REAL MADRD | THE DAVID DE GEA TRANSFER MIX-UP

The Spanish (& World) Football media are still baffled & some laughing at the David De Gea - Keylar Navas transfer mix up or "fu*k ups". The reality is that today with the "Transfer Market" shut, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is still a United player because Real Madrid failed to send the "transfer documents" to the Spanish Liga HQ (LFP) before the midnight deadline. 

Here begins the song & dance between all the parts:

• The LFP claims the documents arrived at 00.28 (28 minutes late),
• Real Madrid claims Manchester United sent the documents just before the 00.00 deadline (23.59!!!!) ,
• Thus observers comment that the delay was because Manchester United sent the documents to Real Madrid so close to the deadline time, not giving Real Madrid lawyers enough time to go over things (clauses).

Real Madrid will now present their case to FIFA claiming that they "arrived" in time. Thus we all,  & De Gea, will have to wait the outcome. But it will be a difficult case to win & it looks as if De Gea will not play in Real Madrid this season.

The real tragedy is how the Spanish Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been played for months, mainly by his Coach Van Gaal. All this would have been avoided had Van Gaal facilitated the exit of De Gea earlier, instead of playing mind games & distorting realities within his fan base. The Manchester United Coach will now have to explain to Manchester United Club owners & shareholders how the lost 30,000,000 € in transfer fee income, as De Gea will become a free agent as of the 1st of January 2016. That is, David De Gea will be able to go to Real Madrid free next season.
Lastly, Real Madrid do not get off free from criticism as they too have played & messed around with Keylor Navas.

A poor & tragic example of how two Clubs - Manchester United & Real Madrid - which claim to be the biggest in World Football can express complete incompetence & in the process sink emotionally a Football player. Which adds to what is obvious to us observers, Football players are "meat" in the Football meat market.

We will now see how Manchester United Coach Van Gaal reacts after losing 30M€ & if he takes his embarrassment out on De Gea. Plus if De Gea can lift emotionally & take this punch well to perform again with United as the professional that he is & let run this season out.

REAL MADRID SHUTS DE GEA - NAVAS TO MANCHESTER UNITED

With only hours available before the "Transfer Market" shuts at midnight, Spanish Football Club Real Madrid is close to shutting a transfer deal with Manchester United for their Spanish International goalkeeper David De Gea. 

Latest from local media is that a deal has been struck between Clubs with some details still to be tied. The transfer price is speculated to be around 30M€, while current Real Madrid goalie Keylor Navas enters the operation (valued at around 12-15€) to substitute De Gea at Manchester United.

The initial problem was that Keylor Navas did not wish to move & go to United. However, the English Club has offered to double his salary (to around 5-6M€) & basically assure him a starting place on the team. This has apparently soften up Navas & his position to finally accept the change of Clubs. Navas knows that there is no room for him & De Gea competing for the one goalkeeper position, & that the arrival of De Gea would lead him to spend bench time, something Navas wishes to avoid at all costs.

From a personal view, the best option would have been to wait a further year to have De Gea arrive to Real Madrid free of transfer fee, however Real Madrid gave De Gea their word for this season & the Club wishes to keep it. The problem is De Gea comes terribly below form & will need time to adapt, added with the huge pressure on the young mans shoulders to live up to the expectations. Keylor Navas has left a good impression at the Club & with fans & his shoes will be hard to fill initially.

It is expected an official Clubs announcement in coming hours. Better to read that it is all official as anything can still happen. Stay tuned!

Latest : As warned above the De Gea - Navas transfer made an unexpected turn late tonight. Due to the late arrival of the transfer documentation of both Clubs at the Spanish Liga Headquarters, the De Gea operation (for now... barring UEFA-FIFA intervention) WILL NOT GO THROUGH. Said differently, the needed documentation arrived pass the 00.00 deadline thus keeping DE GEA at Manchester United & Keylor Navas at Real Madrid. Comical or tragic there has been a mix-up, or not, with the whole operation.

Therefore, De Gea - if nothing changes - will stay one more season at Manchester United & arrive FREE next season to Real Madrid. Thanks to Van Gaal Manchester United has lost out on 30M€ which will possibly make shareholders at the Club somewhat angry. Manchester United claim they sent documentation to Madrid before the 00.00 deadline & that Real Madrid failed to place papers at Liga HQ before 00.00

REAL MADRID - DE GEA | MUSICAL CHAIRS

Manchester United Manager Van Gaal made the comment: De Gea is Spanish, a Spanish International, his Spanish parents have to fly out from Spain nearly every week, his girlfriend is Spanish & Real Madrid is a huge Spanish Football Club. The goalkeeper is very keen to return to Spain & Real Madrid has made him an offer. 

David De Gea has on his table a contract renewal proposal from Manchester Utd that is more, much more than his current contract, which he is not signing as yet. Along side is an alternative proposal from Real Madrid said to be around 5M€ per season, which is way below the United offer, but De Gea values returning "home" & a chance of a lifetime offer.

Latest news is that Real Madrid has made a 20 M€ offer to Manchester United, which is obviously ridiculous. This figure will slowly go up as United is perhaps thinking more about a 40 M€ number in order to OK any transfer.

However, Spanish media discloses that the representatives of David De Gea has informed Real Madrid that before negotiations go any further, that the Spanish Football Club solve its goalkeeping problem: Iker Casillas.

De Gea does not want to arrive at a Club where there is a ongoing problem with current goalkeepers Iker Casillas & Keylor Navas. Said in other words, one of the two will have to go, with Casillas the more likely candidate. In fact, local media insiders have commented that Real Madrid will sit down with Iker Casillas in coming days to study "alternatives" & a "clean exit". The Spanish goalkeeper still has contract with Real Madrid & desires to be fully compensated financially if he is to leave prematurely. This is an issue as the "good-bye" payment is around 30M€, while the player also asks to leave without a transfer fee to make him more "attractive" to interested Clubs. 

While all this is in the air, De Gea will hold out at Manchester United because he too has a year more in his current contract. Iker Casillas exit seems to be the key.

ENGLISH PREMIER BEST 11 PFA AWARDS | 2 SPANIARDS ON LIST

The "Professional Footballers Association" (PFA) of the English Premier League announced their “Best XI Team” for season 2014 – 2015. Congratulations to the two Spanish International players who have be named & included: David De Gea (Manchester United) & Diego Costa (Chelsea FC). See the full list of players in the diagram below:

It is a great honour for them both, especially Costa in his first season in English Football, & indirectly for Spanish Football.

The rumours mount that Manchester United goalie De Gea could move to Real Madrid next season. Manchester United has reportedly offered the Spanish goalie to renew his contract with a huge 14M€ + deal that has not been taken up as yet. This is fuelling all sorts of speculation.

DAVID DE GEA THE CHOSEN ONE BY REAL MADRID

It is fairly unanimous, current Manchester United Spanish International goalkeeper David De Gea is destined to be the substitute of Iker Casillas at Real Madrid & the Spanish National Team. The speculation is constant & if the river sounds...

The representative of David De Gea is none other than Portuguese Jorge Mendes, which has an ace up his sleeve. His player ends contract in 2016, thus if De Gea does not renew with United he can leave free in 2016 to the Club that he desires. Obviously this goes against the interest of his current Club which would be wise to get the money, big money. 

Manchester United has offered David De Gea a new extended contract with a nice pay rise. However, De Gea, through Mendes, has yet to agree & this turns the red lights on at "Old Trafford". The Jorge Mendes PR Machine is already running "exaggerating" a bad relationship between his client & his Coach Van Gaal. Here is a clear "pressure lever" in action which is a distortion to the reality, but all is fair in love & war.

Real Madrid wants De Gea, he is the chosen one. Current goalie at Real Madrid Iker Casillas has his days counted, it is speculated that he will leave at the end of his season, or at worst the end of the next. And David De Gea will be waiting to arrive at the end of this season or the next.

BEST GOALKEEPERS FOR 2014

UK paper "Daily Mail" has published their list of "The Best Goalkeepers for 2014". Bayern Munich Neuer tops the list, but Spanish International & Manchester United goalie David De Gea flys the Spanish flag high in the Nº 2 spot. Iker Casillas is ranked 7th while the other Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas is Nº 10. 

A sightly "Premier League biased" ranking, with Joe Hart of Man City perhaps over-ranked.

DE GEA - MATA INCLUDED IN THE ENGLISH PREMIER IDEAL 11

The "PFA" - Professional Football Association - of the English Premier League has voted their "Ideal 11" for season 2012- 2013. The distinction is great in that the voting comes from your peers in the "Best 11 of the English Premier League". 

The player most valued by his peers is Gareth Bale of Tottenham Hotspurs. This player as we all know is a Real Madrid CF target for next season. 

The good & proud news for Spanish Soccer - Football is the inclusion of two Spanish Football Players & Internationals doing their jobs in the English Premier League: David De Gea & Juan Mata.

Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea was voted by his peers as the "Best Goalkeeper" for season 2012-2013. Excellent distinction for a young player who started his career at Manchester United in a nervous & criticised fashion. The adaptation process was difficult for young De Gea who had to adapt his game & gain some muscle for English Football. The player has now overcome criticisms & gained the confidence of his Coach Ferguson to be a regular in the team. 

Second Spaniard is Juan Mata for Chelsea FC. His natural talent has never been questioned. The player just keeps evolving & getting better season after season to become a vital asset for his team. From a local perspective I believe Spanish Football Team Coach Del Bosque should take note & find a regular place on the Spanish Team for Mata.

Congratulations to both for putting & fly the Spanish Soccer flag in English Football.

ATLETICO DE MADRID | DE GEA TO RETURN ?

ATLETICO DE MADRID are very happy with their current Goalkeeper Courtois. The player has settled in perfectly with the Spanish Club, City & Culture & he is performing magnificently, so much so, that Courtois is a favourite amongst Atletico fans.

However, there is a slight problem, Courtois is a CHELSEA FC player currently on loan to Atletico de Madrid & his brilliant form is making the English Club think that it is time to recall the youngster to prepare him to take over the mantle of Petr Chec.

With this possible scenario in the air, News coming out of England is that MANCHESTER UNITED Spanish goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA may comeback to Atletico de Madrid as a loan. Here we have the opposite case, young De Gea has put in good performances with some bad ones, his inconsistency has lead Manchester to believe that perhaps its better that De Gea continue evolving elsewhere, at least in an environment familiar & loved. It is written that Manchester United has already contacted with Stoke City goalie Begoic.

Atletico de Madrid has another option up their sleeve, OSASUNA goalie ANDRES FERNANDEZ , an option currently being also studied.

Back to De Gea. While it seems he is more out than in at United, FC BARCELONA are looking for a keeper & the name of De Gea is sounding.

VALDES TO MANCHESTER UNITED - DE GEA TO BARCELONA ?

How is this for an idea? FC BARCELONA goalkeeper VICTOR VALDES goes to MANCHESTER UNITED & DAVID DE GEA goes over to FC BARCELONA. It is being talked about & even published in the local Sports press as an option.

English papers "Times" & "Daily Telegraph" speak about how Manchester United Manager Ferguson is not satisfied with his Clubs goalkeeping area, & less with young Spanish International David De Gea. With Barça player Valdes saying no to his contract renovation & that he wished new horizons, Ferguson sees this as the perfect opportunity to convince someone like Valdes to join Manchester. The option may well be a  straight swap.

REAL MADRID - DE GEA PLANNING A MOVE?

Spanish International U-21 & MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA is going through a rough patch at his English Club. This & the fact that De Gea has just signed to "Super Manager" Jorge Mendes ( Ronaldo, Falcao, Pepe, Marcelo, Mourinho etc & etc ) has opened up a "can of rumours"

There is a close relationship between Manager Jorge Mendes & REAL MADRID for obvious reasons, one of the many being Coach Jose Mourinho. The Real Madrid Coach is looking for a "Top" goalkeeper to pressure & be a competent substitute for current goalie Iker Casillas.

The bad moments at Manchester for De Gea is making some think that Jorge Mendes could be planning a chance of "airs" for his new client  The young goalkeeper cost Man Utd 25M€, while Real Madrid is said to only consider this option for less than 20M€

I personally don't give much credit to this local rumour at this moment. Why? Manchester United would be foolish to let go this talent, independently of his "mistakes", as many believe De Gea is the "heir" to the Spanish National Team Goalkeeper position when Casillas gives it up.

ATLETICO DE MADRID 2011 TRANSFER NEWS | PINOCCHIO - DIEGO LOPEZ - OSVALDO

While ATLETICO DE MADRID,  via their owners,  keep their "Pinocchio" masks on denying that current goalkeeper DE GEA & forward SERGIO AGUERO have alternative plans other than with Atletico, local Spanish Football news indicates all the contrary. Apart from the fact that Atletico de Madrid is badly managed overall, or if at all well it is managed for other reasons far from Football, the Clubs facial "nose" growing techniques do not accompany the very public search by the Club for a new goalkeeper & forward for next season. The chosen "substitutions" for De Gea & Aguero are Villareal International goalkeeper DIEGO LOPEZ & Espanyol forward OSVALDO.

VILLAREAL have taken advantage in the negotiation process knowing beforehand the urgent need by Atletico to find a replacement for young David De Gea who will go to Manchester United. Thus Villareal has put the price of 12M€ on their player.

RCD ESPANYOL also know beforehand the urgency at Atletico to solve & find a replacement for Sergio Aguero & have placed a "stiff" 20M€ price tag onto OSVALDO. It is obvious that negotiations will take the usual pull - push strategy until things come to good port.

Therefore, we already know where big part of the "new" cash income will be destined from the sale of De Gea & Aguero, even though our "Pinocchio´s" still are attempting to make everyone think & believe the "obvious" will not happen.

MANCHESTER UNITED COACH FERGUSON ANNOUNCES THE DAVID DE GEA SIGNING

SPANISH FOOTBALL loses a young promise & enormous talent, while ATLETICO DE MADRID sells one of its "crown jewels". English Premier League Club MANCHESTER UNITED via its manager/coach Sir Alex Ferguson has announced tonight that young Spanish U-21 International goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA is the chosen player to substitute Van Dar Sar in the United goal.

Spanish Sports daily "AS" has estimated the deal to be around 20M€. The rumours have been intense the last weeks,  & it was mentioned here months back,  that Manchester United had placed their eyes on the 20 year old goalkeeper months ago.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ATLETICO DE MADRID TO SELL THEIR "CROWN JEWELS" ?

ATLETICO DE MADRID seems to be the epicenter of SPANISH FOOTBALL rumour & gossip this week. The news is not too good if your an Atletico fan & will make you wonder how the team will fair next year if the "lane way talks" come true.

The first name that many see out of the Club is DIEGO FORLAN. As mentioned in the below post, Turkish side Besiktas & English Premier League Club Tottenham Hotspurs are knocking hard on his door. However, today the player "surprisingly" says that he wishes to stay next season at Atletico. I personally don´t see it.

The persistent rumour that just will not go away is the SERGIO AGUERO & REAL MADRID "connection".  The player has said that he is happy at Atletico may a time, but has never shut the exit door either with his comments. In fact, a "dirty & vicious" rumour says that the player has told the Club to listen to offers if they arrive these coming months. The Club always mentions that Aguero has a 45M€ contract release clause which includes a 18% VAT to add on top.

Two Clubs are said to by "hoovering" over the Club in reference to the Aguero situation. The first is English Club MANCHESTER CITY looking for a "crack" for its Champions League campaign & the second is REAL MADRID that has been looking at Aguero for months.  The latter does not wish to pay the extra 18% VAT,  plus Atletico will face fan riots if the "enemy" was to "steal" the crown jewel. But Real Madrid may "throw" in a couple of players ( with €€€€ ) to ease the pain. This last rumour is gaining strenght locally, BUT IT IS ONLY A RUMOUR.

What is "red hot" is the story-gossip that young goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA will be heading to MANCHESTER UNITED next season. The rumour is gaining size & speed just like a snow-ball rolling downhill. The player has not denied anything & has literally said that a decision will be made at the end of the season.

Three heavyweight players which includes two prized assets that may lead to the burning down of the stadium by fans if they do finally leave Atletico. As I had said, they are rumours & not verified 100%, so if your an Atletico fan please remain calm. Nervous but calm for the moment.

MANCHESTER UNITED TIES UP ATLETICO DE MADRID GOALKEEPER DAVID DE GEA ?

SPANISH FOOTBALL generates enough news to keep more the 10 papers surviving & feeding a Football mad Nation. That gives for a lot of daily content & news which covers a whole range of "scoops", truths, reviews, updates, previews, pink & lots of rumours.

The "hot rumour" for today is the news "bomb" dropped by Spanish radio "Onda Cero" ( a bit  known for its love of gaining attention) that English Club MANCHESTER UNITED had shut a deal of transfer with ATLETICO DE MADRID for young goalkeeping talent DAVID DE GEA. The deal was even given a number, 20M€ &the  De Gea "representative" Jorge Mendes ( Ronaldo, Mourinho, Di Maria, Calvalho...& many more) was in Manchester for the Champions League match against Chelsea.

The players father has come out to comment that nothing is true; I would expect this as the season is not as yet finished. The Club Atletico de Madrid has gone public saying that the story is totally false; I would expect this as the Directives are already unfire & the possible fanbase backlash would be considerable.


I normally don´t give much credit to the 99% "bullshit" that flies out from the Spanish Football machine, don´t this one makes me stop & take note. Manchester United has been expressing their real interest since last year & this rumour has never gone away. Lastly, when a person & Football representative like "Jorge Mendes" is in the picture you know that there is llittle "bullshit" to be thrown about as business is business.

ATLETICO MADRID REACTS TO MANCHESTER UNITED "OFFER" FOR DAVID DE GEA

ATLETICO DE MADRID Directives, fans & Spanish Football experts all agree that 19 year old Goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA is destined to be a World class player & Spain´s next goalie after Casillas gives way. In fact, De Gea is already a vital piece of the Spanish U-21 Squad.

Readers may be surprised to learn that the current salary of David De Gea at Atletico de Madrid is “only” 400.000€ / season. You can now understand the attraction of the Manchester United sirens from the player. Atletico has reacted to the “supposed” Manchester United offer of 18M€ by offering David e Gea a pay rise to the figure of 1.1M€.

I still think it is “peanuts” taking into account his youth, class & certain destiny. However, I also question the “timely” appearance of the Manchester United “threat” & how that has lead to a salary pay raise offer days after the news flash. Perhaps Atletico is reacting to fans pressure & is at least attempting to show that the Clubs is reacting to keep the player although there is an agreement with Man Utd. Who knows!


Football is full of unknowns, surprises & lots of economic interests all interacting just like atoms & electrons that make the future difficult to predict. Will De Gea stay? Will he leave? ATLETICO DE MADRID TALKING WITH MANCHESTER UNITED OVER DAVID DE GEA ?

This is not the first or the second post that I put up commenting the interest that English Club MANCHESTER UNITED has for young U-21 Spanish International & ATLETICO DE MADRID goalkeeper DAVID DE GEA.

According to the English paper “The Times” both mentioned Clubs have begun talking & studying possibilities of a transfer deal. In fact, the paper goes further explaining that the negotiations are advanced & are at a stage of agreeing if the young Spanish player “goes over” in the January 2011 “Winter Market” or at the end of the season.
