LIONEL MESSI | ANOTHER WORLD FOOTBALL RECORD

Last night FC Barcelona Argentine star Lionel Messi was called into action in the second half of the teams match against Deportivo A Coruña of “Liga” to put some spark into the Barça game. Leading 1 – 0 with an earlier goal from team-mate Alexis, Barcelona was struggling to “knock-out” Deportivo who was putting up a admirable fight.

Lionel Messi had to once again “rescue” his side late in the match with a superbly executed chip over the Depor goalie to score in the 87th min & thus sentence the match in Barça´s favour.

In doing so, Messi gained another  “World Football Record”. The first player in Football History to score a goal in 17 consecutive matches in any First Division ( any World Football First Division ). The statistic is backed by the “Rec Sport Soccer Statistic Foundation” (RSSSF).

The previous “World Record” holder was Teodor Peterek of the “Ruch Chorzow” Club, held since the 1937 – 1938 season.

Here is another possible feat that would be incredible. If Lionel Messi can score in the next two scheduled Liga matches against Rayo Vallecano & Celta de Vigo, the Argentine would have scored a goal against every Club now in the Spanish Football League (First Division), consecutively!
