SPANISH FOOTBALL IS AN "EXPORTER" OF SUCCESS

Ireland Coach Giovanni Trapattoni mentioned after the Spain - Ireland Friendly game days back, that this Spain was better than the legendary Brazil of Pele. A real honour coming from a man who is a walking Football History book & with huge experience. 

There is no doubt that Spain has & is ruling World Football since 2008 with Euro 2008, FIFA World Cup 2010 & Euro 2012 titles. If Spain can add the upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup it would be a cherry on their cake, although the history breaker & "immortal status" would be to retain World Champions title by winning the FIFA 2014 World Cup. Difficult but possible with this generation of Spanish Football players.

There are many reasons why Spain now dominates World Football, one being obvious, the gathering of an exceptional once in a lifetime generation of class players like Iniesta, Xavi, Ramos, Pique, Casillas, Silva etc & etc. But another reason is the exportation of Spanish Football Players to overseas to foreign Football Leagues.

This until recent times was not a common practice for Spanish Football Players, it was very rare because they were timid & full of non-confidence due to lack of language skills, lack of foreign culture & very close family ties. Take the very last signing by Manchester City, wing Jesus Navas, he has overcome a serious problem of anxiety attacks eveytime he was far from home. The proble was so severe that it threaten to halt his International Football career.  Now the man goes 1000s of kilometres the practice his profession.

The above image shows a handful of Spanish players overseas who are part of the Spanish National Team, back there are many others like Michu ( Swansea ) , Javi Garcia ( Man City ) , David de Gea ( Man Utd ) & so on, just to mention a few.

This jump overseas has given Spanish players new, different Football styles & culture & when they all return to the National Team, Spain as a Football squad benefits from the richness & the elimination of a past inferiority complex. 

There will be more exports. Iago Aspas of Celta will join Liverpool FC next season, Adrian & Cañas of Betis go of to England, young Thiago of FC Barcelona is rumoured for Man Utd & Joaquin of Malaga goes off to Italy next season. This is good, for their personal growth & experience & for Spanish Football, where we hope will continue to give us plenty of joys in the next coming years.

DE GEA - MATA INCLUDED IN THE ENGLISH PREMIER IDEAL 11

The "PFA" - Professional Football Association - of the English Premier League has voted their "Ideal 11" for season 2012- 2013. The distinction is great in that the voting comes from your peers in the "Best 11 of the English Premier League". 

The player most valued by his peers is Gareth Bale of Tottenham Hotspurs. This player as we all know is a Real Madrid CF target for next season. 

The good & proud news for Spanish Soccer - Football is the inclusion of two Spanish Football Players & Internationals doing their jobs in the English Premier League: David De Gea & Juan Mata.

Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea was voted by his peers as the "Best Goalkeeper" for season 2012-2013. Excellent distinction for a young player who started his career at Manchester United in a nervous & criticised fashion. The adaptation process was difficult for young De Gea who had to adapt his game & gain some muscle for English Football. The player has now overcome criticisms & gained the confidence of his Coach Ferguson to be a regular in the team. 

Second Spaniard is Juan Mata for Chelsea FC. His natural talent has never been questioned. The player just keeps evolving & getting better season after season to become a vital asset for his team. From a local perspective I believe Spanish Football Team Coach Del Bosque should take note & find a regular place on the Spanish Team for Mata.

RAUL GONZALEZ | KEEPS WINNING TITLES ( AL SADD )

Remember Raul Gonzalez? Ex-Real Madrid & Spanish International Legend? The player has helped out his current Football Team Al Sadd win the Qatar Football League. Al Sadd won the title after attempting to do so for the last 7 years. 

The almost 36 year old Spanish Football player keeps piling up titles to his name. Al Sadd defeated 3-1 Al-Khuraitiat to secure the Qatar Championship, this gave Raul his 19 official title: 16 with Real Madrid & 2 with Schelke 04 (German Cup & SuperCup). 

Extraordinary Football player & talent. Pity that age does not forgive anyone or else we could have the player still exhibiting his talents, goals & winning hunger in Spanish Football.

MONREAL & THE EXPANSION OF SPANISH FOOTBALL

That English Club ARSENAL has signed Spanish International & MALAGA FC defender MONREAL for 9,3M GBP is old news. From here we wish the player luck & send a message over to the Arsenal fans that this is a very good buy. Monreal joins other Spaniards at the Club like Arteta & Cazorla with many more scattered across other English Premier League Clubs. 

It now is a familiar story to read about Spanish Football Players making a jump out of Spain to play in overseas Clubs. But it was not like this at all until recent years. This "phenomenon" is new as traditionally Spanish Soccer players preferred to stay in Spain even if that meant not playing at all.

The reasons for being reluctant in this aspect, in my opinion, were two: cultural & lack of prestige overseas. The first comes from a lack of International awareness & primarily from not being able to dominant a foreign language. This last is still a problem in Spain as very few ( relatively ) speak well other languages especially English. The decades of European isolation under Dictator Franco ( 1939 - 1973 ) created a "bubble" that due to propaganda reasons had everyone believe that Spain was the centre of the World & languages was not a bonus. This along with strong family ties lead to a low desire to leave & an inferiority complex - or scare - with everything related with outside Spain. Basically without knowledge of overseas cultures & language leaving home was not an option. Said this, paradoxically those who could not earn a living from Football immigrated by the their hundreds of thousands lead by need.

The second aspect is the lack of knowledge of Spanish Football players overseas. The explosion of the current generation of Spanish Football Players has placed Spain & its Footballers in the Nº1 World Football position, just like Brazilians back in the 1950s - 80s. The incredible achievements of winning the Euro 2008 - World Cup 2010 - Euro 2012, along with dominating European Football at Club level has turned Spanish Football Players into high valued assets that every Club wishes to have in their squad.

The Spanish Football pioneers in making the jump overseas are many & now househlod names here & in Europe. Remember the wave the went to Liverpool FC ? Coach Benitez, Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa , Reina & Torres, which gave the Club a European Title ? Arteta to Everton, Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal, Mata  to Chelsea, Silva to Man City, De Gea at Man Utd, Raul Gonzalez to Schalke 04...now Bojan to MIlan, Michu at Swansea, Cazorla & now Monreal to Arsenal...the list goes on & on.

Overcoming cultural & personal barriers has in return bettered Spanish Football & more so the Spanish National Team. Those Internationals playing overseas have brought back "new ways" of playing with has enriched the National side & has played a part in their recent success.

Monreal is just the last that has endeavoured to play away from home which will enrich is profession Football career & his personal life. New horizons, new adventures & new friends are nothing to be sacred about, & return we back home gain in the new Football ideas won & to be applied locally by those that left & later returned.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | CARLES PUYOL CLOSE TO HIS 100 TH INTERNATIONAL CAP

This post is more about a person & a Football professional that deserves a post & a mention, a special mention. FC BARCELONA Captain & Spanish International defender CARLES PUYOL has been called up today by Spanish National Team Selector & Coach Vicente Del Bosque. The Spanish team will play Uruguay in an International Friendly next Wednesday in Qatar. The news is that if Carles Puyol gets a run in that game it will be his 100 th International Cap with Spain, & this deserves a mention.

There are few players in Spanish Football that receive the admiration from all sides of Spanish Football. Carles Puyol has won that "honour" with his play, dedication, spirit, sense of honour & leadership. Admired at Camp Barça, the player receives the same accolades from Real Madrid fans as from any other Club here or around the World. 

His list of achievements are unquestionable; World & European champion, Champions League, Super Cup, Spanish Cup, World Clubs...etc y etc. Plus he is considered one of the best defenders in World Football.

The last couple of years injury has hampered the man but his personality & drive brings him back with the same enthusiasm as any youngster. His age of 34 does not seem to be wearing out the defender, the man has said that he would like to play until 38 - 40 years of age. We will need to see. Until then lets enjoy this player & send a sincere congratulations for his 100 th International Cap with Spain - if he plays - something I don´t doubt from Coach Del Bosque who will give him the honour at some stage of the match.

The player was voted by specialist media Football experts & World Football specialists. The below list of Top 15 players is full of Spaniards & Players in the Spanish League.

SPANISH FOOTBALL PLAYER MICHU LEADS EPL GOAL TALLY

The saying goes something like; ...sometimes ones needs to leave "home" to find success. Spanish Football player MICHU was last season scoring goals at Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano, now he is at English Premier League Club SWANSEA & the top goal scorer in English Football.

Michu has gradually gained more Sports media coverage locally as his goal tally rises weekly which is now at 13 goals. His goal against Manchester United in his team 1 - 1 draw this weekend has "awaken" most of us here to one of "our" players overseas who is currently on "fire" scoring goals. 

Great to see this sort of news coming in.

Plenty of Spanish U-21 Internationals & Spanish Football based youngsters are on the list of candidates for this years "Golden Boy Award". The title is handed in by Italian paper "Tuttosport" with the votes of 30 journalists that will claim the "Best U-21 player in European Football". CARLES PUYOL | THE FOOTBALL IRON MAN

Found this marvellous infograph in the Spanish Sports & Barcelona based paper "Sport" dedicated to one of Spanish Football great examples & players: CARLES PUYOL. The FC BARCELONA defender & Captain, plus Spanish International is currently 34 years of age & is "sadly" entering the twilight of his career.

But the man has surpassed & overcome many bad Football moments & injuries to keep on going at the maximum level which has put him up there with the "Best Defenders in World Football".

The below image shows all the areas of the body that Puyol has suffered an injury - 22 times, 22 miracles. It´s in Spanish but easily understood with blue ( total injuries of the area ) , red ( total number of days out of action) & yellow ( days out of action due to the specific illustrated injury) .

IFFHS NAMES XAVI HERNANDEZ BEST MIDFIELDER 2011

The FIFA backed IFFHS ( International Football Federation of History & Statistics) has handed in their list of the "Best Midfielder in World Football" for 2011 ( game creator + assistances) . The FC BARCELONA & Spanish Football International XAVI HERNANDEZ tops the list over second placed team-mate Lionel Messi. Its the 4th consecutive time that Xavi gets this prestigious recognition, & maybe, just maybe, the Golden Ball organizers can put aside their "marketing variable" & prize Xavi for at least his long & consistent trajectory. However, don't think this will happen.

SPANISH FOOTBALL LOSES JESUS PEREDA AT 73

SPANISH FOOTBALL has lost a member of its historical family with the passing away of Spanish Football player JESUS PEREDA at the age of 73 due to cancer.

Jesus Pereda played for FC BARCELONA, REAL MADRID ( his only Spanish League Title) & SEVILLA FC. He was also member of the Spanish National Football Team that won the 1964 European Nations Cup against Russia. His last game with Spain was against Yugoslavia in 1968. No doubt Spanish Football stadiums will be showing their respects in coming days.

RAUL | KING OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GOAL

You don´t have to be physically exercising your profession in Spain to get a post on Spanish Football Sports. Even less are the prerequisites if you happen to be a Spanish Football living legend like RAUL GONZALEZ BLANCO. The age old saying of "never keep a good man down" has never been so relevant as when applied to Raul & his new found "Football life" in German Football. After leaving his long time Club REAL MADRID virtually under the "has been" cloud, the player has rejuvenated at SCHALKE 04 helping the Club break records in Europe with one foot in the semi-finals of Champions League & Raul adding to his Champions League goalscoring record.

Schalke 04 won 2 - 5 yesterday reigning Champions League title holders  Inter Milan in the 1ºst leg of the Quarter-Final, with a goal from Raul included expanding his record numbers in Champions League. Here are some figures:

• 139 games played in European Cup (Champions League). Just one game from equalling all time record holder Paolo Maldini, a feat assured if he runs on the field for Schalke 04 in the 2º leg return match

SPANISH INTERNATIONAL PLAYER XAVI HERNANDEZ REACHES HIS 100th INTERNATIONAL GAMES WITH SPAIN

Tomorrow when XAVI HERNANDEZ runs onto the field to represent his country with the SPAINISH FOOTBALL TEAM that plays against the Czech Republic in their important Euro 2012 qualifying Group I match, the FC Bareclona midfielder will have reached a personal & prestigious milestone in his spectacular professional Football career: the 100th International Cap for SPAIN.

The 31 year old born in Terrasa (Catalonia) & breed in FC Barcelona as a player, has become a fundamental piece & member of the Spanish National Football Team. The "brain" behind his Club & of the Spanish Team, Xavi Hernandez is currently considered the "Best Midfielder Player in the World" for his skill, touch & his extraordinary vision of play. That has all changed in the last few years with many Football players going & currently playing in the English Premier League, the Budesliga, Greece, Russia, Italy, Turkey...etc. The fact is that many are doing quiet well indeed for themselves & with their team becoming local stars & heroes.

So much is the adoration towards some Spanish born players overseas that "field chants - songs" have been created by the local fans to cheer them on, the most recent famous example being Liverpool with their ode to Fernando Torres with the local super-hit "Liverpool´s Nº9" before leaving to Chelsea.

Now we have another song getting on the "airwaves" from German team fans SCHALKE 04 & towards their Spanish foward , ex - Real Madrid Captain, RAUL GONZALEZ BLANCO. Spanish musician Rafael de Alcala & German Forster Volker have recorded "HOLA RAUL". Apparently it is a local hit!

The song is the least of the news, great to hear obviously, but not the main point. The caption is that RAUL has settled in nicely with his new Club, has won the hearts of the Schalke 04 fans & is again enjoying playing Football & added to this, is still creating milestones. Thats the big & good news, great story & happy fun song at that...
