REAL MADRID: COACH PELLEGRINI DAYS ARE COUNTED?

The President of Real Madrid Florentino Perez wants him out, or
that is the unsaid rumour circulating through the Sports media.
Real Madrid Director General Jorge Valdano insists that he stays,
naturally was Valdano who recommended & brought the man to the
Club. Coach Manuel Pellegrini has lost the authority & control of
the dressing room, the catalyst being a series of bad decisions that
he is paying for now & their ramifications are spilling onto the field
& in the Clubs play.

President Florentino would have been pleased if Coach Pellegrini
had announced that he would resign last Wednesday after Real
Madrid most humiliating defeat in its History to a 2ºB Division team
(equivalent of 3ºrd Division elsewhere), but he didn’t. The front
page of Sports daily “Marca” today puts how Guti told Coach
Pellegrini “Go F*ck Yourself” at halftime of that same match.

Here is a translation of what was said ( on the front page ):
Guti - "Come on guys, we need to show some balls"

Pellegrini - "Perhaps you also could do more, if you don´t wish to
play tell me so"
Guti - "If I am the problem take me off"
Pellegrini - "Get dressed"
Guti - "Go F*ck Yourself"

But there are more problems:

1. Rumours coming out from the dressing room suggest that the players
have no real idea of what they are playing at, that is, there is no
system, no strategy. One day its 4-2-2-2, another it’s 4-3-3 & then it’s
4-2-3-1 …etc. The team plays without wingers & as Benzema has
commented they run-over each other upfront because everyone goes
through the centre. In last Wednesday defeat the defensive flanks
were a real mess & a hole where the opposition team goes right
through.

2. At the start of the season, Coach Pellegrini was given orders to
begin “retiring”, or putting onto a second level”, current Captain Raúl.
The idea was to begin a “changing of the Guard” & transferring the
authority to Casillas & more specifically Kaká. The new project called
for the Brazilian to become the field “leader” & thus the Director of
the Orchestra. Instead Coach Pellegrini has succumbed to the influence
of Raúl & has favoured him over others, giving the Captain more time
& play than originally planned. Many believe that Raúl eclipses his
team-mates on the field as they all attempt to adhere to his play & not
to the collective. As a player – no name given – said; Raúl “disturbs”
upfront the play of the team. Now it’s too late for Pellegrini to go
back.

3. Coach Pellegrini has badly handed the psychological states of his
newer & younger players. Benzema has been taken off four games
straight in favour of Raul, this has created doubts in the young mans
mind which leads to frustration in his play as he wishes to score at
all costs when he does get a chance, he doesn’t & he get nervous
with more doubts. Young Granero has not escaped the confusion as
he has been the sacrificed player every time things go wrong on the
field with substitution. This can only ruin the confidence of the
player & do no good in the mid-term. Lastly, Higuaín has had little
play after scoring more than 20 goals last season. Here again the
youngster has been put into second-place in favour of the more
favoured veteran Raúl. Higuaín is another player whose confidence
has been affected & lowered by the Coaches decision.

4. Continual problems in defence that do not get solved. Real
Madrid is a “swiss – cheese” with big problems on their defensive
flanks. Every time the defensive wingers go forward they leave
huge holes that are not covered by the midfielders. Real Madrid
is at the mercy of counter-attacks & the opposition team knows
this perfectly. However, there are no solutions, the problems
reappear game after game. Lastly, Drenthe is not a player for this
Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos is in a real mess form wise & a worry,
plus Marcelo is not reliable in his defensive duties.Yes, you may say,
that injuries have not helped Pellegrini at all; Ronaldo, Arbeloa,
Xabi, Nistelrooy, Metzelder , Huguían, Lass Diarra…etc, but its no
real excuse if you take last Wednesday’s defeat in the Spanish
Cup.

The latest news is that Coach Pellegrini has two games to solve
things. This weekends “Liga” game against Getafe & next weeks
Champions League game against AC Milan. His future will depend
on these games, while the Club is already working on possible
substitutes, just in case. Names sounding are Italian Mancini,
Brazilian Scolari, Spaniard Victor Fernandez, Danish ex- Real Madrid
player Laudrup, surprisingly ex-Spanish National Team Coach Luis
Aragones & current actual Director General Jorge Valdano.
The latter has already said that this will not happen, but he may
have to swallow his words to “save the Club” even if it only
means a temporary & passing solution.

What is clear is that Coach Pellegrini will have to do miracles &
get some luck over to his side. Independently of what will happen
SFS feels his days are numbered & that the problems are now so
deeply embedded that they will keep on surfacing above any
band-aid solutions. The fact off the matter is that Coach Pellegrini
came to do fundamental changes, put aside a living legend & stamp
his authority. What has in fact occurred is that there are no
changes, the living legend has become stronger than Pellegrini, he
has
lost credibility & Pellegrini has lost confidence & the authority
over the players. Some "bad tongues" have suggested that “key”
players may have already begun to set the path for the exit door of
their Coach, now that is a REAL problem, no Club should have does
sort of personalities in a dressing room.

VIDEO: ALCORCON 4 - REAL MADRID

See the ridiculous on video. The whole World is "baffled", but Alcorcon
played a great match & deserved the win. Watch how the Real Madrid
players - Drenthe, Guti... - don´t run, plus that the weakness of Real
Madrid are its flanks - right side & all the Clubs know it...

Note: YouTube may withdraw this video, if so, SFS will attempt to
substitute it when possile

SPANISH CUP 2009-2010 TUESDAY RESULTS: SURPRISE 4-0 DEFEAT BY REAL MADRID TO ALCORCON

Link below to 2º leg return games results - 10.11.2009
http://spanishfootballsports.blogspot.com/2009/11/spanish-
cup-2009-tuesday-return-games.html

Four games tonight of the 1ºst leg ties in the SPANISH CUP with an
earthquake surprise that will have tremours felt across the World; the
defeat of Real Madrid to a 2ºB Division team.

Ridiculous, humiliated, defeated, disappointing, scandalous, outrageous,
shameful, disgraceful, absurd, bizarre, ludicrous, unacceptable,
comical …this was REAL MADRID tonight who got their “ass kicked
by ALCORCON, a 2ºB Division team, in the 1º leg of tonight’s SPANISH
CUP round. The final result 4-0 is a tremendous surprise that will shake

the foundations of the Real Madrid structure & begin alternative
emergency plans
at the highest levels.

Firstly, let´s be honest, ALCORCON put in a blinder of a game, a huge
match with
it star BORJA scoring in spectacular fashion twice in the
15th & 52 th min.GOMEZ scored in the 39th & the other goal was a sign,
Real defender ARBELOA put in an own goal in the 21st min.

Real Madrid defence put in a shocker, a real nightmare performance
that
saw them overrun & outplayed by Alcorcon. Yes, Ronaldo, Kaká,
Ramos, Casillas, Lass...etc. did not play, but its no excuse. A 4M€ team
beat a 400M€ team 4-0 in a field with a 3.000 seat capacity.

Coach Pellegrini will surely now be questioned & there is no doubt in

my mind that his future at the Club is threathened & uncertain.
Pellegrini
has made tactical errors & has´nt been able to make a solid
team which
lacks motivation & does´nt have any fighting spirit.

This will leave an open wound that will take time to heel & maybe the

beginning of a Club crisis that will have some surprise results in the
future. Real Madrid needs to win the 2ºleg 5-0 if they are to pass onto

the next round of the Spanish Cup, a huge feat for any team that has
been whipped. Real Madrid is the laughing stock of Spain & of World
Football...someone will have to pay!

SEVILLA FC
solved their 1ºst leg match in the first half with their

upfront fire-power against little known home side CIUDAD DE LORQUI
with a 2-4 victory to Sevilla.

The home team showed some fighting spirit with ROLDAN scoring
twice in the
9th & 20th min, but Sevilla turned it full on to get four
goals in via LUIS FABIANO who scored twice (17th & 18th), JESUS
NAVAS
in the 22nd & CAPEL in the 35th min.

For the second half, Sevilla took the foot off the accelerator to
contain the
locals who with spirit tried hard. Sevilla too good!

Tough encounter between 2º Division RECREATIVO DE HUELVA &
REAL SPORTING DE GIJON which ended in a 1-1 draw. The locals

scored first in the 1ºst min thanks to CANDEIAS that shook the visitors.
Gijon slowly got back with grit & fighting spirit & managed to get the

valuable away goal when BILIC scored in the 47th min.

Lower 2ºB Division team MARBELLA gave ATLETICO DE MADRID a hard
& difficult time to make them sweat their 0-2 victory. New Atletico de
Madrid Coach Flores was baptisted with fire as Atletico continued to
display
its poor game. In fact the first Atletico goal came from an
unlucky own goal
from Marbella player TROYANO in the 18th min. It then
took Atletico
until the 83rd min to score their second & proper via MAXI
RODRIGUEZ
.

But a win is a win, & this should lift the spirits of the Madrid team who

can receive Marbella at home in the 2ºleg with a 2 goal advantage which
they
should in theory sow-up.

MANCHESTER UNITED INTERESTED IN DIEGO LOPEZ

The story has been quietly sounding for some time. Spanish sports
daily “Sport” has published today that MANCHESTER UNITED is
seriously thinking in 27 year old VILLAREAL & Spanish International
goalkeeper DIEGO LOPEZ as the substitute for current keeper VAN
DER SAR.

The English daily “The Sun” publishes that Manchester United would
be willing to offer 16M€, a sum that seems low to which SFS is sure
Villareal will ask for a higher amount.

Current Man Utd. keeper Van Der Sar has 39 years of age & suffers
injuries more often, added to this Coach/Manager Ferguson isn’t
convinced 100% with current substitute keeper Ben Foster. Diego
Lopez would be the player to give guarantees & security under
the goal posts

Stay tuned!

SPANISH CUP 2009-2010 - SFS FLASHBACK: REAL UNION 3 - REAL MADRID 2

REAL MADRID begins the long road for the 2009-2010 SPANISH CUP
tonight against 2ºB Division team ALCORCON (Madrid). The
favourites for this game are Real Madrid but Spanish Cup ties can be
awkward & dangerous.

Here is a SFS Flashback. It was the 2008-2009 season & Real Madrid
travelled to the then 2ºB Division side REAL UNION de IRÚN in their
1ºst leg clash & lost 3-2. A huge surprise with the 2ºleg clash at
“Santiago Bernabeu” finishing 4-3 in Real Madrid favour BUT were
knocked out by the away goals difference. It was a modern day
Football David vs. Goliath story.

Can Alcorcon be able to give the surprise? Surf into SFS around midnight
for the result of this game & other Spanish Cup 1ºst leg results.

U/17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2009:SPAIN 2-USA 1

The Spanish U-17 National Team got of to a good start against USA
with a well fought 2-1 victory in the U/17 World Championship
Group E opener being held in Nigeria. The match had to be stopped
twice due to cuts in the power that shut the lights, this added 15 mins
more of "tension" to the official 90 minutes.

The win was full of merit & praise for the Spaniards who found
themselves down with 10 men from the 2ºnd minute after Sergi
Gomez received a red card. The Spanish team then received the
first goal from USA two minutes later when MCINERMEY scored.
Spain did not lose their composure & managed to regain control
the game with goals from BORJA in the 22nd min & SARABIA in
the 30th min, to hold out the Americans for the rest of the game.

BRIEF DETAILS:
Spain 2: Edgar; Dalmau, Sergi Gómez, Muniesa, Aurtenetxe, Edu
Ramos, Koke, Sarabia, Isco (Jordi Amat, m.7), Muniain (Morata,
m.84), Borja (Kevin, m.62).

USA 1: Edwards; Polak, Watts, Herold, Kitchen (Zavaleta, m.46),
Shinsky, Duran (Sarle, m.88), Jerome (Chávez, m.46), Palodichuk,
Gil, McInermey.

Goals: 0-1. Min.4: McInermey; 1-1. Min.22: Borja; 2-1.
Min.30: Pablo Sarabia.

Spain’s next game will be against the Arab Emirates next Thursday.

FOOTBALL HUMOUR FROM BARCELONA

Some good hearted humour from Barcelona based Sports daily
"Mundo Deportivo" via its cartoon section - "Pelotazos". They are

enjoying their moment; the cartoon doesn´t need any translation:

To the Real Madrid fans, easy, there is a long, long, long way to go
before this season finishes

MAY GOD HELP ATLETICO DE MADRID

Something is serious very wrong when ATLETICO DE MADRID officials
allow – yes, allow – two of its most extreme & radical fans ( "Frente
Atletico") into a closed training session yesterday to speak face to face
with various players.

Here is the pre-situation. New Coach Quique Sanchez Flores calls a
training session for Sunday morning with his new team at the “Vicente
Calderon” Stadium; a get together shut to the public. About 50
members of Atletico de Madrid most radical supporter’s wing, decide
unilaterally to go to the stadium to let known their feelings; sentiments
they voiced the night before threathening everyone as the image shows
above. The surprise is when two of them – as "representatives" – were
allowed in to speak to the Club Captains. What did they tell them? Why
were they allowed in? Who gave the OK? What can they possibly say that
would be anything but positive? Imagine new Coach Flores "flipping out"!

It’s a big mistake, which highlights the total disorganization within
the Club starting from the Directives which could have set an unwanted
& dangerous precedent. Firstly, you do not want to give any influence or
importance to a radical & violent supporting wing that has put dirt
on the Club´s image & prestige in the past with their violence. Secondly,
they are an intimidating element that players do not need at this
moment. There have been times that technical staff & players have
been threatened with physical violence for the way the team was
performing. Thirdly, while Spanish Football authorities are working hard
to distance themselves from these unwanted violent, racist & dangerous
elements, Atletico de Madrid sends a message that is totally against
current & almost “heart warming” - for them at least.

Beware; before you know it you will have a radical & violent sector
of the Club "influencing" Club decisions, infiltrating training sessions,
intimating with players in a very uncomfortable way & working under
the threats of consent violence. The risk of losing control over this
extreme wing could be a reality.

Many players like Aguero, Forlan, Simao & other Internationals must
be thinking today about where the hell they are in & may begin to plan
for their future in other more seriously organized Clubs with clear
policies & driving ambitions. This image, & picture, also makes other
potential World Class & national players stop considering the idea of
signing for Atletico de Madrid if their well-being & families are going to
be threatened by over fanatical supporters.

New Coach Sanchez Flores has a hell of a job ahead of him; it will be
a miracle if he manages to re-float this sinking ship. Atletico is living its
worst institutional crisis in the last 10 years & relegation to 2ºDivision
looks odd on favourite at this moment. If this does happen, how does
the Club wish to stop the extreme & radical supporters from
demonstrating their displeasure? Telling them they are not welcomed?
Shutting the Clubs & Stadiums doors?

Very worrying times ahead & terrible top management decisions.
The Club is a disaster, lets hope the Atletico "spirit" & the professionalism
of its staff & players, along with the sensible supporters, gets the Club
out
of this frightening situation. May God help Atletico - if he can & wishes
to.

VIDEO: IBRAHIMOVIC FREE KICK GOAL AGAINST ZARAGOZA

Due to popular demand, SFS posts the ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC free
kick goal from yesterdays FC Bareclona 6-1 win over Real Zaragoza.
The Swede has already 7 goals in the Spanish Liga. Enjoy this

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 8 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Here are the results, scorers & images of the seven games played
tonight in
Round 8 of "La Liga".

VALENCIA CF travelled to ALMERIA & managed to wrap the game up
after the home team found itself with 10 men in the 63rd min with a
red card to Alves. Valencia won 3-0 with all the goals coming in the
2ºhalf starting with DAVID VILLA (54th m), PABLO HERNANDEZ

(74th min) & JUAN MATA (87th min).

Almeria looked early as if they would go far when Mbami hit the post
in the 11th min, but Valencia took the three points!

VILLAREAL needed a desperate win & managed to get it against last
placed MALAGA with a 2-1 result. NILMAR (above) scored first for
Villareal in the 26th min to see Malaga equalize via LUQUE in the 45th

min. But Villareal maintained calm with their play to go ahead via a
free
kick from CAPDEVILA that sealed things up.

GETAFE won ATHLETIC DE BILBAO 2-0 with disciplined & ordered
play that injects them with confidence. The goals did´nt come until the
60th min when SOLDADO scored, followed by PAREJO who converted
a penalty in the 71st min. Getafe Coach Michael had been questioned &
today managed to shut a few mouths.

OSASUNA will be kicking themselves tonight after allowing RACING DE
SANTANDER
to equalize in extra-time (95th min) when ARANA brought

the house down. Earlier in the 51st min PANDIANI put Osasuna ahead to
see that effort fizz out at the end. Result 1-1 draw

VALLADOLID surprised with a great match DEPORTIVO & won 4-0.
Goals came from ALEMAN with two goals (18th & 46th min),
followed
by COSTA in the 76th & MENDUJANIN in the 88th min.

TENERIFE
managed to get away with the three points after defeating
XEREZ 1-0 in a toughly fought out clash between these lower placed
sides. ALFARO scored the winner in the 74th min.

FC BARCELONA stamped its authority on "La Liga" with a 6-1 victory
over REAL ZARAGOZA. Barça shut the critics after their Champions
League loss to Ribin Kazan last Tuesday in the best way; a demolition
job on Zaragoza.

The man of the match was an outstanding KEITA who scored a HAT-
TRICK
& gave goal passes to the others. IBRAHIMOVIC scored twice
including a great free kick & MESSI got back on the scoring sheet.
For Zaragoza the consolation goal came from JORGE LOPEZ when
everything was already more than settled.

Great win & awesome demonstration of power.

VIDEO OF FERNANDO TORRES GOAL AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED

He´s one of Spanish Football´s favourite sons working overseas, ex
Atletico de Madrid,
Spanish International & now Liverpool FC number
9.
FERNANDO TORRES was fundamental in todays 2-0 victory over
arch rivals Mancheter United. Here is the VIDEO of the goal Fernando
scored to "open the can" :

Babel scored Liverpool´s second goal in the 96th min.

MOTO GP - MALAYSIA 2009: ROSSI WINS NINTH CHAMPIONSHIP & SIMON WINS IN 125CC

SFS congratulates VALENTINO ROSSI for his 9th World Championship
after finishing 3ºrd & ahead of rival Spanish rider Jorge Lorenzo to
give
the Italian an unbeatable lead with only one race left this season.

The "Old Chook" (chicken) laided his ninth "golden egg" as shown on
the
podium while he celebrated.

However, Australian Casey Stoner took the race with Spanish rider
Dani
Pedrosa coming in second.

The 250cc catagory saw Japanese rider Aoyama get closer to the
World title after winning ahead of Spaniard Hector Barbara & Italian
Simoncelli.

250cc - Current World title standings:
1. Aoyama 227pts; 2. Simoncelli 215pts; 3.
Bautista 194pts

In the 125cc catagory, newly crowned World Champion Julian Simon
(above) won ahead
of Smith & Spanish rider Esparago.

NEXT RACE (& last): Valencia SPAIN

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 8 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Three games played tonight in Round 8 of "La Liga" with very little goals
being scored. Here is a brief summary of results, scorers & images.

ATLETICO DE MADRID sacked its Coach Abel yesterday & new Coach
Quique Snachez Flores has a worst team than expected in front of
him. Atletico draw 1-1 against MALLORCA with the latter down to
9 men &
managing to equalize in the last minute.

Atletico played a "shocker". Mallorca lost two men to hand-ball in the

goal area (26th min & 51st min) which received red-cards. Diego
Forlan missed the first penalty but scored the second. It was amazing
to see how
Mallorca with only 9 men put Atletico on the ropes until
VALERO scored
the equalizer in the 91st min.

New Coach has a huge job ahead of him as the team is totally sank,
without
confidence & has the worst defence in the Spanish League.

REAL MADRID travelled to REAL SPORTING GIJÓN & finished leaving
with a 0-0 draw. Sure Higuían, Benzema, Lass Diarra...were missing,
but Real put in their worst game of the season.

Real Sporting played well & kept to their game plan exploiting the Real
weaknesses that nearly paid off with near misses. However, Real
Madrid
are lost, have no order, no game strategy & some worrying
faces on the bench & with their Directives.

The weeks go by, the games come & go, but Real Madrid seem to be
going
backward.Coach Pellegrini is beginning to "sweat" & some ask
how long will
the patience last. The 300M€ investment is currently
having the lowest ROI in Football History & President Florentino Perez
can only hold out for
so long, Real need to solve this; their play &
results.

SEVILLA FC had a chance to cut their distance with Real Madrid but
failed to take advantage against RCD ESPANYOL who played with 10
men in the 2ºhalf managing to finish the match with a 0-0 draw.

Although this finished in a scoreless draw, it was the most entertaining

game of all three played tonight with end to end stuff & a very good &
brave Espanyol being a worthy opponent. Justified result.

REAL MADRID: STEVEN GERRARD ON THEIR AGENDA?

The English paper “The Sun” is not the most reliable source in the
World, however the English side LIVERPOOL FC is not having it most
spectacular season so far in the Premier League. The cited media
source, picked up here locally by “AS”, publish that REAL MADRID
could make a 38-40M€ (or more) offer for STEVEN GERRARD for
next season.

Why not? Steven Gerrard is one of Europe’s great attacking midfielders
with on field personality who may look positively moving to Real
Madrid to finish his career. Add to this the possibility of Coach Pelligrini
finally not convincing & Real Madrid looking at Rafael Benitez as his
substitute because Liverpool decide to end with the latters services.
Imagine, Xavi Alonso, Arbeloa & Gerrard together, it is pure speculation
from SFS part & full of fantasy, but Football changes so quickly anything
is possible. Lastly, Real President Perez & General Manager Valdano have
never hidden their admiration for the English player.

Stay tuned. Meanwhile, Liverpool fans stay calm; this story is pure
rumour & speculation.

REAL MADRID: YOUNG PROMISE JAVIER ACUÑA CALLED UP

Take note of this name, CARLOS JAVIER ACUÑA CABALLERO or
Javier Acuña for his mates, as the 21 year old REAL MADRID B – side
(“Castilla”) player has been called up to the A-team list to play Real
Sporting de Gijón tomorrow in its “Liga” Round 8 match.

(photo: Acuña_as.com)

The youngman arrived to Spain from Paraguay with just 16 years of
age, being a player of Spanish side CADIZ who transferred the player
to Real Madrid for 600,000€ in 2008. The player came to play in First
Division but Cadiz was relegated & thus his Club decided to sell its
young promise.

This forward comes in as both Higuaín & Karim Benzema are injured
& will not travel to Gijón for tomorrow’s game. Real Madrid Coach
Pelligrini has called up Acuña to make up the list & guarantee the
forwards. The Paraguayan may have the opportunity to make his
dream come true tomorrow; to play in the Spanish First Division.

ATLETICO DE MADRID: COACH ABEL SACKED & NEW COACH QUIQUE SANCHEZ FLORES

ATLETICO DE MADRID Coach has been fired. The ex-Coach ABEL
gave a brief press conference at 10.30 to announce the decision
were not questions were allowed.

According to a NEWS flash NOW in "Marca", the new Coach will be
ex-Valencia & ex-Benfica Coach QUIQUE SANCHEZ FLORES.
We will need to wait to get a 100% confirmation but everything
looks like that the said new Coach will be in charge for this
weekends
Mallorca clash in "La Liga"

Just a note from SFS, although Coach Abel had to go, the person who
really needed to be "kicked" out is Football Director Garcia Pitrach,
who is the big problem at the Club. He survives with Coach Abel taking
all the "blame" & being made the "scape-goat". Knowing this incompetant
individual is still at the Club & with responsability it does´nt give SFS
much confidence that things will be totally solve.

EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFIERS 2009-2010: MIXED NIGHT FOR SPANISH TEAMS

Tonight three Spanish Teams have participated in their respective
EUROPA LEAGUE-CUP
(ex UEFA Cup) Group matches with mixed
results.

ATHLETIC DE BILBAO came back from a horror 1ºst half performance
to win 2-1 at home NACIONAL DE MADIERA. The latter started scoring
via MICAEL in the 43rd min. Then the Spaniards changed their play
to take over & score via ETXEBERRIA in the 67th min & FRAN
LLORENTE
in the 86th min with the winner.

Italian team LAZIO won 2-1 VILLAREAL to perpetuate the terrible
start of the season for the Spanish Club which not only have it stiff
in this European competition but are currently at the bottom of the
Spanish League. They lost the game in the very last moment while
playing a draw. Lazio player ZARATE scored in the 19th min
& Villareal player EGUREN equalized in the 40th min. However,
Lazio forward ROCCHI scored the winner in the 92nd min.

VALENCIA CF ended with Villa out on a red card at the end, hitting
posts & being unlucky in their 1-1 draw with SLAVIA PRAGA. The
latter scored first in the 27th min via NAUMOV, to see Valencia get
back & equalize via NAVARRO in the 63rd min. From here Valencia
through everything they had but it wasn’t enough. The Spanish will
be disappointed.

ATLETICO DE MADRID: LAUDRUP SAYS NO, CLUB A REAL MESS

Ex Barça & Real Madrid Danish International player & ex Getafe Coach
MICHAEL LAUDRUP has said NO to an offer from ATLETICO DE
MADRID
to Coach the Team. The news has just come in from “
Marca
& one may understand his disapproval seeing the mess the Spanish
Club is in at this moment.

(photo: Michael Laudrup/marca.com)

But the reason for this post is another & it is to illustrate how little
diplomacy & strategy Football Director Garcia Pitrach has shown, &
illustrates that perhaps he should be the one leaving, along with
current Coach Abel. How can you allow the press to publish that
Michael Laudrup had been made an offer without shutting a YES
100% beforehand? Can you imagen how current Coach Abel must feel
knowing that he now has a definate “death sentence” awaiting to
happen? Will he be motivated to get the team ready for next
weekends Liga match against Mallorca? If I was Coach Abel I would leave
immediately knowing the Club does not have confidence in me. Hey,
perhaps that is what the Directives wish, that Abel resign forfeiting a
pay-out. Either way, what little class.

This is a perfect example of the chaos at the Club, beginning with
Mr.Pitrach & his superiors. There are other names being rumoured
with strong “vibes” from Plan B Quique Sanchez Flores ( ex Valencia
& ex Benfica), plus other options Bernd Schuster ( ex Real Madrid),
Tarim (Turkish Squad), Luis Aragones ( ex Spanish Coach) & a remote
possibility Simeone ( ex At Madrid player now Coach in Argentina).

Stay tuned for developments, as Atletico is in some pretty deep shit
at this moment.

FC BARCELONA & REAL MADRID FOLLOWING BRAZILIAN U-20 "STAR"

The English paper “The Daily Mirror” publish that both FC BARCELONA
& REAL MADRID are seriously following Brazilian U-20 International &
International de Porto Alegre midfielder SANDRO GUIMARAES.

(photo:sport.es)

According to local sports daily “Sport” the player has English Premier
League Clubs also following the talented Brazilian. It is speculated that
the mentioned Spanish Clubs will make their move with season
2010-2011 in mind.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS 2009-2010: REAL MADRID 2 - AC MILAN 3 & CHELSEA FC 4 - ATLETICO DE MADRID 0 (VIDEO GOALS)

Both Spanish Teams tonight did the ridiculous, from Atletico de Madrid
it was expected but Real Madrid gave the image that quite frankly was
of a "disaster". Both teams lost in their respective Group D & Group C
Champions League matches tonight.

Let’s begin with REAL MADRID who allowed a poor & slow AC MILAN
to win 2-3 with serious defensive lapses & unexplained mistakes. To
be honest, this AC Milan side is the “worst” I have seen
for many years, & still they managed to win a Club which has invested
an “astronomical” amount of money to have the “Best Players in The
World”. What is to be said is that the Spaniards had the game
under control up & until the 62th min but for some unexplained reason
they collapsed like a star sinks into itself to become a “Black Hole”.
Real Madrid showed that they haven’t an idea of what they wish to
play, they fail to "ram home" the advantages by not capitalising on their
numerous chances thus allowing the opposition team to rise from the
dead, & in Champions you pay very dearly. SFS would like to say AC
Milan deserved the win, but I can´t as it was handed the victory to
them in a silver plater.

The stars Kaká, Benzema & Alonso also failed to shine, defensive
mistakes – still - & Casillas, what a mistake in the 2º Milan goal. Yes,
Cristiano Ronaldo was missing & was missed, but Real cannot
depend on one player, at this pace they may see all their 2009-2010

proyect & objectives fall apart. SFS is now seriously questioning if
Coach Pellegrini is the right man for the job, serious thinking ahead,
worrying thoughts in mind, tension & frustrations…to end, the result
was the surprise of the whole Champions League round!

Here are all the videos of the goals of this game; the sequence will
explain for itself the whole game & the turn of the tide:

Raul 19th min

Pirlo 62nd min

Pato 66th min

Drenthe 76th min

Pato 87th min

tonight : )

CHELSEA FC defeated as expected ATLETICO DE MADRID 4-0 after
also failing numerous chances in the beginning that could have given
a different & more favourable result. But the Spanish are in “free fall”
& their defence is similar to Swiss cheese, with holes everywhere.

Chelsea player KALOU opened the can in the 40th min, with another
goal by the same player in the 52th min. Then, as any team being
pounded, the English broke the defensive lines to continue the
bombing, starting with LAMPARD with the teams 3rd in the 69th
min to then see how Chelsea´s last & 4th goal came by an own goal
from Atletico defender PEREA.

Atletico can virtually say goodbye to Champions League qualification.

TIZIANO CRUDELI - IF AC MILAN SCORES & WINS TONIGHT?

Imagine if AC Milan scores tonight a goal? More than one goal? If they
Win? Famous Italian Football commenter Tiziano Crudeli may react

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2009-2010: REAL MADRID vs AC MILAN PREVIEW

SFS may have already put up this video in its SFS FLASHBACK section,
however it is worth a repeat as tonight we have a spectacular Real
Madrid vs AC Milan clash in Champions League at the mitical "Santiago
Bernabeu" Stadium in Madrid.

It was 1989; the semi final of the European Cup & AC MILAN won
5-0 REAL MADRID in a game that still has left a deep mark on the
Spanish Club in their recent history.

Real Madrid on paper are favourites tonight, but the Spaniards see this a
trap game”. They do not trust this apparent weaker & low form AC
Milan who may decided to lift itself precisely tonight & give Real a
lesson.

Surf into SFS late tonight for all the details, along with the other
Champions League game Chelsea vs Atletico de Madrid.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS 2009-2010 TUESDAY GAME RESULTS: FC BARCELONA 1 - RUBIN KAZAN 2 & STUTTGART 1 - SEVILLA FC 3 (VIDEO GOALS)

Surprise, surprise as Russian Champion RUBIN KAZAN defeated FC
BARCELONA
at the “Camp Nou” 1-2 with organization, discipline,
counter-attack effectiveness & some luck in their Group F clash.

The Russians scored in the 2ºmin with a RYAZANTSEV (see VIDEO below)
missile that sent “shock-waves” through Barcelona & a message of what
was to come. From here The Russians organized themselves in defence
to accept & withstand the expected Barcelona onslaught in waves of
attacks from here onwards.

FC Barcelona managed to equalize early in the 2ºhalf with a great
goal from IBRAHIMOVIC in the 48th min (see VIDEO below) from a
Xavi pass the settled the Spaniards, but just.

However, the Russian kept to their total game plan & in a deadly
counter-attack KARADENIZ scored his teams second goal in the 73rd
min with a strong strike that rattled the stadium (see VIDEO below):

From here Barcelona tried everything & luck did play its part as
Ibrahimovic hit the post along with Toure, the shots at the Russian
goal swayed away & did not go it, plus the Rubin Kazan keeper played
his part. In fact the last 15 min of the game Barça had 70% of ball
possession but Rubin held out with "tooth & nails" to gain their well
earned victory over the current European Champions.

Barcelona tried but failed as their defence tonight highlighted some
uneasy signs. But the big worry now at Camp Barça is the drastic
drop of form with Leo Messi who since his return with the Argentine
National side has not been the same; worries here at Barça. The Group
now gets interesting as Barça MUST win its next match.

SEVILLA FC travelled to STUTTGART who needed to win in their
Group G match that finished with a 1-3 win to the Spaniards that
practically seals their place for the next phase. However, the Germans
started on-fire with up to 10 chances to score & latter paid the price
for not taking their chances.Stuttgart had Sevilla FC on the ropes until
the 22nd min when Sevilla defender SQUILLACI headed their opener
& from here things drastical turned in the Spaniards favour.

Sevilla took control & then in the 55th min NAVAS grabbed a
goalkeeping error to go two goals up. The Spaniards continued & put
in their 3ºrd in the 72th min again via SQUILLACI who headed
an offside goal that the referee did not see - unlucky for Stuttgart.

Then when least expected the Germans got back with a quick &
brilliant free-kick goal by ELSON that gave them wings & put
Sevilla on the defensive. The Germans attacked in waves but failed
to score, a highlight of their game all night. The Spaniards held out
& won this very important away match.

KARIM BENZEMA IS FRUSTRATED & ANGRY WITH COACH PELLEGRINI...WELCOME TO REAL MADRID & SPANISH FOOTBALL

The Kid – a very appropriate term – has only 21 years of age.
Frenchmen KARIM BENZEMA has jumped from a great Club in France
to historically the “Best Club in The World”; you cannot get higher.
Along with the “career promotion” you come with a 35M€ price tag
& the expectations from half the world to become the next “Golden
Ball” winner in the future. Can you imagine the pressure on the boy?
Add to this you do not speak Spanish, you live in a new City & within
a different culture. Tough for any anyone.

Karim Benzema is currently upset & angry that his Coach has taken
him off in 4 of the 6 games that he has played. He cannot understand
why his Coach Pellegrini puts his confidence on veteran Raul & Higuain
over him when he comes as the new star. The young man has a deep
desire to prove himself & his worth that it is causing him deep anxiety,
frustration & loss of confidence as the goals don’t come as he would
like them .

There are two versions here:

1. The Coaches view, that Benzema hasn’t done enough to sit the
incombustible Raúl &/or hard fighting Higuain on the bench & that
Benzema doesn’t pressure the defence when he loses the ball in
attack. In a nutshell, he still needs to adapt himself to Spanish
Football & the “closed” defensive strategies of the opposing teams
& with more patience. Simply said he must still keep working hard
at it.

2. Alternatively, Raúl could be the problem along with the Coach
Pellegrini. Some say it is time for a generational change…a “new
Real Madrid”…& perhaps Benzema should play by decree to build
up his esteem, confidence & get to know the team. It is a fact that
Benzema, Kaká & Ronaldo have played together very little at once
on the field. How can you build a new team this way? When Raúl
is on the field with Benzema, the former takes Benzema out of his
natural position & pushes him to the wings or makes him go up field
looking for the ball because “unconsciously” the team looks for Raúl.
Add to this Coach Pellegrini substitutes Benzema more often
than not when he should perhaps allow him to stay on to find those
goals that usually come at the end of the games to build confidence.
You now have a young man who has created mental doubts with his
game & thus he gets frustrated; he needs tender loving care from his
Coach.

Both versions have some truths. Benzema should work harder, learn
to defend more, be patient & get adapted to his new environment
(that includes learning to speak Spanish). But Coach Pellegrini
should be more sensitive & build up the "boy" with on field actions
& put some confidence in Benzema. It is true that there is a
“biased” favouring towards Raul, it is understood as it is
a very complex dressing room & Raúl is a 15 year record breaking
Club leyend, but Benzema is the future & you need to start building
it now.

SFS has confidence in Coach Pellegrini, that he is aware &
has a plan set in motion that we “non-professionals” are totally
ignorant. Let’s hope so, because Benzema is a “rough diamond”
waiting to shine & we hope he doesn’t burn himself too early to
leave Real Madrid as a supposed “failure” & later become the
“Golden Ball” winner in some other Football League. There is a
similarity with Chelsea forward Anelka who also went very early
to Real Madrid to latter triumph & score a bag off goals ( still is)
in the Premier League.

ATLETICO DE MADRID: SOMEONE SAVE THE CLUB, NOW!

ATLETICO DE MADRID is crumbling; the top level “battles of
differences in opinions” between the true owner in the shadows,
Miguel Angel Gil & its President Enrique Cerezo has spread its
vile smells down the hall, through the office & into the dressing
rooms. The Football Director Mr. Garcia Pitrach – in charge of
Coaching ,signings, selling & all Football matters – has done a
terrible job & should be dismissed, but he is “protected” by
Miguel Angel Gil, or that’s what is seems from the outside at
least to SFS.

(photo:Aguero looks on as Osasuna demolish/mundodeportivo.com)

Back to Mr. Pitrach. No pre-season signings at all to refresh the squad,
but plenty of loans of young Atletico de Madrid players to other “Liga”
Clubs. As Spanish Sports daily "AS" editor & chief
Alfredo Relaño has
correctly pointed out today in his column, De La Cuevas on loan to
Real Sporting scored two goals yesterday & Diego Costa on loan to
Valladolid shined brilliantly against Real Madrid last Saturday. ¿Why
aren’t they at Atletico
? Both would have come in handy in yesterdays
3-0 loss against Osasuna where it was Sergio Aguero by himself
attempting to fix the damage. Sergio Aguero yesterday was the only
player who can save himself from the ridiculous, tried everything he
could – without help! This is a sure way to convince the player that
the only way to triumph in his carreer is to leave Atletico.

Coach Abel does not get away here either. One had doubts when
last season Abel makes the decision to keep Forlan on the bench in
the decisive Champions League elimination match against Oporto, to
which Atletico lost. Add to this, his on-field tactics of defending results
when the team is in perfect motion to lose the initiative & lose the
game. However, it the defence & its set up that is a true disaster,
it has been for some time, but no one sees a solution. It is the team
that has had more goals scored against them in the Spanish 1º Division.
Then yesterday, Diego Forlan is left on the bench with the argument
that he was tired. As the “AS” editor also points out, Aguero played
the same game & was on the field playing. The Team it seems is
too big for Coach Abel & along with Mr.Pitrach take responsibility
& leave.

(photo: Coach Abel)

There are rumours that the Club is already looking at alternative
Coaches & that President Cerezo is “combating” to convince the
“shareholder/owner” Miguel Angel Gil to approve the termination
of contracts with Mr.Pitrach & Coach Abel. SFS would even go to
speculate that Mr.Pitrach will save his “ass” & sack Coach Abel to
convert the latter in the “scape-goat”: both should leave.

Whatever the true reasons are, being true, half truths or lies of what
has been posted here, the fact is that the Club is heading towards
a disaster & to the 2º Division if it does not correct, fix & sanitize
its internal problems. Some people need to accept responsibility
for their bad management & act accordingly to “save” the Club.
The players are suffering the pressures & the nerves of the
contaminated “atmosphere” which is turning their own fans against
them which in turn is heightening further the tensions.

Someone at the Club please save Atletico, NOW!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009 - 2010 - ROUND 7 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Seven games today from Round 7 of the "Liga" with the following
results, scorers & images.

ATHLETICO DE BILBAO were outplayed by a surprising REAL SPORTING
DE GIJÓN
who shifted up a gear in the 2º half to do the damage. The
end
result was 1-2 with two goals from Sporting player DE LA CUEVAS
in the
65th from a free kick & the 77th min, to see Athletic get a
consolidation
goal via TOQUERO late in the 88th min. Great win for
Sporting as Bilbao
seem to be losing steam in La Liga...

REAL ZARAGOZA will be kicking themselves tonight as RACING DE
SANTANDER
came back from the dead to take & end the match in a
2-2 draw.

Zaragoza had the game in hand with two goals from PAVON &
ARIZMENDI,
but in the 81st min it all went terribly wrong when
TCHITE scored & SERRANO equalized for Racing in the 88th min.
No one at Zaragoza can explain what happened!

REAL MALLORCA
at home are a sure bet as they sweeped aside
GETAFE 3-1 in a deserved victory with clear superiority. The
goals came from ALVAREZ in the 30th & two from ADURIZ
(54th & 71st min) to shut things up for Mallorca. Getafe managed

to get one via ALBIN in the 79th min but it did´nt make-up his
teams bad game today.

RCD ESPANYOL managed to overcome their current internal problems
with outcast ex-Captain Raul Tamudo to win a tough nut TENERIFE
2-1. The visitors scored in the 14th min via ALFARO, but slowly
the home team, through persistence & determination, regained control
with IVAN ALONSO being the key with his 10th min opener & the 60th
min winner to give his side the 3ºpoints.

Big surprise & good win to XEREZ 2-1 over a disappointing VILLAREAL
who went down to 10 men with Pires verbally abusing the referee.
There
are clear signs of frustration at Villareal with their current Coach
Valverde being questioned, they are have a horror start to the season.

It was precisely PIRES that put Villareal ahead in the 17th min, but it
all turned dark & sour from then on with BERMEJO equalizing in the
42thmin & ANTOÑITO getting the winner in the 81st min.

(photo:Xerez celebrate a goal/marca.com)

Nightmare for MALAGA who have yet to win a game & with another
loss after ALMERIA did the damage in the 38th & 40th min with
two quick goals from CISMA from a free kick & another from SORIANO
to which
Malaga could not effectively recover there after.

EDINHO scored for Malaga in the 68th min to give some hope but
it was just a flash. Worrying faces at Malaga who are at the bottom
of the ladder. FINAL RESULT 1-2

Thirty minutes is all it took for OSASUNA to return ATLETICO DE
MADRID
to its "nightmare" of a season with a demolition job that
brought out all the weakness that the Madrid team has to solve: its
midfield & defence.

Osasuna won 3-0 with two goals from PANDIANI (3rd & 26th min)
& ARANDA in the 29th min, goals which brought out the doubts &
mistakes from Atletico to turn into a nervous side.

Pride then - thankfully - took over & Atletico de Madrid reacted in
the
2ºhalf, they even claimed a penalty on Aguero, but that would
not have
changed things the damaged had been done. Atletico missed
so many clear chances to attempt to get back that it was unexplainable.
More black clouds over Atletico, their Cocah Abel is now really on the
chopping block. Excellent win for Osasuna today who deserved
it.
