SPANISH SPORTS | GERMAN MOTO GP 2011 | ALL THREE CATEGORIES FOR SPANISH RIDERS

SPANISH SPORTS had a magnificent day at Germany today, concretely at the Sachsenring race circuit where the German MOTO GP in all three catagories was celebrated. Spanish riders won in all the three catagories for the second time in a row, with podium places & great performance improvements all round.

Spanish Sports
Dani Pedrosa

In the GP category, Spaniard DANI PEDROSA won in grand fashion after being out due to a broken collar bone earlier in the season after a fall with Simonceli. In Italy last week he made a timid comeback & finished mid pack,  but today he proved his recovery is complete with a runaway victory. In second place, Spaniard & current World Champ JORGE LORENZO came in second & managed to pull back 4 points away from Australian Casey Stoner who came in third after experiencing tyre wear problems at the end.

Special mention to Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista who came in 7th in one of his best performances in Moto GP this season.

MOTOGP 2011 | SEASON KICKS OFF IN QATAR | SPANISH RIDER NICO TEROL LEADER IN 125CC

Have to be honest, its been a too long a break & waiting for the start of the 2011 MOTOGP season. Tonight the season kicked off in Qatar under lights with mixed results for Spanish riders , but with an overall positive taste as we race through the summary of all catagories.

The GP catagory saw Australian & new Honda rider Casey Stoner fly pass the checker flag to win & become the first GP classification leader for the new season. Honda has managed to "fine - tune" their machines in "lighting bolt" mode & it was a grand effort by second placed & current World Champion JORGE LORENZO to take his Yamaha bike into the silver position with some brilliant & outstanding driving as he was really pleased post-race. Spaniard & Honda rider DANI PEDROSA got in third after he felt some pain in his shouder as Lorenzo flew by him 3/4 of the way.

Marquez crash: courtesy of rtve

Not so good news for Spanish riders in the MOTO2 catagory with the race finishing in this order: 1st German rider Bradl; 2nd Iannone & 3rd Luthi. The bad news was the spectacular crash from last years Spanish 125cc World Champions Marc Marquez. I have always believed that riders jump catagories too soon in the careers & these things happen. A 125 cc bike has nothing to do with a Moto2 bike as with a GP bike. It takes a lot of adaptation to get under control the new & more powerful bikes. The best placed Spanish rider in this category was Julian Simon in 10th place.

The happy news for Spanish Sports was in the 125cc catagory with NICO TEROL winning ahead of Cortese & another Spaniard Gadea. Terol starts fantastically the season & looks great along with Gadea. The 125 cc has traditionally of late been a Spanish strong hold.

Next race: Spanish GP ( Jerez ) - 3rd of April

DAKAR RALLY 2011 | SPANISH RIDER MARC COMA WINS HIS 3RD TITLE

Great news for SPANISH SPORTS after Spanish motorcycle rider MARC COMA proclaimed his 3rd DAKAR RALLY title after finishing 5th in todays leg & thus creating an unreachable points gap in the General Classifications Motorcycle Table.

The Spanish rider will be officially given all the winning honours tomorrow when the race ends in the city of Buenos Aires (Argentina). From here, congratulations to Marc!

Another Spanish Sportsperson & motor-rider LAIA SANZ won the female catagory of the DAKAR RALLY 2011. No less important & spectacular feat for a first timer who has an enormous future ahead. Congratulations!

FORMULA 1: ALONSO 3ºRD IN SINGAPORE GP

Two time Spanish F1 World Champion FERNANDO ALONSO had
not reached a podium since Brasil 2008, & today he managed to
finish 3ºrd in the SINGAPORE GP.

Although Alonso started from 5th on the grid, his persistant & steady
driving saw how others made mistakes & were penalized; Rosberg &
Vettel, who gave the Spaniard the 3ºrd & final place.

The winner was Hamilton followed by Glock who was second,
& third for Alonso must have felt like glory. The Spaniard dedicated

his podium to banned ex-Renualt Director Briatore
