The Mexican player has made up is mind & has chosen Arsenal FC as his next destination & Club. Arsenal has been following the defender for months & is willing to offer the Spanish Football Club Espanyol 20M€ in transfer fee. Offer hard to refuse. Stay tuned! Tweet
Spanish Cup - Copa del Rey ( Kings Cup ) - 1º leg Quarter Finals matches the next days with tonight RCD Espanyol hosting Real Madrid. The final result was 0 - 1 score in favour of Real Madrid which gives them a good advantage ( with the away goal ) for the return 2º leg game in their Stadium.
The first half was all Real Madrid which dominated all their lines & areas of the field creating numerous opportunities of goal. They were rewarded when Arbeloa crossed a ball into the goal square in the 25th min that Bale flicked & Karim Benzema headed in for the goal. Gareth Bale had a free-kick moment that looked like a goal but the Espanyol keeper Casillas stopped it majestically. Cristiano Ronaldo also missed a few chances & luckily for Espanyol the match & the tie was not all over for them by half time. The second half was another story altogether as Espanyol lifted notably in their play & intensity & put Real Madrid on the back foot. They dominated the first 15 min of the second half & created goal opportunities - especially Sergio Garcia - but failed to convert or Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas solved the "problems". In fact Casillas made a "miracle save" in a one-on-one situation with Espanyol forward Cordoba that will be talked, remembered & ignite again the Lopez-Casillas debate. Match saver! Real Madrid recovered mid-way & the game became a "tennis type" affair with attacking from one side to the other & chances of goal going to both teams. But Espanyol made a last effort towards the end of the game that had Real Madrid calling the whistle & they were unlucky to not have scored & draw the result.
Great match, full of action & entertaining with both sides deserving merit. The 2º leg game in Madrid will be intense & Real Madrid will have to be cautious. Tomorrow more Kings Cup - Copa de Rey 1º leg Quarter-final games. Tweet
Spanish Football Club RCD Espanyol defeated Real Madrid 3 - 2 in the Final of the XVII International Football 7 aside U- 12 Tournament being held in Arona ( Tenerife, Canary Islands; Spain). The youngsters aged between 11 & 12 years of age gave a great spectacle of Football which went right down to the last second as Espanyol avoided Real Madrid equalizing & forcing extra-time.
Espanyol put in a brilliant performance all tournament ensuring that the Club has a great future ahead with young Football promises. The goals came in the following order:
Alex 14th min, 1-0
Alex 19th min, 2-0
Diego 21st min, 2-1
Nico 37th min, 3-1
Diego 38th min, 3 -2.
Valencia CF finished in third place in the tournament.
Alex scores for Espanyol
The player of the tournament went to Real Madrid youngster Pedro. The player is a year younger than all the rest & shined with power, vision, skills & goals. Pedro will be eligible to repeat next year with Real Madrid in this tournament.
Most Spanish Football Clubs are busy confectioning their squads for the upcoming 2013 - 2104 season. While the big Clubs get the headlines, today we will give some space to RCD Espanyol which will soon announce an interesting new signing.
Brazilian forward Samuel Rosa Gonçalves - Samuel - comes from Fluminense & signs with Espanyol for the next 4 seasons. The price is 3,8M€ which is economical considering the high figures been published & paid for in the past weeks. Samuel is the Spanish Clubs big summer signing & the technical team are convinced that Samuel will add quality & lots of goals to the sqaud.
Clubs are expected to make official the signing in the next hours & Samuel to fly over for the medical review, contract signing & begin the pre-saseon with Espanyol. Welcome to Spanish Football! Tweet
Forget about Luis Suarez, Cavani, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina etc, the star signing by FC Barcelona is 12 year old Adria Bernabe. The Barça youth scouts spotted the young player in a recent tournament & decided to sign at once. The problem is that that "kid" belonged to city of Barcelona rival Club RCD Espanyol & they are not happy at all with the Barça manners.
RCD Espanyol are "steaming" with what they consider as disrespect by FC Barcelona on the way they have "taken away" their 12 year old promise. According to RCD Espanyol FC Barcelona dealt with the youngsters representative - the boy has two - & never consulted them on their intentions. RCD ESpanyol has taken this case to the "Professional Liga Association" (LFP) to denounce that boys less than 15 years of age should not have representatives & that Clubs should not be permitted to negotiate their future like "products". RCD Espanyol are "pissed" with Barça because its the third "young promise" that has been poached from them & they are looking at ways to stop this kind of "unethical" practice.
Take note of the name Adria Bernebeu , FC Barcelona 12 year old star signing. Tweet
They say life is a circle. Who would have thought that current English Club BOLTON player PETROV would return to Spanish Football after his time at Atletico de Madrid years back.
Petrov landed in the city of Barcelona today to finish of the paperwork to play at RCD ESPANYOL. He has permission from Bolton & the deal is until the end of this season & if Espanyol stays in the First Division, continue another year. This is the last "hurray" for the player as he has 33 years & entering the twilight of his career.
Sticking with RCD Espanyol , they are in talks with Italian Club Parma about the loan of Colombian player & forward PABON. The Barcelona Club are having a nightmare season & are currently 18th on the Spanish League classification ladder , in the danger-relegation area, & are attempting to turn things around for the back-end of the season. Good to read that the Portuguese "Football warrior" will be back to SPANISH FOOTBALL. Everyone involved is just awaiting the final medical exam so as to become a new player of the Barcelona city Club RCD ESPANYOL. The BESIKTAS player was seen arriving at Barcelona to formalize his agreement this morning.
Simao
The 32 year old ex-Barcelona & ex-At.Madrid player negotiated his finish with the Turkish Club & arrives to Espanyol free of transfer fee. Very good signing for Espanyol as Simao will add plenty experience, class upfront & goals.
This piece comes from Spanish Sports & Barcelona based paper "Sport". According to the daily, RCD ESPANYOL is back at it again in their attempts to sign a striker & they have their eyes onAJAX Moroccan forward EL HAMDAOUA.
This isn´t the first contact between the Spanish Football Club & the player, in fact they had an agreement for this season & things looked a "done deal" until something went wrong the last day of signings ( 31st of August). I suppose it had to do with money as with most cases.
The Ajax player is not in the plans of current Coach Frank De Boer & is training apart from the first team. Espanyol have a "hole" in the forward line since Osvaldo moved to AC Roma & need to fill it urgently.
Everything points that the Moroccan player will be the new signing of Espanyol for the next Winter Market ( 1st of January 2011). Stay tuned! Tweet
While ATLETICO DE MADRID, via their owners, keep their "Pinocchio" masks on denying that current goalkeeper DE GEA & forward SERGIO AGUERO have alternative plans other than with Atletico, local Spanish Football news indicates all the contrary. Apart from the fact that Atletico de Madrid is badly managed overall, or if at all well it is managed for other reasons far from Football, the Clubs facial "nose" growing techniques do not accompany the very public search by the Club for a new goalkeeper & forward for next season. The chosen "substitutions" for De Gea & Aguero are Villareal International goalkeeper DIEGO LOPEZ & Espanyol forward OSVALDO.
Diego Lopez
VILLAREAL have taken advantage in the negotiation process knowing beforehand the urgent need by Atletico to find a replacement for young David De Gea who will go to Manchester United. Thus Villareal has put the price of 12M€ on their player.
Osvaldo
RCD ESPANYOL also know beforehand the urgency at Atletico to solve & find a replacement for Sergio Aguero & have placed a "stiff" 20M€ price tag onto OSVALDO. It is obvious that negotiations will take the usual pull - push strategy until things come to good port.
Therefore, we already know where big part of the "new" cash income will be destined from the sale of De Gea & Aguero, even though our "Pinocchio´s" still are attempting to make everyone think & believe the "obvious" will not happen.
Spanish Sports daily paper "AS" publish in todays Football section that ATLETICO DE MADRID has its eye on RCD ESPANYOL Argentine forward OSVALDO for next season. The player has shown this season his goal scoring class & is the natural substitution for Diego Forlan who will most likely ( 99,9%) leave Atletico at the end of the season.
Osvaldo RCD ESPANYOL
The price asked by Espanyol is around 10M€ & Atletico could include a discarded player within the operation. Other Clubs like Sevilla FC & English Premier League Club Tottenham have been following, but at this point - & according to the mentioned Sports daily - Atletico is very close in shutting the deal. News up on Spanish Sports paper "AS" announce that REAL MADRID has signed RCD ESPANYOL player JOSE CALLEJON. Real Madrid is already in full gear with next seasons squad planification & will pay the sum of around 5M€ for the player. However, the transfer will not be made official until the end of this current season.
RCD Espanyol player Callejon
This could be the second signing for Real Madrid, if we are to believe the hot stories that Turkish midfield promise SAHIN from German Club Borrusia Dortmund is already a done deal. Another player said to be a new incorporation as well is young Getafe player Parejo who, if true, returns home. Tweet
It is very rare for a low level Club, who continually struggles to stay out of the 2º Division,to have a player who has debuted with them with a young age & has remained there all his playing career (except 2 seasons in 2º Division Clubs, to later return). What this means is that the player (Spanish International) has refused numerous offers to bigger & better Clubs because he considers his present Club to be far above all personal ambitious. Apart from this his numbers speak for themselves, 15 years at the Club with more then 175 goals, the Clubs all-time goal scorer. Who is the player? Which is the Club? RAÚL TAMUDO &RCD ESPANYOL
The player has 31 years of age & ends contract the 30th of June 2010. Raúl Tamado, a legend at the Club, wishes to continue & renew. But as history shows by experience in other Clubs, when you’re not wanted, but however loved by your fans, you need to find a method & a way to get rid of the player without seeming to show it. Said another way, in plain simple life language, be a coward.
When the rumour arises from within the Club that RCD Espanyol maybe thinking of axing a “big name player”, Tamudo´s representative approaches the Club to inquire if it is his player they are thinking. Let’s not forget that if Espanyol does not renew Tamudo before the 1st of January 2010 the player under UEFA/FIFA rules is free to negotiate his future with any Club he wishes. It is of courtesy for the player to ask & to wish to know the intentions of his Club in reference to his future. If Espanyol don’t wish him, simply say it & Tamudo could leave in the “Winter Market”
with any problems.
But this all comes from a few months back with new Coach Pochettino. You see, Tamudo is thought off as the “old school”, blocking the path for another younger player & the new Coach Pochettino feels the Club needs a “generational change”. So to force things, you take away the Captaincy from Tamudo & you lament in public the continuous injuries that the player is experiencing to justify your thoughts. Then you grab onto the last incident, that Tamudo´s agent has asked that the player be freed to leave if the Club does not wish the player– which according to Tamudo is false - & you have the right ingredients to sell to your fans that their heroe wishes to leave them.
Raúl Tamudo, who doesn’t do press conferences precisely to not enter in controversy, had to call one yesterday to clear things after the day before Club Directives called one to manifest that the player wanted to leave; very opportunistic by Espanyol really, the Club was waiting for the final argument that was handed in by a “naïve” players agent to throw their ex-Captian to the lions.
Here is the video of the press conference. It´s in Spanish, but
suffice to say the player goes on to say: 1. He is indignated with the Club & wishes to clear things 2. He wishes to finish his carreer at the Club 3. Will happily sign an extended contract 4. The Clubs arguments are false
5. Asks for an apology. Something the Club will not do.
Lastly, the player gets emotional & leaves distressed. What makes a grown man cry?
This story has been posted to highlight that Raúl Tamudo, is the Raúl Gonzalez (Real Madrid), of RCD Espanyol. The difference being that the latter doesn’t suffer unlucky injuries, keeps scoring goals & is a Spanish Football Legend. But the same “exit” arguments are being used to attempt to force an early retirement for the Real Madrid Captain – except the argument that he wishes to leave. Secondly, it proves that in modern Football values such as loyalty, honour, colours…& the rest of rubbish are terms without substance & that fans should reflect & bring back into perspective their at times "mindless support" for Football Clubs. These entities do not care about their players &/or fans in reality except to generate cash via titles with a "win at all cost" ethos. When the times are great Clubs will pour out all the slogans & heart warming words to manipulate & keep the heard in place for their ends. Look at Figo, Robben, Sneijder,Salgado, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto´o …just to name a few recent examples out of hundred cases across Spanish Football.
In the case of RCD Espanyol one would have thought that to differentiate them from the rest & especially from their city sharing rival FC BARCELONA one would embrace values such as loyalty & honour. However, it seems Espanyol is just another Club, a low struggling Club in First Division that have gone lower after witnessing how they treat their players, fans & in this case, a living Football Club legend.
Back from a weekend at the countryside & find that Spanish Club RCD ESPANYOL won 3 – 0LIVERPOOL FC yesterday in a friendly game to celebrate Espanyol´s brand new Stadium. Good for them!
Spanish Football has another superstar Football player for next season, the "Japanese equivalent" of Cristiano Ronaldo, midfielder SHUNSUKE NAKAMURA has signed for two years with RCD ESPANYOL.
The Japanese player comes from Scottish Club GLASGOW CELTIC & comes “free” after finishing his contract at the Scottish team. His new team will own a high percentage of his image rights as the 30 year old Nakamura is a superstar in Japan & will generate cash inflows for Espanyol
