33 MONDAY NIGHT GAME RESULT

Source: Sp Ftball Sprts Blog /
The Spanish Football - Soccer - League has finished with Round 33 with the last game played this Monday night between MALLORCA & OSASUNA with the former winning 2-0. Mallorca
take the 4th place on "La Liga" classification table & are currently sitting in Champions League positions. Mallorca is having an outstanding season & this victory gives them the brilliant figure of 14 wins at home. Not bad for a "modest" Club.

The goal scorers tonight were RUBEN in the 36th min & KEITA in the very last moment in the 91st min. It looks as if Mallorca will be fighting it out with Sevilla FC in the remaining 5 Rounds for the valuable 4th & Champions League classification place.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 - ROUND 32 THURSDAY GAMES RESULT ( VIDEO CRISTIANO RONALDO GOAL - ALMERIA)

Source: Sp Football Sports Blog/
The Spanish League - La Liga - concludes with Round 32 tonight with the last two scheduled games giving the following results & scorers.

REAL MADRID travelled to ALMERIA with the need to recompose themselves from the FC Barcelona defeat & assure the win if they were to keep alive the hope of having a chance of still winning the
Spanish League Title. With this added on, & self found, pressure on their shoulders they managed to shrug off an annoying Almeria with a 1-2 victory & keep the points gap in the classification table at 3 with their maximum rival Barça.

Almeria started well scoring first via CRUSAT in the 14th min, but CRISTIANO RONALDO seems on a "personal" mission & took the responsability onto his own shoulders to equalize in a fabulous fashion with a great goal in the 27th min. A goal that equals him with "team-mate" Higuain as the Clubs maximum goalscorer this season, if you take the European goals into account along with "La Liga" targets. Watch both goals on the below VIDEO - dont miss Ronaldo´s effort:

From here onwards Real Madrid was kept at bay by Almeria goalkeeper ALVES who showed why the big European Clubs have him in mind for next season, including Real Madrid. Clearly the best man for Almeria tonight as he foiled all the Madrid opportunities & gave his team plenty of counter-attacking chances which they did not manage to convert.

In fact, Real Madrid looked boring in their play during most of the 2ºhalf until midfielder RAFAEL VAN DER VAART whipped a shot that defeated Almeria goalie Alves to put Real Madrid in the lead.

This goal would finally turn out to be the winner. Important victory for the "Whites" & unlucky for Almeria in certain aspects as they didn´t do a bad job at all tonight.

VALENCIA CF defeated ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 2-0 with a magnificent DAVID SILVA who scored two goals, the first in the 35th min & the second - a real gem of a goal full of class - in the 62th min. Athletic had their chances but Valencia veteran goalkeeper Cesar looks more like a 20 year old with same fine saves that keep Bilbao at bay. Valencia get their 3 points to hold onto & consolidated a little more the 3rd place of the classification table, & Athletic are now a point away from Getafe who are breathing down their necks for the valueable Euro place.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER | LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 -2010 - ROUND 32 WEDNESDAY NIGHT RESULTS

Source: Sp Football Sports Blog /
The Spanish League continued tonight with Round 32 mid-week action with a total of 16 goals scored. Here is a round up of results & scorers.

REAL ZARAGOZA clawed back into their game against REAL MALLORCA managing to save a point with a 1-1 draw. RUBEN scored for Mallorca first in the 13th min with a header, to see later SUAZO equalize in the 21st min. Zaragoza still have relegation problems.

Great match with lots of goals in the OSASUNA vs MALAGA clash which finally ended in a 2-2 draw. PANDIANI scored his teams two goals in the 10th & 48th min, while for Malaga CAICEDO scored in the 32nd & BAHA in the 76th min

RACING DE SANTANDER & ESPANYOL are attempting to shake off the relegation ghost, & Racing managed to do some shaking winning 3-1. TCHITE scored twice for Racing in the 36th & in 50th (penalty) min along with ARANA in the 91st min. The only goal for Espanyol came from IVAN ALONSO in the 32nd min.

ATLETICO DE MADRID returned to their old bad habits & definately lost the last "Euro Train" after losing at home 1-2 to last placed XEREZ who is fighting with "tooth & nail" to stay out of 2ºDivision next season. BERMEJO got Xerez ahead in the 9th min to see DIEGO FORLAN quickly equalize in the 12th min. However, Atletico could not finish off things & mistakes caused ARMENTEROS to end up scoring the winner for Xerez in the 72th min.

FC BARCELONA continue on its merry way with an excellent game with penalties being claimed by both sides that were not called; however DEPORTIVO lost 3-0 & did not do enough to claim anything better. Young BOJAN opened the scoring in the 15th min & was followed in a Barça dominanted 2ºhalf with goals from PEDRO in the 69th min & TOURE 71st min. Barça Coach Guardiola used this match to rest some of his star players, & still they won & well.

Round 32 shuts tomorrow with two more games; Real Madrid included.

SPANISH FOOTBALL-SOCCER-LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 : ROUND 31 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Source: Sp Football Sports Blog /
The Spanish Football - Soccer - League continued this afternoon /evening with Round 31 in an "low vibe" atmosphere as yesterdays Real Madrid - FC Barcelona game left everyone worn out & took over all the national media. However, the remaining games today gave us top quality, goals & its dose of controvery. Here is a summary of what occured with the remaining 5 Round matches.

Lovely foto by Mitxel Atrio who took the above image in the ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 4-1 victory against ALMERIA. The Basque team get into Euro table positions with goals from JAVI MARTINEZ with two with an outstanding game (13th & 49th min), GABILONDO in the 32th min & LLORENTE in the 51st min. Almeria managed a consolation goal thanks to PIATTI in the 71st min.

DEPORTIVO started off well with a 1st min goal by RIKI (above), but RACING who are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone managed to equalize & escape with a point thanks to the 83rd min goal by MORAL.

OSASUNA won 2-0 REAL ZARAGOZA mantaining the latters "problems" with relagation danger. ARANDA (above) scored early in the 2nd min & VALDOCZ the teams second in the 90th min. Zaragoza are looking at the abyss.

RCD ESPANYOL did a demolition job on ATLETICO DE MADRID with their 3-0 victory that virtually eliminates the hope left of Atletico reaching Euro table places. The victory gives Espanyol oxygen in the fight to stay alive in the 1º Division. The home team goals were scored by VICTOR in the 47th min, OSVALDO (again) in the 68th min & IVAN ALONSO in the 91st min. Atletico lost Ujfalusi to a red card towards the end of the game & now depend on winning the Spanish Cup of they are to get into Europe next season. At least they are not struggling in the relegation zone as they were 4 months back!

http://spanishfootballsports.blogspot.comGreat match between MALLORCA & VALENCIA CF with the former consolidating its Euro table position with an exciting 3-2 victory which nearly ended in a draw with a late come back attempt by the visitors. Mallorca started great with goals from CASTRO in the 6th min & WEBO (above) in the 21st. However, Valencia did not put its head down & pulled one back via ALBA in 47th min that experienced a set back when Valencia defender FERNANDES put in an own goal to make Mallorca more winner. Valencia threw everything in at this stage & PABLO HERNANDEZ got a second in the 85th min to open a window of chance. However, the over "excitment" of the moment saw Valencia lose Fernandes to a red card & Mallorca hold them off for the home team to take the 3 points.

The Spanish Football-Soccer-League had schedule 5 games tonight including the big clash, "El Clasico", between Real Madrid & FC Barcelona. Here is a summary of results & scorers.

REAL MADRID 0 FC BARCELONA 2 is the final result of "El Clasico" which could have been more in the end had Casillas not made two increidible saves. This result puts Barça back on top of the Spanish League Classification table with a 3 point advantage gap & this may be enough to have sealed Barça the Spanish Championship.

A relative disappointing performance from the home team that had Higuain "Missing In Action" , Ronaldo trying but not succeeding at all tonight, Marcelo lost, Arbeloa out of position & the whole team physically "wasted" after an intense effort the first 20 minutes that successfully halted Barcelona & gave rise to hope. A strategy that was working well until the 33rd min when MESSI scored Barça´s first goal in their first & only arrival at goal of the match at that point. Real Madrid was better overall in the first half but Messi again managed to turn things around with a single play that confirms he is currently without doubt the "Best Player in the World". Watch the VIDEO of the Messi goal:

The goal brought down the spirits of the Real Madrid after coming from a "stupid" free-kick "mix up" that surprised the whole Madrid defence. Having said this, to Real Madrid´s credit, they were without luck in their opportunities to which some observers may reply that Real simply are just ineffective up front. A point that may be due to the fact that Real Madrid play without wingers & keep on insisting in going through the middle where they just kept running into the Barça defence lead tonight by a brilliant Pique & Puyol.

The second half saw a determined Real Madrid come out & do some very good things with Guti on for Marcelo, & their game seemed to flow. But again, plenty of shots at the goal but not effective as explained & mentioned already above. Then the "blow" once again for Madrid came in the 55th min when Arbeloa was beaten by young PEDRO who scored the second Barcelona goal. Watch the VIDEO of the goal below:

From here Madrid was stumbling & Casillas kept out two Messi attempts that could have converted the night into a real nightmare. Real Madrid attempted to react with Raul & Benzema coming on, but it was too late, the damage had been done by a smarter, more patient & in the end, better FC Barcelona.

This will have effects at the end of the season, as Real Madrid has lost twice against Barça this season, will possibly also miss out on the League title & thus make the "grand 2009-2010" project a failure. A failure in signings perhaps & certainly a mistake of choice with Coach Manuel Pellegrini who may well be experiencing his last games as it is rumoured that Real Madrid may ask the man to leave at the end of the season.

Sad night for Real, as they build themselves up all week but simply could not deliver & were not up to the occasion tonight as they were second class to Barça.

MALAGA lost to SEVILLA FC 1-2 with the latter regaining the "right path" after a "rocky" last 2 weeks. Malaga scored first in the 16th min via CAICEDO, but Sevilla regained control & managed to score two goals in the latter part via COLA in the 66th & LOLO 85th min.

There is no stopping VILLAREAL lately as they won 1-0 REAL SPORTING DE GIJON. The goal came early in the 15th min via a header from GODIN which was enough; 3 points thank you very much!

The two are bottom placed teams - TENERIFE VALLADOLID - who are in deep trouble with relegation clear for both who gave us only a 0-0 draw. No surprises.

Finally, the last placed team XEREZ lost 0-1 to GETAFE & this loss may be too much for them as they have virtually lost all chances of getting out of the 2 º Division "black hole".

EUROPA LEAGUE 2009 - 2010 2º LEG QUARTER FINAL RESULT: ATLETICO DE MADRID 0 - VALENCIA CF 0. ATLETICO THROUGH TO SEMI

Source: Sp Football Sports Blog /
The much await return of the "prodigal son" Fernando Torres to the Atletico de Madrid home ground will be a reality as ATLETICO DE MADRID drew 0 - 0 with VALENCIA CF ( 2-2 agg, Atletico with the away goal advantage) & will meet Liverpool FC in the semi final of the EUROPA LEAGUE. But Atletico has another young "son" who saved them tonight from elimination, DAVID DE GEA, goalkeeper extraodinaire who stopped a last period Zigic header that had goal written all over the ball.

The game between both was conservative tonight & both were very aware of each other throughtout the match. Atletico had more chances in the first half , but overall things were equal as it looked like Valencia were hiding their cards for the second half of the game.

Atletico de Madrid wanted to score in the 2º half & nearly did via DIEGO FORLAN who missed real "sitters" with one hitting the post when Valencia goalie Cesar - who had a great match - tipped the ball away from a certain goal. Then Valencia Coach Emery changed strategy in the last 20 mins putting his bets in the aeriel game with "giant " Zigic coming on. From here Valencia went all out, & were not given a clear penalty when Zigic was held in the penalty square & had his shirt ripped. The protests from Coach Emery earned him a red card. Then David Villa hit the bar & Atletico de Madrid goalkeeper De Gea saved a "shot barrel" header from Zigic that would have eliminated Atletico.

Great match with tense moments, plenty of opportunities & saves, plus bad luck for Valencia who were denied a penalty. Atletico now will meet Liverpool in 2 weeks & without Aguero who got a yellow card towards the end for time-wasting during his substitution; although I think he looked for it to clear his yellow card cycle & guarantee a final appearance if Atletico can knock out Liverpool. We will have to wait & see.
