UEFA Champion League back in full swing with three Spanish Football Clubs scheduled for Group game duties. Here are all the final results of the Spanish Clubs along with the goalscorers.
Real Madrid hosted Paris St Germain to battle out which of the two would lead Group A. The final result a 1 - 0 win for Real Madrid who played badly overall & which PSG let slip through ineffective finishing. That & a couple of posts that allowed Real Madrid to survive.
The goal came in the 35th min when substitute defender Nacho, on for injured Marcelo, grabbed a deflected ball & lobbed over the PSG goalkeeper. A lucky break that allowed the Spanish Football Team to hold onto the advantage till the end.
Not great Football from Real Madrid but a win. Paris St Germain will be disappointed but they still lack that "plus" to overcome in the big occasions.
Atletico de Madrid travelled 8 hours in an air plane to visit Astana in Kazakhstan to finish their Group C match in a 0 - 0 draw. It was cold & also frustrating for Atletico as the locals parked - what's called - their bus in front of their goal. An ultra defensive set up by Astana the stopped Atletico de Madrid, while the Spanish Team was also very unlucky in front of goal.
At least a point was brought back home with the Group qualification still to be worked & put under control. Atletico de Madrid will have to be careful with their remaining games.
Sevilla lost 1 - 3 to Machester City in their Group D encounter. The Spaniards claimed two penalties not called but that is no excuse for the below performance which included more heart than head.
The English club went in more concentrated & Sterling opened in the 9th min. That was followed shortly by Fernandinho who scored in the 12th min. Sevilla managed to react with a 26th min goal from Tremonlinus but Manchester City got their third through Bony in the 37th min.
Sevilla FC tried bravely thereafter but the Manchester City control was enough.
Tomorrow more Champions League games with Spanish Football Teams FC Barcelona & Valencia CF in action.
