FC BARCELONA defeated DYNAMO KIEV 2-0 in an interesting &
entertaining match. Full credit & praise to Dynamo who went for the
game until the end, they even had their chances with a goal being
called off-side in the latter part of the 1ºhalf.
However, Barça are true to their style of ball dominance & touch
Football & opened the can via MESSI in the 24th min. See VIDEO
of goal:
As mentioned, Dynamo continued to go after the match & created
problems for Barça who had many, many chances but were foiled by
a firm Ukrainian defence. After many attempts & close calls, Barça
youngster & substitute PEDRO scored his teams second goal in the
76th min. From here Barça controlled & managed the match shutting
out Dynamo´s last effort attacks.
Summary, good win for Barça who fought & had it tough against a
proud & good Kiev team; well done! Good play from Iniesta who is
regaining form, Ibrahimovic who was unlucky not to score, Messi &
Xavi.

SFS has been saying for weeks that SEVILLA FC has a great & very
impressive team this season, & that they are going to surprise many
folk. Tonight at "Ibrox Park" they demolished the home team GLASGOW
RANGERS 1-4 in a exhibition of "Total Football" that was evident
especially in the 2º half.
Sevilla FC scored first with a header from KONKO in the 50th min
...see VIDEO:
From here Rangers disappeared off the field. ADRIANO scored the
second in the 64th min, followed by LUIS FABIANO in the 72th min
& lastly KANOUTE two minutes later. What fire power!
Glasgow Rangers managed a consolation goal by their Spanish player
NACHO NOVO in the 88th min.
Conclusion: Sevilla FC steam-rolled Rangers. Beware of Sevilla FC they
have a brilliantly balanced outfit, they can easily go far!

REAL MADRID TAKES ITS 2009-10 SIGNINGS TO THE HEIGHTS
SFS realizes it risks falling into the apparent idea that it is pro-Real
Madrid, far from it, as SFS only attempts to satisfy its Global lectures
& believe me there are plenty of petitions to the SFS email for
REAL MADRID photos & paraphanelia now that Ronaldo, Kaká &
company have joined, especially from the Asian friends.
(photo:marca.com)
Real Madrid TV today took the new 2009-2010 signings to the top of
the "Torre Europa" building next to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for
a TV report that had other media invited. As you can see all 8
new signings were present: Albiol, Granero, Xabi Alonso, Kaká,
Ronaldo, Benzema, Arbeloa & Garay( back from loan) were in a happy
& casual mood.
Below is a short VIDEO of the event:
Hope this quenches the thirst of the Real Madrid fans :-)
Barça, Atletico, Valencia, Sevilla...etc fans; SFS will be putting these
sort of posts up when the Clubs in question make them available. Tweet

a 4-1 victory ( goals: Laudrup, Bakero – twice & Koeman).
Today is the 16th Anniversary of this game as FC Barcelona plays

NEW SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM OUTFIT DESIGN
Long live Marketing. The Spanish National Football Team will soon
be wearing a "new" designed outfit recuperating the more traditional
“Red Furia” look for the upcoming 2010 World Cup finals. The home
team colours will be as the image below, while the away look will
be predominantly “Marino blue”.
The team is expected to debut with the “new look” the 14th of
November when Spain plays a friendly game against Argentina in
Madrid – if Argentina do not have to play the World Cup qualifiers.
So if you just bought the current shirt, guess what, your old news.

U/20 FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: NIGERIA 0 - SPAIN 2
SPAIN defeated NIGERIA 2-0 this afternoon in their Group B
qualifying game of the U/20 FIFA World Championship being
held in Egypt. The victory guarantees that Spain will be in the
next phase & quarter finals, although they still have to play
Venezuela.
FRAN MERIDA scored the two goals for Spain, the first in the 14th min
& then he transformed a penalty in the 83rd min in “Panenka” style.
Special mention should go out to Spanish & Atletico de Madrid
goalkeeper SERGIO ASENJO who stopped everything that Nigeria
threw at Spain to play a vital role in the team victory.
Here are more details of line-ups:
Nigeria 0: Okafor; Lawal, Adejo, Edet, Orelesi; Osanga, N. Obiora,
Ikande (I. Rabiu, m.41), Ohawuchi (Salami, m.62); Ighalo & Fatai

REAL MADRID: BLACK MAGIC & VOODOO USED TO STOP CRISTIANO RONALDO
REAL MADRID has received a formal letter from an “old friend” that
he has been hired by a client that is well known in Spain & knows
CRISTIANO RONALDO personally to practice his art of “VOODOO” to
cause the Portuguese a serious injury. The objective is to have him
off the field injured more than playing.
(photo: elmundo.com)
This has been reported by Spanish newspaper elmundo.com, which
has also given a long history of previous times in the past that this
“individual” has used his “powers” to destabilize Real Madrid, e.g.
2006 when under Coach Capello Real Madrid went through a terrible
streak that nearly cost the Italian his employment.
The Spanish paper has omitted the name of the “witch doctor” &
whom the client is that he is working for, although – without any proof
at all – one can suspect an ex-girlfriend & Spanish model that has
never quite got over the break up, not to mention her unbalanced mind.
Add to this the objective of both these persons to find some publicity &
cheap fame & you have the 1 + 2 = 3 formula that may lead to ideas
& the true motives behind this bizarre story.
The supposed “magic man” adds that he has nothing against Real
Madrid, nor has he anything against Ronaldo, in fact he likes the
man, but he is a professional & has already set up all the elements
(photos...etc,) at his “magic cave” (home) to beginning his occult
work. Let’s hope that nothing does happen to Cristiano Ronaldo,
although if by coincidence & by a normal accident something was to
occur the “Voodoo man” can then claim that he was behind it all -
alas the "key to the question".
The SFS investigative journalist team went undercover to film the
supposed “Voodoo” man in action. SFS team risked their lives to get
out with this brief video of the man in action just before the Real
Madrid vs Tenerife game last Saturday; coincidently Ronaldo had a
terrible day!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009 / 2010 - ROUND 5 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

with results, images & scorers.
MALLORCA came back on track with a convincing 3-0 win over
VALLADOLID. The opening goal came early via NUNES (above)
in the 3rd min, with the last two fought out with ADURIZ in the
70th & VALERO 72th min. Mallorca surprisingly are riding high.
(photo:Marca.com)
REAL ZARAGOZA needed a win & they managed to "crush" GETAFE
3-0, the latter totally out played & out of position all match. Zaragoza
defender PAVON headed the opener in the 16th min & his team-mate
AGUILAR scored twice ( 23rd & 81st min) to seal things. Important
three points for Zaragoza over an unknown Getafe.
(photo: marca.com)
Second straight victory for OSASUNA over an unlucky REAL SPORTING
DE GIJÓN with a minimal 1-0 win. The only goal was scored in the 56th
min with a penalty which NEKOUNAM converted.
(photo: marca.com)
Great match between ESPANYOL & XEREZ that finished in an anti-
ALMERIA camback to equalize & finish in a 2-2 draw against RACING.

The latter got ahead via CRUSAT in the 16th min but slowly lost control
to Racing who equalized via TCHITE in the 59th min. Racing continued
with its dominance & went ahead via LACEN in the 71st min. Then Racing
"went to sleep" & paid the price as Almeria equalized & turned the game
with a 89th min goal by UCHE.
DEPORTIVO defeated 1-0 a VILLAREAL team who is surprisingly
disappointing everyone with their low form. They are currently in
the bottom part of the ladder, a place not habitual for them. The
only goal came early from JUCA in the 6th min, & Villareal tried hard
from there all match but did not find the break through.

VALENCIA CF: LIVERPOOL FC PREPARING A 50M€ OFFER FOR DAVID VILLA?
Imagine LIVERPOOL FC with FERNANDO TORRES & Spanish
International & Valencia CF striker DAVID VILLA? According to
English media Liverpool FC Coach Rafael Benitez wishes to
make this a reality. The rumour is that Benitez has asked
Liverpool owners to put aside around 50M€ for a possible
offer in the upcoming “Winter Market” &/or for next season.
(photo: David Villa_marca.com/afp)
Although David Villa has always looked unfavourably at changing to
England recent events may convince the Spaniard to make the
move. Both Real Madrid & FC Barcelona have their Nº 9 positions
covered for the next coming years, Villa has recently criticised his
Club Coach Emery for his “conservative” tactics & is aware that
he may go another year without a title. Villa may see Liverpool as
the “last boat” to win titles & allow him to showcase himself on
the World stage. Plus the fact that Torres & Pepe Reina would be
team-mates will help in his adaptation to a new country, language
& culture.
Stay tuned, as SFS is sure that Liverpool FC is not the only team
who will be making offers for the Spaniard in the future. Tweet

Ronaldo action this time on the field. Have a look at the video:

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 5 SATURDAY GAMES RESULT
The Spanish Clubs participating in Champions League had their Round
5 games of "La Liga" down for tonight with four matches full of goals.
Here is a quick summary of events, results & the scorers.
(photo: Negredo - elmundo.com)
ATHLETIC DE BILBAO had their winning streak stopped by a very
impressive SEVILLA FC who beat them without any doubts 0-4.
Sevilla FC has a splendid & well balanced side that will certainly
be up in the classification table giving both Barça & Real Madrid
a tough time.RENATO started things off with a great free-kick
in the 5th min to put Sevilla ahead. ALVARO NEGREDO then
scored in the 20th min to later have KANOUTE score the 3ºrd goal
for Sevilla in the 45th min to put the "cherry" on an excellent 1ºhalf
performance.
The 2ºnd half saw Bilbao organize itself somewhat but Sevilla was
soon in the groove & again scored in the 75th min via JESUS NAVAS
from a Negredo pass.
(photo:Benzema/el.mundo.com_efe:Victor.Lerena)
REAL MADRID defeated TENERIFE 3-0 but it was a bad &
disappointing game from Madrid. The team starting line up had
5 changes from last time (Pepe, Xabi, Drenthe, Raúl & Benzema)
& as one could expect so much changes does not help settle the
team at all. So much so, that the 1ºst half Real Madrid had no
idea of what it was doing & allowed Tenerife to have its chances
& grow in confidence. Believe me, everyone watching was
baffled at what was going on with Real Madrid, one wonders
at times if Coach Pellegrini really understands what he
wishes from his team.
The second half saw Ramos (injury) & Granero substituted, to
have Lass Diarra again go to the right back position & thus allow
Kaká & Guti a place in the midfield, this changed things. With
Kaká on the ball things flowed & the team found purpose, so
much that BENZEMA scored twice ( 47th & 58th min) with a header
& later from a defensive mistake. Then in the 77th min KAKÁ s
scored a great goal from outside the box…SEE VIDEO:
Tenerife had more chances in the 2ºhalf & could have scored had
not Casillas made a couple of great saves. Real won but Tenerife were
brave & at times unlucky.
Some observations; Roanldo looked a bit “piss-off” with his
substitution & it is hoped that it won’t bring any mid to long
term "problems". Defender Pepe looked very good & he is a
definite asset to the team. Overall, the Real Madrid “machine”
still isn’t working 100% & doubts exist in the way Pellegrini is
managing the squad with so much changes that gives the impression
he is attempting to make everyone happy but that is hampering the
building of a team, a solid team with clear ideas.
(photo: elmundo.com_ap_sergio.torres)
FC BARCELONA seems to be having a parallel history with its rival
Real Madrid, they managed to win away to MALAGA 0-2 but played
way below their level. The only reasonable way to explain it maybe
that Barça had their heads in Champions next week.
Malaga was dominant early with Barça uneasy in its defence & then
having bad luck when Thierry Henry pulled a muscle & was taken
off. His substitute IBRAHIMOVIC came on & scored in an opportunistic
fashion in the 39th min that settled his team down a bit.
Malaga continued with its confident & good play as they took the
ball away from Barça & pressured them on all fronts. Barça Coach
Guardiola had to bring on the proven & solid defender from his rest
to ensure things: PIQUE. It seemed to work as he scored Barça
second goal in the 59th min & put some order back into the defence
& into Barça ´s touch game.
These two goals seemed to psychologically affect Malaga who must
have felt that all their hard work & opportunities meant little as
tonight was not their night. This allowed Barça to regain the control
of this very awkward match & they ensured the result till its finish.
(photo: Pablo Hernandez/ellevante.com)
VALENCIA CF managed to turn around its game against ATLETICO
DE MADRID & then see it draw 2-2. Both are going through a
"crisis", but Atletico is nearly "terminal" as they had Valencia on the
ropes nearly "dead" in the 1ºhalf & allowed Valencia to stand up &
score two goals in 2 minutes that complicated Atletico´s game,
until the sky opened up for a last minute equalizer.
SERGIO AGUERO scored early for Atletico in the 6th min when Valencia
was a disaster in defence & ready for the picking. Then Aguero missed
a certain goal & Forlan was unlucky as well, two events that Atletico
would pay dearly later & take it all unnecessarily right to the edge.
Suddenly everything changed, Atletico collapsed in defence & PABLO
HERNANDEZ scored a great goal in the 24th min to equalize to see
DAVID VILLA put his team ahead - a knock-out punch!
Atletico recovered slowly from here, they "bettered" their play
in the 2ºhalf, had numerous chances & were unlucky not to score. But
they were paying the price of not "killing off" the opponent when
they were on their knees, as Valencia was the first 23 minutes of this
game. Then a MIRACLE, MAXI RODRIGUEZ equalized in the last
minute.
Atletico Coach Tomas Abel grabs oxygen but may have his days
numbered as the next match will be Champions & a loss there
may put another nail in his future. Valencia Coach Emery saved
himself tonight, but just, as he is also on a very fine line & may fall
off at any moment, there seems to be a "dressing room revolt"
at Valencia. Emery substitute decisions & conservative
tactics are being questioned & tonight the Atletico draw maybe
questioned as another wrong decison by taking off a midfielder for
a defensive player.
But the big worry, almost panic is the "slow death" at Atletico
if things do not radically change, even if they managed to pull of
a last minute draw tonight. Tonight´s result gave Atletico
oxygen, but that is about all - until the next game! Tweet

himself tonight, but just, as he is also on a very fine line & may fall
off at any moment, there seems to be a "dressing room revolt"
at Valencia.
Tweet
FERNANDO TORRES HAT-TRICK: LIVERPOOL FC 6 - HULL CITY 1

REAL MADRID: MARADONA CALLS UP HIGUAÍN
Argentina plays it´s World Cup 2010 future against Peru &
Uruguay in the next South American qualifiers. Coach Diego Armando
Maradona has suffered a serious "knock" to his pride & seems to
be listening to others & their advise, plus seeing some reason.

Finally REAL MADRID forward GONZALO HIGUAÍN has been called
up to the Argentine National Team by Diego Maradona who has put
aside "personal differences" for the apparent good of the squad. We
hope that Coach Maradona will know were to place Higuaín & get
the best from the Real Madrid player who has been in great form &
is "exploding" as a Footballer - if he does get to play. Tweet

ATLETICO DE MADRID: THE "HIDDEN" SIGNAL IN THE FORLAN CONTRACT RENEWAL
ATLETICO DE MADRID has extended the contract with its Uruguayan
star Forward DIEGO FORLAN until 2013. This has been accompanied
with a 1,5M€ pay rise that puts his salary at around 4,5M€/year. The
Club this way rewards the “loyalty”, professionalism & great
performance from the forward after gaining the European Golden
Boot last season with 32 goals. Everyone now hopes that this boost
to his confidence will allow Forlan to find top form again & help
Atletico de Madrid get out of its disastrous start in the Spanish League
where it current has only 2 points from 4 games & is second last on
the table.
The notable thing from this renovation is that the contract “release
clause” remains at 36M€, an accessible price in today’s transfer
market which signals that the player did not wish to shut the
backdoor escape opportunity if needed. It is unwritten knowledge
that if Atletico de Madrid doesn’t live up to expectations this season
& continues with its title dry spell, that Forlan will most likely leave
the Spanish Club next season (possibly along with Aguero) to play at
a Club that can give him his last “big” chance on the European &
World stage with 32 years of age. Atletico has entered into a
“vicious-circle” of image that without titles they will not be able
to retain star players with “global” ambitions nor will they be able
attract World star players to sign for the Club.
How did they get so far?
REAL MADRID: CRISTIANO RONALDO FIRST BIG SPANISH TV INTERVIEW (SEE VIDEO)
CRISTIANO RONALDO gave his first big length Spanish TV Interview
today. Unfortunately for non-Spanish speaking readers you may not
understand, although SFS does have many Spanish speaking visitors
that maybe glad to have a watch...SEE VIDEO:
Brief summary & very rough traslation :
.Happy to be in Spain, very happy at Real, a team I have dreamt for
years to play
.Still adapting to Spain, Real Madrid & his team-mates
.On the field your different than at the TV, more timid? Answer,
perhaps like many things need to get to know beforehand
.He saw the goal of yesterday against Villarreal. It’s not my best,
but one off the best.
.I had a free path & took full advantage. I dedicated to Raul because
he predicted I would score a goal
.Thank god things are going well thanks to my team-mates
.I may have been anxious at the beginning it’s normal, but with hard
work & doing what I did at Manchester things fall into place
.People boo you away, Ronaldo says he is accustomed to it - things
of Football
.You upset defenders with your fanny foot work…It’s my way of
playing since a youngster & I will continue to play this way
.Ronaldo feels the warmth of the fans here in Madrid
.Complex to do your daily life? Ronaldo has time for the right things
at the right moment. One needs to choose the places he goes to
.Ronaldo & Kaká take the penalties
.Really happy scoring my first official goal (penalty)
.A minute test ….question – answer …food, music, virtues, defects…etc
& etc
.Barça , a great Club with great players…well synchronized team
.Golden Ball? I won it once, I’m cool about it, could win it again
sometime in the future, its possible.
Hope this rough translation helped somewhat, guys! Tweet

REAL MADRID: PEPE READY TO COMEBACK AFTER A 10 GAME SUSPENSION
REAL MADRID & Portuguese International defender PEPE became
famous not for his defensive Football skills but for his violent
outburst – fists & kicks included - against Casquero of Getafe in a
“Liga” game that cost him a 10 match suspension for the
“brutality” that he exhibited.
With that sentence served, PEPE is eligible & available for his team
for the upcoming “Liga” match against Tenerife if his Coach sees
the need. Pepe is considered one of the World’s Best Defenders &
no one doubts that his presence will add class & the security that
Real Madrid needs in an area that has been criticised of late. The
player himself has commented in a Press Conference that the
aggression is a thing of the past & now he wishes to prove the type
of correct person he is really. All he desires is to return, play &
help his side achieve the objectives set for his season.
We hope Pepe never does this ever again…SEE VIDEO:

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 4 WEDNESDAY GAMES RESULTS (RONALDO & LEON GOALS VIDEO)
Seven games tonight of Round 4 in the "Liga" with its usual mix of
action, goals & last minute surprises. Here is a summary of tonights
scores & results:
REAL MADRID left Benzema & Raul on the bench to change its system
to 4-3-3 ( or 4-2-3-1) & saw how defender Garay injuried himself in
the warm up. This lead to a "revolutionary change" in the defence
with Casillas, Lass Diarra, Albiol, Ramos & Marcelo as defenders, Gago,
Granero, Guti, Kaká as midfielders with Higuaín & Ronaldo upfront.
Real Madrid scored in the 2min after a lighting run by CRISTIANO
RONALDO down the wing which finished in goal...SEE VIDEO:
ALL TO LOAD:
Ronaldo was brilliant tonight!
Villareal were "shell shocked" from this as Ronaldo was running riot
from then onwards. Villareal then went down to 10 men for double
yellow to Gonzalo & that gave Madrid more advantage. Real Madrid
looked more solid tonight in defence & in its game as Guti, Gago,
Granero & Lass were doing an outstanding job, along with Ramos who
was like a "fish in water" as a Central Defender.
The 2ºhalf saw Real Madrid relax & Villareal with its 10 men was putting
up a good show until a penalty was rewarded to Real in the 72th min
which KAKÁ converted. From here smooth sailing with the only thing
to mention the return to the field of M.DIARRA after his long injury.

ATLETICO DE MADRID continue down its slippery & dangerous path
with a missed penalty by Forlan & a last minute equalizer that took the
victory out off their hands. The game finished 2-2 against ALMERIA
with the home crowd in an furious uproar as Atletico turned
consevative after leading & defensive to let slip the victory.
PIATTI scored in the 25th min for Almeria to start things, after Forlan
missed early a penalty for Atletico. CLEBER SANTANA equalized for
Atletico 2 mins later to bring back same calmness. Then in the 56th min
DIEGO FORLAN made up for his earlier mistake & put Atletico ahead.
Then for some mysterious reason Atletico played defensively & paid
the price with PIATTI equalizing for Almeria in the last moment. Bad
times are blowin...

0-3 with goals from JUCA with a 25th min free-kick, GOIDA with
his own goal & RIKI in the 78th min

OSASUNA finally got its reward for a hard fought game against
VALLADOLID with its 1-2 victory. PANDIANI put Osasuna ahead
in the 24th min to see later COSTA equalize in the 49th for Valladolid.
But GALAN got the winner for Osasuna in the 72th min. Important
win for Osasuna!

ESPANYOL managed a second straight win at home against MALAGA
2-1 with goals from SAHAR & ALONSO all in the second half & with a
great comeback. Malaga managed to get ahead earlier thanks to
FERNANDO who scored in the 27th back slowly his team lost
the control.

This match was fought out till the end with a "surprise" result as
TENERIFE grabbed its victory at home against ATHLETIC DE
BILBAO in the last minute thanks to ALONSO. Final result
1-0 to which Athletic will be really disappointed with Tenerife
totally opposite in thought, their perserverence paid off.

Surprise at GETAFE who won one of the title contenders VALENCIA
CF 3-1 in a grand fashion that outplayed the latter with class Football.
DAVID VILLA put Valencia ahead in the 21st min but that was all &
basically it. From here Getafe took over with MANU equalizing a
minute later & then putting Getafe ahead in the 37th min.
The 2ºhalf saw bad defensive mistakes by Valencia & a Getafe side
in control, & then LEON scored a fantastic free kick that beat the
keeper Moya to put Getafe 3-1 in the 68th min & ensure their
victory...SEE VIDEO:

Sevilla FC controlled the game from here onwards with sporadic
signs of danger from Mallorca there onwards. In fact, Sevilla could
have gone further in the goal tally had Adriano, Negredo & Fabiano
taken their chances in the 2º half.

REAL MADRID: WHAT´S BETTER 4-2-4, 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-3?
Too much of a good thing, this maybe the dilemma that is rattling the
mind of REAL MADRID Coach Pellegrini as he figures out how to
balance & create a clock working team. The observations & the
experience up till now show a potential dependence on midfielder
Xabi Alonso as “Director of the Orchestra” & a lack of a stable ongoing
tactical set up in the team’s line-ups. What is the best system for his
stock of World Class stars: 4-4-2; 4- 2-2-2 or 4-3-3? It may look a
numerical sequence from “Matrix” & you could be correct by
observing how the team is playing till now, but it’s the finding of this
“correct” combination that is leading to debate.
Basically the “Neo-Real Madrid” team is currently unbalanced, that is
too much blitz fire-power upfront that leaves the defensive positions
undermanned &/or the opposite, there is an “over-population” up
front were current starters Ronaldo, Benzema, Raúl & Kaká basically
step on each other. This has been due to the up till now preferred
4-2-4 system made famous by Real Madrid back into the 50s & 60s,
but is it valid today? Initially it seems not, & it is not because there
aren’t players to make it happen, it’s because there isn’t enough
specific & specialized midfielders to keep the whole team structure
glued & cover so much midfield space. Xabi Alonso is perhaps the only
midfielder in the World with the characteristics to make a 4-2-4
system work properly, as not only does he defend the spaces left
open by his team-mates as they join the waves of attacks, he also
has the capacity to pause, settle, reflect, choose & then feed with
short or long passes directly to the forwards to follow the song to
dance to. This of course, is made easier for Alonso if you have on
your flanks & looking over your shoulder a powerful & disciplined
player like Lassana Diarra who is a locomotive engine.
What if Xabi gets injured, like in the Champions League match against
Zurich in the 2ºhalf & with Real Madrid leading 3-0? The immediate
result was 2 goals from Zurich in 5 minutes that sent the shivers down
the spine of the whole team until Coach Pellegrini put the band-aids
on, or the alternative option: a 4-3-3 system where the team settled &
Therefore, what seemingly are the apparent merits of the 4-3-3 system
over the more utilized 4-2-4:
1. The consolidation of the midfield that facilitates the possession &
control of the ball, to then be able to feed more often the “hungry”
forwards with class passes directing the strikers into spaces to work
their magic.
2. The decongestion of the forward line; Ronaldo needs space to
attack defenders, to run at the goal & weave his way into to spaces
to make crosses & to shot. Kaká needs space to run & direct the play
plus have his shots at goal, while Benzema is a vertical player that
receives the ball, turns & then runs at the goal with his power to look
for the goal. They all need SPACE.
3. The creative element; it gives more playing options to the team.
4. Allows the defending wingers to attack with confidence knowing
that there will be enough midfielders to cover their tracks. It’s another
strategy available that opens up the creativity possibility of the whole
team without halting the natural characteristics of Marcelo & Sergio
Ramos who wish to join the attack.
This may sound easy, but the actual application of the 4-3-3 system
could be experiencing some “political” problems. Real Madrid has
invested a huge amount of money in “attacking” players, & then there
is the “Raul issue”: who do you leave out? If you leave on the bench
Raúl, Ronaldo, Benzema …etc. you could cause discontent in the
dressing room & destroy the delicate equilibrium of a “star studded”
squad. Up till now the team line-up from the midfield to goal that
appears is the most effective – by observation – would be: Xabi, Lass,
Guti, Káka, Higuaín & Ronaldo. At first sight we don’t see Raul nor
do we see Benzema, not to mention Granero although the later is
less problematic.

mind of REAL MADRID Coach Pellegrini as he figures out how to
balance & create a clock working team.
Xabi Alonso is perhaps the only
midfielder in the World with the characteristics to make a 4-2-4
system work properly, as not only does he defend the spaces left
open by his team-mates as they join the waves of attacks, he also
has the capacity to pause, settle, reflect, choose & then feed with
short or long passes directly to the forwards to follow the song to
dance to. This of course, is made easier for Alonso if you have on

on, or the alternative option: a 4-3-3 system where the team settled &
scored two more goals to win a "tricky" match. Here the debate; again
highlighted last Sunday in the “Liga” game against Xerez in which the
latter had Real Madrid on the ropes for 74 mins, until the 4-2-4 system
changed to 4-3-3 with Granero & Guti joining Diarra in the center. Once
this "alternative" system took hold Real Madrid scored 4 goals in 15
minutes as they overrun with their fire-power the opposite team. Guti,
who is the supposed “creative” midfielder has already scored twice
when he has come on, this in itself is saying something.

So what’s the solution? SFS does not wish to give an answer for
something it cannot presume to know more than the Real Madrid
Coach or the professional’s who make a living from this all. What SFS
does observe from its amateur position is that a 4-3-3 system seems
the most appropriate system for this particular squad that solves the
many tactical playing issues, but to enforce it needs some tough
decisions for the final good of the team as a whole & above the
interest of individual obligations or needs. SFS believes that Coach
Pellegrini is currently attempting to satisfy everyone, maintain the
very delicate dressing room cohesion & balance by giving everyone
a run on the field that in the short term a 4-2-4 system solves &
maybe good, but that in the mid to long term may play a more
negative role than positive as it does not help too settle the team.
This last point should be the objective, & attempt to be achieved
as quickly as possible.

No one said it would be easy with so much new players & big stars;
there are no doubts that it is more complex than what it appears to
the outside & to simple observers like SFS. But it’s the fundamental
element of success: to build a TEAM. To date Real Madrid is a squad
of World Class individuals achieving the teams results via individual
actions, this is not the way, as sacrifice – & tough decisions – will
be needed to create an enduring, settled, stable & balanced outfit.
The 4-2-4 system is an apparent attempt to satisfy & make everyone
happy, but it’s not working. A 4-3-3 system seems to work much
better, but it risks the creation of potential problems in the near to
mid future. So what is better? The answer must be, what’s best for
the whole Team, as some players will need to understand this concept
& others will need to apply it.

As we began our post saying; too much of a good thing. It´s
paradoxical, it´s every Coach´s dream to have a squad with all
the Best Players in The World & yet there are difficulties. It all boils
down to making a Team. What are your thoughts?

EUROBASKET 2009: SPAIN DEFEATS SERBIA 85-63 TO BECOME EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS
SPAIN won SERBIA 85 - 63 in the final of the EUROBASKET 2009 to
finally take the "thorn out of its side" & proclaim themselves EUROPEAN

BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS 2009. It was surprising to see the total
dominance of the Spaniards over the Serbs considering the latter had
defeated the former earlier on. Let´s remember, that Spain were
close to "going home" after their poor initial start to the tournament.
However, the Spanish team managed to regroup & bring out all their
Basketball talent, which made them the current World Champions &
Olympic Silver Medal team.
LA Laker NBA Champion PAU GASOL was voted MVP of the Eurobasket,
& was joined in the "EuroTeam" by team-mate Rudy Fernandez.
Greece finished third after defeating Slovenia.
Congratulations to the Spanish National Basketball Team!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 3 SUNDAY NIGHT RESULTS (VIDEO RONALDO & VAN NISTELROOY)
Five games scheduled today to finish off Round 3 of "La Liga" with
Real Madrid taking the top of the ladder after defeating Xerez, along
with Athletic de Bilbao, Valladolid & Almeria grabbing their 3 points.
REAL MADRID started their game against bottom side XEREZ like
this thanks to CRISTIANO RONALDO (See video):
47 seconds & it seemed it would be a "white-wash" ( never better
said) but it went to worse as Xerez went for it & made Real Madrid
look like a very ordinary side. Xerez brought out all the weakness that
Real are currently experiencing; from defensive problems, midfield
discoordination & lack of team cohesion that had the face of Coach
Pellegrini & Directives with serious looks.
It was´nt until the mid 2ºhalf with the coming on of Granero (Raul),
Guti (Kaká) & later Van Nistelrooy (Ronaldo) that things miraculously
changed when CRISTIANO RONALDO scored his second & Real Madrid´s
in the 75 min with a corner header.
Then the "flood gates" opened as GUTI reorganized the midfield & he
himself scored his teams 3ºgoal in the 78th min.
KARIM BENZEMA had done nothing until the 81st min when he
managed to get his 1ºst Liga goal & the fourth for his team. The
Frenchmen had been suffering from anxiety & it showed in his play.
The confidence placed on him be Coach Pellegrini to allow him to stay
on & get this "goal" weight off his shoulders was admirable. Then in
the 89th min a Guti pass allowed VAN NISTELROOY to score the
teams 5th & bring the house down with cheer as the fans welcomed
him back after a long period of injury. See VIDEO:
Real Madrid take the ladders top spot & Ronaldo is now the "Liga"
leading scorer after this 5-0 win, but this result fools as the image
presented by Real Madrid against the last placed team was horrible
until the 75th min.Real Madrid still needs to improve & a lot.
VALLADOLID fought back to grab a valuable win 1- 2 against REAL
ZARAGOZA who will be disappointed with this result at home.
MARCOS put Valladolid ahead in the 3rd min, but Zaragoza regained
their composure & equalized in the 25th min via JORGE LOPEZ.
However, Valladolid sealed it in the 56th min when SISI scored
the winner.
ALMERIA won 1-0 GETAFE simply because they took their limited
opportunities while Getafe dominated & failed to convert. The only
goal & winner came in the 48th min thats to MICHEL & from here
Getafe just couldn´t get back.
ATHLETIC DE BILBAO continue with its "magic run" with another
victory, this time 3-2 against VILLAREAL. LLORENTE was outstanding
once again with two goals in the 10th & 39th min with the other team
goal coming from JAVI MARTINEZ. Villareal did a good work in fighting
back with goals from CANI in the 49th min & a free-kick goal from
CARZOLA in the 85th min, but it was too late. Athletic is up there in the
ladder positions.
VALENCIA CF wasn´t able to defeat REAL SPORTING DE GIJÓN with
only 10 men & the match finished in a 2-2 draw. DAVID VILLA scored
twice for Valencia ( 23rd & 60th min) to see how BARRAL scored early
in the 6th min & GREGORY in the 86th min that was the reward for his
teams insistence & fighting spirit. Tweet
