SPAIN EURO CUP 2008 CHAMPIONS - FOOTBALL WINS OVER PRAGMATISM (SEE VIDEOS)

SPAIN is still shining in happiness as the below 11 players gave the
nation the 2008 European Championship title, along with subs.
Cazorla,
Xavi Alonso & Dani Guiza - plus the rest of the squad - after defeating
GERMANY 0-1 in the final.

What can SFS say that has not been already been said? The only
things that comes to SFS mind is that the best team won - which
does not always happen - & that the "ideal" of Football won over
strategy & pragmatism.

EURO 2008 has given Spain & World Football the birth of a new
generation of young & Internationally experienced players that
will give plenty of happiness in the upcoming future. This squad will
be
the nucleus of the future Spanish National squads that will now
face the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, 6 begin the difficult road
to the South African World Cup 2010.

It was the goal from Liverpool Fc forward FERNANDO TORRES
in the 33rd min that put Spain in front & was enough to give Spain
the final & the Championship. Here is the video of the goal incase you
missed it:

FERNANDO TORRES
was voted MAN OF THE MATCH & DAVID
VILLA won the Goal scorer of Euro 2008 with his 4 goals

Here is the VIDEO of more highlights & Spain picking up its medals
& the Cup ( Lets
hope YouTube does´nt remove the clip after Uefa
solicitation, if so SFS will find another):

EURO 2008: SPAIN CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE AFTER DEFEATING GERMANY 0-1 IN THE FINAL.

SPAIN has proclaimed itself the CHAMPION of the EUROPEAN
NATIONS CUP
44 years after winning the title the first time. The
Spaniards defeated GERMANY 0-1 to remain the only team
undefeated throughout the whole tournament & win the Silver Cup.

SFS has its fingers twitching & finding it hard to type this gran news
as the joy is overflowing after waiting so long to live this Football
experience. Spain deserves to have won the game, & the tournament ,
as
this young generation of Spanish Footballers played the best
Football of Europe.

Captain CASILLAS is pictured with the coverted Cup that has
prized poetic Football. It was all team spirit & classical Football
of touch, patience, skill & determination that brings the Cup to
Spain & awards the "Spanish method" of play.

The moment was in the 33rd min when FERNANDO TORRES
beat defender Lahm from a Xavi pass & then beat the German
goalkeeper to score the only & winning goal of the game. Before
this moment Torres had touched the post with a header & Spain
had experienced numerous chances that deserved better.

Below is the image of celebration & of team spirit that was the key
to winning the European Title.

Germany were worthly opponents, tough, strong & stubborn to
put in a brilliant effort. However, the ball won over strenght &
pure board tactics. Spain tired the Germans making them run
after the ball & then exploited the defensive gaps. It was magical
Football by the Spaniards as it dazzled at certain moments,
although as expected, they also suffered from the German waves
of
attacks in the last 15ºmins.

Spain now has a young team with experience that will serve as the
nucleus for future competitions, that may take them higher in the
coming years, its up to them.

In conclusion, this is mind-blowing for SFS & simply cannot
continue further. Tomorrow once calmed SFS will give greater
coverage.

EURO 2008 FINAL: SPAIN SUMMONDS THE SPIRIT OF 1964

In was 44 years ago that SPAIN won the European Nations Cup
(1964) against Russia, with an extraordinary team full of talent:

Iríbar; Rivilla, Olivella, Zoco, Calleja; Fusté, Suárez; Amancio,
Pereda, Marcelino y Lapetra.

Below you can see an image of that team celebrating its 2-1 victory,
& with the coverted Silver Cup in their hands.

Today, 20.45 at Vienna (Austria) & against the mighty GERMANY,
SPAIN has a chance to repeat & place their hands on the prized
Silver Cup if they manage to defeat the Germans in the final of
the European Nations Cups of 2008.

The team is different this time around obviously (from left to right;
top to bottom):

Casillas, Marchena, Capdevila, S.Ramos, Senna, F.Torres, D.Silva,
Iniesta, C.Fabregas, Xavi & Puyol ;
but just as talented & eager to write a page in Football history. Let´s
hope the same spirit that hoovered with the Spanish side of 1964 is
present with the 2008 National team tonight. Let´s scream from Spain,
"GO BOYS...& GOOD LUCK" & may your (our) dreams come true.

REAL MADRID NEWS 2008: ROBINHO & HIS FUTURE

According to Spanish daily "AS" English Premier League Club
CHELSEA FC has made a 35M€ offer to REAL MADRID for its

young Brazilian International ROBINHO. New coach Scolari sees
Robinho as an importnant piece in his new plans & has solicitated

the player personally to Chelsea owner Abramovich.

However, Real Madrid has placed the price at 45M€ as Robinho
could be part of the "Ronaldo Operation". If so, his real destination
could be Manchester United & not to Chelsea as Robinho could be the
key for Cristiano Ronaldo to land in Madrid.

Lots of external factors operating in Robinho´s future, if Ronaldo

cannot finally go over to Madrid, Robinho is more than likely to stay
at Real because coach Schuster considers the player as a basic piece

in his new proyect, its Real President Calderon that is willing to
"sacrifice" Robinho to finance his ultimate dream; to get Cristiano
over to Madrid.

EURO 2008 FINAL : SPAIN vs GERMANY - NEWS & PREVIEW

Both SPAIN & GERMANY have finished their final training session,
& news from Germany is that it may face tomorrows final without

its Captain, & from Spain that Cesc Fabragas will fill the place of
injuried David Villa.

German Captain MICHAEL BALLACK is suffering a right leg
injury that may leave him out of tomorrows final. Ballack will have

an exam tomorrow just before the match to see if his injury can
stand the full 90ºminutes of play. If he fails, it will be a huge loss
for the Germans.

SFS thinks that Ballack will finally play & that this is just a "cat

& mouse" tactic.

A dangerman that Spain should be wary off is German PODOLSKI
who can equal, or get ahead of David Villa as the tournaments
leading scorer. Very dangerous & quick that Ramos & Puyol must
neutralize during the whole match.

Tomorrow is also the stage & the moment for FERNANDO TORRES

to stamp his authority upfront & show why he is one of the Worlds
leading forwards. Has not had much luck till now & tomorrow will be

ideal to score some goals & turn things around.

It is virtually assured, unless there is a last minute change, that
CESC FABRAGAS will start & fill in the place left by injuried
David Villa. It´s his moment & he can show the World why many
consider the youngster destined to be a true World Football
Star. No doubt his partipation will add skill & danger around the

goal square area.

Here is the Spanish starting line-up for tomorrows final:

Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevila, Senna, Xavi,Iniesta,
Silva, Cesc Fabregas & Torres

EURO 2008 FINAL PREVIEWS - SPAIN vs GERMANY

There are some real good clips out there that show lots of hours of
work & dedication. SFS has chosen 3º clips that it wishes to share with
its readers & thus joining in with the warm-up of what will be an
exciting clash tomorrow. Here are the three clips:

MOTO GP - HOLLAND - BAUTISTA WINS 250CC & PEDROSA REGAINS WORLD TITLE LEADERSHIP IN GP

It´s not all Football for Spain, as today Spanish MotoGP riders flew
the flag high in all catagories of the Dutch MotoGP races.

Spaniard ALVARO BAUTISTA finally shook off his bad luck &
won in the 250cc catagory. He came in ahead of Luthi & M.
Simoncelli.

The provisional World Title table in 250cc stands as follows:

1. Kallio 140pts; 2. Simoncelli 139pts; 3. A.Debón (Sp) 114pts

In the GP catagory DANI PEDROSA came in 2ºnd placed behind the
winner Australian Casey Stoner & ahead of 3ºrd placed Colin Edwards.
The second place for Pedrosa gave the Spaniard 20ºvaluable points to

give him the lead in the provisonal World Title Table.

Italian Valentino Rossi fell in the 3ºrd lap & managed to get back on track

but finished way behind.

Provisional World Title Standings:
1. Pedrosa 171pts; Rossi 167pts; 3.Stoner 142pts

In the 125cc catagory Talmacsi finish first ahead of Spaniard Olivé who

following:

NEXT RACE : German MotoGP

SPAIN : FINAL EURO 2008 - ITS CESC FABREGAS MOMENT

The injury of Spanish forward & current leading Goal scorer at
EURO 2008 David Villa, has ruled him out of next Sundays Final

against Germany, barring a "miracle" or a strategic plan from
the Spainish coach.

The chosen player to fill that vital gap is rumoured to be Arsenal
player CESC FABREGAS who took on the role in the semifinal to

put in a brilliant performance & make look that Villa´s injury
did not make any difference. In fact he was fundamental in Spain´s
2º goal & part of the chain in the others.

The young midfield star has been habitually 1ºsubstitute in the
Spanish Squad due to the overflowing talent of midfielders
currently blessing Spain ( Senna, Iniesta, Silva, Xavi, Xavi Alonso,
Carzola...) & on Sunday he is more than likely to be in the starting

line up. If so, it´s his moment, it´s his opportunity to add the cherry
on the cake of Spain´s Euro 2008 performance & consolidate
himself in the elite of World Football.

Enourmous pressure, but this 21 year old is already a mature player
& his tremendous talent will shine in this difficult situation. It´s an

opportunity that most players would give both legs to be in, it´s
simply going to be his crunch time.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TRANSFER BRIEFS 2008: GUIZA & HENRIQUE

The Spanish League Top Goal Scorer (27 goals) & European
Silver Boot, DANI GUIZA, has a pre-agreement with Turkish
team FENERBACHE. The Turks are willing to side-step the Spaniards
actual Club MALLORCA & directly pay his contract release clause of
15M€, but the money has not been seen & this opens up possibilties.

His EURO 2008 performance has attracted the interest of
MANCHESTER CITY, TOTTENHAM & AC ROMA & the players

representaive is already in discussions as the Turks fail to materialize
their promise & the money.

FC BARCELONA has shut a transfer deal with Brazilian Club
PALMEIRES for its 21 year old International HENRIQUE
(pictured below). The defender cost 10M€ & has signned for
the next 5 years.

EURO 2008: SPAIN DAZZLE THE WORLD OF FOOTBALL - THE KEYS (SEE VIDEO 0-3 AGAINST RUSSIA)

SFS is not one to indulge in praising any particualar player,
club, coach or National side. It wishes to stay neutral - as
humanly possible - , but SPAINs 2º half performance
yesterday against Russia was sublime. Here is a quick run
through the main KEYS that have opened the doors for Spain
at Euro 2008:

THE FOOTBALL "JEDI"- Luis Aragones, the Spanish
National Team Coach has managed to form a solid team,
balanced with experience, youth, talent, hard workers &
more importantly a team with a winning mentality.

SPANISH NATIONAL TEAM
- (photo: vs Russia semifinals):
Has shaken off the cobb-webs of history & historical "curses"
to manage to captivate the World with a style of Football that
many
thought had disappeared. They have brought the art
back & the beauty into the Sport. They are proving to be an
example of what a team & its spirit should be.

IKER CASILLAS - Goalkeeper & Captain: So young yet
so mature. Leading this team & pushing himself into the Nº1
Spot as the Worlds
Best Goalkeeper, by hard work & by his
performance. Inspirational. His two penalty saves against
Italy in the Q/Finals were crucial to get his team where it is.

CARLES PUYOL
- Central Defender: Along with
Marchena, a rock in defence illustrating anticipation,
speed, determination & leadership. SFS pick as the Best
Defender at Euro 2008
.

MARCOS SENNA - Defensive Midfielder: The bridge
between the defence & the attack. Solid, reliable, consistent
& a sure bet when his fellow midfield teammates are out of
place.

XAVI HERNANDEZ - Midfielder: He is the music that the
team dances to during the games. Skill, touch, vision, attack
& goal. He,
along with Iniesta control the ball, the midfield
& the games.

CESC FABREGAS - Creative Midfielder: A team can only
have 11 players & has been 1ºst substitute up till now.
However, his participation & play have been fundamental to
get Spain into the
Euro 2008 final. The injury to David Villa
will give him a place in the starting line up next Sunday.
There is no doubt in SFS mind that this youngman is destined
to be a World Star ( he already is) & a Midfield reference -
Brilliant!

DAVID SILVA - Forward/Winger: If you did not know about
this youngster, now you do. The "revelation" of Euro 2008 &
destined for greatness. A total team player, speed, skill,
sacrifice & goal. Outstanding, what a future!

TEAM SPIRIT: THE KEY, this mental state makes the
impossible
possible, makes dreams reality & the limited
unlimited. An example of how Sport can lift the human spirit.
By the way, hardly no Yellow
Cards & NO Red Cards
throughout the tournament - The example of FAIR PLAY.

Watch the Video of yesterdays 0-3 semifinal victory.
Goodluck in the final against Germany on Sunday, what
ever the result Spain are already Champions!

EURO 2008: SPAIN DEMOLISH RUSSIA 0-3 WITH FOOTBALL OF THE HIGHEST LEVEL

SPAIN has defeated RUSSIA 0-3 in the 2º semifinal of EURO
2008 & will meet Germany in Sundays final. It was a whitewash
of total Football in the 2ºhalf that ripped apart the Russian in

an extraordinary exhibition never seen before during the whole
tournament. Spain showed the World how Football can be an art &
romantic, putting the cynical fan back in his box. In a few words, its

was beauty & poetry that left us all without words.

The 1ºst half was even as both teams tested each other out under the
pouring rain. Spain gave us all the first fright as David Villa was
taken
off injuried around the 30th min & it brought doubts into
everyone´s minds. But his substitute Cesc Fabregas was to show us
that the team has depth & that Cesc is a World Class player later

on with a superb performance.

But it was to be the whole 2ºhalf that was to show us all that this
Spanish team is at this moment above all others & is playing
Football at the highest level.

XAVI HERNANDEZ ( above) who was playing great & controlling
the midfield scored Spains first goal in the 50th min to get things
rolling. The Russians lost control & it was waves upon waves of
Spanish attacks that threathened to open up the Russians more.

Coach Luis Aragones then made a double change : Torres & Xavi
for Guiza & Xavi Alonso, that was to keep the team fresh &
strenghten the midfield & keep control of the ball.

It paid off as DANI GUIZA ( above) scored the 2ºgoal in the
73rd min to secure even further the game for Spain. It was then
all ball control & precision passing that buffled the Russians as
they could not get the ball. It was simply Football at its highest
expression that had fans on both sides & the World with their
months wide open: total midfield dominance & "Real" Football.

The show continued when the brilliant SILVA was rewarded
for all his work, when Fabregas put in a great pass that Silva
put into the net for Spains 3ºrd & final goal.

Names to mention: Sergio Ramos, back to his old self; Puyol
& Marchena, the former the central defender of the tournament;
Iniesta, back in the right moment & simply brilliant; Senna,
outstanding as the midfield wall... the whole team was brilliant.

This puts Spain as hot favourites against Germany in the final,
lets hope that they can put in this level again. They must remain
humble & have respect for the Germans, but they too will be
aware of tonights performance.

Conclusion: tonight was Magic! Tonight we all experienced why
we love Football, it was absolutely beautiful.

EURO 2008: SPAIN TWO STEPS FROM GLORY, BUT FIRST RUSSIA

SPAIN plays RUSSIA tonight in the 2º semi-final of Euro 2008,
to attempt to qualify for the fianl & meet Germany next Sunday.
Spain will start with the
same 11 players that coach Aragones has
placed his trust on in every
game so far up to this point (see team
picture below) & defeated the Russians 4-1 in their first Group D

game. We all know that tonight the Russians will be a more tough
affair than the opening Group D game.

Two names to look out for & that could be determinant are
Russian ARSHAVIN & Spaniard DAVID VILLA. However, in these

types of games & at this stage of the competition, more than hoping
on individual talent, the deciding factor will be team play.

Most "football experts" ( everyone watching the game tonight on TV)

believe it´s going be a "counter-attack" strategy game from both sides.
What´s obvious is that who ever scores first will be able to settle down

quickly & put its mind on the objective more easily. The key could be
here!

Good luck to both side & may the better team win.

Surf into SFS late tonight for the result & images.

SPANISH FOOTBALL TRANSFER NEWS & RUMOURS 2008: ATLETICO DE MADRID & FC BARCELONA

According to all the local papers, ATLETICO DE MADRID has
signned RECREATIVO DE HUELVA French forward SINAMA
PONGOLLE. He joins the other signnings John Heitinga, Tomás
Ujfalusi & Gregory Coupet, & may form part of the Atletico forward

line with Sergio Aguero & Diego Forlan.

According to "Marca" & "AS" the Frenchmen will be loaned for 1º

year to either Racing of Santander or Benfica, if Zaragoza Brazilian
forward Ricardo Oliveira decides to accept the Atletico offer to be

their 3º forward, something that up till now Oliveira has said NO.

If "Marca" is associated as the news daily connected to Real Madrid,
"Sport" is for FC Barcelona. News from "Sport" today gives us this

lovely picture (below) of the forward line that Barça wants for the
next season. It is said that coach Guardiola wants Russian ARSHAVIN
& Arsenal´s ADEBAYOR to accompany Messi upfront. Wishful
thinking?

What about Thierry Henry, does´nt he count?

According to "Sport", FC Barcelona has advanced in talks with
ZENIT for the transfer of ARSHAVIN with a price around 15M€,
which is hard to believe, if he is the "revelation" of Euro 2008.
English club Arsenal is competing hard to get the player as well.

On the other front the ADEBAYOR operation is turning sour & is´nt
progressing as originally thought with numerous obstacules being
encontrered. It is not an open & shut case!

Sports Daily = FC Barcelona = upcoming Club Presidential elections?
Looks like its building up illusions time for Barça electing club members.

FC BARCELONA PRESENTS ITS NEW UNIFORM FOR THE 2008/2009 SEASON

The marketing machine at FC BARCELONA is back & running for
the new upcoming season 2008/2009. The Club has presented
today its new uniform, which goes back to the format of the 100th
anniversary look ( in the centre of the picture) & the away outfit
takes on the yellow colour with a Barça coloured strip from top to

bottom.

If your a "die hard" Barça fan, you will probably be tempted to
race out to your local Football merchandising store & pick up the
new look outfit. It´s only around 80€, but you´ll be the envie of the
crowd, or at least you´ll be comforted to know your contributing to
the wallets & cashboxes of your favourite Club.

AN ALTERNATIVE VIEW OF THE REAL MADRID - CRISTIANO RONALDO OPERATION

It´s natural, if your a Manchester Utd, FC Barcelona or any Real
Madrid rival, the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo going to Madrid
will be seen as something "evil", "dark" & even with "envie". Real
Madrid
is one of the few , if not the only, clubs in the World of Football
that can offer between 85-100M€ for just one player
& not blink.

Here is the Catalan & some Barcelona humour from "Mundo Deportivo"
& its cartoon section, "Pelotazos" by KAP. A very sinister Real Madrid
President , Calderon is depicted, lets remember FC Barcelona also made
an offer for the Portugues star in the past.

ATLETICO DE MADRID TRANSFER NEWS & RUMOUR 2008

ATLETICO DE MADRID
has announced that they intend to

make 2 or 3 more signnings for the new season. With this statement,
Spanish daily "AS" publish that Atletico will return to the charge

to lure WERDER BREMEN & Brazilian International midfielder
DIEGO.

Atletico understand that it will be a difficult endeavour, however
the previous main competitors Real Madrid (concentrated with
Cristiano Ronaldo), FC Barcelona ( already signned Alves, Keita,
Caceres...), Arsenal (Nasri), Juventus (after Xavi Alonso) &
Chelsea FC (after Deco), have opened up the doors & raised

possibilities.

The transfer price is around 30M€, but Atletico hope to bring it
down to around 20-25M€ if they can advance in talks.

According to "Mundo Deportivo" another Brazilian has been linked
with ATLETICO DE MADRID, midfielder JULIO BAPTISTA from
REAL MADRID. Apparently, the midfielder is liked at Atletico & both
Real & Atletico have been talking since the end of the season. The price

is rumoured to be close to 15M€ which makes it viable for Atletico.

However, Baptista is not keen on leaving Real Madrid - who is - & may

block the idea altogether. Stay tuned!

*Thanks to "Mundo Deportivo" for the club header.

SPAIN EURO 2008 NEWS: ARAGONES STAYS WITH TRUSTED 11 AGAINST RUSSIA

It looked like coach Aragones may leave out Senna & Villa for the
semi-final against Russia. But he cleared doubts today in Spains
training session when he handed out the starting team vests. It

was the same trust 11 players that have started from the first
game of Euro 2008.

The team is tipped to be:

Casillas, Ramos, Puyol, Marchena, Capdevila, Senna, Xavi, Iniesta,
Silva, Torres & Villa,

the same team that defeated Russia in their Group D starter 4-1.
However, we expected that it won´t be the "same" Russian team this
time around.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS SEE DAVID VILLA AS AN OPTION

English Premier League Club TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS along
with its Spanish coach Juande Ramos consider Spanish International
& VALENCIA CF forward DAVID VILLA as the ideal option to

cover the departure of its striker Berbatov. According to English paper
"Sunday Mirror", Tottenham is willing to pay a 25M€ transfer fee to
get Villa over to London.

However, there are serious difficulties in the wished process
& strategy of Tottenham. Firstly, the market price for Villa is
closer to 40 & even 50M€, specially after his current Euro 2008
performance. Secondly, the player has already rejected a higher offer
from Chelsea FC because he does´nt wish to leave Spain. Thirdly,
his club Valencia CF has announced that they will not sale their

forward. Lastly, if Villa was to leave Valencia it would be for either
Real Madrid or FC Barcelona, with the former said to already be

tempting the forward.

What is the only fact about this story is that, if your not willing to put
your money where your mouth is, your going to get nowhere fast.
If Tottenham wishes 1ºst line & World class players they are going

to have to bet hard & risk economically. Other sounded stars like
Samuel Eto´o & Ronaldinho have already rejected Tottenham offers,

because they´re just not enough & there is no real foundation to a solid
long term proyect with guarantees to lure them.

SPAIN EURO 2008 NEWS BRIEFS

Just some quick news bits concerning the Spanish National Football
side as it gears up for its semi-final clash against Russia this Thursday

in EURO 2008.

For the curious & the"uniform" fetish fan, SPAIN will dress for the
first time in official competition its GOLD uniform as seen in the
image below, against Russia. Let´s hope it gives them luck.

The other news comes out of "elmundo.com", were it mentions that
Spanish coach Luis Aragones is debating if his team starts with David
Villa & Senna next Thursday. It is said that he has in mind starting with
Cesc Fabregas & Xavi Alonso in their place. The "tiredness factor" is

in his head & may incline to put on "fresh" legs in this vital match
against Russia.

¿Is Aragones throwing a "wobbly", trying to confuse the opposition?
Stay tuned!

SEVILLA FC TRANSFER NEWS 2008: ROMARIC SIGNS FOR 5 YEARS

SEVILLA FC has its substitute for Keita who has signned for
FC Barcelona, it´s Ivory Coast International & LENS midfielder

NDRI ROMARIC (pictured below).

The midfielder has signned for 5 years & has cost the Spanish
club around 8 M€, according to "As" & "Marca".

EURO 2008 Q/FINAL: SPAIN 4 - ITALY 2 - NAIL BITTER IN PENALTIES (SEE VIDEO)

At last SPAIN has shaken off history & a very tough opponent
ITALY in the most dramatic way possible, in the penalty shoot

out that went Spain´s way with a final 4-2 scoreline.

The heroe was Spanish goalkeeper & Captain IKER CASILLAS
who
stopped two goals to help guide his team to victory & into next
Thursdays Semi-Final against Russia.

Spain was superior throughout the whole game, with penalties not

called, posts & near misses that gave the feeling that luck would
again not smile favourbly on the Spaniards. After 90 minutes the
0-0 draw forced the extra-time that finished without goals & the
game went into the feared penalties.

But this time luck & justice would smile Spain´s way after Casillas

stopped two penalties, & cancelled out the Dani Guiza failed attempt
stopped by Buffon. Cesc Fabregas was the man in charge to score
the decider & give Spain the victory.

Great match from the whole team overall, their best match to
date, with special mentions for SILVA ( above), SENNA, VILLA
& the defenders MARCHENA &
PUYOL

The man of the match was voted IKER CASILLAS who apart
from the penalties made some decisive saves throughout the
game. Iker now stands along with Buffon as the best goalkeepers
in the World after tonights performance.

Now next step Russia, next Thursday in the semi-final.

See Video of penalty shoot-out:
