ATLETICO DE MADRID CELEBRATES EUROPA LEAGUE IN MADRID

Madrid is having plenty of Football street celebrations of late with ATLETICO DE MADRID doing their EUROPA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS homage to the city & all their fans this afternoon-evening. Real Madrid had their glory moment last week, today Atletico de Madrid did their visiting to local authorities, the traditional bus ride & claiming of the "Neptune God Water-Fountain" with Club colours.

Some hundreds of thousands plus fans celebrated with their heroes in the centre of Madrid. While Atletico visited religious & government institutions to be received as Champions. 

The joy , as normal in this case, overflowed from all the players & onto the people on the streets with Club chants & the habitual Football chants & dancing

One of the most cheered was Coach Simeone along with forward Falcao whose future at the Club, believe it or not , is not at all clear. Atletico may not be able to pay his salary if they do not make Champions table positions & Falcao - voted player of the Europa League tournament - has Clubs across Europe knocking at his door.

Whatever happens lets enjoy this especial moment.

TENNIS | RAFAEAL NADAL GOES DOWN TO DJOKOVIC IN MASTERS 1000 MADRID FINAL

Spanish Tennis ace RAFAEL NADAL has gone down 5 - 7 ; 4 - 6 to Serbian NOVAK DJOKOVIC in the Tennis Final of the MASTERS 1000 MADRID. The Serbian continues his unbeatable run of victories which includes defeating Nadal in 3 straight finals this year. The victory today by Novak demonstrates that the Serb has real chances of grabbing the Nº1 spot off Nadal if he continues with his current form & has brushed off the unbeatable on clay aura surrounding Nadal for the last couple of years.

Novak Djokovic wins Madrid Masters 1000

The final was magnificent with Novak beginning very aggressively & taking back Nadal who didn´t expect it. The Spaniard was already down 0 - 4 in the first set until Nadal admirably & as a true Champ fought back,  but could´nt turn the initial advantage around.

Long playing shots, unbelievable psychical efforts by both players & a level that took things to the frontier of the Sport, the second set was a titan tassle that saw Djokovic finally break & he never looked back.

Well deserved victory for the Serb who will now be a sporting menace to Nadal on his favourite court, both personally & psychologically,  that will continue all the year with the French Open around the corner.

We simply saw the next possible Nº1 Tennis player, who was superb tonight.

2010 FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONS | SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM WELCOMED BY MORE THAN 1.000.000 SPANIARDS

More the 1.000.000 Spaniards & visitors collapsed the city of Madrid celebrating & thanking the new 2010 FIFA World Champions. It was a ticket tape parade that overflowed with joy as the population welcomed back the SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAM from South Africa. The parade finished with a mini-concert were the team thanked Spain for their unconditioned support.

TENNIS: RAFAEL NADAL DEFEATS FEDERER IN THE MASTERS MADRID 1000 FINAL

Spanish Tennis ace RAFAEL NADAL managed another "clay court" title with a magnificent win over World Nº1 & the defending champ from last year ROGER FEDERER 6-4 7-6 in the MADRID MASTERS 1000 Final. Nadal overtakes Agassi in Master 1000 title wins & adds to his overall titles now 39, & the 28th now on a clay court. Tomorrow Nadal officially takes the Nº2 World ranking & confirms that he has overcome a "nightmare" year of injuries full of knee & stomach muscle problems. Simply said, Nadal is definately back!

Now the biggest Clay Court Tennis tournament in the World, the French Open, is around the corner & Rafael Nadal goes in full of confidence, favourites & in top form. Tweet

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 TROPHY IN MADRID - SPAIN

UEFA is kindly allowing the citizens of the city of Madrid to have a chance to get real close to the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 Trophy, the same one that will be given to the European Football - Soccer - Club that wins the Final Saturday the 22nd of May at the “Santiago Bernabeu Stadium”. The fact the Stadium is the home ground of Real Madrid & obviously in the city of Madrid, has given UEFA the excuse to promote this fact as you can see by the photo below of the travelling bus:

My wife & I took a stroll down to the “Puerta de Sol” (Centre of Madrid) & waited 40 minutes in line to get finally into the above pictured bus “showroom” & see first hand the 2010 Champions League Cup real close. Here are the photos we took:

The bus will be travelling around Madrid until the 14th of May so that everyone gets an opportunity to see European Club Football’s greatest prize. Also travelling in the same bus – “showroom” – is the female Champions League Trophy, as shown by this photo:

Yes, the picture with the Champions League Trophy is “yours truly” & the lady with the female “Champions League” is “Mrs. Striker”.
