SPAIN TEAM LINE UP AGAINST HONDURAS | THE BASE INTACT WITH POSSIBLE "FINE TUNING"

Source: Spanish Football Sprts Blog /
The SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM is back at its HQ & training to meet next Monday Honduras in their 2º game of Group H. This match has become a FINAL as a loss here will virtually condemn the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM to arrive back home before expected & craete the biggest upset of the 2010 World Cup. In fact SPAIN has to score plenty of goals because there is a “mathematical” possibility that 3 teams could end up with the same points & goal difference will then be the key.

While the SPAIN WORLD CUP TEAM regroups, the great news is the ANDRES INIESTA is OK & fit, plus SERGIO RAMOS is fine & has no problems with his ribs. The “philosophical” debate now is whether Spain plays with 2 “contention” midfielders in their game against Honduras. The debate has opened after the surprise defeat against Switzerland where Spain went in with Xabi Alonso & Busquets in the starting 11 , with many observers commenting that perhaps just 1 “contention” midfielder would have been enough to allow put another attacker upfront.

The SPAIN TEAM LINE UP against Honduras could well see a “slight” modification. Honduras in theory is the less strong team of the group & Spain will need to score plenty of goals. Therefore, Busquets may be sacrificed for this particular game to have either attacking Cesc Fabragas or Fernando Torres starting from the beginning. This is the local talk at the moment, but it is pure speculation at this stage with the Honduras game still 3 days away.

What is certain is the every match from now on for the SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM will be a particular final, circumstance that happens & unfortunately occurs when a team doesn’t win its opening Group game. Now it is all uphill & with a load of pressure on the teams back as the immediate “short-term” objective is to qualify from their Group. If this objective can be reached it then becomes a more even playing field with all teams in this stage under the same pressure, same chances & in the same “Football - Soccer Casino”.

I think starting Fabregas would be the best way to go and then have Torres come on later as he is still not fully fit

I think Spain should start with two strikers (a win against Honduras is a must): Fernando Torres and David Villa. I hope Spain plays a 4-4-2 (4-2-2-2) formation. This is the line up I would like to see:
Casillas (GK)
----------
Ramos (RFB)
Piqué (RCB)
Puyol (LCB)
Capdevila (LFB)
----------
Xabi Alonso (RCM)
Xavi (LCM)
Jesús Navas (RW)
David Silva (LW)
----------
Fernando Torres (RCF)
David Villa (LCF)

If Torres and Villa aren't up to the challenge, I'd love to see Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Llorente up front, one of the most underrated strikers out there.
