Spain has “DAVID VILLA FEVER”. So much so that a local music group from Northern Spain – exactly from the region of Asturias & region where David Villa was born – has made a song that is catching on. To understand the track, David Villa comes from a coal mining village called Tuilla (Langreo, Asturias) from humble & working class family associated with the mines.
The song is sung with a typical regional accent & slang that sings of the beginnings & rise of the “prodigal son”. The “song hook” is the chorus “illa, illa, Villa , Mara - Villa” which is catching on like wildfire throughout the country as the Spanish National Football Team
progresses in the World Cup & David Villa keeps scoring goals.
Here is a video montage by a fan featuring the number, which isn’t a typical Billboard NÂș1 song but has all of Spain currently singing it:

What a kickass game.
I think Villa is about to have a few more songs written about him. What a remarkable show of loyalty to his small town, his home club, his friends and his background. Go Villa, go Spain.
