SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA 2009/2010 - ROUND 8 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Three games played tonight in Round 8 of "La Liga" with very little goals
being scored. Here is a brief summary of results, scorers & images.

ATLETICO DE MADRID sacked its Coach Abel yesterday & new Coach
Quique Snachez Flores has a worst team than expected in front of
him. Atletico draw 1-1 against MALLORCA with the latter down to
9 men &
managing to equalize in the last minute.

Atletico played a "shocker". Mallorca lost two men to hand-ball in the

goal area (26th min & 51st min) which received red-cards. Diego
Forlan missed the first penalty but scored the second. It was amazing
to see how
Mallorca with only 9 men put Atletico on the ropes until
VALERO scored
the equalizer in the 91st min.

New Coach has a huge job ahead of him as the team is totally sank,
without
confidence & has the worst defence in the Spanish League.

REAL MADRID travelled to REAL SPORTING GIJÓN & finished leaving
with a 0-0 draw. Sure Higuían, Benzema, Lass Diarra...were missing,
but Real put in their worst game of the season.

Real Sporting played well & kept to their game plan exploiting the Real
weaknesses that nearly paid off with near misses. However, Real
Madrid
are lost, have no order, no game strategy & some worrying
faces on the bench & with their Directives.

The weeks go by, the games come & go, but Real Madrid seem to be
going
backward.Coach Pellegrini is beginning to "sweat" & some ask
how long will
the patience last. The 300M€ investment is currently
having the lowest ROI in Football History & President Florentino Perez
can only hold out for
so long, Real need to solve this; their play &
results.

SEVILLA FC had a chance to cut their distance with Real Madrid but
failed to take advantage against RCD ESPANYOL who played with 10
men in the 2ºhalf managing to finish the match with a 0-0 draw.

Although this finished in a scoreless draw, it was the most entertaining

game of all three played tonight with end to end stuff & a very good &
brave Espanyol being a worthy opponent. Justified result.

This 0-0 was hailed as a victory for the 'Periquitos', who, as you rightly stated, played with 10 men for most of the 2nd half.

Hopefully we'll extend our 6th "consecutive match without loss" streak against Getafe tomorrow in the Copa del Rey...

Vamos Espanyol !!
