SPAIN SAYS GOODBYE WINNING 0 - 3 AUSTRALIA | WORLD CUP 2014

Last match for Spain in this World Cup in Brazil with a 0 - 3 victory over Group B opponents Australia. Both teams leave eliminated from the competition with Spain at least finding today its "lost Football" & winning back some lost pride, while Australia is a young side that is building up experience with the Asian Cup - which they host - coming as their next big objective in the near future.

Spanish National Football Team Coach Vicente Del Bosque made some changes & gave Reina, Juanfran, Albiol, Koke, Cazorla, Torres & David Villa a run from the start. It was a "special" moment today for David Villa his last game with the National Team. Another player who has announced his exit from the National Team, Xavi Hernandez, sat it out on the bench with muscle problems.

Andres Iniesta who was the "Best man on the ground" played his 100th International for Spain & was the architect of his teams goals. Luckily Iniesta will continue but there are question marks over the future of other players like Casillas & Xabi Alonso. Although my intuition suggests both will continue giving service at least up to the European Championship in France 2016.

It took Spain at least 15 mins to find its rhythm as Australia pressured in the midfield but slowly Jordi Alba with Villa came alive with Iniesta the director of the orchestra. The first goal came in the 36th min when David Villa knocked in a Juanfran pass, the second came in the 69th min from Torres from an Iniesta pass & the third came in the 82nd min from Mata. Good match & at last goals for Spain, but all too late as they are to catch a plane back home tonight.

Lastly, special mention to David Villa as written above leaves the Spain Football Team as the "Highest Historical Goalscorer" with 59 goals & with 97 International Caps. Great service from a great Football player. Same goes out to Xavi Hernandez who leaves as well & leaves a huge space to fill, without doubt Spains Best ever midfielder .

For Spain now its time to get home, disconnect & examine what went wrong to rebuild & think about France 2016. There are plenty of young Spanish Players at World class level waiting for their chance.

DAVID VILLA AGREES TO PLAY WITH NEW YORK CITY ?

Another name has entered the list of speculated players (Costa, Arda, Felipe Luis, Courtois...) that will leave Atletico de Madrid. Spanish International forward David Villa is said to have accepted an offer from American Football Club "New York City". The news comes out from Spanish radio & has been picked up by Spanish Sports daily "AS".

David Villa has 32 years of age & his season with Atletico de Madrid was relatively "quiet" on the goal front. Although Villa worked extremely hard for his team in 47 official games he only managed 15 goals. This figure is relatively low & could signal a tendency that with the years the level of elite Football may be a bit too much to maintain constantly. The news source says that David Villa has agreed to play in the MLS for the next three years.

As with most transfer news exploding onto the front pages at the moment they are speculations & rumour. In the case of Villa he is up for contract renewal & has a huge salary that Atletico de Madrid may not be able to sustain. The American & New York readers may well be correct to be excited in getting the opportunity to see a great Football scorer so close at home. Stay tuned!

SPANISH SELECTOR DEL BOSQUE MESSAGE TO ALVARO ARBELOA & DAVID VILLA

The list of 22 players had in yesterday by Selector Del Bosque that will make up the Spanish National Team squad for the upcoming Friendly with Italy made news by including Spanish-Brazilian & Atletico de Madrid forward Diego Costa, & for the players that the Spanish Team Selector left out of the list.

The list in itself was transcendent this time around, its the second last list before the World Cup for Brazil, & a clear warning to those left out to smarten up or find themselves with an early summer holiday season. Two names that have caught the attention are Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa & Atletico de Madrid forward David Villa, regular call up players of the Spanish Team that have been left out.

Arbeloa steps on Diego Costa

The Arbeloa case has an interpretation. According to local Football observers, Selector Del Bosque was not all impressed by the attitude of Alvaro Arbeloa in the last At.Madrid-Real Madrid match were the physical aspects overtook the main stage. Alvaro Arbeloa was involved in two incidents that have been much talked about & it was not for his Football. The first was a "dirty" elbow to Atletico midfielder Diego Ribas, & the second a "dirtier" behind the back ankle attack on Diego Costa as seen in the above picture. Unnecessary actions & improper of a Football professional were they may have cost Arbeloa his place in the Spanish Football National Team.

It is well known that Selector Del Bosque, ex Real Madrid Champion player & Coach with Ligas, Champions League, Euro Cups & World Cup titles, puts in the up most position the values of respect & fair play for the Sport & for his Footballers. The Spanish Coach did not like at all the "dirty plays" of some players of the semi-final Spanish Cup match with Arbeloa being one of them.  The other reason for leaving out Arbeloa is due to purely Football reasons, Arbeloa is no longer the undisputed right back at Real Madrid & his form has dropped.

The absence of Alvaro Arbeloa is clearly a message from Selector Del Bosque that he clean his act, attitude & Football wise if he wishes to participate in the upcoming World Cup with Spain.

The other case that has called the attention is the absence of David Villa. The Atletico de Madrid forward is not having a smooth year marked by injury & lack of goals. Said differently the Atletico de Madrid forward is not at his best playing level & it is hard to justify at this moment a place in the National side. Here too the message from Del Bosque is very clear, lift in form & goals or a place in the Spanish Team for Brazil will be hard to justify.

FC BARCELONA TRANSFERS DAVID VILLA TO ATLETICO DE MADRID

It was mentioned yesterday here as a possibility, this afternoon it has been confirmed. FC Barcelona will transfer its Spanish International forward David Villa to Atletico de Madrid. The agreement is for 3 seasons with a salary of 7M€ per year for the striker. The transfer figure is speculated to be around 5-5.5M€ ( 2M€ this season, 2M€ following & 1.5 if Villa goes the third season ) with FC Barcelona keeping the 50% of a future transfer if it were to occur.

This is a "bargain basement" deal for Atletico de Madrid which finds a World Class substitute for departed striker Falcao. David Villa had other more succulent offers from English Football but preferred to stay in Spain.

David Villa will play against Barça in the Spanish Super Cup in August & will also play Champions League Football with Atletico de Madrid. This way Villa can maintain the "pressure on" Spanish National Team Selector Del Bosque, as with more playing time & goals Villa wishes to secure his place in the Spanish World Cup squad for 2014.

ATLETICO DE MADRID RETAKES THE DAVID VILLA SIGNING OPTION

With the departure of striker Radamel Falcao to Monaco, Atletico de Madrid needs a replacement with goal scoring guarantees. Coach Diego Simeone wishes to make an improvement on last seasons Liga third placed squad & be highly competitive in this years Champions League. The Argentine Coach has already voiced his unhappiness with Atletico de Madrid Directives as he watches how rivals Real Madrid & FC Barcelona have already began incorporating new players,  & Atletico has as yet signed the players that he wishes. Amongst those are a midfielder who he puts as priority in Diego Ribas of Wolfsberg & a forward, a class Striker.

The commented candidates are:

• Alvaro Negredo ( Sevilla FC )
• Roberto Soldado ( Valencia CF )
• Demba Ba ( Chelsea FC)
• Edin Dzeko  (Manchester City )

The first - Alvaro Negredo - has been provisionally discarded as Sevilla FC wishes 25M€ to which Atletico can´t offer. The second - Roberto Soldado - has a contract release clause of 30M€ which is far out of reach. The last two - Ba & Dzeko - remain economical options to date.

However, the option of FC Barcelona & Spanish International David Villa is back in the realm of possibilities. Although English Club Tottenham Hotspurs is keen to sign Villa, the Barça forward wants to study the Atletico option. According to Spanish Sports daily "Mundo Deportivo", Atletico Directives meet with Villa last Thursday & FC Barcelona will discuss this further with Atletico de Madrid this week.

The obstacles are the high salary of David Villa which is around 11M€ ( Gross ) per season & the transfer figure from FC Barcelona which is around 15M€. This last, the transfer fee could be negotiated downward thus lowering the barriers somewhat for Atletico de Madrid.

One may think that with the selling of Falcao to Monaco for around 60-65M€ that this gives Atletico de Madrid enough money for big named players. The reality is that Atletico de Madrid has a huge debt with the Spanish Tax Office & must pay around 100M€ yearly which squeezes their resource & limits their area of action. This is why Champions League participation - & playing within constantly - is the prime objective of the Club as to help find an alternative source of income to pay its debts & be able to grow in the future.

There may be further news this week perhaps on whether Atletico de Madrid, FC Barcelona & David Villa can all find a suitable formula. Stay tuned!

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS LOOKS AT VALENCIA FORWARD SOLDADO (OR VILLA ) ?

English Club Tottenham Hotspurs is on the local Spanish Sports daily s for third reasons this morning:

• Tottenham apparently has Brazilian International midfielder Paulinho in "the bag", beating Real Madrid CF. However, it was never clear Real Madrid made an offer for Paulinho in the first place
• Gareth Bale gets very complicated for Real Madrid as the price tag of 80-100M€ is for "madmen". Plus apparently Tottenham does not wish to sell.
• The interest of Tottenham Hotspurs to sign Valencia CF & Spanish International Roberto Soldado hits hard locally in the press.

Roberto Soldado is as well on the agenda of Atletico de Madrid. However it is being reported that Tottenham Hotspurs has entered the picture & wishes to sign the forward for next season. The English Club values the player around 18M€ while Valencia CF puts the price around the 30M€ suggesting some serious negotiations ahead if Tottenham really wishes to sign Soldado.

Tottemham looks set to sell Adebayor to Turkish Club Besiktas for 6M€ & this will leave a vacant position upfront that the Club will need to fill. The explosion of the Roberto Soldado Tottenham interest in the press makes me think Roberto Soldado "smells" more of a "Plan B" , as the real target is FC Barcelona forward David Villa. Added to this it may also be that doubts may have set in within the English Club, Soldado is a more younger player than Villa.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TRANSFER NEWS | DAVID VILLA - CRISTIANO RONALDO

Some news - or speculation rumour - doing the rounds locally & overseas today in the transfer area concerning some important Spanish Football stars.

News out of Spanish radio "Cadena Ser" puts FC Barcelona & Spanish International David Villa very close to English Premier League Club Tottenham Hotspurs. It was thought that Arsenal FC was in the front running but in the last days Coach Villas-Boas has contacted the Spanish Soccer player & convinced him of the upcoming Tottenham project.

The operation could be imminent as commented & would also deprive Spanish Football Club Atletico de Madrid from their attempts of getting over Villa. Plus indirectly it could help out Real Madrid as the Villa arrival at Spurs could help the exit of Gareth Bale over to Madrid. Stay tuned!

News out of France - via L´Equipe - writes that Paris St. Germain is preparing an 100M€ signing offer to Real Madrid for star Cristiano Ronaldo, which includes a 18M€/ year salary for CR7, second only to Samuel Eto´o in World Football. This gives weight to the suspicion at the start of the season that the now famous "I am sad" comments from Ronaldo had something to do with a PSG offer that "confusaed" the star back then.

Cristiano Ronaldo has two more years of contract left with Real Madrid & the Spanish Football Club has the intention of sitting down with the player to extend their relationship, but PSG has put the measuring bar high & Real Madrid has to counter the offer in a significant manner. Part of the negotiating battle will be with "image rights" now 50% each ( Club & CR7) with Ronaldo wishing to recover all - 100% - while Real Madrid prefers to keep things as they are for now. Stay tuned!

FC BARCELONA | TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR - AT MADRID ENTER THE DAVID VILLA SIGNING RACE ?

It seems clearer as the days pass that the future of Spanish International & FC Barcelona forward David Villa is elsewhere next season. The player is not a regular starter with Coach Vilanova & the player wishes to be a more participative asset, if not at Barça, elsewhere.

There are European & local Clubs very interested in gaining the services of David Villa. One of those Clubs is English Premier giant Arsenal FC which was very close to shutting a deal with Villa last January. The English Premier League Club is still in the front running where countrymen Cazorla & Arteta are there to help in the adaptation process if needed.

According to the Barcelona based Spanish Sports newspaper "Sport" in today's edition, another English Club Tottenham Hotspurs has entered the picture along with Spanish Club Atletico de Madrid, both offering around 12M€, a bargain in my opinion . The latter secured their place in Champions League next season & this is a "pre-requisite" for a player of the calibre of Villa. However, Atletico de Madrid is also looking at Liverpool FC forward Luis Suarez which leaves you to wonder if their intentions are 100%.

The factor that will tip the balance for Villa will be his family. The player is keen to try English Football but his family is not so enthusiastic about needing to go overseas. Stay tuned!

ARSENAL FC TO MAKE OFFER FOR VICTOR VALDES ?

If it was any other English paper I would be more confident with the news piece. Seeing the it is "The Sun" one puts the post forward as informative but I would´nt beforehand place a bet on it. Or would I? The news that English Premier League Club Arsenal FC has a 11M€ offer ready to send over to FC Barcelona for their Spanish International goalie VICTOR VALDES is not a far-fetched idea. In fact, most European Clubs given the chance of signing the Barça goalkeeper would jump at it.

There is another FC Barcelona player sounding loud for Arsenal next season as well. Spanish International forward David Villa has a foot, leg & half body out of the Barcelona door. Football observers from Spain & England are placing the forward in London next season & Arsenal FC is the place. Arsenal made a serious attempt to get Villa last month in the Winter Transfer Market & Manager Wenger personally called Villa to express his wishes to get him over.

We may see both Valdes & Villa at Arsenal next season. Stay tuned.

ATLETICO DE MADRID THINKING ABOUT DAVID VILLA

DAVID VILLA looks closer than ever in leaving FC BARCELONA at the end of the season. There are too many rumours "in the air" that gives this idea weight. The 31 year old Spanish International is strongly linked to ARSENAL FC which made a failed attempt at the end of last month to get the player over to London.

However, ATLETICO DE MADRID has "sounded out" Villa. Atletico has nearly accepted the idea that their star forward FALCAO will leave at the end of the season. The Spanish Football Club needs to move now in order to secure themselves in the front running for a class replacement. David Villa is an option & staying in Spain to continue playing Football with a Club that has Champions League aspirations may attract Villa instead of the Premier League.

The other two names that Atletico de Madrid is managing are Liverpool forward LUIS SUAREZ & Manchester City DZEKO, but the Villa option is - believe it or not - cheaper than the two names mentioned as the transfer price of Villa maybe around 15-16M€. The Spanish Sports paper "AS" claims that Villa is open to the Atletico de Madrid idea & will discuss this with the Spanish Club at the end of the season.

ARSENAL FC WITH DAVID VILLA - PEPE REINA IN MIND

What happen to the ARSENAL FC attempts to sign FC BARCELONA forward DAVID VILLA ? The answer is simple, Barça did not wish to sell as commented by Arsene Wenger. However, David Villa did pressure Barcelona to study seriously the offer given by Arsenal.

The other factor in the operation is LIVERPOOL FC Spanish International goalkeeper PEPE REINA. David Villa & Pepe Reina are best friends with strong family ties. Arsenal was also negotiating with Liverpool this "Winter Market" to sign Reina & that also convinced David Villa that Arsenal could ( & should ) be his new destination.

Here to, Liverpool decided not to sell Reina & leave this operation until the end of the season. This, along with FC Barcelona leaving the "David Villa issue" till the end of the season,  could see Arsenal sign both Spanish Internationals. In fact, local press comment that Villa will return to pressure Barça in letting him go at the end of the season.

Arsenal could be more Spanish than ever with Reina, Monreal, Arteta, Cazorla & David Villa next season. Stay tuned!

ATLETICO DE MADRID THINKING ABOUT DAVID VILLA ?

This piece comes from Barcelona, from Sports daily "Mundo Deportivo". Although the English Club ARSENAL FC seems to be in the front running for the possible services of FC BARCELONA & Spanish International forward DAVID VILLA next season there is local competition.

According to the said media source, ATLETICO DE MADRID are thinking in Villa as the replacement for Falcao which looks like that he may well be leaving. The excellent relations between Barça & Atletico helps plus a 15M€ transfer figure being talked about in the "Football circuit".

However, this is pure speculation as the player will have a say & his plans may well be to play overseas, perhaps England.

CHELSEA FC TO ASK FC BARCELONA TO LOAN OUT VILLA ?

The English daily "The Sun" has published that CHELSEA FC Spanish Manager Rafael Benitez will ask FC BARCELONA to contemplate & allow Spanish International forward DAVID VILLA to change Clubs until the end of the season. The FC Barcelona player is not playing & Benitez believes he will give top value to Chelsea if given on-loan in the upcoming "Winter Transfer Window".

The interest by Chelsea FC is not new at all. The rumours intensify on a weekly basis with news coming from the UK & from specialized Football media sources. The current wishes from Chelsea is to get Villa on-loan until the end of this season, with ATLETICO DE MADRID Colombian forward FALCAO being the true objective.

FC Barcelona has already mentioned that Villa will not be transferred or sold. The Club is currently competing in all competitions: Liga, Spanish Cup & Champions League, & a player of his calibre is too good to let go in case other regular players may get injured.

Although David Villa may look forward to a change & Chelsea can imagine the possibility, at this stage it is just rumour & a very difficult wish to came true.

FC BARCELONA | LIVERPOOL FC THINKING DAVID VILLA

News out this morning from SPANISH SPORTS paper "AS" makes the comment that FC BARCELONA & Spanish International forward DAVID VILLA maybe thinking in the English Premier League for next season.

The Club in question is LIVERPOOL FC were his best friend Pepe Reina plays as goalkeeper. The English Club has been following the Barça forward for sometime & they are very aware of the uneasy situation Villa is experiencing at Barcelona spending more time on the bench than playing. This & the fact that the constant rumours of the possible arrival of Brazilian NEYMAR has made Villa think about moving on.

Liverpool could get the player next season for about 15- 20M€, although my initial sensations are that if all that is written is correct, Barcelona will try to get more money for David Villa. Plus I don´t doubt that Liverpool may find some competition from other European Clubs.

FC BARCELONA | VILLA THINKING OF MOVE - CHELSEA FC ALERT

It was reported that LIONEL MESSI once again had an on-field argument with his fellow team-mate DAVID VILLA in the FC BARCELONA mid-week Champions League match against Celtic Glasgow. It´s not the first time Messi gives Villa a "voice over" when the former fails to pass him the ball, the last time was a couple of weeks back in LA LIGA & picked up in its entirety by TV.

David Villa is not having a good time at Barça this season he is spending more time on the bench than playing. Others like Tello, Alexis & even Pedro have eclipsed the World Champion in playing minutes.

Villa at Celtic

Once again, truly or falsely, Messi again gets under the microscope as many media observers had commented for seasons that the Argentine is directly or indirectly responsible for the departure of Ronaldinho, Eto´o & Ibrahimovic, simply because he did not feel comfortable with them, whatever that means. Perhaps it is now a case that Messi does not feel "comfortable" with Villa, at least the last two on pitch incidences may give weight.

With feathers raffled at Camp Barça, English paper "Daily Star" report that CHELSEA FC smells blood & sees an opportunity to swoop on David Villa. Locally, "insiders" comment that Villa is already thinking of moving on.

FC BARCELONA | DAVID VILLA S.O.S

Very quite these days on the SPANISH FOOTBALL front, as the Liga returns with action this weekend after International friendly & qualifying games.

The "little" news to mention today comes out of Barcelona today, from FC BARCELONA & from DAVID VILLA, which lifts an eyebrow after his press conference today. The player was back at his Club after returning with the Spanish Football National Team & scoring a goal.

David Villa

The quote that has hit the media spaces is :

"In any other Team I would be by now playing”

A message to the Club? Perhaps, the context of the whole press conference however was correct, as it always is with Villa, & following the "politically correct line". But the above quote has  a differing interpretation for some close observers in the Football media.

Some say David Villa is not at all happy at FC Barcelona, primarily because he is not a starter ( especially now he has recovered from injury ) & plays "out" of his natural position. But other "bad tongues" say the relationship with Messi is not optimal.

Can one think the David Villa & Barça are to part? Can the Winter Transfer Market give us novelties? Or is this all just "dirty" rumour?

Stay tuned!

JUVENTUS TO MAKE AN OFFER FOR DAVID VILLA ?

Last Thursday there was a meeting at a Barcelona Hotel between "representatives" of Italian Club JUVENTUS & persons close to FC BARCELONA forward DAVID VILLA. According to Spanish paper "El Comercio", which has been picked up by "Sport", "Mundo Deportivo" & "Marca", the Italians wanted to know the Villa situation & his thoughts.

From this the Barcelona Sports papers speculate that nothing will come out of this, while "Marca" ( Madrid based ) speculate that Juventus will make FC Barcelona a formal offer this Monday in which Villa will be offered a 4 year contract at 8M€ salary per year.

Before everyone gets excited, especially the Italian readers, bear in mind that a meeting occurred but that is all, from here to speculate a real transfer opportunity is premature & at this moment with little possibilities. Plus, there is only 5 days in the "transfer window" left for manoeuvring. Juventus seems also to have two more names on their list of forwards in case some fall like Fernando Llorente ( At. BIlbao ) & Edin Dzecko ( Man City ), thus there is enough to chose.

David Villa

Said this, lets analyse the situation of David Villa at Barcelona. In a nutshell, it is not what David Villa thought of the day he signed for Barcelona. Firstly, the player is placed on the left wing, an area that is not his natural position. Secondly, he is not a regular starter, with Pedro, Alexis & even Tello competing with the Spanish International & this was not part of the signing talks way back.

Rumours have been sounding, & ever more with certain strength, that David Villa is not happy at all at Barcelona. Some insiders have commented that since 12 months back, Villa has told his representatives to consider other options. His 8 month long leg injury has caused that Villa feel the need to return the "love & support" to the Club, but the heart has little to do or play in professional Football.

This brings up another question or to highlight a clear trend. Ronaldinho, Eto´o, Ibrahimovic & David Villa, the first three were shown the door, & the last may wish to leave, what is the common denominator? LIONEL MESSI

More & more the rumours point to Messi as the reason why Barça has a apparent "curse" with the Nº 9 position. The Club has Messi as a priority & thus will sacrifice everything & anyone to keep the Argentine happy & playing the way he likes to play. The fact is, that FC Barcelona plays for Lionel Messi & players are sacrificed to play elsewhere on the field to allow Messi to do what he wishes on the field.

Other "bad tongued" commentators say that Messi does not wish to have shadows & has voiced this,  in the Ibrahimovic case,  & we all know how that ended up.

In conclusion, lets see how the Juventus - Villa news turns out first before getting excited. I doubt the transfer will happen now, what I do not discard is a "Winter Market" move. If Villa does not get playing time & keeps seeing himself as the "lesser" forward a move from Barça could be logical & needed. Here Juventus can have their chance,  or any other Club, which are many.

VIDEO | DAVID VILLA OPERATED & GIVES THANKS TO FANS

DAVID VILLA has 000s of fans around the World. I know that many admirers have been taken back by the serious injury of the FC Barcelona & Spanish International forward with his broken shine-bone. The player was yesterday operated on in Barcelona & Villa has made this video to thank all the well wishers & fans. Its in Spanish , but for our non-Spanish speakers, that message is basically thanks to all, the operation has been a success, that his full of spirit & will work to be back for the Champions League Final ( if Barça makes it) & the upcoming Euro 2012 Championship.

Independent medical professionals comment that his injury will take between 4 - 5 months, & even then he will need strengthening of muscle & bone. Lets not discard the optimism expressed by Villa, although his plans look almost ( repeat almost ) difficult - if not impossible - to reach. Meanwhile from here a cheer & speedy recovery message to David Villa.

AL SAAD 0 FC BARCELONA 4 | DAVID VILLA OUT 6 MONTHS

FC BARCELONA defeated AL_SAAD 0 - 4 in the semi final of the "FIFA World Clubs Championship" in Japan & will meet Bralizian Club SANTOS in the weekend final.

Barça was never really troubled the whole match & one gets the idea that their opponents, although professional & putting in a very good game, had the joy of playing with their Football Heroes.

Adriano

The goals came via ADRIANO with two ( 24th & 42 min ) , KEITA in the 64th min & MAXWELL in the 82nd min. The outstanding players were Iniesta ( fabulous as always) & young Thiago putting in an excellent match with passes that turned into goals.

David Villa moment of injury. broken shinebone

However the victory came at an important cost, as DAVID VILLA broke his "shinebone" in the 36th min & will be out of action between 5 - 6 months. This puts his participation with the Spanish National Football Team during the upcoming Euro 2012 almost impossible.

Cruel bad luck as Villa was main page this week with speculation about his future outside of Barcelona next season. Now all this murmur stops until the player can recover. Sad way to start Christmas & the New Year. From here we wish to man luck & a speedy recovery.
