who has had a fantastic year, exploding onto the World scene to remind

years ahead for Messi he has time to prove if he can reach that height
or not.

UEFA CUP RESULTS: ATLETICO DE MADRID 2-ABERDEEN 0 & GETAFE 1-H.TEL AVIV 2

The good news is that ATLETICO DE MADRID won its group B
game, while GETAFE lost its group G match, both part of the
UEFA CUP qualifiers played tonight.

AT.MADRID
defeated comfortably Scottish side ABERDEEN 2-0.
DIEGO FORLAN ( pictured above) scored first for Atletico in the
45th min.

Then the 2º goal came from a SIMAO free-kick ( pictured above)
that hit the post & bounced onto the Scottish keepers back, LANGFIELD
& into the net. Could have been more goals for Atletico!
The win puts Atletico in 2º place in its group.

P.HERNANDEZ
( pictured above) scored GETAFE´s only late goal
in its 1-2 defeat against H.TEL AVIV. The Israelis scored thanks
to BADIER in the 4th min & DEGO in the 31st min.
Getafe are placed in 3º position in their group.

RIQUELME LEAVES VILLAREAL FOR BOCA JUNIORS

Finally the RIQUELME saga comes to an end, as the VILLAREAL
player has agreed to accept the deal with BOCA JUNIORS &
become part of the Argentine team asap.

This ends months of speculation & ends Riquelme´s days "in
the desert", after not having played a single game this
season with Villareal. Riquelme is reported to be already in
Buenos Aires after leaving the club without saying goodbye to
his teammates.
The deal is said to be around 10M€ , with 3M€ going to Villareal.
SFS wishes him good luck!

SPANIARD FERNANDO TORRES HELPS STEER LIVERPOOL

Great to see FERNANDO TORRES back in form with his 2 goals for
Liverpool in their 4-1 victory over Oporto in the Champions League.
Important victory for the English side as it keeps alive their hopes of
qualifying for the next stage.
Last nights performance from the Spaniard is also great news for the
Spanish national side, lets hope Torres gets games & avoids injury.

Here´s a VIDEO with one of Torres´s goals last night.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2007/08: VIDEO HIGHLIGHT OF WERDER BREMEN 3 - REAL MADRID 2

In case you missed & wish to see all the goals of this interesting game
played yesterday, here is the Video.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS 2007/08: WERDER BREMEN 3-REAL MADRID 2 & VALENCIA CF 0 - SCHALKE 04 0

Not good news for Real Madrid & worst for Valencia CF in tonights
Champions League group matches. Real needed a point to secure their

place in the next stage & failed to reach the objective, while Valencia
needed to win to keep alive the European Cup hope & failed.

WERDER BREMEN won REAL MADRID 3-2 in a good game for the
Germans & a disasterous match for the Spaniards, thanks to a horrible
defensive performance.
The quick goal by ROSENBERG ( pictured) for Werder in the 3rd min
was the omen.

Quickly ROBINHO drew & it looked like the German goal was a mistake,
however it was´nt, as the Madrid defenders Pepe & Metzelder played
their worst game to date, allowing SANOGA to score Werder 2º goal
(pictured below) in the 39th min & HUNT for the 3rd in the 57th.

It was all uphill from then onwards for Real & VAN NISTELROOY
managed to pull one back in the 70th min to give Madrid hopes of
drawing, but it
was´nt to be.

Real Madrid now needs to grab 1º point in their next game against Lazio at
Madrid to secure their place in the next stage. If they win, they will secure the
top spot of the their group.

The below pictures of David Villa & Miguel tell the whole story of
VALENCIA CF after drawing 0-0 against German side SCHALKE
04.

Valencia needed to win to keep their very slim chances alive & failed
in their quest to move on in the tournament. Valencia now hopes slips into
the UEFA Cup tournament which is a good consolation prize, but we all
know that the European Cup is the ultimate prize & glory in European
Football.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS OF SEVILLA 3-ARSENAL 1& LYON 2 - FC BARCELONA 2

Highlights of yesterdays Champion League games with Sevilla & FC
Barcelona.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIERS 2007/08: SEVILLA FC 3-ARSENAL 1 & LYON 2-FC BARCELONA 2

SEVILLA FC has secured its place for the next stage of the Champions
League with a 3-1 victory over ARSENAL which places them top of
Group H.
Great match by the Spaniards who ran riot along the right wing with
defender Alves & Navas very active all night.

Arsenal scored 1st via DA SILVA in the 10th min, but Sevilla had 3
men that put the ball into the Arsenal net. First was KEITA ( above)
who scored in the 23rd min, followed by FABIANO ( below) with a
perfect header & KANOUTE who converted a penalty near the end of
the game. Sevilla looked good!

FC BARCELONA travelled to LYON for its Group E game which ended
in a deserved 2-2 draw. Barça remain on top of their table with 12 points
& are well on the way to move onto the next stage.

INIESTA
scored first in the 3rd min to set the ball rolling, with the
extra highlight being the young 17 year old promise BOJAN ( pictured below)
debuting in Champions & sitting Ronaldinho on the bench.

MESSI
(below) converted a penalty in the 57min for Barça´s 2º goal
of the night.

However, the other personality of the match was Lyon player JUNINHO
( pictured below) who scored twice; the first in the 7th min to equalize &
the second in the 79th min via a penalty
to take away the victory from Barça
& draw the game.

Tomorrow night, Spain´s two other representatives Real Madrid &
Valencia play their group games.

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 13/ 2007 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Another great Sunday of Spanish Football today as Round 13 of
"La Liga" concludes, with plenty of goals, cliff hangers & missed

opportunities. Real Madrid continues to lead the ladder by 1º point,
although they drew yesterday ( see below posts for yesterdays´s match

details).

VILLAREAL had the chance to lead the Spanish 1º Division for the
first time in its history if they defeated ALMERIA, after Real Madrid
drew yesterday. However, they could´nt take that chance at all
after they finished their game in a 1-1 draw.
Villareal started well after in form Turkish International NIHAT ( pictured
above ) scored in the 13th min. However, Almeria player
NEGREDO
(pictured below) spoiled the day after equalizing in the 52 min.
Villareal stay 2º on the leader.

ATLETICO DE MADRID won VALLADOLID 4-3 in an authentic
cliff hanger. Once again Atletico suffered as their impulse to attack

left continous holes in defence that cut them up with the Valladolid
counter-attacks. It looked like it would finish in a draw when in the
last minute an own goal by Valladolid gave Atletico the victory...
pure luck indeed.

MAXI RODRIGUEZ ( pictured above) lead his side with two goals
( 49th & 55th min), with MANICHE opening early in the 2nd min.

VALLADOLID played well & were unlucky to lose. Their goalscorers
were VICTOR ( pictured above) in the 39th min, SISI in the 47th &
LLORENTE in the 53rd min.

Then in the 91st min, an own goal by Valladolid player PEDRO LOPEZ
gave Atletico the victory.

Another high scoring game was the LEVANTE - REAL BETIS
clash with the former winning 4-3

It was another exhibition from Levante player RIGA ( pictured
above) who scored 2º goals, along with teammates TOMASI &
J. FUEGO.
REAL BETIS
played well, but it was´nt enough with goals from
ARZU, EDU & PAVONE.

ESPANYOL
continue on their merry way after they defeated
1-2 away OSASUNA.
Espanyol started strong with goals from ANGEL ( 29th m) &
VALDO ( 32nd), & PORTILLO pulled one back for Osasuna in
the 74th min , back it was´nt enough.

ATHLETIC DE BILBAO drew 2-2 against DEPORTIVO with a
see-saw affair with regards to the scoreline. At.Bilbao opened
via BARRAGAN ( 22m) followed by Deportivo player RIKI (52m),
then At.Bilbao again with LOPEZ ( 53m) & the equalizer for
Deportivo thanks to TABORDA ( 89m).

RACING DE SANTANDER
played VALENCIA & won 1-0 thanks
to a goal from JORGE LOPEZ in the 69th min. This defeat keeps
Valencia in its personal "turmoil" as they are not able to get out
of the slump, independently of hiring new coach Koeman.

Last game played REAL ZARAGOZA - GETAFE has finished in a 1-1
draw, with goals from SOUSA for Getafe & the equalizer from a free-kick
from D´ALESSANDRO for Zaragoza.

WORLD CUP 2010: SPAIN DRAWS A NOT SO EASY QUALIFYING GROUP 5

SPAIN is placed in Group 5 of the World Cup 2010 qualifiers , after it
was decided this afternoon in the draw for South Africa.

Ex - Real Madrid & European Cup winner, plus French International
World Champion, Karembeu is pictured showing Spain, after it was
drawn out of the bowl as head of Group 5.

Spain will play Turkey, Belgium, Bosnia, Armenia & Estonia, as the
above graphic ( thanks to Marca) illustrates.
It´s not going to be an easy road for the Spaniards for South Africa

2010. Yet again, it never is for anyone if the best of the best are to
play the World´s much prestigious Football tournament. Good luck!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - ROUND 13/ 2007: VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS OF BARCELONA-RECREATIVO; SEVILLA-MALLORCA & MURCIA-REAL MADRID

played of Round 13 from "La Liga", here they are on VIDEO, enjoy!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LA LIGA - ROUND 13/ 2007 SATURDAY RESULTS

The Spanish 1º Division was back tonight with 3 games of Round 13
played with interesting results.

SEVILLA FC played MALLORCA & lost 1-2 that takes them further
away from the elite part of the table. The 2º goal for Mallorca was scored
by VARELA (pictured) in the 37 th min, while before in the 16th min
IBAGAZA opened the scoring.
For Sevilla KANOUTE managed to regain some pride for his team

with their only goal in the 46th min.

Young 17 year old upcoming Barça star BOJAN ( pictured) got in on
the 2º half & helped in FC BARCELONA ´s 3-0 win over
RECREATIVO.
After a tough week of internal debates & rumours Barça went all out
& scored its 3 goals thanks to MILITO in the 63rd min , BOJAN in the
65th & once again MESSI in the 81st min.

REAL MADRID
started well with an 8th min header & goal from
ROBINHO against MURCIA.
However, Murcia grew throughout the game & grabbed the equalizer
via DE LUCAS ( below) in the 46th min.
Murcia took control & made Real nervious, so much so, that
GUTI
received a Red Card after kicking back at a Murcia player after being
fouled.
With Real Madrid down to 10 men they were against the ropes until the
final whistle: Final result 1-1.

REAL MADRID NEWS: HOT TRANSFER RUMOURS

According to "Marca" Italian club INTER MILAN maybe about
to "crash" REAL MADRID ´s party.
Real Madrid is following closely & is in contact with 19 year old
OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE & French International
SAMIR NASRI
(pictured). The young star has already voiced is preference for Real, but
Inter has also shown interest & wishes Nasri to be the replacement
for Figo. If Inter enters the picture it could cause a price upward
spiral & put both Real & Inter in conflict. Stay tuned!

JULIO CESAR BAPTISTA ( pictured below) is the talk of Italian
news, specially "Corriere dello Sport Stadio", where the players
representative has commented that the REAL MADRID player
looks favourably at the possibility of going to AC ROMA.
Baptista currently is out of favour & not able to play with Real Madrid
& may consider the Roma option as the most viable.

Staying with REAL MADRID, news from England via "The Mirror"
comments that Real Madrid is negotiating with CHELSEA forward
DROGBA & maybe willing to pay up to 40M€.
Rumour has it that Chelsea is considering signing Nicolas Anelka from
Bolton for January 2008 which will make living with Drogba difficult.
SFS will keep an eye on developments!

VILLAREAL & BOCA JUNIORS HAVE AGREEMENT. BUT RIQUELME WANTS EVERY CENT

Spanish club VILLAREAL has an agreement with BOCA JUNIORS
for the transfer of its Argentine International RIQUELME ( pictured).
However, they need the actual player to OK the deal & here is were we
find the hurdle.

Riquelme comments that HE decides his future & that he wishes to
get paid every cent worth to him from his current 2009 contract

with Villareal. So much so, that he is will to stay at the club without
playing at all if its necessary. The relationship between player & club
is non-existent. Stay tuned
as someone ( or party) has to give in.

FC BARCELONA NEWS: EDMILSON OPENS A CAN OF WORMS

FC BARCELONA
´s Brazilian midfielder JOSE EDMILSON has
broken the teams pact of solving problems inhouse & has caused
the squad to get together this afternoon for 30 mins ( without Coach
Rijkaard) to claim an explanation from Edmilson for the reasons behind
his declarations & shut files.

Edmilson made comments on TV3 ( Catalan TV) that has opened up
to all & confirmed what many already suspect, that there is bad feeling
in the squad & perhaps personal "problems" that explain the low form
of players & the team.
His comments range from. "...there are black sheep in the dressing room",
"...there is no union" & the reason for Ronaldinho´s low form could be a
personal problem. That in itself has lead to a whole lot of rumours.

These comments has created a blacklash at the club that has forced
Edmilson to public say his sorry & that he made a mistake.
However, the damage has been done & the outside world now suspects!
Added to this it has opened up a whole range of rumours that may damage
further the team in the mid to long term future.
