SPANISH SPORTS | SPAIN WINS SKATE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

There is a Sport that is played around the World that does not get the massive media attention of other Sports: Skate Hockey. The reality is that this Sport is dominated absolutely by Spain. Yes, even more than any other Sport, more than Football, Tennis, Motorbikes, Basketball etc.

Yesterday the Spanish National Skate Hockey Team won their 5th World Championship in a row after defeating Argentina in a close 4 - 3 final. However, there is more, Spain has broken a record in the Sport winning its 16th World Championship Title. 

If these guys were in another Sport they would be National heroes with a ticket tape welcome on their arrival home. The more realistic scenario will be arriving home with a greeting & a hug from their loved one & perhaps a "second - level" media source.

From this humble blog, I wanted to give space to let known about their great feat & congratulate them for their World Championship title. They´re all great Sportsman & ambassadors of Spanish Sports that makes the whole country proud.

HANDBALL | SPAIN 35 - DENMARK 19 | SPAIN WORLD CHAMPION

SPANISH SPORTS received a shot in the arm in a spectacular fashion when the Spanish National Handball Team proclaimed themselves 2013 WORLD CHAMPIONS on home turf in the "Palau St Jordi" Stadium of the city of Barcelona.

SPAIN which organized the the Handball World Championships won DENMARK the current European Champions in the final with a crushing 35 - 19 & thus win their second World title, the first being 8 years back (Tunisia 2005).

No one would have believed beforehand that the final would be so one-sided after Denmark crushed Croatia ( which finished third ) in the semi-finals. Spain went in super concentrated & took the Danes by surprise with fierce attacking & with an impenetrable defence, special mention here to adopted Spanish goalie Sterbik (14 saves).

The second half continued the same way with Spain attacking & scoring more gaols while wearing down the moral & strength of the Danes which dropped their shoulders to the reality that they were being overrun, out played & well beaten. Mention here to Spaniard Cañellas for his seven goals.

REAL MADRID 110 YEARS OF FOOTBALL | HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Regular readers will know that my heart in Football ( Soccer ) matters is with Atletico de Madrid. However, here there is no fanatical devotion with the only solid support being to Sports, all Spanish Football & the fans around the World. 

Many millions of those mentioned fans & daily readers of Spanish Football Sports Blog are supporters of Real Madrid. Today the 6th of March of 2012 SPANISH FOOTBALL Club REAL MADRID CF celebrates its 110 years of existence as Football & Sporting institution.

Throughout this long period the Club has been honoured & named by FIFA the "Best Club in World Football of the 20th Century", has won 9 European Cups, 2 UEFA Cups, 31 Spanish League titles, 18 Spanish Cup titles ...along with many others. The Club has also had in its ranks as players World & Spanish Football legends Alfredo Di Stefano, Puskas, Gento, Figo, Zidane, Raul, Ronaldo & now Cristiano Roanldo; just to mention a few names.


To Real Madrid & to all their fans around the World, HAPPY 110 YEAR BIRTHDAY

SPANISH SPORTS | NICO TEROL 125cc GP WORLD CHAMPION

SPANISH SPORTS has a new World Champion. NICO TEROL proclaimed the World Title of the 125 cc MOTO GP category after his nearest rival Johann Zarco retired from the last race of the season falling at the Cheste (Valencia) circuit. This gave & secured the points for the Spaniard who just needed to finish the race

The winner of the 125 cc race was Spaniard Maverick Viñales ( who looks like soon being a future World Champ; sub -World Champ 2011), second was Terol & third another Spaniard Faubel.

SPANISH FOOTBALL FLASHBACK | SPAIN WINS THE FIFA 2010 WORLD CUP A YEAR AGO

Today is exactly 1 year ago when SPANISH FOOTBALL reached its highest level in World Football & Sports history, recognition, prestige & winning its first ever FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. The SPAIN FOOTBALL NATIONAL TEAM defeated 1 - 0 HOLLAND in the FIFA WORLD CUP Final in SOUTH AFRICA thanks to the ANDRES INIESTA extra-time (116 min) goal the 11th of June 2010.

Spain today via all its Sports media is celebrating this first year anniversary , & the full year that the Spanish Football Team has been wearing that World Champions star on its shirt. To remember last years South African World Cup competition along with the various qualifying games & Spain's victory to claim the World Title, this video help will bring back some marvellous memories & strong emotions.

Already a year & how time flys. Here is a tribute to that wonderful historical Spanish team & players who are still doing things right.

SPANISH DEFENDER CARLES PUYOL TO STEP ASIDE FROM THE NATIONAL TEAM

Latest news: Puyol will play against Mexico in August before making a final decision. Spanish Coach Del Bosque is attempting to convince Puyol to reach at least 100 International Caps. I hope he decides to stay.

FC BARCELONA player & Spanish International Central Defender CARLES PUYOL is set to leave, better said, retire from the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM. The 32 year old player wishes to leave at the top of the success story after winning the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP with the National Team. Puyol wants to concentrate his energies in extending his Football career & efforts with Barça & leaving a space open in the Spanish defence for a younger talent. Considered as one of the Worlds Best Defenders, Carles Puyol has a admirable 90 International Caps with Spain & a list of mayor titles that are the envy of most Football players.

Spanish Football Authorities, including Coach Del Bosque, have attempted to change the mind of the FC Barcelona player but according to most Sports media Puyol has already made the decision to step aside. The natural replacement is REAL MADRID defender RAUL ALBIOL who was part of the 23 players list of the newly crowned FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONS. However, there is a long line of aspiring young candidates that will make securing the position left vacant by Puyol & difficult task. Amorebieta (25 yrs, Ath Bilbao), Alexis (25, Valencia), Alvaro Domínguez (21, At.Madrid ), Victor Ruiz (21, Espanyol)…just to mention a few, will be knocking at the door in any future Spanish Team selection list. 2010 FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONS | SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM WELCOMED BY MORE THAN 1.000.000 SPANIARDS

More the 1.000.000 Spaniards & visitors collapsed the city of Madrid celebrating & thanking the new 2010 FIFA World Champions. It was a ticket tape parade that overflowed with joy as the population welcomed back the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM from South Africa. The parade finished with a mini-concert were the team thanked Spain for their unconditioned support.

SPAIN WINS THE 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP | HOLLAND 0 - SPAIN 1 | SPAIN 2010 FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONS

For once justice has been done, Football has won this time with the victory of SPAIN over HOLLAND 0-1 in the Final of the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP. It was rough , tough & at times beyond the rules of the game, with possibly one of the "worst" referees in the tournament. However, with the joy radiating from the body one cannot now begin to point out all the negative aspects of this difficult fought out Final Football match.

This is for all the bad mouths ( they & you know who they are), l guys SPAIN is FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONS. For the rest of us who maintained the faith, what a journey & what a "trip" to get to Football Heaven. The European Champions have reached the Olympus of Football with an extraordinary bunch of players that have created a team above all & with the philosophy of playing "Beautiful Football"

We all know the details of the match. Yes, Holland should have been down to 9 men for some terrible fouls that was part of their tactics to stop Spain. But what about Spanish Captain IKER CASILLAS with 3 vital saves. Absolutely amazing, the Best Goalkeeper in the World.

Ramos, Pique, Puyol, Capdevilla, Busquets, Xabi , Xavi, Pedro, Navas, Villa, Torres, Llorente, Javi Martinez, Silva, Mata, Arbeloa, Valdes, Reina, Marchena, Cesc Fabregas...etc ( sorry if I left someone out)...& ANDRES INIESTA with his 115th min winning goal to give us the World Cup & confirm him as one of the "Best Players In the World". Absolutely F**king amazing! They deserve it.

Tomorrow Madrid expects to receive the World Champions with more than 1.000.000 people in the streets for a ticket tape parade. They are expected to land in Madrid around 15.00 to begin celebrations around 19.00.

I am happy, full of joy & thanks to the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM for making it so!

ATHLETICS: MARTA DOMINGUEZ GIVES SPAIN GOLD IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009

She is possibly one of Spain’s all time best track & field athlete.
MARTA DOMINGUEZ “surprised” most experts to take the WORLD
CHAMPIONS title in the Female 3, 000 m Steeplechase race held
this evening at the Athletic World Championships in Berlin
(Germany).

The 33 year old has been unlucky with injuries at crucial moments
& with bad luck in her long 16 year career, Marta came back into form
this year & culminated her efforts with today’s World title. She
manages to give Spain their only GOLD Medal to date in the Athletic
meeting, plus breaks the Spanish record & puts in the best time
this year. She currently possesses the 3rd Best time in the event
of all time. Well done!
