REAL MADRID TRANSFER VAN DER VAART TO TOTTENHAM

REAL MADRID has come to an agreement with English Club TOTTENHAM for the transfer of midfielder RAFAEL VAN DER VAART. The operation is speculated to be around 11M€

However there could be a problem with the shutting of the English transfer market period. Both Clubs insist that the agreement was finalized before zero hour - shutting time. The paper work on the otherhand may have arrive late & here is the problem.

Therefore the operation pends on the English Football authories, which should be OK if reasonable.

Latest: English FA say OK. Transfer 100%

ATLETICO DE MADRID TRANSFERS MIDFIELDER JURADO TO SCHALKE 04

Hi guys. Was invited yesterday to watch Atletico de Madrid & Sporting de Gijon at the Vicente Calderon stadium & had a great time watching Atletico win 4-0. I also watched Atletico player JURADO play his last game with Atletico, as it is official that he has been transferred to SCHALKE 04

The German Club pays 13M€ & offers the player 4 seasons with a 4.5M€ salary per year. An offer dificult to refuse for a young player who can only keep on growing as a Football player. He joins ex Real Madrid Captain Raul & I am sure that Jurado will give many afternoons of joy to the Schalke fans.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER - SPANISH LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2010 - 2011 | SUNDAY ROUND 1 RESULTS

More SPANISH FOOTBALL with the scheduled Sunday games of Round 1º of the SPANISH LEAGUE - LA LIGA - in action with 6 matches. Note that tomorrow Atletico de Madrid & Sporting Gijon will play the last scheduled match of Round 1º at 22.00. Sp time.

FC BARCELONA travelled to RACING DE SANTANDER & basically continued were they left things last season as Spanish Champions winning very comfortably 0-3. Barça plays automatically & dazzled everyone with their touch ball & combination play. The note in the case of Racing was in the 35th min when Tchite missed a penalty that could have changed things if it had gone in.

Things started well for the visitors early with a 3rd min goal by MESSI who chipped over the goalkeeper to signal what was to come later. In the 32nd min INIESTA scored the second solving an opportunity when the ball presented itself in the area. Then later in the 62nd minute, new signing & Spanish International, DAVID VILLA scored his first official Liga goal with Barça from an Alves pass that he headed home.

Barça looking good early!

RCD ESPANYOL won 3-1 GETAFE in an excellent display at home. The "man of the match" was Espanyol player OSVALDO who scored twice - 33rd & 55th min - & with the other goal coming at the end via DATALO in the 94th min. For Getafe the goal was scored by GALAN in the 62nd min.

OSASUNA & ALMERIA played out a toughly fought out match that finished in a o - o draw.

Nice to see REAL SOCIEDAD back in the Spanish First Division again & with a 1-0 victory over VILLAREAL. Chances throughout the match that kept busy both keepers, but it was PRIETO in the 57th min that scored the winner for the home side.

Another game that put the goalkeepers of both sides in the spot-light with numerous saves as DEPORTIVO drew 0-0 with REAL ZARAGOZA.

One can only compare with the maximum rival - FC Barcelona - & REAL MADRID is light years behind at the start of this new 2010 - 2011 season. The Madrid giant with its array of new stars only managed to 0- 0 draw against MALLORCA who gave them plenty of trouble during the match.

Real Madrid have a lot of work to do as the individual still outweights over a team mentality. They were slow, lacked spark & ideas. However lets not be too harsh on the Mourinho coached team as the "man of the match" was Mallorca goalkeeper AOUATE who stopped everything thrown at him. Added to which the Mallorca Central defenders - ex Madrid player Ruben & Nunes - were solid & worthy of mention.

With Ozil, Benzema & Khedira coming on in the 2ºhalf Real Madrid had more goal opportunities but missed & didn´t take advantage. Higuain missed 3 or 4 clear opportunities along with Ronaldo where both are under suspition of too much individual play. This last point needs to be solved as it is a proven fact that team play is the most effective way towards victory.

Lastly, Mallorca under Laudrup can be happy as they put in a great performance cancelling all the plays that Real put forward & even could have gone away with a victory if more lucky.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | SOCCER - SPANISH LEAGUE - LA LIGA 2010 - 2011 | SATURDAY ROUND 1 RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL officially kicked off tonight with three matches of the SPANISH LEAGUE - LA LIGA - season 2010 - 2011. Many of us were going through Football "cold turkey" & welcome this start to ease the nerves. Three matches that were not disappointing & sets it further up nicely for the remaining ROUND 1 games tomorrow & Monday.

Newly promoted HERCULES de Alicante hosted ATHLETIC DE BILBAO in the first match to go down 0-1 via a header from Spanish International FERNANDO LLORENTE of Bilbao. A rough & tumble affair with 9 yellow cards & 1 red card that looked more like a lower division clash than an "elite catagory" game.

MALAGA hosted VALENCIA CF to go down 1-3. The visitors go into this season having lost Silva, David Villa, Marchena & Alexis, but started well via newly signed from Mallorca player ADURIZ who scored first in the 8th min. After this initial early shock the home team reacted in the 43rd min with a goal by local player FERNANDEZ to equalize

Then in the 2ºhalf JOAQUIN ( above) scored twice for Valencia - in the 70th min & 74th min via a penalty - the seal things up & give his team the 3º points.

Newly promoted LEVANTE played visiting team SEVILLA FC & lost 1- 4. The visitors needed this victory to ease the pain & shock of being eliminated by Portuguese Club Braga from the Champions League. Plus they needed to win tonight to build confidence for this season & reinforced their questioned Coach Alvarez.

The home team started well early via
SUAREZ when in the 9th min he transformed a penalty. But 2º mins later KONKO equalized & Sevilla FC began slowly to regain control of the match. Sevilla forward ALVARO NEGREDO then transformed a penalty in the 27th min to put his team ahead & later KONKO again scored in the 62nd min for Sevilla´s third & his second. But it was´nt over as RENATO scored late in the 87th min to give a valuable victory to the visitors.

AC MILAN MAKES OFFICIAL THE SIGNING - TRANSFER OF ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC FROM FC BARCELONA

FC BARCELONA has transferred forward ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC to AC MILAN after 5 hours of intense negotiations this afternoon with all parties involved. A year ago Barça paid Inter Milan 45M€ + Samuel Eto´o (= 75M€) to sell him tonight for 24M€. Surreal turn of events in 24 hours as yesterday the price was 40M€, but there is more to this than first meets the eyes. In the future we may really know what happened to the player, with Guardiola & the Club.

So much was the desire of FC Barcelona Coach Guardiola to have the Swede out that the final deal goes like this, according to the very little information that has been given to media at this early stage of the official announcement by AC milan on its website:
  • Loaned out to AC Milan for this season.
  • AC Milan are then obliged at the end of this season to buy the player
  • The transfer price is 24M€
  • A 4 year contract.
  • Ibrahimovic takes a salary cut to around 8M€ +/- from 12M€ for Milan; as of next year when officially bought by the Italian Club.
  • AC Milan pays the original 12M€ salary of Ibrahimovic this season while on loan. This may explain the 24M€ transfer figure.
This is the basic news filtering out. The small line details will emerge exactly in the coming hours. I will re-correct the info below in a "LATEST" note if needed.

Ibrahimovic left the Barça offices still claiming that he still does not know why Guardiola wishes him to leave the Club. Stay tuned!

UEFA SUPER CUP 2010 | ATLETICO DE MADRID TEAM PHOTO

Managed to find this image of the ATLETICO DE MADRID TEAM PHOTO season 2010 - 2011, or better said, the UEFA Super Cup 2010 starting line-up team photo against Inter Milan & that won the trophy 0-2.

FC BARCELONA AC MILAN RETURN TO LOAN OPTION ( WITH TWIST) FOR IBRAHIMOVIC

The ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC situation with FC BARCELONA & negotiations with AC MILAN continue with new developments according the Barcelona based Sports papers. Apparently all sides have returned to the original formula of a LOAN, but with a twist.

The idea now is that Barça LOAN Ibrahimovic to AC Milan this year with an obligatory clause that forces Milan to buy the player at the end of the season. Thus Barça saves itself paying this season the players elevated "salary" & Milan pays Barça 30M€ ( not 40M€) for the buy. The payment would be in three parts so that Milan can pay without financial stresses.

There is a meeting scheduled this afternoon at 16.30 (Sp. Time) that will discuss all this & we may get the final OK ( or not ) from the player.

Stay tuned!

2010 UEFA SUPER CUP | INTER MILAN 0 ATLETICO DE MADRID 2

SPANISH FOOTBALL has another title via ATLETICO DE MADRID who defeated the current Champions League Champions INTER MILAN 0 - 2 to take the 2010 UEFA SUPER CUP. Its the first time ever that the Spanish Club wins this trophy & in the process stops Inter in achieving the possibility of equaling the FC Barcelona record breaking 6 titles in one single season.

It was a brilliant & complete match from Atletico who played much better & rightly deserved to win the Uefa Super Cup. Inter Milan suffered from lack of match rhythm & physical form as the game went on that saw a "stronger" Atletico gradually take control of the game.

In fact, it was the 2ºhalf that finally tipped the balance towards Atletico & the first goal came from "Man of The Match" JOSE ANTONIO REYES ( above ) when after an individual play put the ball pass Inter keeper Julio Cesar in the 62nd min.

Then in the 83rd min Atletico substituted Diego Forlan for Jurado & in the "mix up" a smart Simao surprised the Inter Milan defence to cross straight into the path of SERGIO AGUERO who scored the secind & the sealer.

The last piece of excitment came in the 89th min when Atletico goalkeeper
DE GEA stopped a penalty from DIEGO MILITO that signalled that tonight was not going to be the Italians night.

In conclusion, a great night for Spanish Football & Atletico de Madrid who can now start the new 2010 -2011 season with added confidence & some good "vibes".

Congratulations Champs!

FC BARCELONA LIVERPOOL FC COME TO AN AGREEMENT TO TRANSFER JAVIER MASCHERANO

FC BARCELONA & LIVERPOOL FC have come to an initial agreement for the transfer of midfielder JAVIER MASCHERANO. The English Club has "given" official permission for Barça to talk with their player so they can shut an agreement. It is expected that this part will have very little problems & that Javier Mascherano will fly to Barcelona this weekend to pass the medical exams & sign.

The deal is rumoured to be around 22M€ + variables according to achieved “objectives”. The player will receive a 4 year contract with a yearly salary of 5.5M€. This signing suits the desire of Coach Guardiola who wished a substitute for the departed Yaya Toure who went to Manchester City.

We hope Guardiola has & mantains a “good feeling” with the player.

FC BARCELONA 2010 | AC MILAN WILLING TO PAY 40M€ FOR IBRAHIMOVIC?

The news comes out of Italy, from a Silvio Berlusconi owned “Mediaset” website, which informs that what was originally a LOAN option negotiation yesterday for FC BARCELONA player ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has now become a BUY option with a price of 40M€. Things changed today as negotiations continued between AC MILAN & FC BARCELONA to find a way to make a Ibrahimovic transfer operation possible.

According to the Italian source, AC Milan is willing to pay 40M€ for Ibrahimovic in three annual payments: 15M€ the 1ºst yr, 15M€ the 2ºyr & 10M€ the 3ºrd yr. FC Barcelona agrees with this & has given AC Milan permission to negotiate directly with the player where the biggest obstacle exists: his 12M€ a year salary. With Italian tax rates higher than in Spain, Milan would have to pay 22M€ a year gross & that is impossible for the Club. Therefore, the Italian Club is negotiating with Ibrahimovic to take a cut in his salary to “help” out Milan carry out the transfer operation.

In this situation, everyone loses out apparently as Barça gets back 40M€ from the initial 75M€ global investment (cash + Eto´o), Ibrahimovic would have to accept an important salary cut & Milan will have to make a heavy investment effort that will take three years to pay off. However, I get the feeling that AC Milan wins in this situation in reality, but that is another story for another day.

The “bad feeling” between Coach Guardiola & Ibrahimovic widened yesterday into “unsolvable” positions when the Barça player publically commented to Italian TV after the “Gamper Trophy” game against Milan that Guardiola had only spoken to him twice in 6 months & doesn’t understand what the problem is with his Coach, while Guardiola responded that if that is so there is a logical reason & he knows it. It is obvious that Giuardiola wants Ibrahimovic out & fast, while the player forced things yesterday with his comments.

Spanish media sources are saying that Ibrahimovic is evaluating the situation tonight & all parties will get back to talks tomorrow to continue with negotiations. At this point, it looks as if Ibrahimovic may well go to AC Milan & could even be officially presented within 24 hours of his OK, but there is also the possibility that there will be no deal & Guardiola would have to live the start of the 2010 – 2011 season with a mayor dressing room & Club problem.

Stay tuned as things are coming to a conclusion. We will soon know which side the scale tips. As with Samuel Eto´o it could be a question of "feeling" for Guardiola on Zlatan:

EUROPA LEAGUE 2010 PRELIMANARY GAMES | VILLAREAL GETAFE GO THROUGH TO QUALIFY

Spanish Football Teams VILLAREAL & GETAFE join Atletico de Madrid & Sevilla FC in the draw tomorrow for the 2010 - 2011 EUROPA LEAGUE Group match ups.

VILLAREAL went into their 2ºleg match with a 5 goal advantage with a B - side which managed to win 1-2 DNEPR MOGILEV. The home team scored first via YURCHENKO, but Villareal cancelled any "hopes" of a comeback with two goals from NILMAR & M.RUBEN.

Totally diffrent affair for GETAFE who took a 1-0 1ºleg advantage to Cyprus & nearly lost. APOEL allowed Getafe to win with missed chances & a missed penalty. Although ALMEIDA scored for Apoel in the 41st min their lack of finishing allowed the Spaniards off the hook to go into extra-time. Here a goal area scrumble that put the ball into the Apoel net via an own goal by SOLOMOU in the 98th min finally pulled the game out of the Cyprus teams grasp. Getafe took control & shut out any chance to protect their 2 goal advantage for the rest of extra-time. Final score a 1 - 1 draw ( 1-2 agg to Getafe)

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 - 2011 GROUP DRAW | REAL MADRID TOUGH ROAD AHEAD

The 2010 - 2011 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Group draw has been celebrated in Monaco with the 3 Spanish representatives placed in their respective groups along with their respective opponents. Current Spanish Champions FC Barcelona will be happy with their Group D outcome which is relatively more easier than the Groups of Valencia CF & Real Madrid CF.

In fact, Real Madrid got the short end of the stick being placed in Group G & possibly the most difficult of all the groups. Below is a diagram - thanks to "Marca" - of how the various Clubs have been matched up:

In the same celebration UEFA announced the prizes for the "Best Players in their position" for last seasons Champions League with all 5 awards going to INTER MILAN:

Best Goalkeeper : Julio Cesar
Best Defender : Maicon
Best Midfielder : Wesley Sneijder
Best Forward : Diego Milito
Best Champions League Player : Diego Milito.

SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM | LIST OF 21 PLAYERS ANNOUNCED FOR LIECHTENSTEIN - ARGENTINA

Spanish National Football Team Selector & Coach Vicente del Bosque has announced the list of 21 Spanish Players to make up the Spanish Team squad that will play Liechtenstein in the Euro 2012 Group qualifier the 3rd of September, & later Argentina the 7th of September in a Friendly International match in Buenos Aires.

The observations are that Raul Albiol (Real Madrid) is out due to his injury, while Javi Martinez (At Bilbao) has asked that he be excluded to concentrate & help with the Spanish U-21 Squad who are attempting to qualify for the London Olympic Games. But the big news is the call-up of Villareal midfielder
CAZORLA who takes the spot of Valencia CF midfielder JUAN MATA. The latter will also help out the U-21 Spanish Team who are in a difficult situation to qualify in their Group & the London Olympic Games.

Below is the full list of 21 players:

Goalkeepers: Casillas (Real Madrid), Reina (Liverpool) & Valdés (Barcelona).
Defenders: Arbeloa (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Puyol (Barcelona), Piqué (Barcelona), Marchena (Villarreal) & Capdevila (Villarreal).

Midfielders: Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Busquets (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Pedro (Barcelona), Jesús Navas (Sevilla), Cazorla (Villarreal), Silva (Manchester City), Iniesta (Barcelona) & Cesc (Arsenal).

Forwards: Villa (Barcelona), Llorente (Athletic de Bilbao) & Fernando Torres (Liverpool).

JOAN GAMPER TROPHY 2010 | FC BARCELONA 1 (3) DEFEATS AC MILAN 1 (1)

FC BARCELONA has defeated AC MILAN 3-1 on penalties AFTER the match finished in a 1-1 draw, to take the "JOAN GAMPER TROPHY" which traditionally showcases to all the Barça members the new season squad.

FC Barcelona took the opportunity to thank its appreciated ex-player & star
RONALDINHO who returned to the ground, City & Club that made him the World Nº1 & gave him so many titles, as he did to Barça. The Brazilian circled the "Camp Nou" to a standing ovation where he received the thanks & the warmth of the Barça fans who haven´t forgotten his contribution to the Clubs history.

His ex-team-mates wanted to thank Ronaldinho as well & they invited the AC Milan player to join them in the pre-match FC BARCELONA starting line-up team photo

As you can see ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC started after both Barça & AC Milan spent most of the day negotiating the possibility of the Swede moving to Milan. The final outcome is that discussions will continue tomorrow were a LOAN & NOT a transfer buy is the viable option.
A very complex situation that may or may not come to a good port & that we all need to wait & see how things develop tomorrow.

The 1ºst half finished in a 0-0 score with an offside Ibrahimovic goal included, plus a slow yet well organized Milan. Barça who played their traditional touch-ball game also showed lack of "spring in their heels" as many players are still working to find their top form.

The 2ºhalf saw changes with Ibrahimovic taking a "break" & stars like Pique, Alves, Busquets, Pique, Pedro, Messi & Bojan came on to get a run. This gave Barça some freshness early & in the 48th min DAVID VILLA scored his first goal for Barça after he nicked in a ball from another signing Adriano. However, while Barça missed some chances two AC Milan veterans showed their magic in the 68th min when INZAGHI volleyed a superb goal from a Seedrof pass that was just like the old days. The match finished in a 1 - 1 draw & both sides went to the penalty shoot-out stage.

Here Barça keeper PINTO was the man of the moment as he made 3 great saves to finally give his team the victory 3-1 on penalties. An entertaining game full of emotions for Ronaldinho & uncertainty as the future of Ibrahimovic is currently being "played" out.

  • IVAN GONZALEZ (Malaga) - Central Defender

REAL MADRID | "OPERATION EXIT" 2010

According to Spanish Sports daily “AS”, REAL MADRID is negotiating with LIVERPOOL FC the possible transfer of MAHAMADOU DIARRA, while Italian Club JUVENTUS has entered the picture in talks for Dutch player RAFAEL VAN DER VAART.

In reference to the last name, Juventus offers 14M€ while Real Madrid wishes 16M€, plus to complicate things, Coach Mourinho is hesitant to let go Van Der Vaart because he lacks a 3ºrd forward. However, the Club along with the Directives, wishes to transfer Van Der Vaart & in the process receive some valuable “cash flows”.

Another name on the transfer list is Drenthe who has had interest from Italian Club FIORENTINA, along with other Clubs like Racing Santander, for example. Both mentioned Clubs wish a loan but the player doesn’t want to leave the Spanish Club. In fact, some reports comment that the young Dutch player has asked Real Madrid to be paid in full his contract if they wish to see him go out the door.

Stay tuned for more news in the Real Madrid “exit operation”.

REAL MADRID TEAM PHOTO | SEASON 2010 - 2011

As promised, managed to find a better REAL MADRID TEAM PHOTO for season 2010-2011. This is the starting line-up against Peñerol yesterday & could be the starting line-up for the start of the SPANISH FOOTBALL season - LA LIGA.

Top (L to R): Casillas, Ramos, Khedira, Alonso, Carvalho, Ronaldo
Bottom (L to R): Marcelo, Canales, Higuain, Lass Diarra, Ozil.

REAL MADRID CF 2010 - 2011 TEAM PHOTO

Not many REAL MADRID 2010-2011 TEAM PHOTOS circulating at this moment, so I managed to find this one taken tonight ater winning 2-0 the "Santiago Bernabeu Trophy" against Uruguayan Club Peñarol.

This should ease the demands of the REAL MADRID fans & I will be alert if any "proper" Team photos pop up in the near future of Real Madrid & other teams. Cheers!

FRIENDLY GAME 2010 | REAL MADRID 2 PEÑAROL 0 | DI MARIA GOAL VIDEO

REAL MADRID played its annual presentation "Friendly game" in front of its home fans in the "Santiago Bernabeu Trophy" with Uruguayian guests PEÑAROL. The final result was a 2-0 win for the home team which was deceiving as it gave more doubts than confidence with just under 5 days left to the start of the new 2010-2011 LIGA season.

The 1ºst half line up was:
Casillas; Lass, Sergio Ramos, Carvalho, Marcelo; Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Canales, Özil, Cristiano Ronaldo; Higuaín.
that changed in the 2º half with the foillowing players getting a run.
Gago (injured), Di Maria, Granero, Benzema, JuanFran, Arbeloa, Mateos & Van der Vaart

It was precisely in the 2ºhalf that REAL MADRID managed to out-pace a tired Peñarol with two goals that gave the Spaniards the victory. The first was a brilliant individual run by ANGEL DI MARIA to score in the 68th min, while the 2ºgoal came from a penalty that RAFAEL VAN DER VAART scored in the 92nd min. Here is the VIDEO is the DI MARIA goal:

Many media observers have commented that Van der Vaart may have played his last game tonight as it seems the Dutchman forms part of a list that includes Drenthe & M.Diarra - just to mention two names - that the Club has put on the transfer market.

Some brief conclusions from tonights game is that although Real Madrid are tactically better in defence, there is a serious lack of real fire-power up front with Benzema still worrying many with his lack of form & performance. Also new signing Ozil looks lacking in physical form & will have to work hard to find pace, while the team overall looks "lost" at times. At this stage, rivals FC Barcelona look a much better side, but as with all the teams in pre-season it is still too early to really compare as Real Madrid Coach Mourinho has not stopped making experiments & many be hiding his cards.

PRELIMINARY CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2010 | SEVILLA FC 3 SPORTING BRAGA 4 | BRAGA KNOCKS OUT SEVILLA FC 3-5 AGG

Big surprise tonight at Sevilla with the home team being knocked out of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE competition for season 2010 -2011 by Portuguese Club BRAGA. The final score was 3-4 with Braga winning with a 3-5 aggregate tally.

While SEVILLA FC go into the EUROPA LEAGUE competitition as a consolation the blow has been heavy especially in the financial pocket area as this loss supposes that 20% of the Clubs annual budget has gone up in smoke.

But Sevilla are only to blame as they underestimated Braga, were overtaken by the psychological pressure of a must win game & were fairly beaten by a better side who played their strategy of counter-attack Football with strong disciplined defending.

Sevilla FC started strong but slowly lost in effectivity until MATHEUS in the 31st min scored for Braga after a goalkeeping mistake from Palop which spread nerves like a virus within the Spanish side.

The 2ºhalf put another "knife" into the Sevilla FC heart when LIMA scored the 2º goal for BRAGA in the 51st min. Sevilla FC then finally reacted - late - & LUIS FABIANO scored in the 60th min followed by another via JESUS NAVAS in the 84th min who equalized.

It looked like Sevilla would pull off the miracle , but Braga player LIMA again scored a minute later to put things uphill again for the home side. Then in the 90th min LIMA scored again for his HAT-TRICK to take the wind out off the Sevilla sails & make history for the Portuguese team.

Sevilla FC fought with pride & KANOUTE scored in the 92nd min for his teams 3ºrd goal but the damage had already been done. Sevilla FC lose the Champions League prelimanary & experience the first big deception of the new 2010-2011 season.

Deception as it is, a big congratulations must go out to Braga who did an excellent prelimary & played an excellent game tonight to reach the maximum objective: to be part of the European Football elite.

FC BARCELONA 2010 | MASCHERANO CLOSER IBRAHIMOVIC UP IN THE AIR

The key message is that LIVERPOOL FC Argentine midfielder JAVIER MASCHERANO will not play in tonight’s Premier League game against Manchester City, instead of the official Club announcement that Liverpool has rejected the initial offer from FC BARCELONA. The offer is said to be 15M€ + variables + player Hleb which is estimated to be around 20M€ +/-, an offer that Liverpool has rejected “for the moment”.

FC Barcelona has come to an agreement with Mascherano, but needs to make an offer to Liverpool FC before the Spanish Club can count on the services of the Argentine. The English Club has left open the door with their announcement that Mascherano will not play tonight thus supposing that Barça will soon be making a second & better offer. In my opinion, everything looks set for Javier Mascherano to sign for FC Barcelona before the closing of the transfer window; it is just a matter of agreeing to the “right” price.

On other front, AC MILAN has acknowledged that they have entered conversions with FC BARCELONA for forward ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC. The Italian Club travels to Barcelona to play Barça next Wednesday in their “season friendly opener for their members” – The Gamper Trophy – where both Clubs will discuss face to face the future of the Swedish International. Stay tuned!

SEVILLA FC TRANSFERS FRENCH DEFENDER SQUILLACI TO ARSENAL FC

SEVILLA FC & ARSENAL FC have come to an agreement for the former to transfer to the latter 30 year old French International defender SQUILLACI. The Frenchmen flew yesterday to London to undergo the medical examinations before signing for the “Gunners”. The transfer price has not been given but speculations in the Spanish press comment that it could be between 6.5 – 7M€, amount that Sevilla paid Olympique de Lyon two years ago.

Local press speculates that the substitute for Squillaci at Sevilla FC could be Argentine International & Bayern Munich defender Demichelis. Apparently the player has experienced a “fall-out” with his Coach Van Gaal & this could motive the German Club to allow the player to leave. But this is all rumour & it will be wise to wait & see how things evolve in this front.

LATEST - Valencia CF Defender ALEXIS could be the "true" substitute. Stay tuned!

FRIENDLY GAME 2010 | HERCULES 1 REAL MADRID 3

REAL MADRID defeated newly ascended Club HERCULES of Alicante 1-3 in a friendly game that served to celebrate the home teams welcome back to the Spanish League & newly renovated Football ground to introduce the season 2010-2011 squad to their home fans.

Real Madrid travelled without Casillas, Ramos, Xabi Alonso & Cristiano Ronaldo which gave more time to the younger players & Ozil who debuted in the "steamy & hot" conditions of Alicante.

The first half was slow with Real Madrid playing touch ball Football & with the newer players learning to combine, but it was Hercules who scored first with a goal in the 40th min by SENDOA from a partial mistake from young Real keeper Adan.

However, things changed in the 2ºhalf when KARIM BENZEMA scored to equalize in the 55th min. The Frenchmen has been questioned by Coach Mourinho all week for his lack of commitment , words that seem to have woken the Real Madrid forward who put in his best game of the pre-season.

The some attitude was woken up tonight within Argentine signing
DI MARIA who scored in the 75th min , to see later in the 81st min KARIM BENZEMA score his second.

The only dark note was the red card given to Real Madrid midfielder Pedro Leon in the 82nd min.

A good night of Football with Real Madrid playing well & "regaining" some important players back in form. Good night for Ozil who showed signs of his talent but still needs to adapt himself to Spanish Football & the "hot weather". Lastly, special mention to Khadira, Sergio Canales & Granero, who came on in the 2º half, all of which put in a very good game.

SPANISH FOOTBALL HISTORY | FC BARCELONA CLOSES IN ON REAL MADRID IN OVERALL TITLES

bSpanish Sports daily “Marca” makes an interesting observation today in its online edition; that FC BARECLONA is close to overtaking REAL MADRID in overall historical titles. With yesterdays Spanish Super Cup title FC Barcelona has 70 historical total titles as compared with 72 that belong to Real Madrid.

Here below is a very good descriptive diagram taken from the mentioned source that depicts perfectly the situation. As you can see the reign of Real Madrid over SPANISH FOOTBALL may soon be a thing of the past if Barça continue to accumulate titles.

2010 SPANISH SUPER CUP RESULT | FC BARCELONA 4 SEVILLA FC 0 ( 5 - 3 AGG)

FC BARCELONA put in a magnificent performance tonight to turn around the 1º leg 1- 3 deficit result & win the 2 ºleg match against SEVILLA FC 4-0 to take another title, the 2010 SPANISH SUPER CUP, with a 5-3 aggregate total. In fact, I ask myself, why did Sevilla bother turning up at all, as they clearly had their minds in next Tuesdays "do or die" Champions League 2º leg qualifier against Braga. They were outplayed & blasted off "Camp Nou", especially in the 1ºst half, where they simply looked liked practicing "dummies". However, no merit must be taken away from the Spanish Champions who played with their World Champions from the start as Valdes, Pique, Busquets, Pedro & Xavi ( below) who was the "master-blaster" with pin-point passes that gave the opening goals.

All this & LIONEL MESSI who put in his first new season HAT-TRICK with goals in the 24th, 43rd & 90th min. The man is totally diffrent with Barça, a World Class act, that for some unknown reason does not shine when he plays with Argentina.

The other goal - the opener - was an own goal by Sevilla FC player KONKA in the 13th min after PEDRO dribbled pass 3 defenders to shoot at goal.

An interesting observation, IBRAHIMOVIC stayed on the bench all night. It is obvious that Pedro is seen as priority, with Bojan & Villa who came on late in the 2ºhalf, for the forward positions. One may deduce - or not - that Coach Guardiola sent a "message" to the Swede that this season is going to be difficult & that an "exit" solution may be to his benifit. Said this, perhaps it is an exaggerated interpretation but it will surely be part of debate tomorrow in the Sporting papers.

Congratulations to FC Barcelona.
