The Spanish Football season 2016 - 2017 kicked off yesterday with two Friday night matches of La Liga. The final results of these games are:
  • Deportivo 2 ( Masquera, Lucas (p) ) - Eibar 1 ( Ramis ),
  • Malaga FC 1 (Juanpi) - Osasuna 1 (Fran Merida).
La Liga 2016 - 2017
Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi & Arda Turan
La Liga continued today with another three games, including the showcase of the reigning Spanish League Champions FC Barcelona against Real Betis. The final result of this game was a crushing 6 - 2 victory by FC Barcelona over Real Betis that included a HAT-TRICK by Luis Suarez.

If this is any indication the reigning Spanish Liga Champions start the season in top shape & again are definite firm candidates to be fighting again for the title in 2017. Barça started with new signings Umtiti & Denis Suarez, along with Turkish International Arda Turan; these along with a magical Messi destroyed the visitors. It was Arda Turan who opened the scoring & then the Messi - Suarez pair did the rest, including stunning Football & free-kicks. The goals fell in this order:
  • Arda Turan 5th min , 1 - 0
  • Ruben Castro 20th min , 1 - 1
  • Messi 36th min, 2 - 1
  • Luis Suarez 41st min, 3 - 1
  • Luis Suarez 55th min, 4 - 1
  • Messi 56th min, 5 - 1
  • Luis Suarez 81st min, 6 - 1
  • Ruben Castro 83rd min, 6 - 2
La Liga Spain Football

For Betis their shinning light was their forward Ruben Castro who scored two goals.

Granada drew 1 - 1 with Villarreal in a match were the latter hit the post twice. The game lifted in entertainment in the second half when Samu put Villarreal ahead through a free kick in the 61st min. Granada then reacted & managed to score the equalizer in the 6th min through Ponce. Shared points!

Sevilla FC

The best game of Round 1 of Liga was the Sevilla FC - RCD Espanyol clash. Final result 6 - 4 going to Sevilla FC with goals from the the first moments:
  • Piatti 8th min , 0 - 1
  • Sarabia 15th min, 1 - 1
  • Vietto 22nd min, 2 - 1
  • Hernan Perez 25th min, 2 - 2
  • Victor Sanchez 44th min , 2 - 3
  • Vietto 45th min, 3 - 3
  • Fran Vazquez 54th min, 4 - 3
  • Ben Yedder 65th min , 5 - 3
  • Kiyotake 74th min, 6 - 3
  • Gerard Moreno 80th min, 6 - 4
See-saw stuff ( end to end Football) which added to the entertainment allowing the result to fluctuate in short periods. The balance could have tipped in favour to any of the two teams but in the end Sevilla FC managed to pull away & secure the 3 points.

Young Argentinian forward Vietto brought to Sevilla from At. Madrid this season shined tonight & could be a sign that this season could be his season.

REAL MADRID | ANDRES GOMES POSSIBLE INTEREST

Rumour has it that newly crowned European Champion & Portuguese midfielder for spanish Football club Valencia, ANDRE GOMES, is the first option to boost Real Madrid midfield for next season. Real Madrid Coach  Zidane wants to strengthen the centre of the field with quality but at the same time with a hard worker.

At 22 years old Portuguese International  responds to the wanted profile with good ball skills , quick thinking in building the play and balancing to help out with defensive duties . In a nutshell , a player who can cover Luka Modric if injured or given a rest .

Real Madrid interest

The asked price from Valencia CF is a huge 65M€ which is frankly over inflated. Real Madrid knows beforehand that Valencia needs to sell to pay off debt 6 stay with inthe UEFA "financial fair-play" limits. Time is on the buyers side & this week could be decisive as both Clubs talk out options in reference to Andre Gomes.

There are other Clubs also very interested. It has been written that Juventus FC has put forward a 40M€ offer, while other Clubs like PSG, Chelsea & even FC Barcelona are close by with the fishing string.

Stay tuned!

LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 29 SATURDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football action with Round 29 Liga games scheduled for this weekend. Here are today´s matches final results along with all the goalscorers.

Spain Soccer Liga

Round 29 of Liga kicked off with the Friday Night opener between Malaga FC & Real Sporting de Gijon. The final result a 1 - 0 victory for the home side that puts Sporting Gijon in second last place of the Liga classification table.

Gijon left angry as a clear hand-ball inside the penalty area by a Malaga player was not seen nor called. The winner for Malaga was scored by Juanpi in the 24th min.

Soccer Liga Spain

FC Barcelona steamrolled Madrid Club Getafe 6 - 0. Comfortable victory which was one-sided & at times "cruel" for the visiting team. The news apart from the goals was that Luis Suarez was rested & Messi missed a penalty. The goals came in the following order:
  • Juan Rodriguez (own goal) 7th min, 1 - 0
  • Munir 18th min, 2 - 0
  • Neymar 31st min, 3 - 0
  • Messi 39th min, 4 - 0
  • Neymar 50th min, 5 - 0
  • Arda Turan 56th min, 6 - 0
Celta de Vigo

Celta de Vigo recovered from last weeks hammering by Real Madrid to defeat today 1 - 0 Real Sociedad. However, Celta goalkeeper Sergio was one of the best players of the match as he made numerous saves to secure the victory for his team. The only goal & winner came from Aspas in the 15th min with a wonderful chip.

Atletico Madrid Liga

Atletico de Madrid comfortably defeated Deportivo A Coruña 3 - 0. Goals from inform midfielder Saul in the 18th min, followed by Frenchman Griezmann in the 60th min & Argentinian Correa in the 83rd min.

The victory keeps Atletico solidly on the Liga table in 2º place. Next Tuesday they have the important Champions League clash at home against PSV Einhoven. Torres & Augusto were rested tonight perhaps with this in mind.

Rayo Vallecano 1  - Eibar 1

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ATLETICO DE MADRID LIGA CHAMPIONS | SATURDAY RESULTS

The Spanish Football League title went down to the wire to be settled in the last Round (38) & precisely between the two contenders, Atletico de Madrid & FC Barcelona. The much anticipated game at "Camp Nou" ended in a 1 - 1 draw which gave Atletico de Madrid the Spanish Liga Title season 2013-2014.

PHOTO AT MADRID LIGA CHAMPIONS

The match takes all the headlines & eclipses the other games scheduled today/tonight. The FC Barcelona - Atletico de Madrid game was costly to both sides in injuries, especially Atletico de Madrid which lost Diego Costa & Arda Turan. Both have a cloud over their participation in the UEFA Champions League Final against Real Madrid next Saturday. FC Barcelona lost Sergi Busquets to injury & is a concern for the Spanish National Football Team selector.

ATLETICO DE MADRID

The game in itself was as expected nervous, tense & taken to the limit as both sides had the Liga Championship in their hands. FC Barcelona went ahead against the "grain" of play when they were not playing well when Alexis scored a "cracker" in the 33rd min. However, it is not the same Barça team we have been used to in the passed seasons or at the start or midway through this season. The "Barça Machine" is not precise, fine-tuned & reliable with obvious "problems" in the defensive area & in fixed ball situations.

It was from a corner that Atletico de Madrid managed the prized draw & point after Godin flew in to header a corner in the 49th min. This put doubts into the Barcelona team as Atletico regrouped to neutralize Barça & their efforts. This included a great Courtois goalie save that inspired his team. Barça will claim an unjust disallowed goal to Messi for off-side which would have possibly given them the title, but in the end the packed "Camp Nou" crowd rose to applaud the new Spanish League Champions Atletico de Madrid.

For Barcelona its a "bad season" finishing second & not winning any titles signalling the end of a "Golden Era" that perhaps will never be repeated. Big chances are coming starting with a new Coach (rumour is Luis Enrique ex Barcelona & Celta de Vigo Coach) as Tata Martino announced his "goodbye after the match & a string of players that will leave or be sold. More news in coming weeks & months, so stay tuned!

The other Round 38 games final results are:

The Friday night Round 38 game was Malaga FC 1 (Portillo) - Levante 0

Today:
Real Madrid 3 (Bale, 2 X Morata) - RCD Espanyol 1 (Pizzi)

Real Madrid finished the Liga season third with shared points ( 87points ) with FC Barcelona. Their star forward Cristiano Ronaldo did not start todays match as he retired during the warm-up & Karim Benzema felt a pinch in the groin during the match. Both are under a cloud for next weeks UEFA Champions League Final against Atletico de Madrid. However, Coach Ancelotti said he is confident of having both available.

Valencia CF 2 (Feghouli, Piatti) - Celta de Vigo 1 (Inigo Lopez)

Valencia made a comeback to take the match & give the local fans something to smile about tonight, after a very difficult season.

Tomorrow the last games of Round 38 of Spanish Liga continue with big drama at the bottom of the classification table. Half a dozen Clubs will be playing for their Liga future next season as they attempt to avoid relegation. Tense afternoon/night tomorrow of Spanish Football.

SPANISH FOOTBALL LIGA ROUND 35 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football Liga action today with Round 35 & things getting hot at the top part of the classification table & dramatic in & around the relegation zone. Below are all the final results - scores along with the goalscorers.

Liga Soccer 2014

Elche hosted Levante in the Friday Night game & finished with a 1 - 1 draw. A result which favoured Levante as Elche is dangerously close to the danger-zone relegation area of the table. Elche went ahead in the 62nd min through Boakye but Levante equalized in the 73rd min through Angel.

Spanish Liga 2014

Granada played Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano & lost 0 - 3. Granada which is also in a dangerous position close to the relegation zone auto-destructed themselves when Brahimi got himself a red card in the 48th min leaving his team down to 10 men. Before this Granada was playing very well & Brahimi hit the "wood-work" in the 48th min.

However, with a man extra Rayo Vallecano took over & the goals followed in the following manner, first with Saul in the 53rd min, Larrivey in the 58th min & Sebas Fernandez in the 85th min. Rayo basically has its place assured for next season in Liga.

Football Spain 2014

Getafe had a do or die match against Malaga FC. The final result 1 - 0 to Madrid Club Getafe which indirectly sent mathematically Real Betis into the Spanish 2º Division for next season. Cruel event as Real Betis had their match at 22.00 hrs & knew previously they had said good-bye to Liga. Malaga was perhaps more "relaxed" because they have their future in Liga secured.

The first goal for Getafe came early in the 7th min from Colunga. After this a very competitive game with red cards to Getafe player Ciprian & red card to Malaga player Angeleri.

An important win to Getafe today but they are still far from securing their Liga future. They are still very much in danger.

Spanish Football Liga 2014

Real Madrid hosted the "in danger" Osasuna & won 4 - 0 in a comfortable match keeping their own Liga title aspirations open while they wait for Atletico de Madrid to possibly slip. Real Madrid also had their mind on next Tuesdays vital 2º leg away clash with Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final & rested players like Benzema, Coentrao, Xabi Alonso ( on later ) , Carvajal ( on later ), Gareth Bale & Pepe. Cristiano Ronaldo started, as he looked to pick up rhythm to get to next Tuesday in an optimal playing level.

He did so with 2 goals - from Cristiano Ronaldo - putting him up there around the season 30 goal mark along with Liverpool FC player Luis Suarez as both "fight it" out for the "European Golden Boot". The first goal was a long range driver ( possibly off-side ) in the 6th min & the second another long-range driver in the 51st min. The Portuguese forward was then substituted & the third Real Madrid goal arrived when Di Maria placed a cross onto the head of Sergio Ramos in the 59th min. The fourth came from substitute Carvajal who headed over the Osasuna goalie in the 83rd min from a smart Isco pass.

CARLOS VELA

Real Betis went into their game against Real Sociedad knowing beforehand that earlier victory by Madrid Club Getafe had sent them to the 2º Division next season. Real Sociedad is behind Sevilla FC & needed to win to keep the pressure on for Europe next season.

As one would imagine Real Betis was psychologically affected by their situation & attempted to put in a brave game with their local fans hostile with disappointment. Their efforts went draining out as the match progressed while Real Sociedad took control.

The goal & the eventual winner came from Mexican Carlos Vela from the penalty spot in the 48th min. Later Griezmann hit the post in the 54th min for Real Sociedad. Final result 0 - 1 to Real Sociedad.
