FC BARCELONA | REMEMBERING ALCANTARA - MESSI BREAKS CLUBS GOAL RECORD

FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi keeps on breaking records. The Argentine passed the Historical Goalscoring Club Record yesterday in his Liga Round 28 match against Osasuna scoring a "Hat-Trick" & surpassing the 369 goals previous held by Paulino Alcantara

FC Barcelona

Today Spanish Sports daily based in Barcelona "Sport" has published a good info-graph showing & comparing both players. While we all expect Messi to take the FC Barcelona goalscoring record to new heights, we do see that Paulino Alcantara scored his 369 goals with fewer games than Lionel Messi. This indicates that Alcantara was a fine player & must have been a "scoring machine" during the 10 years ( 1917 - 1927 ) he represented Barça.

Finally another note, Alcantara scored 38 "Hat-Tricks". While Lionel Messi takes all the front covers it is also well that a Barça Football Legend like Paulino Alcantara from nearly 100 years ago comes back & reminds us that he existed & was up there on the same "level" as today's Lionel Messi.

CRISTIANO RONALDO GETS EUROPEAN FOOTBALL RECORDS & GIVES THEM TO REAL MADRID

There is no doubt that Portuguese International & Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is perhaps at his best level of his entire career in Football. The player is an authentic goal scoring machine both in Spanish Liga & in European competition. Last nights exhibition in Champions League against Juventus not only gave Ronaldo a goal but in doing so gave the player two individual records in European Football & two records for his team Real Madrid.

Spanish Football

Cristiano Ronaldo is now the player who has scored more goals in the Champions League in the same calendar year. With 14 goals in 2013 he has already surpassed the 13 goals record previously held by Leo Messi. Furthermore, Ronaldo equals the record by Italian Inzaghi as the top scorer after four Group games of Champions League with 8 goals. Lastly Cristiano Ronaldo has equalled Shevchenko with 59 goals in Champions League. Only Spaniard Raul, Messi & Van Nistelrooy remain ahead.

On the global level, the goal by Cristiano Ronaldo last night against Juventus gave Real two collective records. Real Madrid become the first Club in the History of European competitions to score in 20 straight games away from home. Plus Real Madrid also equals the Club record that FC Barcelona holds between 2009 and 2012 for scoring in 29 straight games.

No doubt Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to add numbers in coming years & is putting forward his candidacy for the 2013 FIFA Golden Ball Award. All he needs to do is to continue with his extraordinary form.

LIONEL MESSI | SPANISH SOCCER GOALS RECORD - "LA VUELTA PERFECTA"

FC Barcelona Argentine ace Lionel Messi keeps breaking records. Yesterday with his 73rd min goal against Celta in Liga, the 4 time FIFA Golden Ball winner became the first player in Spanish Football - Soccer history to score a goal against all the Clubs in the First Division. That is, Messi has scored a goal in 19 straight Liga games.

SOCCER SPAIN 2013

Barcelona based Sports paper "Sport" has made this picture graph ( by Marc Creus ). It counts with a beginning, 19 rounds ago with Celta, & finishes with Cetla again yesterday. As you can see, Messi has scored against every Club in the Spanish League.

Here is a video of all the goals. Its been termed "la vuelta perfecta" ( the perfect cycle). Enjoy.

LIONEL MESSI | ANOTHER WORLD FOOTBALL RECORD

Last night FC Barcelona Argentine star Lionel Messi was called into action in the second half of the teams match against Deportivo A Coruña of “Liga” to put some spark into the Barça game. Leading 1 – 0 with an earlier goal from team-mate Alexis, Barcelona was struggling to “knock-out” Deportivo who was putting up a admirable fight.

Lionel Messi had to once again “rescue” his side late in the match with a superbly executed chip over the Depor goalie to score in the 87th min & thus sentence the match in Barça´s favour.

Soccer Spain

In doing so, Messi gained another  “World Football Record”. The first player in Football History to score a goal in 17 consecutive matches in any First Division ( any World Football First Division ). The statistic is backed by the “Rec Sport Soccer Statistic Foundation” (RSSSF).

The previous “World Record” holder was Teodor Peterek of the “Ruch Chorzow” Club, held since the 1937 – 1938 season.

Here is another possible feat that would be incredible. If Lionel Messi can score in the next two scheduled Liga matches against Rayo Vallecano & Celta de Vigo, the Argentine would have scored a goal against every Club now in the Spanish Football League (First Division), consecutively!

CARLOS ARANDA is a Spanish Football Professional that has just achieved a Historical Spanish Football record: the first player to have played in 8 different Clubs in the Spanish First Division.

FC BARCELONA | LIONEL MESSI EQUALS KUBALA WITH 194 GOALS

Hi, I may have "breezed throught" in yesterdays post below on FC BARCELONA & their 0 - 5 victory , although mentioned, of an important historical milestone achieved in the game against BATE BORISOV.  Argentine midfield star LIONEL MESSI made Barça History again.

Kubala - Messi

Yesterday Messi scored two goals & thus took his all-time tally with Barça to 194. This may sound normal if it wasn´t that the player equalled the mark & the second place historical goal tally position held by legend KUBALA.Again this may not impress if it wasn´t that Messi has only 24 years of age.

The historical all-time top goal-scorer is CESAR RODRIGUEZ, another Barça legend of the 40s & 50s of last Century who notched up 235 goals. Do you have any doubt that Messi will soon surpass this mark? I don´t.

The 24 year old Messi keeps on breaking records, the sky only his limit.

FERNANDO TORRES BECOMES 4TH HIGHEST ALL TIME SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM GOAL SCORER

Spanish Football International & Premier League Club Chelsea forward FERNANDO TORRES has had a terrible 2010 – 2011 season. The run of injuries & the mega pressure after becoming the highest transfer in English Football from Liverpool to Chelsea FC put an enormous weight that has lead to a serious goal drought (unexplained), & from it some very harsh criticisms. The lack of goals turns into a “vicious cycle” as no goals leads to psychological blockage & personal doubts that in turn lead to no goals, not to mention the lack of any luck accompanying in your play.

With all this excess baggage Fernando Torres managed to break his goal scoring drought scoring the 4th goal in the USA vs SPAIN (0 – 4 result) International Friendly & in doing so, become the 4th “all-time historical” goal-scorer with for the Spanish National Football Team. Fernando Torres equals Fernando Morientes with 27 goals & is only just two goals behind 3rd placed Fernado Hierro with 29 goals, a mark Torres will surely surpass in the future.

It was great to see Torres score yesterday as the players face & smile highlighted the release of accumulated tension after returning on the International Football goal sheet after is last goal scored back in September 2010. This should give the player confidence, clear grey doubts & set the player back on course for next season were I am sure we will see plenty of goals by Torres for Chelsea FC & more for the National Football Team.

Spanish Football maximum all-time historical goalscoring table:

1. Villa 46
2. Raúl 44
3. Hierro 29
4. Morientes 27
4. Fernando Torres 27

CRISTIANO RONALDO - LIONEL MESSI | WORLD FOOTBALL YING -YANG

History has a long & steady list of personalities who go down as the “best in their profession” that have battled it out with someone else that has driven both to their limits in order to reach their top level. It’s a type of “ying-yang” situation were one person has no meaning without the existence & interaction of the other.

It now comes to my mind some names that highlight this idea & observation:

Boxing: Mohammed Ali – Joe Frazier
Sugar Ray – Marvellous Marvin Hagler
Basketball: Jordan – Magic Johnson
Motorbike: Valentino Rossi – Jorge Lorenzo
Tennis: Roger Federer – Rafael Nadal
McEnroe - Ivan Lendl
Athletics: Ben Johnson – Carl Lewis

These are just a few “top of my head” examples from ,000s of names from all walks of life in the areas of politics, business, society & sports throughout history.

World Football – Soccer currently has its own “ying-yang” example, Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi. Both are competing to be “The Best in The World” & are indirectly assisting each other to bring out the best of themselves, & their intense & fierce rivalry is extracting qualities beyond their own talents that take each further & further beyond the boundaries of Football.

cristiano ronaldo 2011
Cristiano Ronaldo 2011

Spanish Sports daily paper “AS” gives an interesting article on this angle & highlights how both Cristiano Roanldo & Lionel Messi have shared the Football Title honours this season. Cristiano Ronaldo wins in the individual awards area while Messi wins with the collective. The end results however, is closer than one thinks.

Here is a run down on some important numbers.

Each has scored 53 goals this season in all competitions. This is simply superhuman stuff, it is absolutely incredible as both are “light years” from the rest.
  • European Golden Boot (Shoe) season 2010-2011 …40 goals
  • Spanish League Top Goalscorer – “El Pichichi” season 2010-2011 …40 goals
This sets an “All Time Historical Record” in Spanish Football. Simply amazing
  • Spanish Cup Title
lionel messi 2011
Lionel Messi 2011

Lionel Messi takes

• Spanish Football League Title 2010 - 2011
• UEFA Champions League Title 2010 - 2011
• Champions League maximum goal scorer season 2010-2011…12 goals

Both Ronaldo & Messi share the season scoring goal average ( all competitions) : a goal every 86 minutes.

In summary, a technical draw between Ronaldo & Messi as highlighted by the Spanish Sports paper. The other observation is that both "cannot live" (sporting wise) without each other & their merits may sub-consciously be directly influenced & effected by their fierce rivalry to out do the other. Lastly, the winners are you & me, plus all the Football lovers & fans around the World. We are all in a privileged moment of Football History that allows us to witness & enjoy two enormous & supernatural Football players. May that period be long, be competitive & stay healthy.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | CRISTIANO RONALDO | LIGA EL PICHICHI - EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT - HISTORICAL GOAL HOLDER | 2010 - 2011

REAL MADRID forward CRISTIANO RONALDO has finished the 2010 - 2011 season with a staggering total of 40 official UEFA approved goals. This figure gives the player the following individual titles this season:
  • All Time & Historical Spanish Football Top Goal scorer in a season. Cristiano Ronaldo takes the title off Telmo Zarra (At Bilbao 1950-51) & Hugo Snachez (1989-90) with 38 goals.
  • Spanish Football League - LA LIGAseason 2010 - 2011 Top Goal scorer - "El Pichichi"

* Spanish Sports paper "Marca" - which gives out the "El Pichichi" Award - has given Ronaldo 41 goals. UEFA however only takes into account the referee post - match report, whom gave the "controversial" goal to team-mate Pepe after the latter deflected the ball for a  goal from a Ronaldo free-kick ( vs Real Sociedad 2010).

We this explaination & the official UEFA figures, here is the final standings for the EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT (Shoe) AWARD season 2010 - 2011

1 C. Ronaldo Real Madrid SP 40goals     80.0points
2 L. Messi FC Barcelona SP      31            62.0
3 A. Di Natale Udinese ITA      28             56.0
4 M. Gomez Bayern München GER 28       56.0
5 E. Cavani SSC Napoli ITA     26             52.0

Here is an interesting statistic that highlights the incredible goal scoring feat this season by Cristiano Ronaldo. Relegated to 2º Division LIGA Club DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA scored all season 31 goals, while only Ronaldo scored - by himself - 40 goals...amazing.

FC BARCELONA 2011 | VICTOR VALDES REACHES 400 GAMES

Barcelona Spanish Sports based paper "Sport" informs us that today FC BARCELONA goalkeeper VICTOR VALDES will notch up his 400 game for the Club. A controversial figure with a "love - hate" relationship with Football fans, there is however little doubt about his quality & outstanding goalkeeping skills. His 3 "Zamoras" ( least goaled keeper in the Spanish Football League ) gives proof of this aspect.

FC Barcelona
Victor Valdes FC Barcelona

Sport has come up with the above "infograph" for the 29 year old which highlights his already impressive career titles. The language is in Spanish but one can very easily figure out all the informtion with translation.

From here we congratulate Valdes for his grand milestone & I am sure he will continue adding onto games & titles in the coming years.

RAUL | KING OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GOAL

You don´t have to be physically exercising your profession in Spain to get a post on Spanish Football Sports. Even less are the prerequisites if you happen to be a Spanish Football living legend like RAUL GONZALEZ BLANCO. The age old saying of "never keep a good man down" has never been so relevant as when applied to Raul & his new found "Football life" in German Football. After leaving his long time Club REAL MADRID virtually under the "has been" cloud, the player has rejuvenated at SCHALKE 04 helping the Club break records in Europe with one foot in the semi-finals of Champions League & Raul adding to his Champions League goalscoring record.

Soccer
Raul - Schalke 04

Schalke 04 won 2 - 5 yesterday reigning Champions League title holders  Inter Milan in the 1ºst leg of the Quarter-Final, with a goal from Raul included expanding his record numbers in Champions League. Here are some figures:

  • 139 games played in European Cup (Champions League). Just one game from equalling all time record holder Paolo Maldini, a feat assured if he runs on the field for Schalke 04 in the 2º leg return match
  • 70 goals scored in the European competition - Champions League. Current all time record holder
The man keeps going, playing & scoring...

A just think, he never won a the Golden Ball, with the closet being the year Michael Owen won just ahead of the Spaniard.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM | IKER CASILLAS MOST CAPPED PLAYER IN ALL CATEGORIES

Just some trivia for Spanish Football fans & followers around the World.

Spanish National Football Team Captain & goalkeeper, apart from Real Madrid player, IKER CASILLAS became last night the highest "capped" player is the history ( in all categories) of the Spanish National Team.

Spanish Soccer
Spanish goalkeeper IKER CASLLAS

Iker Casillas overtakes another goalkeeper & Spanish legend ANDONI ZUBIZARRETA & takes his tally to 158 International Caps, of which 116 are with the A Team. However there is a slight "trick" in the numbers in case a debate arises at the local pub. Andoni Zubizarreta has 157 International Caps, BUT 126 are with the A Team, that is 10 more than Casillas.

Iker Casillas will break Zubizarreta numbers with the "A-Team" in the short future as with only 29 years of age he has plenty of more years defending the Spanish goal & may well smash the figure & create a new ceiling that will stand for decades & decades.

FC BARCELONA BREAKS SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE RECORD WITH 16 STRAIGHT WINS

Bit of trivia for global Barça fans & Football fans alike.

The FC BARCELONA 3 - 0 victory over Atletico de Madrid in Round 22 of the Spanish League yesterday gave this particular Barça side another SPANISH FOOTBALL record.

Spanish Football FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona 2010 - 2011

Barça broke the record previously held by Real Madrid of 15 consecutive victories in the Spanish League. Real Madrid under its star Di Stefano during the 1960 - 61 season held that priviledge until last night when FC Barcelona with its 2010 - 2011 line -up overtook Real Madrid with their now 16 straight wins. I have no doubts that this Barça will continue breaking other long standing records.

FERNANDO TORRES 58M€ TRANSFER TO CHELSEA FC A RECORD FOR A SPANISH PLAYER - RECORD BETWEEN ENGLISH CLUBS

According to the LIVERPOOL FC Web news the English Club has agreed to the CHELSEA FC transfer price & offer of 58M€ for Spanish International Football player FERNANDO TORRES. This makes Fernando Torres the highest ever transfered player in monetary terms in the history for a Spanish born Football player & between two English Clubs. Overall, Fernando Torres is now the 6th highest ever transfer in Football History:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd - Real Madrid) = 94M€
2. Zinedine Zidane (Juventus - Real Madrid ) = 73M€
3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic ( Inter M - FC Barcelona ) = 66M€
4. Kaka (AC Milan - Real Madrid) = 65M€
5. Luis Figo (FC Barcelona - Real Madrid) = 60M€
6. Fernando Torres (Liverpool - Chelsea ) = 58 M€

Fernando Torres is currently undergoing the obligatory medical exams which he should pass & receive the OK before signing with "the Blues" in coming hours.

Liverpool has used 40M€ from their soon to recieve 58M€ from Chelsea FC to sign Newcastle forward Andrew Carroll & thus join their other new signing Luis Suarez to form their "new look" future attacking line-up.

The Liverpool fans have not taken too well the news of the Fernando Torres transfer & have gone out to the streets to burn the Number Nine shirt of the player. An act that is more emotional than anything else because Torres was a real idiol for many Liverpool FC fans & for the young lads. The Spaniard scored 72 goals during his 150 matches with "the Reds" & one would expect that when the emotions subside that some "common sense" will prevail. The replacements for Torres - Suarez & Carroll - are top class.

Fernando Torres
Liverpool fans burn Torres shirts

Some may ask if Torres is worth 58M€? Was Cristiano Ronaldo worth 94M€? Think about the external marketing - merchandising - TV rights...etc. Fernando Torres is a "semi-God" for fans in China, Japan, Indonesia, Sth Korea, Thailand, USA, Australia.... big markets to open up for Chelsea FC. I think they will get back their investment in a few years.

To finish off, no doubt more news & details of the Fernando Torres operation will be coming out in the next hours from all sorts of web sources that will keep you updated if you desire to learn more about the move.

CRISTIANO RONALDO ON RECORD BREAKING NUMBERS COURSE AT REAL MADRID

REAL MADRID player CRISTIANO RONALDO will play his 50th game with the Club in the Spanish League tonight against Osasuna. Apart from the congratulations the Portuguese is racing onwards towards record breaking numbers. Cristiano Ronaldo has 49 goals from 49 games ( some sources put 48 goals because a goal that hit Pepe on the back is doubtful) that calculates into a 100% average that not even legends like Di Stefano, Puskas, Pahiño, Hugo Sanchez, Ronaldo, nor Van Nistelrooy have managed with 50 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo with Real Madrid : Ap

The player is currently the leading goal scorer of the Spanish League with 22 goals & with just 21 Rounds of La Liga being celebrated. His objective is to break the Spanish Football goal scoring Record of 38 goals in one season currently held by Spanish Soccer legend Zarra & ex Real Madrid number nine Hugo Sanchez.

If we were to include ALL COMPETITIONS ( Champions, Spanish Cup...), Cristiano Ronaldo has played 66 games & scored 66 goals, that is , an incredible percentage of 100!.

Will he score tonight against Osasuna? The statistics favour the player.

REAL MADRID 2009 / 2010 TEAM: BREAKING GOAL SCORING STATISTICS

This seasons REAL MADRID team is a "goal scoring machine", a term that in Football jargon best describes their goal scoring rate. Currently the highest scoring team of all the European Teams & of "La Liga" sides, this seasons Madrid squad is on course to break the magical 1985 side in goal scoring numbers. Here is a VIDEO that explains nicely the statistics:

SPANISH FOOTBALL: CONGRATULATIONS IKER CASILLAS - 100 INTERNATIONAL CAPS

The Real Madrid & Spanish International Goalkeeper IKER CASILLAS
reaches a milestone tomorrow when he lines-up to play the Friendly
International against Argentina: his 100th International Cap.

(Iker Casillas debut year 2000)

The 28 year old Spanish National Team Captain will only have ahead
of him Real Madrid team-mate Raúl (102 Caps) & ex-Goalkeeper
Andoni Zubizarreta (126 Caps), both of which with certainty Casillas
we soon pass.

Iker Casillas debuted with 19 years of age when the then National
Team Coach José Antonio Camacho decided to put him onto the field
the 3rd of June of 2000 in a Friendly game against Sweden at
Gutenberg. Since then he hasn’t looked back with the biggest highlight
to date in his International career being lifting up the European Nations
Cup for Spain in 2008.

From SFS, congratulations Iker Casillas, I wish you many, many more
triumphs & Spanish Team titles.

MILESTONES & POSSIBLE RECORDS TONIGHT FOR SPAIN AGAINST TURKEY

Milestone for the goalkeeper many say is the “Best Goalkeeper in the World”
at this moment, REAL MADRID 27 year old & Spanish International Team
Captain
IKER CASILLAS. Tonight he will play his 90th International for
Spain against Turkey & overtakes Fernando Hierro (ex-Real Madrid Capitan
& defender) who has 89, now ahead of Casillas is only Raul & another
goalie
Zubizarreta.

Milestone tonight for DAVID VILLA as well who is about to overtake the 26
goals by another Spanish great, Emilio Butregeño if he gets onto the score
sheet against Turkey. From here Villa can set his sights on reaching Fernando
Morientes (27), Fernando Hierro (29) & if he has his boots on fire, Raul (44)
who is the historical top goal scorer for Spain at this moment.

But it does not stop here, Spain is unbeaten in 29 games & if it can avoid losing
its next two games against Turkey (tonight & next Wednesday) it will equal the
31 games of ex-Coach Javier Clemente. Lastly, Spain has maintained the Nº1
FIFA ranking for the last 9 months & if things go as they have up it now, there
maybe 10th month.
