SPANISH SPORTS | RAFAEL NADAL CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 2º US OPEN TITLE

With the time difference between New York & Madrid - 6 hours - many Spaniards were in bed sleeping when Spanish Tennis Player Rafael Nadal was lifting his second US OPEN Tennis title after defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the the Final. Its the 60 title for Nadal & his 13th Grand Slam, the victory closes the gap on the Nº1 ranking position placing Nadal just 120 points behind Djokovic.

US OPEN 2013

The Spanish Tennis ace acknowledged that it was a difficult & a hard worked match, commenting that Djokovic always takes him to his Tennis limits. A victory the was emotional for Rafael Nadal who last year was contemplating retiring if he could not overcome his serious knee injuries. But this title was another cherry to his personal Tennis season cake as he has been unbeatable on fast surface.

There is not much more to say about the match as I was in deep sleep & did not watch the game being beamed on pay TV in Spain. What I do know is that the 3rd set & the incredible comeback from a possible break by Nadal seemed to psychologically hit hard Djokovic & opened up the decisive 4th set for the Spaniard.

All I wish to do here is to dedicate a post today to Spain's "Greatest Sportsman of all Time" with only 27 years of age. An extraordinary Sportsman & Tennis player along with being an example to all of us as a person.

If the knees of Nadal hold out we could be installed for more great finals & games, encounters with Djokovic & more Tennis Titles. Congratulation Rafael Nadal, your an example & a reference for Spanish Sports & all Spaniards.

SPANISH SPORTS | RAFAEL NADAL TAKES FRENCH OPEN RECORD EIGHT STRAIGHT WIN

First man ever in the history of the French Open to win the title 8 times in a row, & for that matter a Grand Slam tournament 8 times in a row. Spanish Sportsman & Tennis player Rafael Nadal defeated another Spaniard David Ferrer 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 in the 2013 French Open Final.

Emotional win for Nadal who has gone through a "personal hell" with knee injury that had him off the circuit for months. In fact, Nadal doubted at times if he could once again find his top form or if his injuries would force him prematurely to retire.

Amazing comeback this season with 8 straight finals ( 7 wins ) to jump into the record books & once again serve as an example to all people on how one can overcome difficulties if they believe.

Greatest Spanish Sportsman in History & a Tennis legend at 27 years of age. The man has still years of great Tennis ahead - if no injuries come into play - & his next objective will be Wimbledon

Spanish Sports Tennis 2013

Congratulations Rafael Nadal once again, thank you for being the perfect Spanish Sports ambassador & Champion. Also congratulations to runner-up Spaniard David Ferrer for his great Tennis & for being another grand ambassador of Spanish Tennis & Sports.

SPANISH TENNIS | RAFAEL NADAL WINS INDIAN WELLS MASTERS 1000

Spanish Sportsman & greatest Spanish Tennis Player in History Rafael Nadal has gained his third Masters 1000 Indian Wells title after defeating Argentine ace Juan Martin Del Potro 6-4, 3 - 6, 6 - 4. The Spaniard in gaining this title jumps up the World Ranking to the N º 4 position after 7 months out recovering from a near career ending problem with his knees.

Spanish Sports

See-saw stuff with both players at their limit, were perhaps the mental strength of Nadal tipped the difference in the third set in his favour. Nadal came to Indian Wells to test his knees on hard surface & needed an opponent of the class & calibre of Del Potro to benchmark his recovery. The final result was an end to a long suffering road were it was day to day objectives to get back into the circuit, back into form & back into the winning ways.

Rafael Nadal will not not go onto Florida for the 2º Masters 1000 as he wishes to rest his knees & not risk as he puts his mind forward onto the European clay court circuit where he historically has been unbeatable.

Spanish Sports

This is his 600 victory as a professional, his 52nd title & the player with most Masters 1000 with 22, which puts him ahead Federer (21), Agassi (17) & Djokovic (13).

Spanish Tennis needed Rafa back as did World Tennis. The man has suffered during theses last 7 months & today's victory must be emotional. Rafael will be back in competition in Montecarlo on clay.

Welcome back Champ!

RAFAEL NADAL WINS HIS 7TH FRENCH OPEN | PLUS MAKES HISTORY

This post is old news almost 6 hours later. Impossible to post on time as I was earning a living at my employment & blogging is not my function during working hours. However a post that definitely needs to go up independently of the time as it is a Historical event for Spanish Tennis & for Spanish Sports.

Spaniard Tennis ace RAFAEL NADAL won a record straight 7th FRENCH OPEN title this afternoon 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 World Nº 1 Novak Djorkovic in the Final. A final interrupted by rain yesterday that was replayed & continued today.

Spanish Sports
Rafael Nadal

This victory puts the 26 year old Spaniard in the History books of the French Open & World Tennis after surpassing Bjorn Borg to become the Tennis player who has most won this prestigious "Gran Slam" clay court tournament. Apart it converts Nadal as the "Best Tennis Player in its History" on a clay court.

The biggest & Best Spanish Sportsman in the History of Spain there is no doubt & an example for all to follow with his attitude, humility, extraordinary talent & ways.

Congratulations Rafa! From here thanks,  you make us all proud.

RAFAEL NADAL WINS HIS SIXTH ROMA MASTERS 1000 TITLE

Playing on a Monday at 12.00 makes it difficult for the working folk ( myself included ) to watch a great Final of Tennis. That was the case for the ROMA MASTERS 1000 Mens Final between NOVAK DJOKOVIC & Spaniard RAFAEL NADAL as it was delayed from Sunday due to the bad weather.

Rafael Nadal wins his sixth Roma Masters 1000

Spanish Sports & Tennis got a great boost with the news that Nadal shook off the "Djokovic Finals Boogy" & managed to defeat the Serb in 2 hours & 21 mins with a 7-5 6-3 final score. Yes, Djokovic had a bad day & made plenty of mistakes but Nadal managed to get the psychological edge,  played great & of course was playing on his favourite surface which is clay .

The victory gives Nadal his sixth Roma title & puts him back into the Nº2 World Ranking position, plus it gives the Spaniard a boost for the upcoming Roland Garros Tournament.

Congratulations Champ!

SPANISH TENNIS | NADAL WINS CONDE GODO 2012

Spanish World Nº2 ranked Tennis player RAFAEL NADAL added another title to his long list when he defeated fellow Spaniard DAVID FERRER 7-6 7-5 in the Final of the Conde Godo tournament in Barcelona. It was the 7th consecutive title for Nadal on his favourite surface, clay, which adds more weight to his legendary status on the mentioned surface. Nadal nothced his 34th victory on clay, 6 behind another great the Austrian Tomas Muster with 40 wins & 11 away from the Argentine Guillermo Vilas.

SPANISH TENNIS
Rafael Nadal Conde Godo 2012

The victory was not easy for Nadal & it took more than 2 hours to manage to win a fiery & super competitive David Ferrer which had Rafa on the ropes on various occasions. As we have all become accustomed to, it was the "fighting" spirit of Nadal that managed to pull the player out of awkward situations & onto the victory. Congrats to both players for a great exhibition of clay court tennis.

TENNIS | RAFAEL NADAL LOSES TO DJOKOVIC IN THE WIMBLEDON 2011 FINAL

Tennis
Spanish Sportsman & Tennis ace RAFAEL NADAL was defeated this afternoon in the Final of WIMBLEDON 2011 by Serbian & new World Tennis Nº 1 ranked player NOVAK DJOKOVIC 6 - 4, 6 - 1, 1- 6 , 6- 3. Djokovic wins his first ever Wimbledon Tournament & defeats Nadal for the 5th straight time in a final. The Serb is having a superb season which kicked off with the Australian Open & has basically won evrything ( except Roland Garros ) ever since.

Tennis
Novak Djokovic wins Wimbledon 2011

Rafael Nadal was fairly beaten today by a greater & more efficient Djokovic in what turned into a "complicate" game for the Spanish ace. Lots of unforced errors & a more aggresive opponent put Nadal against the ropes after the first two sets went to the Serb. As one could expect, Nadal fought back admirably & as a true Champ in true grit fashion to take the third set & at least open a door to a possible come-back opportunity. However, Djokovic has improved inmensely in mental concentration & with his game to secure the tight situations & made sure that this Wimbledon title opprtunity would not get away.

Spanish Sports
Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic will wake up tomorrow realising that it is all not a dream but a reality holding his Wimbledon Trophy firm in his hands & the World Nº 1 ranking. A well deserved prize for a very talented Tennis player, who has worked extremely hard & will no doubt win many more future titles.

Rafael Nadal will now get some well earned rest, transfer some of the pressure off his shoulders & onto Djokovic,  & prepare for the next big challenge & battle that will be the US Open where he defends the title & may meet again his rival Djovokic.

SPANISH SPORTS | RAFAEL NADAL WINS HIS SIXTH FRENCH OPEN TENNIS TITLE

SPANISH SPORTS received another glorious historical moment this afternoon thanks to an extraordinary Spanish Sportsman. Spaniard & World Nº1 Tennis player RAFAEL NADAL won his 6th FRENCH OPEN title after defeating ROGER FEDERER 7-5, 7-6,5-7,6-1 in the 2011 Final in Paris France. The 25 year old Rafael Nadal equals the record feat of Bjorn Borg with six French Open titles,  & no one doubts that the Spaniard canfor nada surpass this record mark in the future.

Tennis
Rafael Nadal with his 6th French Open

The road to the title has been difficult & hard worked for Nadal who came into this tournament with 4 straight Final defeats in the previous tournaments to rival Serb Novak Djokovic, in less than optimum form & with psychological doubts with his play. The response to all this has been an extraordinary effort to surpass himself in all aspects that once again highlights that we all are witnesses to a great Champion.

Tennis
Nadal & Federer 2011 French Open Final

The game started totally in Federer favour with an aggressive start that caught Nadal cold, off guard & in doubts. The perseverance of the Spaniard allowed the him to came back from  a 2 - 5 situation to take the first set 7 - 5. This was a key moment of the match & a psychological blow that Federer did not fully recover from totally although the Master came back in waves to show us some grand Tennis. The 3rd set was perhaps the Swiss best moment making a remarkable comeback from 2 - 4 to take the set 5 - 7. However, Rafael Nadal regained composure & kept his mind on the work still ahead to calm his nerves to breeze through the 4th s& winning set to become a French Open Tennis legend with his 6th title.

I have run out of words to describe both these gallant Sportsmen & Tennis players, but I choke to find more superlatives to add for Rafael Nadal. Without any doubt at all, Rafael Nadal is Spains greatest Sportsman in its History , & the man has only 25 years of age with more titles to win before he calls an end to his Tennis career.

TENNIS | NOVAK DJORKOVIC DEFEATS RAFAEAL NADAL IN FINAL OF MASTERS 1000 INDIAN WELLS

Spanish Tennis World Nº1 Tennis player RAFEAL NADAL could not manage to defeat a magnificent & strong NOVAK DJOKOVIC in the final of the MASTERS 1000 INDIAN WELLS Tennis Tournament. The Serb went from less to more taking Nadal to three sets & winning 6 - 4, 3 - 6 , 2 - 6  as the Spaniard experienced a radical drop in play & form after losing the second set. Djokovic finally manages to defeat Nadal in a final & break the "3 set" rule that said if taken to this number of sets Nadal always wins.

Spanish Tennis
Rafael Nadal

The Spanish ace started on fire & took the first set relatively easily. The second set witnessed how the Serb got back slowly into the match frustrating the Spaniard into unusual unforced errors that lead to the loss of the set for Nadal. The third was for the confident & finely tuned Djokovic who overrun a radically different , lost & lethargic Rafael Nadal taking the set , the match & title.

Novak Djorkovic is currently at his best Tennis level after winning the this years Australian Open & will be a serious candidate  & threat in the upcoming European clay court circuit where there is no doubt he will again meet Nadal to fight out for more titles.

TENNIS 2010 | ROGER FEDERER DEFEATS RAFAEL NADAL FOR HIS FIFTH MASTERS

It just could not be, Spanish Tennis World Nº1 & ace RAFAEL NADAL was defeated by ROGER FEDERER 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in a very convincing victory for the now five time MASTER of MASTERS.

Rafael Nadal laments a miss shot

It was the first time in his career that Nadal had reached the ATP MASTERS Final (London) & his chance were good beforehand after majestically defeating Andy Murray in the semi-finals. However, the effort & the exhaustive performance took its toll on Nadal 24 hours later as he lacked spring, reflexes & freshness in his game.

The 1st set saw Federer break Nadal mid-way through with powerful serving & precision shots that tested the reflexes of the Spaniard. But Nadal is a natural born fighter & took his chance when Federer loosed up just enough to give Nadal a glimpse of hope to which he broke Federer & equalled things taking the 2ºset. The 3º set was champagne Tennis from Federer who broke Nadal early & never looked back.

Roger Federer wins ATP Masters 2010.

Roger Federer won with an almost perfect performance that overwhelmed a tired Nadal & showed why he is considered the "Greatest Tennis player in History" to notch up his 5th Masters & finish off the year on the highest note. Nadal will be relatively pleased to have reached the final & no doubt we all will be seeing him back next year once again attempting to win the title that keeps alluding him to date. Congratulations to both!

TENNIS : RAFAEL NADAL DEFEATS DJOKOVIC IN 4 SETS TO WIN THE 2010 US OPEN

Many of us here in Spain have woken up this morning to read the best news to open a new day. That Spanish Tennis player RAFAEL NADAL finally managed to finish his rain interrupted match against Novak Djokovic in the Final of the 2010 US OPEN with a 6-4 5-7 6-4 6-2 victory.

The 24 year old World Nº1 Tennis Player becames a Tennis Legend to join the select group of Tennis players - seven - who have won all four Grand Slam titles. The US Open was the last & resisting competition that Rafael Nadal needed & he won it this morning (Sp time) in a convincing fashion.

The US Open Final was cancelled last Sunday by rain & was interrupted again yesterday by rain when Nadal was firing & ahead 6- 4 , 4-4. After the break Djokovic came out aggressive & took the 2º set 5-7, but Nadal regained his concentration & manage to win back the intiative the 3ºset & then won the 4ºset for victory. The match was not easy & was solidly fought out by Novak with more than three & a half hours of Tennis.

Historical victory for Spanish Tennis & for Spanish Sports as Rafael Nadal, in my opinion, continues demostarting that he is the "Greatest Spanish Sportman in HIstory". Said this, with 24 years of age there is still a big margen for more titles & more fabulous days of Tennis joy.

The US Open victory is his 9th Glam Slam Title & curiously becomes the first player ever to win 3 Grand Slam titles in a row ( French Open , Wimbeldon & US Open) on 3 different surfaces.

Rafael Nadal is currently 7th in the Historical Grand Slam rankings & no doubt will be climbing the table in the coming years:

1. Roger Federer (SWI): 16 (4 AUS, 1 RG, 6 WIM, 5 US)
2. Pete Sampras (USA): 14 (2 AUS, 7 WIM, 5 US)
3. Roy Emerson (AUS): 12 (6 AUS, 2 RG, 2 WIM, 2 US)
4. Rod Laver (AUS): 11 (3 AUS, 2 RG, 4 WIM, 2 US)
+. Bjorn Borg (SWE): 11 (6 RG, 5 WIM)
6. Bill Tilden (USA): 10 (3 WIM, 7 US)
7. Rafael Nadal (SP): 9 (1 AUS, 5 RG, 2 WIM, 1 US)
8. Andre Agassi (EEUU): 8 (4 AUS, 1 RG, 1 WIM, 2 US)
+. Fred Perry (UK): 8 (1 AUS, 1 RG, 3 WIM, 3 US)
+. Jimmy Connors (USA): 8 (1 AUS, 2 WIM, 5 US)
+. Ken Rosewall (AUS): 8 (4 AUS, 2 RG, 2 US)
+. Ivan Lendl (CH REP): 8 (2 AUS, 3 RG, 3 US)

TENNIS | RAFAEL NADAL WINS WIMBLEDON 2010

World Tennis Nº1 & Spaniard RAFAEL NADAL has won his second WIMBLEDON Championship title after defeating in straight sets 3-6, 5-7, 4-6 Thomas Berdych. The Spaniard played a serious & very disciplined match grinding down his opponent with his solid play. The player has been in exceptional form all year winning all the clay court titles & now the prestigious green surface tournament.

It´s the 8ºth Grand Slam Title for Rafael Nadal ( 5 French Open, 2 Wimbledon, 1 Australian Open) who joins other Tennis leyends like Connors, Agassi & Lendl, & Nadal has only 24 years of age.

Now the Tennis player will take a break to concentrate on the only Grand Slam title that still eludes him to date: the US Open. The idea is to give his tired knees a rest & practice with the already objetive solidly in mind.

SPANISH SPORTS | TENNIS RAFAEL NADAL WINS HIS 5TH FRENCH OPEN | SPANISH RIDERS HIGH IN MOTO GP

Great & outstanding weekend for SPANISH SPORTS in two areas were Spanish Sportsman are traditionally strong: Clay-court Tennis & Motogp racing.

Spanish Tennis ace & World Nº1 , as of tomorrow, RAFAEL NADAL won his 5th FRENCH OPEN after defeating 6-4 6-2 6-4 Swede Robin Soderling. The Spaniard regains all the lost ground after suffrering a terrible year with injuries that showed by his tears of joy straight after winning the Final. The Tennis Champ commented the media after the game that this was his most emotional victory.

Rafael Nadal has won all the "clay-court" tournaments this season which apart from being extraordinary to say the least, confirms him as the "Best Tennis Player" on the surface. He now travels to London & changes surface for grass as he prepares for the Wimbledon tournament with his new Nº1 World Tennis ranking.

In MOTO GP celebrated in Italy today Spanish riders again had a fabulous day with wins & excellent positions in all catagories. The absence of Italian Champion Valentino Rossi was dearly felt & the track felt a loss of presence that from here we wish him a speedy & tranquil recovery.

In the MotoGP catagory Spanish rider DANI PEDROSA won from the start with Spanish rider Jorge Lorenzo second followed by Italian Dovizioso third. JORGE LORENZO maintains his top spot in the classification & is favourite to take the World title this season although today was not his day & Pedrosa put himself up as a potential candidate.

The current MotoGp World Championship table stands as follows:
1. J.Lorenzo 90pts; 2. D.Pedrosa 65pts; 3. Rossi 61pts

In MOTO2 Italian IANNONE broke the Spanish dominance with a grand race that had Spaniard GADEA second & CORSI third. Spaniard TONI ELIAS who had a bad race still maintains himself Nº1 in the current World Moto2 standing with 75 pts with a healthy gap over second placed Japanese rider Tomizawa.

In the 125cc catagory Spanish riders dominanted taking the all 3 Top positions : MARQUEZ, TEROL & ESPARAGO. This follows basically the trend in the current World championship table also dominanted by Spanish riders with 1. Terol 85pts; 2.Esparagó 79pts; 3. Marquez 57pts.

Next race : British GP

TENNIS: SPAIN SECURES DAVIS CUP 2010 VICTORY OVER SWITZERLAND

DAVID FERRER (pictured) guaranteed SPAIN its DAVIS CUP victory over SWITZERLAND after defeating Stanislav Wawrainka 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 in a vital 4ºth game taking the overall score to 3-1 in Spain´s favour. This takes Spain onto the Quarter Finals were they will meet France on the 9-11 July.

The tie against Switzerland complicated itself for the current Davis Cup holders when Wawrinka won last Friday the first match against Almagro. David Ferrer then won the 2º game for Spain & with the Doubles on Saturday going Spain´s way as well. The 4ºth game victory was vital as it avoided a draw result & the need to play it all in the last 5ºth match.

Todays defeat over Switzerland takes Spain on & break the straight wins on home "soil" record previously held by USA with 18 ties. Spain now accumulates a 19 straight victory streak on home turf.

SPAIN WINS BACK TO BACK ( & 4TH) DAVIS CUP 2009 OVER THE CZECH REP.

SPAIN wins back to back DAVIS CUP titles tonight after FELICIANO
LOPEZ

to give Spain a 3-0 lead, with 2 singles games still to be played
tomorrow.

The Czech team put up a grand fight & were great opponents as they
pushed
Spain to their best level in order to win. Yesterday Rafeal
Nadal

Spain a 2-0 coming into todays deciding
doubles game.

This is Spain 4th Davis Cup title & puts it Nº1 in the World Tennis
Rankings. Congratulations from SFS!

TENNIS: RAFAEL NADAL ELIMINATED FROM THE 2009 FRENCH OPEN

Nothing lasts forever, it’s an Iron Law of Life, & it applies equally
in Sports & their human “gods”. World Nº1 Tennis ranked player &
Spaniard RAFAEL NADAL was convincingly eliminated from the
FRENCH OPEN this afternoon by Swede Nº25 World ranked player
ROBIN SODERLING 6-2, 7-6, 4-6, 6-7.

The Swede used his two main weapons – the “riffle” serve &
forehand – to sweep Nadal off the pitch & end any hopes of a 5th
straight French Open title. Although the Spaniard fought till the
end as a Champion this defeat will serve Nadal as an event to
reflect on & help maintain his feet on the ground. The Spaniard
can continue working on this game to make it even more perfect
& further solid. There is no doubt that Nadal will bounce back &
have Wimbledon as his next objective. The young man is destined
to do great things in Tennis & this is just a hiccup - although
important.

TENNIS: RAFAEL NADAL WINS ROME MASTERS IN TWO SETS

Another historic moment & Tennis game for Spanish World Nº1
RAFAEL NADAL after he become the first ever player to win 4
ROME MASTERS 1000 titles. The Spaniard defeated Nº3 Serbian
DOVAK DJOKOVIC in two sets in the Final this afternoon: 7-6 &
6-2.

Nadal continues to be invincible on the clay surface & has a superior
edge in the "pyschological" area as he plays his best when he is under
most
pressure. This wears down his opponents as they "struggle" to
find alternatives in their game which leads to unforced
errors from
there part.

During the trophy presentation Djokovic, due to the presenter &
public demand, did his "comic" interpretation of Rafael Nadal which
brought good humoured smiles from the Spanish Nº1. Now its a
weeks
break at home & later off to Paris to attempt to add another
French Open title to his
already long list at the age of 22 years.
