"Después de cinco años maravillosos formando parte de un equipo que ha hecho realidad los sueños de cualquier entrenador, ha llegado el momento de afrontar un cambio en mi vida profesional para dedicar fuerzas y energías a continuar el proceso de la enfermedad que me diagnosticaron hace un año y medio.
Los tratamientos que debo seguir a partir de ahora no hacen recomendable, según la opinión de los médicos, que me pueda dedicar al cien por cien a las tareas propias del primer entrenador de un equipo de la exigencia del FC Barcelona, pero continuaré muy de cerca y seguiré trabajando por este Club que tanto amo en otras tareas del área deportiva.
No es fácil dejar este grupo de personas tan especiales, los jugadores, los compañeros de ‘staff’ y amigos con los que he compartido tantas vivencias inolvidables. Les estaré eternamente agradecido por todo lo que me han dado y lo que me han demostrado. La calidad humana y futbolística de este equipo está a prueba de cualquier obstáculo y estoy convencido de que afrontará con toda su capacidad los nuevos retos deportivos de una temporada que debe ser ilusionante para todos.
También quiero agradecer especialmente al presidente, a toda la Junta Directiva y al director deportivo Andoni Zubizarreta toda la confianza que pusieron en mí y, sobre todo, su apoyo incondicional, tanto deportivo como personal. Igualmente importante para mí es el apoyo médico y humano que recibo tanto del doctor Ramon Canal como de su equipo de médicos que están a mi lado. Sé que este partido no lo juego solo, que formo parte de un Club solidario que me ayudará a salir adelante en este largo proceso, como ha hecho hasta ahora.
A todos vosotros, socios y aficionados del Barça, también quiero agradeceros de todo corazón las muestras de apoyo y afecto que me habéis hecho llegar, no sólo ahora sino a lo largo de los últimos meses. Deciros que estoy tranquilo, fuerte y que afronto esta nueva etapa en el proceso de mi enfermedad con plena confianza de que todo irá bien.
Muchas gracias también a todos los aficionados del fútbol, a colegas de profesión, clubes, deportistas y personas conocidas y anónimas por vuestros mensajes de ánimo que tanto nos reconfortan a mí y a mi familia.
Son momentos difíciles para los míos y por eso he pedido a los medios de comunicación respeto y comprensión. Ahora que he dejado de ser el entrenador del Barça espero poder tener la tranquilidad y privacidad que tanto yo como mi familia necesitamos en estos momentos.
No quisiera terminar esta carta sin desear mucha suerte y todos los éxitos al nuevo entrenador del mejor equipo del mundo.

However, I thought with so many FC Barcelona fans around the World that a simple translation onto English maybe of value to the readers. All I have done is pass it through "Google Translator" which has done an adequate job. There maybe structural grammatical errors that "Google Translator" cannot rectify as it translates but the essence & the human message is readable:
After five wonderful years as part of a team that has made dreams come true for any coach, it's time to face a change in my professional life and devote energy to continue fighting the disease I was diagnosed a year ago & half ago.

These are difficult times for my family and so I have asked the media respect and understanding. Now that I am no longer the coach of Barca hope to have the peace and privacy that I and my family need right now.
