REAL MADRID SHUTS DE GEA - NAVAS TO MANCHESTER UNITED

With only hours available before the "Transfer Market" shuts at midnight, Spanish Football Club Real Madrid is close to shutting a transfer deal with Manchester United for their Spanish International goalkeeper David De Gea

Latest from local media is that a deal has been struck between Clubs with some details still to be tied. The transfer price is speculated to be around 30M€, while current Real Madrid goalie Keylor Navas enters the operation (valued at around 12-15€) to substitute De Gea at Manchester United.

Real Madrid 2015

The initial problem was that Keylor Navas did not wish to move & go to United. However, the English Club has offered to double his salary (to around 5-6M€) & basically assure him a starting place on the team. This has apparently soften up Navas & his position to finally accept the change of Clubs. Navas knows that there is no room for him & De Gea competing for the one goalkeeper position, & that the arrival of De Gea would lead him to spend bench time, something Navas wishes to avoid at all costs.

From a personal view, the best option would have been to wait a further year to have De Gea arrive to Real Madrid free of transfer fee, however Real Madrid gave De Gea their word for this season & the Club wishes to keep it. The problem is De Gea comes terribly below form & will need time to adapt, added with the huge pressure on the young mans shoulders to live up to the expectations. Keylor Navas has left a good impression at the Club & with fans & his shoes will be hard to fill initially.

It is expected an official Clubs announcement in coming hours. Better to read that it is all official as anything can still happen. Stay tuned!

Latest : As warned above the De Gea - Navas transfer made an unexpected turn late tonight. Due to the late arrival of the transfer documentation of both Clubs at the Spanish Liga Headquarters, the De Gea operation (for now... barring UEFA-FIFA intervention) WILL NOT GO THROUGH. Said differently, the needed documentation arrived pass the 00.00 deadline thus keeping DE GEA at Manchester United & Keylor Navas at Real Madrid. Comical or tragic there has been a mix-up, or not, with the whole operation.

Therefore, De Gea - if nothing changes - will stay one more season at Manchester United & arrive FREE next season to Real Madrid. Thanks to Van Gaal Manchester United has lost out on 30M€ which will possibly make shareholders at the Club somewhat angry. Manchester United claim they sent documentation to Madrid before the 00.00 deadline & that Real Madrid failed to place papers at Liga HQ before 00.00

More details in coming days.

LA LIGA | SUNDAY ROUND 2 GAMES FINAL RESULTS

Spanish Liga Round 2 continued today with the scheduled Sunday matches. Here are all the final results along with all the goalscorers.

Spanish Liga 2015-2016

Relative surprise result at Eibar which defeated Athletic Club Bilbao 2 - 0. Excellent effort from the home team which went ahead early when Bilbao defender Laporte fouled Enrich in the goal square. The consequent penalty was transformed by Berjon in the 33rd min. The second goal came in the 61st min through Adrian Gonzalez.

Other "related" news is that Athletic Club & Atletico de Madrid are negotiating the transfer of the latter midfield player Raul Garcia.

La Liga Spain Soccer 2015-2016

Deportivo A Coruña travelled to Valencia CF to leave with a deserved 1 - 1 result. A very serious Deportivo team which was tactically well placed & spirited. They went ahead first in the 39th min through Lucas Perez, but Negredo managed to score for Valencia & draw in the 45th min.

Thereafter, punch for punch with chances created by both sides but neither being able to pull off a final knock-out punch. Shared points!

Spain Soccer Liga

Sevilla FC hosted Atletico de Madrid & was harshly punished with a 0 - 3 loss. The result does not transmit the brave & enormous physical effort in the 2º half that Sevilla put in trying to find the equalizer. Atletico was under siege most of the 2º half but managed to hold out Sevilla, in itself a merit to be mentioned.

The first half was for Atletico de Madrid which eventually took over, controlled & scored through Koke in the 35th min. However as mentioned, the 2º half was another story & Sevilla FC deserved at least the draw. But during a late change Jackson Martinez for Torres, Atletico Captain Gabi shot & got a deflection to score in the 79th min. Mayor moral blow for Sevilla which was later punished again by a third goal in the 84th min when Jackson Martinez scored a superb goal from outside the box.

Win to the visitors & the 3 points to Atletico.  Sevilla tonight felt how Football can be cruel sometimes.

Las Palmas 0 - Levante 0

Getafe 1 (Latifa 80m)  - Granada 2 (El-Arabi 27m Success 29m)

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL | ROUND 2 SATURDAY MATCH RESULTS

Spanish Football action this weekend with Round 2 of La Liga matches. Here are all the Saturday games final results along with all the goalscorers.

Villarreal CF

The Round 2 opener was the Friday Night match between Villarreal & RCD Espanyol. The final result & the 3 points went to the home side 3 - 1 with a 2º half comeback with new signing Roberto Soldado starring.

Espanyol got ahead first with an early 4th min goal from Caicedo. However, Villarreal took advantage of the lack of finishing endeavour from the visitors & slowly pulled their game back together. In the 66th min Roberto Soldado pulled a quick shot out of the bag to score & lifted moral. Later in the 86th min Soldado passed to Bakambu who equalized, to later score again with the winner in the 93rd min. Two vital goals from Bakambu & inspirational Soldado for Villarreal.

La Liga 2015-2016

Real Sociedad hosted this afternoon Real Sporting de Gijon with the home team putting from the start returning "home" midfielder Asier Illaramendi from Real Madrid. The final result a 0 - 0 draw in a game that saw both teams work hard but create very little goal opportunities.

Spanish Football La Liga 2015-2016

FC Barcelona hosted Malaga FC with Brazilian star Neymar back after sickness to boost the forward line. The final result was a worked 1 - 0 victory for Barça with a 74th min goal by defender Vermaelen after he hooked onto a loose ball that Malaga goalie Kameni could not hold from a Suarez shot.

Malaga stood firm all match & neutralized the Barça efforts at goal. However, the continuous advances by Barça finally managed to crack the Malaga tactical stance for the 3 points.

La Liga 2015

Celta de Vigo defeated Madrid club Rayo Vallecano 3 - 0 with the latter down to 10 men from the 9th min. From that red card given to Rayo goalie Toño came the first of two goals from Celta forward Nolito in the 11th min. The second goal from Nolito came in the 50th minute & Celta managed to control the match till the end even scoring a third goal through Fontas in the 90th min.

spanish liga 2015

Real Madrid defeated Real Betis 5 - 0 & left aside the debate about the teams lack of goals this season. James Rodriguez & Benzema started from the beginning & both gave the team more flow & punch upfront & were protagonists. Gareth Bale was also active & was also under the spotlight himself scoring, while Cristiano Ronaldo still was unlucky facing goal even though he had plenty of chances. Lastly, Keylor Navas sent a message over to Directives as he put in a great match, including stopping a 2º half penalty!

The goalscorers were:
  • Gareth Bale (header) 2nd min
  • James Rodriguez (free-kick) 38th min
  • Karim Benzema (header) 47th min
  • James Rodriguez (overhead) 49th min
  • Gareth Bale (outside the box - 20 mts - shot) 88th min
Sergio Ramos hit the post with an overhead 76th min!

Good performance overall by Real Madrid which looks like getting the pieces back in order.

SPAIN LIST FOR UPCOMING EURO 2016 QUALIFIERS

Spanish National Football Team Selector & Coach Vicente del Bosque handed in his list of 23 players for the upcoming Euro 2016 Group qualifiers. Spain plays in the Spanish city of Oviedo Slovakia the 5th of September, to then travel to play Macedonia on the 8th of September.

Vital match against Slovakia where Spain is currently second in the Group behind them & needs a victory to take the top spot & with it the direct access into the Euro 2016 finals.

Some local Football observers have been surprised that Del Bosque has not called up Athletic Club Bilbao forward Aduriz. However, his 34 years of age could be his handicap as the Spanish Coach prefers to bet on young & the future.

Spanish Football Team

Full list of 23 players to represent Spain:

Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, David De Gea, Sergio Rico
Defenders: Juanfran, Azpilicueta, Pique, Sergio Ramos, Bartra, Jordi Alba, Bernat
Midfielders: Koke, Busquets, Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas, iniesta, Isco, Silva, Mata

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP TEAMS MATCH-UPS 2015-2016

The Champions League Groups for season 2015-2016 have been drawn with the following results for the five Spanish Football Clubs competing:

Champions League 2015-2016 Groups

Group A: Real Madrid with Paris St Germain, Shakhtar & Malmo,

Group C: Atletico de Madrid with Benfica, Galatasaray & Astana,

Group D: Sevilla FC with Juventus FC, Manchester City FC & Borussia Monchengladbach,

Group E: FC Barcelona with Bayern Leverkusen, Roma & Bate Borisov,

Group H: Valencia CF with Zenit, O.Lyon & Gent.

Beforehand, Sevilla FC seems to have fallen into the most difficult Group along with Real Madrid which faces PSG. However, as always mentioned, at this level all Clubs are dangerous & have the potential to shake the believed favourites.

Lastly, as expected FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi was awarded the "UEFA Best Player of The Year 2014-2015" ahead of the other candidates Luis Suarez (FC Barcelona) & Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid). This fully deserved award puts Lionel Messi on course towards his 5th FIFA Golden Ball Award which will be announced in January 2016.

FERNANDO LLORENTE TO SEVILLA FC

After weeks of speculation, Spanish & Juventus FC forward Fernando Llorente returns to Spanish Football. Spanish press has announced that Sevilla FC will be the new home of Llorente for the next three seasons after a 10M€ transfer deal (other sources say that his transfer is at zero cost ) with the Italian Club according to Italian media. The terms of payment is delaying the official Club announcement but everyone takes it as a formality & a done deal.

Sevilla FC get themselves a top notch forward to replace Carlos Bacca who signed for AC Milan.

Goes to Sevilla FC 2015

Said the above, Sevilla FC & Juventus FC are also talking about the possibility of Chilean International Mauricio Isla landing in Sevilla. A difficult prospect but apparently open & possible that we will have to wait & see. Stay tuned!

VALENCIA CF QUALIFIES FOR UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2015 - 2016

Important night & final result for Spanish Football Club Valencia CF which suffered against Monaco to get themselves qualified for the UEFA Champions League season 2015 - 2016. The final result tonight of the 2º leg return match was 2 - 1 for Monaco but Valencia CF qualified & won the tie with a 3 - 4 aggregate.

Valencia CF 2015

The only goal for Valencia CF came early in the 4th min when Alvaro Negredo pulled a perfect chip shot that gave his team a valuable away goal. After this it was a punch for punch situation with Monaco slowly grinding themselves back into the match.

Monaco equalized in the 18th min through Raggi & later went ahead in the 74th min through Elderson which opened up the possibility of taking things into extra-time. However, Valencia CF held out with tooth & nails to qualify & win the overall tie.

The Valencia CF victory is also historical for Spanish Football, they join FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico de Madrid & Sevilla FC in Champions League, thus putting into the maximum European Football competition 5 Spanish Football Clubs.

Big celebrations tonight throughout the city of Valencia.

REAL MADRID TRANSFERS UPDATE

Hi guys, been out this weekend with the family so I have not given a summary post of Round 1 of La Liga. You can however catch up with the widget on the right hand side of the blog: matches, scoreline, scores & ladder positions.

Now back, here is a post on the current Real Madrid signing & transfers situation.

Real Madrid 2015

Leaves it clear to everyone that the Frenchman will not be moving.

The David De Gea situation is in stalemate.

Midfielder Asier Illaramendi looks like he will return to Real Sociedad for around 10M€ plus "variables". English Club Liverpool FC & Italian club Juventus are said to be also interested in the Real Madrid player, but Real Sociedad seems to be in the front seat. Stay tuned!

Lastly, young Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev is said to be heading to Valencia CF. Real Madrid & Valencia CF are apparently in talks after Valencia CF player Feghouli may head over to Turkish Football. If so, Valencia think Cheryshev would make the ideal substitute. Stay tuned!

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA CALENDAR - FIXTURE SEASON 2015 - 2016

Yesterday two modifications to the Spanish Football Liga calendar - round fixture for 2015 - 2016 were announced. The season gets shorten by a week so that the Spain National Football Team can prepare better for the upcoming Euro 2016 in France, thanks to the fact that a Round has been scheduled in the Christmas period.

La Liga will have matches scheduled the 30th & 31st of December 2015, an initiative that follows English Football, while allowing the chance for more children to attend the games.

FC BARCELONA WINGER PEDRO ABOUT TO SIGN FOR CHELSEA FC

Looks as if  Spanish International & FC Barcelona winger PEDRO Rodriguez has decided to practice his trade in the English Premier League. Straight after Manchester United apparently withdrew their interest, Chelsea FC quickly stepped in & voice theirs.

Chelsea FC signing

Current news is that Pedro is now in London shutting a deal with Chelsea FC & undergoing the obligatory medical exam. News sources speculated that transfer price is 28M€ plus 2M€ in variables.

Hard decision taken by the Barça player who has been sidelined ever since Neymar & Luis Suarez claimed a regular spot in the Barça team. The Spanish winger wants minutes & regular play while he puts his sights towards the upcoming European Championships with Spain in 2016.

Pedro will be in good company at Chelsea with Cesc, Diego Costa, Azpilicueta & to a less extent Courtois.

Good luck to Pedro. A fine quality signing for Chelsea FC.

ATHLETIC CLUB BILBAO WINS SPANISH SUPER CUP 2015

Spanish Football Club Athletic Club Bilbao won the Spanish SuperCup after drawing 1 - 1 with FC Barcelona tonight, while finishing the home & away tie with a 5 - 1 aggregate result. The last main title Bilbao won was way back in 1984 & tonight the Club & the Basque Region city are celebrating.

Spanish Super Cup 2015

FC Barcelona attempted from the beginning to turn things around looking for early goals & thus try to score 4 goals to equal the tie. The 1º st half was virtually a one way street with Barça attacking & Athletic Club defending. The visitors did well stopping advances, staying coordinated limiting spaces & keeping on top of dangerous Barça players like Suarez, Pedro & Messi. It needed the vision of Ratikic to find Suarez who chessed down onto Messi for the Argentine to open the scoreline in the 44th min & keep the Barça hopes alive.

The 2º half looked as if Barça would continue were they left off but a red card to Gerard Pique in the 57th min (complaining to the linesman) left FC Barcelona with 10 men. This gave Bilbao an advantage with more space upfront to exploit.

Surprisingly Barça reacted aggressively to the situation & played better creating chances, however a terrible defensive mistake in the 74th min "gave" the ball to Bilbao striker Aduriz who equalized with a second attempt that blew the wind out of the Barça sails. The endeavour of scoring 4 goals in 15 mins was too much for Barça. Frustrations grew & things got rugged with Bilbao substitute Kike Sola receiving a red card for a hard tackle on Mascherano. On the replay it should have been only a yellow.

FC Barcelona paid dearly for the first leg away 4 - 0 defeat at Bilbao, while the latter worked hard & well tonight to keep things tight & under control.

SERGIO RAMOS RENEWS WITH REAL MADRID UNTIL 2020

All the huff & puff between Real Madrid & defender Sergio Ramos formally ended this afternoon when the Spanish Football Club rolled out the red carpet to officially announce to media the contract renovation of Ramos.

Captain Sergio Ramos renews with Real Madrid until 2020 with a season salary of between 9 - 10M€ (some say 9M€ & anothers 10M€). The Real Madrid Captain played his cards in a long & hard negotiation that included the "threat" of taking a supposed Manchester United offer.

Renews contract till 2020

The player was correct during his presentation, swearing his allegiance & love of the Club & that his intentions were to always stay & wants to retire at Real Madrid.

The Manchester United fans may be pissed off seeing how Mr.Ramos used the English Club as leverage in the negotiations. But, its Football, Ramos is not the first nor the last, & Real Madrid is "used" with high frequency by other to gain their own interests.

REAL MADRID TO SIGN KOVACIC ?

Apparently Spanish Football Club Real Madrid & Inter Milan have been negotiating in secret. So much so, had it not been for Italian Sports paper "Gazzetta dello Sport" we here in Spain would not have known about 21 year old Mateo Kovacic.

Real Madrid candidate.

Real Madrid wishes to reinforce its midfield after Coach Benitez expressed internally his lack of confidence with currently players Illaramendi & Lucas. The chosen player to help out Modric, Kroos & Casemiro is Austrian born Croatian International midfielder Mateo Kovacic

The interest shown by English Club Liverpool has caused Real Madrid to "accelerate" negotiations in fear that Kovacic will escape to the Premier League. According to Italian sources the deal has been basically settled, with a transfer price between 35 - 40 M€, with the signature the only thing needed.

Kovacic is a "Modric type" midfielder but with much more goals & an extraordinary talent that Real Madrid think will keep on growing due to the players young age. Real Madrid feels that the two injury spans & absences experienced by Modric last season hurt the squad & their hopes for titles. This season they wish to have a player that can substitute any of their current midfielders with guarantees. Obviously if this deal does go through current midfielders Illaramendi & Lucas will be seriously sidelined & may have to consider being loaned out.

Kovacic is currently in Athens with his squad against AEK but has not played. This is a clear sign that an announcement may appear between Clubs soon. Stay tuned.

FC BARCELONA TEAM PHOTO SEASON 2015-2016

Will this be the main starting 11 line-up for FC Barcelona in season 2015 - 2016? Below is the recent FC Barcelona team photo:

Stegen, Mascherano, Ratikic, Busquets, Pique, Messi, Alves, Neymar, Iniesta, Suarez & Alba.

FC BARCELONA TEAM PHOTO

The only doubt still hanging is in the goalkeeping area. Will Coach Luis Enrique chose Stegen or Claudio Bravo? One for La Liga? Perhaps the other will play Spanish Cup & Champions League? Stay tuned!

Coach Luis Enrique has further showed his cards in the last UEFA SuperCup against Sevilla FC. With Neymar out due to sickness, his replacement was Rafinha over Pedro, the latter more likely to leave before the end of the transfer market period. While young Sergi Roberto has been given plenty of minutes pre-season which indicates he is in line to substitute which ever midfielder who falls due to injury, sickness or suspension.

VILLARREAL TO SIGN ROBERTO SOLDADO - BAKAMBU

Barring "strange events" Tottenham Hotspurs & Spanish forward Roberto Soldado will be new player for Spanish Club Villarreal. Tottenham striker Erik Lamela let the cat out of the bag when he said goodbye to team-mate Soldado via Twitter, which he latter had to eliminate. However, the truth is that Roberto Soldado is currently in Spain, Villarreal, to tie up loose ends & pass the obligatory medical exam.

Its just a matter of hours before both Tottenham & Villarreal announce officially the transfer. Roberto Soldado returns to Spanish Football & will no doubt add experience & goals for Villarreal.

Villarreal signing

But there is more, Villarreal is about to sign another forwardCedric Bakambu comes over from Turkish Club Bursaspor at a price of 7M€.

FC BARCELONA UEFA SUPER CUP 2015 CHAMPIONS

Fantastic UEFA SuperCup Final with FC Barcelona winning 5 - 4 Sevilla FC in extra time. The hero of the night was Pedro, who did not start as expected but came on later to score the winner in the 115 th min.

Pedro is speculated that he has his future elsewhere, at Manchester United which could pay his 30M€ contract release clause in coming days. It is said that Pedro is debating internally whether to leave or not.

Super cup 2015 vs Sevilla FC

Lionel Messi was again decisive with two goals, while Sevilla FC made a heroic comeback attempt equalizing 4 - 4 at the end of the 90 minutes. The match went into extra-time & things were even until Pedro decided. Sevilla came close, very close.

FC Barcelona

Congratulations to FC Barcelona, another trophy for the Club shelves. Their next objective in coming days is the Spanish Super Cup title were they will play Athletic Club Bilbao.

UEFA EUROPEAN SUPERCUP | PRE-MATCH REVIEW - POSSIBLE STARTING 11 LINE-UPS

The 2015 - 2016 European Football season officially kicks off tonight at Tbilisi (Georgia) with the UEFA European SuperCup Final between Spanish Football Clubs FC Barcelona (Champions League winner) & Sevilla FC (Europa League winner).

Both teams have important players out - or under a cloud - coming into this match. For Barça Neymar was left home when diagnosed with a virus that will keep him out 2 weeks. His place will almost likely be taken by Pedro, player speculated to be heading over to Manchester United.

Sevilla FC has defensive problems after the "defensive back-bone" suffer food poising. Defender Rami seems to be the only one of those exposed that may recover in time. Coach Emery has to fit the jigsaw for tonight's game.

FC Barcelona beforehand is the favourite as they look to notch up another title, however Sevilla FC will be "pumped" & could pull off the victory. The pre-match speculated lie-ups for FC Barcelona & Sevilla FC are below on a graph.
