LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 13 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football action today with La Liga Round 13 scheduled matches. Here are all the corresponding final results along with all the goalscorers.

Real Betis Liga Spain

Round 13 kicked-off with the Friday night game between Levante & Real Betis. The final result was a 0 - 1 win to Betis with the 3rd min goal from Ruben Castro. Levante was unlucky & hit the woodwork twice, one a tremendous miss by the Levante forward.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona hosted Real Sociedad & won comfortably 4 - 0. Barça are enjoying their "sweet spot moment" & are basically unstoppable, especially their three players upfront who all scored. Neymar scored twice - 21st & 52nd min -, Luis Suarez in the 40th min & Lionel Messi in the 90th min.

Little more to add, except FC Barcelona is top of La Liga ladder & playing like angels.

At Madrid Liga Spain Soccer

Atletico de Madrid defeated RCD Espanyol 1 - 0 & keeps up pace with Barça sitting in the 2º Liga table spot. The winner & goal was a very early by Griezmann in the 3rd min, while later Atletico came close to scoring again various times but was off target.

The worrying news was Atletico de Madrid midfielder Tiago who was carried off & taken to Hospital. Its a leg bone fracture & the Portuguese player could miss the season.

Soccer Spain

Top match between Malaga FC & Granada which ended in a 2 - 2 draw after the latter made a comeback. Malaga FC was up 2 goals after Charles in the 44th min & Formal in the 58th min steered the game in the hands of Malaga. But a red card to Malaga defender Tissone put Malaga down to 10 men & allowed Granada back in the match. They managed two goals in the late part of the game - El Arabi in the 82nd & Rochina in the 85th min - to get the draw.

Las Palmas 0 - Deportivo A Coruña 2 (Simon own goal 18th min & Lucas Perez 91st min)

Celta de Vigo 2 (Orellana 15th min &  Nolito 83rd min) - Sporting de Gijon 1 (Carlos Castro 68th min)

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULTS | ATLETICO DE MADRID - FC BARCELONA GROUP GAME SCORES

UEFA Champions League tonight for the two remaining Spanish Football Clubs which were scheduled to play their Group games - Atletico de Madrid & FC Barcelona - with each gaining positive results & securing their place in the next stage of the tournament. Here are the final results - scores & all the goalscorers.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2013

Atletico de Madrid won 4 - 0 Austria Vienna & secured the top spot of Group G & into the next stage. The Spanish Football Team continues with its "sweet moment" & it´s the 4th win in Champions League. Excellent Football & play from the beginning to the end that gave few options to the Austrian Team. The goals came in the following order:
  • Miranda 10th min
  • Raul Garcia 25th min
  • Filipe Luis 46 th min
  • Diego Costa 82nd min
The scoreline could have been more for At. Madrid but Diego Costa failed to convert a penalty opportunity after Austria Vienna goalie Linder stopped the shot.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2013

FC Barcelona managed to shake off an "annoying" AC Milan & finally win 3 - 1 in their Group H game. Barça secures their presence in the next stage of the Champions League tournament.

The first half saw Barça dominant as Milan defended & waited in their own half. With this attitude from the Italians it was not too long before the continuing Barça attacks would give their rewards. The first prize came in the 30th min when Milan defender Abate fouled Neymar in the area. Lionel Messi converted the penalty for the first goal of FC Barcelona. Did not take long before the second Barça goal came when Busquets converted a Xavi free kick into a 39th min goal. Then the surprise, right before the end of the 1ºst half a Kaka play ended in an own goal from Barça defender Pique. This was to lift Milan in the second half , bring on Balotteli & look for the equalizer.

The Milan change of mentality in the second half from defensive to attack paid dividends & had Barça on the back foot creating numerous chances of goal. What let Milan down was the lack of effectiveness & finishing that would have lifted the nerves of an already rattled Barça. In Football if you don´t take your chances you pay the price & Barça brought on Cesc Fabregas who gave a pass to Lionel Messi in the 82nd min & broke through the Milan defence to score the third. This took all the wind out of the Milan sails & the match ended 3 -1 for FC Barcelona.

FIFA POWER POLITICS | BLATTER vs CRISTIANO RONALDO | THE REAL STORY

The storm caused by FIFA President Blatter & his comments in reference to the question of who he preferred, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, has been magnified & blown out beyond what simple outside Football observers would have expected. In fact no one knew in Spain that Blatter had spoke at the Oxford University forum until yesterday night. The comments took place on Friday & came to light 3 days later, coinciding "casually" with the release of the FIFA Golden Ball list of 23 candidates... more later

Here is the video & what the FIFA President had to say about Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo:

Yes one can interpret that Mr.Blatter could have been more alert & more politically correct. The surprise is not the negative & disrespectful interpretation from Spanish Sports media, Real Madrid & Cristiano Ronaldo which is understandable, but the trap set-up to which a traditionally fierce "political animal" that the FIFA President is known for fell foot & head into to the glee & the smiles of his enemies.

Mr. Blatter has held with an iron fist power under FIFA for a long time, & one does not do this without kicking heads, plenty of skulls. Those who have "suffered" the powers of Blatter have waited in the dark silently & are now smelling blood to go in for the kill. Cristiano Ronaldo has long felt that he has been badly respected by FIFA not only last Friday & now he has his moment. Real Madrid has felt a serious loss of power in the International Football Community & now has the opportunity to put back their 2 cents worth of "revenge", these & the long list of behind the scene Football, Political, Economic & who knows who personalities that have ambitions to take away the seat of Football power ( & a Billion dollar industry ) from Blatter.

The current FIFA President is "wounded", especially after the Qatar 2022 World Cup allocation which is full of serious accusations of fixing, multi-million "brides" & the acknowledge public mistake voiced by Blatter himself that to play Football under 50 degrees conditions was a mistake & almost suicidal. Will the Qatar & World Investors accept a change? Doubt it? Many feel that the "old man" should move on, people like Michel Platini ( the current UEFA President ) who has his eye on the FIFA seat, also like Spanish Federation President Angel Villar & all the other numerous power hungry enemies from Sporting wear multi-nationals, Economic Institutions & Companies, World Sports Media, Football Clubs, Coaches, Players, Representatives etc & etc of which Mr.Blatter has previously stuck his "Doc Marteens" Boots into their teeth for years.

The Blatter "comments" scenario or the occasion could not be more perfect, on the day of FIFA Golden Ball 23 candidate list release the Oxford University video hits Spanish media & the Cristiano Roanldo ignition sparks fire. The immediate reaction which is perfectly acceptable was a back-lash from Spanish media calling for blood, a letter from Real Madrid calling that Blatter retract his words, a letter from the Portuguese Football Federation which took it to national levels, Real Madrid Coach Ancelotti defending his player ( what else could he do ),  a letter from Cristiano Roanldo representative Jorge Mendes calling for respect & Cristiano Ronaldo himself via his Facebook saying:

The reaction from Mr.Blatter was immediate saying that he was taken out of context & perhaps he was a bit too loose in behaviour & words. The FIFA President has asked for apologies & that he has the maximum respect for Ronaldo who is an exceptional player.

The FIFA President, the most "powerful man in World Football"  has had to say sorry for words he pronounced to a "simple" question at an Oxford University Forum. Why? Because Blatter is no longer as powerful as we ( he ) once thought, the man has surprisingly ( & perhaps unknowingly ) given reasons & arms to his long list of enemies waiting to "knock off the King". We may be witnessing the last months / year of reign for Mr.Blatter. However I am sure the "one man" will not go out the exit door without firing his guns & last bullets. Cristiano Ronaldo may have kissed away his possible chances for this years Golden Ball Award, its a real possibility, not to mention Spain losing in the upcoming Brazil World Cup...Real Madrid losing the Champions League???
Nahhh , not possible, right?

But Cristiano Ronaldo ( & Spain ) in the arena of World Football & "dirty politics" are just  instruments & not really important, a means to an end. Taking a Shakespearian line..."There is something smelly in Zurich".

Stay tuned for future developments.
