SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE ROUND 15 RESULTS SATURDAY NIGHT GAMES

SPANISH FOOTBALL action tonight with four games of Round 15 from LA LIGA. Lets quickly race through with a summary of all events, the final results & the goal scorers.

Spanish Football
Racing de Santander celebrate their only goal

RACING DE SANTANDER Coach Hector Cuper resigned mid-week & his team reacted with a 1 - 0 victory over VILLAREAL. The winner came in the 27th min via STUANI & Racing secured the result until the end. Villareal are having a "horror" season with injuries that has left the team under-manned. They are hoovering at the bottom part of the ladder - with Racing - & Villareal Coach Garrido also is under threat.

Spanish Football
Di Maria scores for Real Madrid

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON lost 0 - 3 to REAL MADRID. The game was untidy, rough around the edges & very worked for Real Madrid who went in without Xabi Alonso & with maximum respect for their opponent. Real Sporting was defensive & aggressive & knocked around Madrid to make it all feel very uncomfortable. Real Madrid looked sloppy & was missing the "creative" midfield touch that Xabi Alonso puts in, but managed without their star in the end.

The game changed in the 34th min when DI MARIA robbed the ball from the Gijon defender in the wing, ran in along the goal-line & just when Sporting goalie Diego Pablo thought Di Maria would pass inward , the latter slipped the ball in by the post to score. Brilliant!

The match continued with its sloppy tonic until CRISTIANO RONALDO scored the second from a precision pass delivered by Di Maria. The third came in the 92nd min from a superb power driver in the square from MARCELO.

Three points that keep Real Madrid with a 6 point gap at the top with FC Barcelona, with both trains on a collision course next Saturday (22.00 hrs) in the first "Clasico".

Spanish Football
Barça celebrate a goal

FC BARCELONA fine-tuned their machine with a convincing 5 - 0 victory over LEVANTE. The visitors put in a 5 - 4 - 1 system ( ultra - defensive) & found CESC FABREGAS scoring in the 3rd min from a Iniesta pass. This was a signal that you could put up a brick wall & it would make no difference as CESC FABREGAS again scoed - the second- from a Xavi pass in the 32nd min.

From here is was almost "auto-control" as young ISAAC CUENCA scored the third in the 36th min, MESSI in the 55th min & ALEXIS in the 61st min. The only bad news was the apparent "injury" to Barça Captain Carles Puyol that will need to be examined in order to find out if its a "false alarm" or something more.

Now onto the "clasico" against Real Madrid next Saturday

Spanish Football
Valencia CF score against Espanyol

VALENCIA CF defeated RCD ESPANYOL in a tightly fought out match with the home side winning 2 - 1. Valencia had its mind in next Tuesdays all important Champions League clash against Chelsea FC & rested their star forward Robero Soldado. A Star? More later.

Valencia got off the a great start when awarded a penalty which TINO COSTA converted in the 6th min. From here it was all hard work as Espanyol slowly but surely began to regain confidence & create chances. The visitors were rewarded in the 68th min when HECTOR MORENO equalized & it looked as if Espanyol were back in with a winning chance. Valencia Coach Emery reacted & put on inform forward ROBERTO SOLDADO who scored in the 80th min from a corner with a great header. The winner, the saviour & star.

CRISTIANO RONALDO - LIONEL MESSI | WORLD FOOTBALL YING -YANG

History has a long & steady list of personalities who go down as the “best in their profession” that have battled it out with someone else that has driven both to their limits in order to reach their top level. It’s a type of “ying-yang” situation were one person has no meaning without the existence & interaction of the other.

It now comes to my mind some names that highlight this idea & observation:

Boxing: Mohammed Ali – Joe Frazier
Sugar Ray – Marvellous Marvin Hagler
Basketball: Jordan – Magic Johnson
Motorbike: Valentino Rossi – Jorge Lorenzo
Tennis: Roger Federer – Rafael Nadal
McEnroe - Ivan Lendl
Athletics: Ben Johnson – Carl Lewis

These are just a few “top of my head” examples from ,000s of names from all walks of life in the areas of politics, business, society & sports throughout history.

World Football – Soccer currently has its own “ying-yang” example, Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi. Both are competing to be “The Best in The World” & are indirectly assisting each other to bring out the best of themselves, & their intense & fierce rivalry is extracting qualities beyond their own talents that take each further & further beyond the boundaries of Football.

cristiano ronaldo 2011
Cristiano Ronaldo 2011

Spanish Sports daily paper “AS” gives an interesting article on this angle & highlights how both Cristiano Roanldo & Lionel Messi have shared the Football Title honours this season. Cristiano Ronaldo wins in the individual awards area while Messi wins with the collective. The end results however, is closer than one thinks.

Here is a run down on some important numbers.

Each has scored 53 goals this season in all competitions. This is simply superhuman stuff, it is absolutely incredible as both are “light years” from the rest.
  • European Golden Boot (Shoe) season 2010-2011 …40 goals
  • Spanish League Top Goalscorer – “El Pichichi” season 2010-2011 …40 goals
This sets an “All Time Historical Record” in Spanish Football. Simply amazing
  • Spanish Cup Title
lionel messi 2011
Lionel Messi 2011

Lionel Messi takes

• Spanish Football League Title 2010 - 2011
• UEFA Champions League Title 2010 - 2011
• Champions League maximum goal scorer season 2010-2011…12 goals

Both Ronaldo & Messi share the season scoring goal average ( all competitions) : a goal every 86 minutes.

In summary, a technical draw between Ronaldo & Messi as highlighted by the Spanish Sports paper. The other observation is that both "cannot live" (sporting wise) without each other & their merits may sub-consciously be directly influenced & effected by their fierce rivalry to out do the other. Lastly, the winners are you & me, plus all the Football lovers & fans around the World. We are all in a privileged moment of Football History that allows us to witness & enjoy two enormous & supernatural Football players. May that period be long, be competitive & stay healthy.

UEFA | IDEAL 11 TEAM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 - 2011

UEFA has handed in their "IDEAL BEST 11 TEAM" for this season 2010-2011 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE . The list is dominated by Manchester United & FC Barcelona players, as one would expect, plus two from Real Madrid & representatives from Shakthar & Tottenham.

But the notable surprise is the absence of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, whose place has been give to veteran Spanish Football player, ex - Real Madrid & now Schalke 04 forward RAUL.

Spanish Football Player RAUL now with Schalke 04

The internet voting,  along with the opinion of the UEFA picked experts,  have prized the following 11 players as the best in Champions League:

FC BARCELONA VICTOR VALDES "ZAMORA" PRIZE 2010-2011 | BEST SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE GOALKEEPER

Spanish Football

* Spanish Sports paper "Marca" - which gives out the "El Pichichi" Award - has given Ronaldo 41 goals. UEFA however only takes into account the referee post - match report, whom gave the "controversial" goal to team-mate Pepe after the latter deflected the ball for a  goal from a Ronaldo free-kick ( vs Real Sociedad 2010).

We this explaination & the official UEFA figures, here is the final standings for the EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT (Shoe) AWARD season 2010 - 2011

1 C. Ronaldo Real Madrid SP 40goals     80.0points
2 L. Messi FC Barcelona SP      31            62.0

4 M. Gomez Bayern München GER 28       56.0
5 E. Cavani SSC Napoli ITA     26             52.0

Here is an interesting statistic that highlights the incredible goal scoring feat this season by Cristiano Ronaldo. Relegated to 2º Division LIGA Club DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA scored all season 31 goals, while only Ronaldo scored - by himself - 40 goals...amazing.

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON 2010-2011 ENDS WITH ROUND 38 GAMES RESULTS

Tense & emotional finish in the SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE with Round 38 unfortunately sending DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA, along with Hercules & Almeria, to the 2º Division.  Here is a run down of tonights events with all the results & goal scorers.

Spanish Football
Deportivo relegated to second division

DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA lost 0 - 2 to VALENCIA CF & thus gets relegated to the Spanish 2º Division after 20 glorious years in the Top League of Spanish Football. The goals for Valencia came via ADURIZ in the 4th min & SOLDADO in the 92nd min. During the match Deportivo had some golden chances to think about a victory but they missed & paid. Sad moment at A Coruña & for all their fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins "El Pichichi" 2011

REAL MADRID defeated 8 - 1 ALMERIA with a goals from youngster JOSELU ( 87th min), a HAT TRICK from ADEBAYOR ( 32nd, 51st & 72nd min), two goals from KARIM BENZEMA ( 47th & 63rd min) & two goals from CRISTIANO RONALDO ( 4th & 77th min). The goal for Almeria came from UCHE in the 32nd min but his team was doomed to the 2º Division long ago.

CRISTIANO RONALDO finishes the season with 40 goals which makes him the "Highest Goal scorer in The History of Spanish Football". CR7 naturally wins the "El Pichichi" Trophy as Spanish Football League highest goal scorer for 2010-2011, plus the "European Golden Boot (Shoe) as the "Highest Goal scorer in European Football 2010-2011". An believable individual feat that also adds to the 102 goals by Real Madrid this season.

la liga

Football Spain

OSASUNA maintain themselves in the Spanish League thanks to the important goal from CEJADO in the 41st min to give them the 1 - 0 victory over VILLAREAL.

Spanish Football
Sergio Aguero HAT-TRICK man

MALLORCA lost 3 - 4 against ATLETICO DE MADRID with the home team on edge all game looking to see if Deportivo in their game scored a goal, which they didn´t & thus finally managed to save themselves in 1º Division. The highlight was the heroic comeback attempt by Mallorca in the 2º half & the goals by Atletico de Madrid forward SERGIO AGUERO who scored a HAT TRICK & goals that may well be candidates for goals of the year.  Atletico de Madrid get a Euro place but will have to start pre-season early to work & attempt to win the Europa League preliminary qualification phase.

The scorers for Mallorca, DE GUZMAN (penalty 62nd min) & two goals from WEBO (71st & 92nd min). For Atletico de Madrid goals came via AGUERO ( 12th,59 & 80th min) & JUANFRAN (18th min).

Spanish League

REAL ZARAGOZA visited LEVANTE & got out of the "black hole" to save themselves from relegation thanks to their away 1 - 2 victory. The vital goals came from GABI in the 38th min & PONZIO in the 73rd min. The goal for Levante came thanks to STUANI in the 79th min. Zaragoza saved, just!

Soccer
Negerdo did a double tonight for Sevilla FC

ESPANYOL lost 2 - 3 against SEVILLA FC with a great match full of goals as you can see by the result. Goals from Sevilla came via NEGREDO with two in the 2nd & 62nd min & KANOUTE who said goodbye with his 46th min goal. The goals for Espanyol came from OSVALDO in the 54th min & VERDU in the 72nd min. Football

RACING lost 1 - 2 to ATHLETIC DE BILBAO with the latter finishing the season with a Europa League ticket. Goals from Athletic from DAVID LOPEZ in the 18th min & LLORENTE in the 20th min. Racing reacted with a goal from KENNEDY in the 89th min.

Fantastic season for Athletic de Bilbao,  & Racing assuring another year in the maximum
 category.

SPANISH LEAGUE FOOTBALL | LAST ROUND FOR SINNERS

SPANISH FOOTBALL comes to its season climax tomorrow with all Round 38 matches of the Spanish League scheduled. We already know that FC Barcelona has won La Liga, that second is Real Madrid, third is Valencia CF & Villareal finishes in Champions League position in 4th place. There is a minor battle to avoid the Europa League prelimanary phase position of 7th on the table with Sevilla, At Bilbao & At.Madrid all on 55 points.

However, the real emotional part of the Spanish League is at the bottom where one team out of six possible candidates will join Almeria & Hercules next season in "El Infiero". This last term in English is literally "The Inferno- Hell" which depicts the Spanish 2º Division. A rough & tough place were Clubs suffer in "agony" to get out & back to into LA LIGA. It is said that it is easier to get relegated from La Liga into the 2º Division than to be promoted from the 2º Division in the 1º Division.

Spanish 2º division Football
The Inferno of Spanish Football

This is how the bottom half of the Spanish League ladder looks like after Round 37:

13 Osasuna 44
14 Real Sociedad 44
15 Mallorca 44
16 Getafe 43
17 Deportivo 43
18 Zaragoza 42
19 Hércules 34
20 Almería 30

Almeria & Hercules have already been "dammed", but any of the 6 teams above them could join them in "El Infierno" depending if they win, draw or how the numerous results combinations end up finally.

Exciting final Round of Spanish Football tomorrow night not to be missed!

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ATLETICO DE MADRID & EUROPE

All ATLETICO DE MADRID fans around the global, yes the Club secured a Euro classification position in the League, more concretely the 7th place. But this was not the prime objective, its the least worst scenario as the Champion League (naturally) was the main & important plan being the 4th position the aim currently secured by Villareal.

Happy with the Euro place? Yes, of course, but the 7th place is not a "direct" ticket for the Europa League next season. This will mean that Atletico will have a shorter "summer break" as they will need to play a preliminary knock-out series to qualify. Thus it is not guaranteed at all for the Madrid Club, which is the exception currently for Sevilla & At Bilbao in 5th & 6th position respectively.

Last Round next week & Clubs in 5th, 6th & 7th all with 55 points . Hope that clears some things with the overseas Atletico fans.

SPANISH LEAGUE FOOTBALL ROUND 37 GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE action tonight with all 10 games of Round 37 played simultaneously as Clubs at the bottom end of the ladder are playing their future attempting to avoid the "last ticket" to the 2º Division, & others are attempting to grab the Euro train in the top end of the classification table. Highly charged LIGA with fierce competition & goals. Here is a brief summary of events, results & scorers.

Spanish League Top Goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo

VILLAREAL lost 1 - 3 to REAL MADRID. The big news was the two goals from free-kicks that Real Madrid forward CRISTIANO RONALDO scored to take his personal goal tally this season in the LIGA to 38 goals. This figure secures him the Top Goal scorer for season 2010-2011 of the Spanish League - "El Pichichi" - & virtually (still not official) the European Top Scorer Golden Shoe (Boot) Award. Added to this the 38 goal figure equals the Spanish Football Historical mark shared with Legends Telmo Zarra (At Bilbao) & Hugo Sanchez ( Real Madrid ), a mark which Ronaldo could overtake in next weeks final Round of La Liga.

Back to the game, Real Madrid dominanted the first half with goals from MARCELO in 17th min & RONALDO in the 22nd min. VIllareal dominated the second half with a goal from CANI in the 49th min & were unlucky not to have equalized. CRISTIANO RONALDO scored the third for the team & his second in the 90th min.

Dominguez scores for Atletico de Madrid

ATLETICO DE MADRID managed a hard fought 2 -1 victory over already relegated Club HERCULES. Atletico de Madrid played its last game at home this season & Coach Flores left Diego Forlan in the stands as both will not be continuing next season at the Club. The win tonight still leaves Atletico marginally out of the Euro places & will need a victory in the last Round to see what happens.

DOMINGUEZ put Atletico ahead early with his 1st min goal, to see later Atletico goalkeeper De Gea save a penalty from TREZEGUET in the 29th min. However the Hercules forward made up for his mistake equalizing in the 66th min,  to later see REYES score the winner for Atletico in the 71st min.

Sevilla FC secures a Euro place

SEVILLA FC defeated REAL SOCIEDAD 3 - 1 to virtually grab a Euro ticket & put the latter into relegation danger awaiting the last round. The goals came from KANOUTE who scored twice in the 53rd & 60th min with superb headers & team-mate NEGREDO in the 85th min. The goal for Real Sociedad came thanks to AGIRRETXU in the 72nd min.

Must win situation for Real Sociedad next week.

Getafe breathe with win

GETAFE won OSASUNA 2 - 0 to momentarily get out of the last relegation position & play for their Spanish League future next week. In fact,  both Clubs will be playing for their Liga future in the last Round. The first goal for Getafe was an own goal by Osasuna player FLAÑO & the second came via PEDRO RIOS in the 92nd min.

None are safe!

Deportivo grab a point from Barça

FC BARCELONA with a B side & the Spanish League title celebrations hangover still apparent drew 0 - 0 with DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA. A valuable point for Depor but that does not secure them from disappearing from the Spanish League if they don't get a positive result in the final Round next week.

Athletic de Bilbao holding onto Europe

ATHLETIC DE BILBAO drew with a 10 men down MALAGA 1 - 1 as Bilbao clinches onto its Euro classification
position. RECIO put Malaga ahead in the 41st min, but lost defender Demichelis to a second yellow in the 51st min that gave Bilbao ground advantage. Bilboa managed to equalize via a penalty in the 52nd that DAVID LOPEZ converted.

Sporting Gijon saved

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON won 2 -1 RACING DE SANTANDER to secure another year in the Spanish Football League. In fact, both are safe & played a "fluid" match with Racing goalie Mario saving everything & deserves a mention. CHRISTIAN got Racing ahead first in the 31st min , that was followed by Sporting goals in the 44th min via DE LA CUEVAS & the winner via NACHO NOVO in the 51st min.

UCHE scores for Almeria

Relegated Club ALMERIA won 3 - 1 MALLORCA to grab some lost pride. UCHE scored in the 5th min, followed by team-mates ORTIZ in the 14th min & PIATTI in the 31st min. For Mallorca WEBO managed a consolation goal.

REAL ZARAGOZA won 1 - 0 RCD ESPANYOL which saw paradoxically the home team slip into the last remaining relegation position (Getafe won) & the visitors miss their Euro ticket. The winner came thanks to PONZIO in the 54th min.

Real Zaragoza plays a "do or die" match in the last Round. A must win situation or leave La Liga.

Levante down to 10 men

LEVENTE visited VALENCIA CF & was down to 10 men in the 22nd min when Xisco was set off. Even this did not give a positive result as the match ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Valencia has assured third place & Levante its future next season in the 1º Division.

LA LIGA SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 36 TUESDAY NIGHT GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE action tonight with four matches of Round 36 with relegation zone teams in full battle to stay alive next season in LA LIGA, disappointments, nerves , joys & goals. Here is a summary of tonights games, the results & the scorers.

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid 2011
Cristiano Ronaldo adds more goals

REAL MADRID defeated GETAFE 4 - 0 & delays the Spanish League title celebrations for FC Barcelona which plays tomorrow & only needs a point to mathematically claim the prize. The Real Madrid win puts Getafe in a very serious & difficult situation as they are looking at the "barrel of the gun" of the 2º Division.

The other note is the "tunnel vision" of CRISTIANO RONALDO in attempting to distance himself from "rival" Lionel Messi in winning this seasons Top Spanish League Goal scorer for season 2010-2011 - "El Pichichi" - & the historical record of 38 goals set by Telmo Zarra ( At Bilbao 1950 - 51) & Hugo Sanchez ( Real Madrid 1989-90).

Tonight Cristiano Ronaldo scored another HAT - TRICK with goals in the 23rd, 57th & 90th(penalty) min taking his tally to 37, or 36,  goals depending on the source. UEFA in their "European Golden Shoe (Boot) table has 36 goals as official.  The other goal scored tonight for Real Madrid was by KARIM BENZEMA in the 76th min after just coming on as a substitute.

league spanish 2011
Racing stays in the Spanish League

RACING DE SANTANDER came back to win ATLETICO DE MADRID 2 - 1 & mathematically assure their place next season in LA LIGA. For Atletico it is a disaster as their attempts to grab the available Europa League classification spot gets further away each game.

Atletico de Madrid got ahead first via MARIO SUAREZ in the 10th min, but as all season Atletico losses concentration & Racing got back via KENNEDY in the 37th min & the saving goal via ROSENBERG in the 47th min.

Football Spain 2011
Veteran Valderon the saviour for Depor tonight

DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA managed a similiar story against ATHLETIC DE BILBAO winning 2 - 1 & gaining three golden points that momentarily takes them out of the danger zone to breathe & fight again next Round. Bilbao got ahead in the 3rd min via TOQUERO & in the 22nd min Bilbao defender GURPEGUI scored an own goal that lifted Deportivo. But it was another own goal via CASTILLO that brought the stadium down with local joy. Lastly, just a mention that veteran Depor player VALDERON was fundamental in his teams comeback.

Spain Soccer
Malaga FC player Baptista "The Beast"

Amazing fifth straight victory by MALAGA 2 - 0 over SPORTING DE GIJON to shake off their delicate situation of last month. JULIO "The Beast" BAPTISTA is the reason for the extraordinary recovery of Malaga & again scoring in the 9th min to set the course of his side. Team-mate ELISEU then scored the second in the 67th min. What a change & at the right time of the season!

CURRENT PROVISIONAL LEADING GOAL SCORER FOR THE SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE & EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT (SHOE)

FINAL SPANISH FOOTBALL LIGA GOALSCORING TABLE 2010-2011

REAL MADRID
forward CRISTIANO RONALDO is currently leading the SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE Top Goal scorer Award for season 2010-2011 (“El Pichichi”) & the "European Golden Boot (Shoe) Award" for the continents Top scorer. This is provision as the season hasn’t finished as yet & it is very close in the Top spots between Ronaldo, Messi (FC Barcelona) & Di Natale (Udinese).

Cristiano Ronaldo 2011
Cristiano Ronaldo 2011

Said this, there exists confusion & controversy concerning the “true” goal numbers in reference to Ronaldo, a difference which could play a vital role in the “European Golden Boot Award”. Allow me to help explain to readers the “controversy” & the current situation of things.

The goal of all the confusion is the free kick below (VIDEO) which CRISTIANO RONALDO took in the Spanish League match against Real Sociedad back in 2010. The free-kick was a goal but was deflected by team-mate PEPE. So what happened? Few important  media gave the goal to Ronaldo, others - the majority - gave it to Pepe & - here is the important piece – the referee put in his final match report that the goal went to Pepe. UEFA takes into account the referees post – match report which counts towards for the “Golden Ball (Shoe) Award. Plus, most Spanish media also took as "law" the referees final report.

In Spain, the leading goal scorer award “El Pichichi” is sponsored by Spanish Sports paper “Marca” & they DO give the Real Sociedad free-kick goal to Cristiano Ronaldo.

So for the many readers who are wondering how the standing is "right now" for “El Pichichi” & the "European Golden Boot (Shoe)" here are the provisional tables with local League matches still to be played:

Spanish Sports paper “Marca”:
Cristiano Ronaldo 34 goals
Messi 31
Villa 18
Rossi 18
Agüero 17

Spanish Sports magazine "Don Balon":
Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid 33 goals
Messi Barcelona 31
Villa Barcelona 18
Rossi Villarreal 18
Llorente Athletic 17
Agüero Atlético 17

European Golden Boot (Shoe) Award provisional standings by "Don Balon". Don Balon is a press member of "ESM",  the organization that ratifies the title:

Goals Coef. Points
1 Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid (SP) 33 2 66
2 Lionel Messi Barcelona (SP) 31 2 62
3 Antonio Di Natale Udinese (ITA) 28 2 56
4 Mario Gómez Bayern (GER) 27 2 54
5 Edison Cavani Nápoles (ITA) 26 2 52
6 Papis Cissé Friburgo (GER) 22 2 44
7 Dimitar Berbatov Man. United (ENG) 21 2 42
Moussa Sow Lille (FRA) 21 2 42
9 Samuel Eto'o Inter (ITA) 20 2 40
Kevin Gameiro Lorient (FRA) 20 2 40

As you can see, Spanish Sports daily "Marca" gives Ronaldo 34 goals, while the rest - including UEFA - gives 33 goals.

Stay tuned for the final result.

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND 35 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS | FC BARCELONA CLOSER TO SPANISH LEAGUE TITLE

SPANISH FOOTBALL action with the last three games of Round 35 of the Spanish League. The main news is the victory by FC BARCELONA which puts them just one point away from mathematically claiming LA LIGA 2010-2011 title. A feat that will most likely occur in the next Round with the accompanying celebrations by Barça. Until then, lets review today's matches with results & the scorers.

Spanish Football Iniesta FC Barcelona 2011

FC BARCELONA
defeated comfortably local city rival RCD ESPANYOL 2 - 0 to take them even more closer in claiming the SPANISH LEAGUE Title which will happen in the next round just needing to a drawn result against Levante (or Real Madrid losing).

Barça was the far more superior team & opened proceeding with a goal from ANDRES INIESTA in the 29th min.

FC Barcelona 2011
Gerard Pique FC Barcelona 2011

FC Barcelona defender GERARD PIQUE latter got into the action with his header that brought up his teams second in the 48th min, to practically seal things. The only player of mention that was a constant danger for the home team was Espanyol forward Osvaldo who was a menace upfront & for Valdes.

Lionel Messi did not score tonight, so Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo has a "golden chance" to open the existing gap in their particualr race for the Spanish League "Leadiing Goal scorer Title".

Spanish Football 2011
Real Mallorca - Villareal

REAL MALLORCA & VILLAREAL played at the unusual time of 12.00 midday for a very boring 0 - 0 draw.

The new time slot is not habitual, but the Spanish Football League Authority ( LFP) will next season play their games earlier to allow the matches to be broadcast "prime time" in China & Japan ( the Asian market). This practice was put forward by the English Premier League as a way to expand the "brand" into Asia, something the big Spanish Clubs like Real Madrid & FC Barcelona has pressured to do the same in their attempts to open market.

Sergio for Osasuna

Both REAL ZARAGOZA & OSASUNA are in relegation danger & played a game that was tense & highly charged with the latter managing to win 1 - 3 & get the three points which lifts Osasuna momentarily out of danger. Real Zaragoza are just one place out of the "danger zone", sharing points with Deportivo who have less goals.

Zaragoza started the match well & was looking good with LAFITA scoring in the 14th min. But Osasuna slowly grind down Zaragoza & the second half was all theirs as Zaragoza "crumbled" to the goals from CAMUÑAS in the 62nd min, SERGIO in the 69th min & KIKA SOLA in the 80th min. Osasuna breathe, while Zaragoza feels the water on the throat.

ROUND 35 SPANISH LEAGUE FOOTBALL SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL & its LEAGUE was super emotional as Clubs put in the extra effort to either avoid relegation into the 2nd Division & fight it out for the limited European places at the Top of LA LIGA ladder. Seven games played tonight in Round 35 with nerves, frustrations, controversy & for some,  complete joy. Here is a summary of todays events, results & scorers.

Barral scores the equalizer for Sporting

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON came back to equalize in the final moment to finish their clash with DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA in a 2 - 2 draw. Very controversial finish from Deportivo´s point of view as a penalty ( a second ) was called in Sporting s favour that leaves doubts,  & the conversion by BARRAL in the 96th min put Deportivo one step away from the relegation zone.

Deportivo started well with an 8th min goal from ADRIAN & looked good until a penalty was given to Sporting to which AYOZE scored in the 35th min & equalized. Deportivo were not daunted & continued with their confident play & ADRIAN put them ahead with his second in the 40th min.

Rough & tough second half that saw Deportivo attempt to hold out until a "controversial penalty" was given to Sporting right at the end that allowed the equalizer & took away 2 vital points out of their hands. Now they are in real trouble on the ladder

Getafe win & give hope

Different story at GETAFE which started in the relegation positions & won tonight 2 - 0 to get out at the expense of ALMERIA who says GOODBYE to the Spanish League. COLUNGA put Getafe ahead in the 4th min & PEDRO RIOS gave a second in the 53rd min. Getafe are still in danger but have greater hopes, while I send my best wishes to all the wonderful fans at Almeria who see their team drop.

Toquero for Athletic de Bilbao

Great match between ATHLETIC DE BILBAO & LEVANTE with the home team winning 3 - 2 in a game that complicated itself for Bilbao. The win strengthens Bilbao´s claim for a Euro place as they attempt to "fend off" Sevilla & Atletico de Madrid.

Bilbao dominated most of the game with TOQUERO scoring in the 30th min, DAVID LOPEZ in the 47th via a penalty & FERNANDO LLORENTE in the 62nd. But things went wrong & Levente nearly surprised Bilbao with two quick goals from STUANI in the 77th min & NANO in the 85th min. Levante nearly spoiled the party!

League-Spanish
Young Giovani MVP for Racing

Vital victory by RACING DE SANTANDER away 2 - 3 to HERCULES that puts the latter deeper into the relegation black hole. It was an intense match as one would expect between two teams playing for their Spanish League future & that saw a direct Red Card to Hercules Valdes in the 60th min.

Young GIOVANI is getting better with games & is directly responsable to have helped Racing at this critical end part of the season. Two goals from the player in the 13th & 40th min along with team-mate HENRIQUE in the 46th min. For Hercules there failed attempt gave two goals from SENDOA in the 39th min & THIAGO in the 42th min that wasn´t enough.

Spanish Soccer
Valencia CF back in the groove

VALENCIA CF has the main objective of cementing the Spanish Football League 3rd place on the ladder & defeated REAL SOCIEDAD 3 - 0. ROBERTO SOLDADO keeps knocking them in & scored two goals in the 16th & 37th min, along with JONAS in the 25th min.

The loss for Real Sociedad puts them dangerously in the orbit of the relegation zone "black hole". Warning lights at San Sebastian.

Spanish Football
Atletico de Madrid - Malaga

Never is an team ("animal") more dangerous than when injured. ATLETICO DE MADRID found that out with MALAGA losing 0 - 3 at home as the latter are fighting to survive in the Spanish Football 1º Division. A heavy blow for Atletico as their faint Champions League aspirations disappear & their Europa League plans are now in danger.

As expected a very hard fought out game which was very physical as both teams went all out in their endevours. But it was Malaga that got ahead via RONDON in the 29th min & that man again, BAPTISTA in the 35th min.

Atletico attempted to recover from this shock but the "nail in the coffin" came in the 84th min via MARESCA to put things beyond the home side. Celebrations for Malaga that makes a big leap into the mid positions of the ladder, while Atletico de Madrid underestimated the  fighting spirit of their adversary tonight.

Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick man

SEVILLA FC lost 2 - 6 to REAL MADRID & thus delays any festive actions that FC Barcelona may have had in mind in celebrating tomorrow because mathematically they cannot claim the Spanish League Title just as yet. Apart from this,  the Spanish Football League Top Goal scorer for season 2010-2011 prize - "El Pichichi" - slanted towards CRISTIANO RONALDO with his 4 goals ( HAT-TRICK) tonight ( 30th , 64th, 70th & 76th min). The other goals for Real Madrid came via SERGIO RAMOS with a header that opened proceedings in the 21st min & KAKA that managed his in the 41st min.

The match was dominated by Real Madrid most of the time except for small burst periods in the second half when Sevilla FC got their rewards & goals via ALVARO NEGERDO in the 60th min, & again the same player late in the 84th min.

To end, three matches tomorrow to finish off Round 35, with Barça included,  & without doubt Lionel Messi aiming to cancel out & pull back some goals in the head to head clash with Ronaldo for the "Pichichi" award.
