REAL MADRID WINS ITS 33RD LIGA TITLE

REAL MADRID has proclaimed themselves Spanish Football - LaLiga - Champions season 2016-2017. The Club needed to win ( or draw ) against Malaga FC & they won 0 - 2 away in a fairly confortable & controlled match.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title

Its the 33rd Spanish League Title for Real Madrid, with another possible title up for grabs on the 3rd of June in Cardiff when they play Juventus FC in the UEFA Champions League Final. If Real Madrid can manage to win this game they will again make history winning back-to-back Champions League title.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title 2016-2017

The goalscorers tonight for Real Madrid were Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2nd min & Benzema in the 55th min.

Real Madrid wins LaLiga Title 2017

Real Madrid finishes the season strong with their star player Cristiano Ronaldo particularly "on fire". The Portuguese has adapted his style & position on the field to be more a Centre Forward than a winger. This has lifted his goal tally in the last matches & has steered his team onto this LaLiga Title. The squad & Coach Zidane has managed the last Round matches well.

Congratulations to Real Madrid!

SPANISH FOOTBALL | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY RESULTS

UEFA Champions League games tonight with two of the four Spanish Football Clubs in Group action. Here are the final results from corresponding encounters along with the goalscorers.

FC Barcelona in Champions League - HAT TRICK

FC Bareclona travelled to Germany to meet Borussia Monchengladbach. The trip was productive winning 0 - 4 & cementing the top position of Group B. Shot in the arm result for Barça after receiving criticism after their last match against Real Madrid in LaLiga, especially Turkish International Arda Turan. The Turk has been in the spotlight for his poor form, attributed by the "bad tongues" to his nocturnal activities.

Tonight Arda Turan shut the bad mouths with a HAT-TRICK. Earlier in the 1º half Messi put Barça ahead in the 17th min.

Germans were out played with the second half uphill for them with an inspired Barça lead by Arda in full motion. The goals fell in the following manner:

  • Messi 17th min
  • Arda Turan 50th min
  • Arda Turan 53rd min
  • Arda Turan 66th min

Champions League

Atletico de Madrid lost 0 - 1 away to Bayern Munich, but still manages to take top spot of Group D. Deserved victory from the Germans who were comfortable the entire game & offered the Football. The winning goal came in the 28th min after Lewandowski executed the perfect free-kick. Unstoppable for Atletico goalie Oblak as it raced into the net with pin-point precision.

Atletico de Madrid did have very clear goal opportunities but missed finding goalie Neuer everytime. Bayern Munich will be disappointed somewhat as they played at a level that perhaps should have prized the team with a goal or two more.

Tomorrow the two remaining Spanish Football Clubs, Real Madrid and Sevilla FC have their Group games.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ROUND 14 LIGA SATURDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football action back today with Round 14 Liga matches. The game that eclipsed all games was the "clasico" between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. We will be giving more space on the post to this encounter between the two best Clubs in World Football. Apart you can see below the final results of today´s other matches along with the goalscorers.

FC Barcelona - Real Madrid

FC Barcelona hosted Real Madrid with a must win objective if they were not to allow the visitors a possible 9 point gap on the Liga classification table. The final result a 1 - 1 draw which keeps things as they were before "el clasico", with a six point difference between both on the Liga table with Real Madrid on top.

A game that went to Real Madrid the first half & to Barça the second half. The added note was that once again Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos did his heroic piece & headed the equalizer in the 90th min to save the match for his team.

Earlier in the 52nd min Luis Suarez managed to put Barça ahead with a header from a Neymar free.kick.

The game was intense with lots of fouls and controversial referee decisions throughout the entire match. Possible penalties due to hand ball to both sides were not called, & some fouls perhaps deserved more sanction. Keeping apart these elements the match was also notable due the absence from the big stars. Messi was average for his team, while Cristiano Ronaldo intermittent and out of touch. Karim Benzema was "totally out" & zero effective, while Neymar, allow playing a part in the first goal, inaccurate & more on the floor than on his feet. Good match from Real Madrid defender Varane ( except the 1º Barça goal), Modric as always & Lucas Vazquez who sacrificed himself for Real Madrid. For Barça Sergi Busquets was outstanding, show again that in his position he is Best, Pique was good while Iniesta impressed in the 2º half.

The good news for FC Barcelona was indeed the return of Captain Andres Iniesta in the second half and to which he contributed positively to the good Barça play. The other side of the coin was James Rodriguez who once again did not get a run & was surpassed by Casemiro, Asensio & young Mariano, the three substitutes. Clear message that the Colombian is not an important piece in this Real Madrid team which now has 34 straight games without defeat.

Conclusion: a typical Barça-Real Madrid game which was intense & physical. Barcelona is showing signs of losing its "total domination" aspect to their Football & maybe are on a slow slide to "normality", while Real Madrid had to do its usual heroics to comeback & save the day. In the end this draw result was more a victory for Real Madrid which saves points & even take one back to Madrid.

Other Liga results:
  • Granada 2 (Andreas, Lomban) - Sevilla FC 1 (Ben Yedder)
Sevilla FC misses a golden chance to cut the points gap with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on the classification table.
  • Leganes 0 - Villarreal 0
Surprise result for Villarreal which is losing steam after a great early start to the season.
  • Atletico de Madrid 0 - RCD Espanyol 0

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 13 SUNDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football and La Liga continued today with more Round 13 matches. Here are the respective final results along with the goalscorers.

Soccer Spain

Atletico de Madrid travelled to Osasuna and needed a win to stay in touch in the Liga race. Their recent losses has pushed them down the classification table & a negative result would have put things uphill for the rest of the season.

The final result Osasuna 0 - Atletico de Madrid 3 with the visitors putting in a good performance that should lift their spirits & aspirations again. The goalscorers were Godin in the 35th min, Gameiro in the 36th min and Carrasco in the 89th min.

Other scores:
  • Celta 3 ( Aspas, Bongonda, Cheika) - Granada 1 (Kravets)
  • Villarreal 0 - Alaves 2 ( Gomez, Camarasa)
Soccer Spain

Bad match by FC Barcelona on a ground that has not been good for them in past seasons. Real Sociedad had a wonderful 1º half but failed to convert their opportunities, & this is not good against Barça. Although they went ahead through Willian Jose in the 52nd min, Barça managed to equalize in the 58th min through Messi.

The match then went into end to end mode...Real Sociedad continued to "sin" in missing their many goal opportunities. FC Barcelona allowed off the hook. Final result 1 - 1.

Next week FC Barcelona plays Real Madrid!

Monday Night Round 13 match:
Las Palmas - Athletic Club Bilbao

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 13 SATURDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football games today with Round 13 of La Liga. Here are the final results of today´s games & all the goalscorers.

Spanish Football

One of the big games today was the Real Madrid - Sporting de Gijon clash. Real Madrid faced the third last placed team with the former attempting to find their "real" form before next weeks huge match with Barça away from home. With some notable injuries: Bale & Varane, Real Madrid was looking to get a good result & in the process get their "Football Machine" fine-tuned. It was a basic disaster.

Bad game, although Real Madrid started well & went up 2 - 0 by the 17th min. Then the machine broke down terribly. The locals lost the midfield & Sporting was allowed to think that they could turn the match around & they nearly did. With heavy rain & a surface that tired most players, Real Madrid was begging for the referee to whistle the end. Not a good sign with Barcelona 7 days away.

Cristiano Ronaldo got Real Madrid on course with a 4th min penalty, followed by a second 17th min goal. The good stuff stopped here as Sporting pulled one back in the 34th min through Carmona. Real Sporting Gijon then had the equalizer mid second half but Cop missed the penalty!

Close call, final result 2 - 1 to Real Madrid.

Other final results
  • Eibar 3 (Leon, Enrich, Kike) - Real Betis 1 (Ruben Castro)
  • Malaga FC 4 (Santos x 2, Sandro, Ontiveros) - Deportivo 3 (Borges x 2 , Andone)
  • RCD Espanyol 3 ( Piatti x 2, Gerard) - Leganes 0

Big game between Sevilla FC & Valencia CF. Very even match with most of the exciting action happening in the second half. Sevilla FC opened through Vitolo in the 54th min after Valencia defender Garay deflected the shot. But Valencia CF managed the equalizer in the 64th min through young Munir. The match intensified thereafter further & it was the visitors that later went ahead in the 74th min when Parejo scored.

Drama in the last minutes as the home side attacked but Valencia managed to surprise the locals & take the valuable 3 points. Final result Sevilla FC 1 - Valencia Cf 2

SPANISH FOOTBALL CLUBS | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULTS

The last two remaining Spanish Football Clubs with UEFA Champions League obligations were in action tonight with the following final results & goalscorers.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona travelled to Glasgow to play Celtic. The final result a 0 - 2 victory for the Spaniards which assures them Group top spot & a place in the next phase of the competition.

Celtic started strong but fizzed out as Barça - with Messi - began taking control. The Argentine scored the opener in the 24th min to dampen the Scottish spirits; then again via a penalty in the 56th min. Barça had more chances (Suarez hit the post) but failed to get the ball into the net.

Things got heated later with Neymar in the centre of things & could have been sent off. The Scottish were frustrated with the result.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico de Madrid defeated PSV Eindhoven 2 - 0 to assure themselves Group top spot & a place in the next phase of Champions League. A relative comfortable night for the locals with PSV putting in a fight until the second half. Although PSV hardly troubled Atletico goalie Oblak, they did defend solidly all the 1º st half.

However, Gameiro opened the can with the first goal in the 55th min, & Griezmann sealed with the second in the 66th min. Match won, secured & Champions on course.

SPANISH FOOTBALL CLUBS | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULTS

UEFA Champions League Group games tonight with two Spanish Football Clubs in action. Here are the final results of both matches with all the goalscorers.

Real Madrid

Sporting Lisbon lost 1 - 2 to Real Madrid & in the process said goodbye to the competition. Real Madrid secures its pass onto the next phase & will decide the Group´s top spot with Borussia Dortmund. However, terrible game from Real Madrid which nearly complicated everything in the latter part of the match.

With Sporting down to 10 men they managed an equalizing with a penalty by Silva in the 80th min & gave the visitors a small fright. The Portuguese side played well all night with quick & dangerous counter-attacks that missed in the final definition. Had Sporting Lisbon been more accurate they could have won this game.

Real Madrid won thanks to two moments...a loose ball in the square that Varane found & scored in the 29th min, & the winner in the 87th min through a Benzema header. Minimum effort with 100% effectiveness.

Good match from Varane & Kovacic.

Sevilla FC lost 1 - 3 to Italian Club Juventus which takes the Group´s top spot. Sevilla FC complicates their pass into the next phase of Champions with this loss. The Spaniards need to at least draw against Lyon in their next game.

Sevilla FC started well with Juventus defending & they scored early in the 9th min through Nico Pareja. But a red card to Fran Vazquez in the 35th min left Sevilla with 10 men & that brought them down. The Juventus equalizer through Marchisio (penalty) in the 45th min was another psychological blow.

The italians slowly grinded their way back into the match during the 2 º half & Bonucci put them ahead in the 84th min. Later Mandzukic sealed things for Juventus in the 93rd min with a third goal for the visitors.

More UEFA Champions League tomorrow with FC Barcelona & Atletico de Madrid in action.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 11

Spanish Football Round 11 of La Liga has given some interesting results. Played over three days, starting with the opener Friday night, the final results have moved around the classification positions in the upper part of the ladder.

The loss of Atletico de Madrid away to Real Sociedad & the victory of Villarreal over Real Betis has changed ladder positions dramatically: see classification on widget.

All the results - with goalscorers - can be see on the widget placed on the right hand side. Here I will summarizes the big two matches this Sunday.

La Liga Spain Soccer

Real Madrid won 3 - 0 fellow city Club Leganes. The man of the match was Gareth Bale with two goals along with the third by Alvaro Morata. The contract renewal by Bale with Real Madrid extra motivated the Welshman who was everywhere & could have gotten his hat-trick had he been more accurate.

Leganes played well considering they haven´t the same "resources" as Real, but Coach Garitano was not happy as he expected more from his team. Good news for Real Madrid with Modric back fron a 40 + day injury space playing 30 mins today.

The win keeps Real Madrid undefeated this season & top of La Liga table.

Spanish Football Best Blog

Top game of Football with FC Barcelona having to work to come back & win 1 - 2 Sevilla FC. Intense start from Sevilla FC which dominated the 1º half & put Barça on the canvass after Vitolo scored the opener in the 14th min.

However, Barça managed to pick themselves up while Sevilla FC missed their chances of another knock-out blow. Messi lifted this team with the equalizer in the 42nd min which psychologically gave wings to Barça.

The 2º half was dominated by Barça as Sevilla suffered their earlier psychical efforts. Luis Suarez put Barça ahead in the 60th min to take control. Sevilla then had chances to equalize but again failed to finish.

Important win for FC Barcelona that avoids rival Real Madrid opening up an important gap in the classification table. The win just keeps the gap to 2 points.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 9 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football today with the Sunday games for Round 9 of La Liga. Following are brief summaries of the final results along with all the goalscorers.

Celta de Vigo - La Liga

Celta de Vigo took the "Galicia Regional" derby winning Deportivo A Coruña 4 - 1. Deserved victory with Celta having all the answers & control. The goals fell in the following order:
  • Mallo 31st min, 1 - 0
  • Albentosa 36th min, 1 - 1
  • Aspas 59th min (penalty), 2 - 1
  • Orellana 77th min, 3 - 1
  • Aspas 82nd min, 4 - 1
The man of the match went to Celta forward Aspas who had his day.

La Liga Spain Soccer

Sevilla FC inflicted the first lost this season for Atletico de Madrid winning 1 - 0. The game was very tactical with everything occurring in the midfield zone. An area saturated with players as both teams were more conservative than adventurous.

However, a brilliant pass mid 2º half from ex-Atletico Vietto found N´Zonzi who got away from the visiting defenders in score the only & winning goal in the 73rd min.

Shortly after Atletico lost Koke to a red card (double yellow) to leave his team down to 10 men. There was no time or way for Atletico to find the equalizer.

Big moral victory for Sevilla FC which finds itself up there in the classification table with the big team. Questioned Sevilla Coach Sampoli wins some credit & prestige.

Soccer Spain LaLiga

Villarreal was pushed by Las Palmas but managed to win in extremis 2 - 1. Although Las Palmas got ahead first through the 30th min goal by Boateng, the talent & class of the Villarreal team came through. Sansone equalized in the 63rd min & Bakambu got the winner in the 91st min.

Spanish Football

Malaga FC was too strong winning Madrid Club Leganes 4 - 0. The goals came in the following order:
  • Jony 39th min, 1 - 0
  • Chory Castro 41st min, 2 - 0
  • Sandro 56th min, 3 - 0
  • Camacho 91st min, 4 - 0
real madrid soccer spain

Real Madrid just got through for a 2 - 1 victory over Athletic Club Bilbao. Lots of chances for both teams, especially Bilbao which failed to finish. Young Athletic forward Iñaki Williams had a couple opportunities missed without explanation. Said this same occurred with Cristiano Ronaldo who is going through a goalless spell, with clear misses that are not habitual. One in the end which was unexplainable.

Real Madrid dominated most play but made many mistakes defensively & in their passing that always allowed the visitors to get back into the game.

Real Madrid opened the scoring through Benzema from a pin point pass from Isco in the 7th min. Bilbao then put in a great spell of Football earning the equalizer in the 26th min through Sabin. The match was then wide open with end to end play & opportunities for both teams. Real Madrid began losing control in the 2º half which made Coach Zidane make changes Lucas Vazquez (for Isco) & Morata (for Benzema).

The winner came in the 82nd min when Gareth Bale passed to find Morata who scored after scrambling from his first attempt to get the ball into the net.

Real Madrid maintains top spot of La Liga classification table, but their game tonight was not at all good & could have been easily a loss.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LALIGA ROUND 9 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football action today with Round 9 games of LaLiga scheduled. Here are brief summaries of the matches along with goalscorers & all of today´s final results.

As usual Round 9 of Liga kicked off with the Friday night game between Osasuna & Real Betis. The match was a cliff-hanger with a final result 1 - 2 in favour of Real Betis. The visitors managed the winner in the 90th min through Felipe Gonzalez. Earlier Joaquin put Betis ahead in the 18th min, while Osasuna managed to equalize in the 47th min through Roberto Torres.

Much needed victory for Betis as Coach Gustavo Poyet was under extreme pressure to get back on the victory trail.

LaLiga Spanish Football

Great game with a heroic comeback included from RCD Espanyol which a last minute drew 3 - 3 with Eibar. The game was heroic because Espanyol was down 0 - 3 by half time & down to 10 men when Caicedo was sent off with a red card. Caicedo lasted 10 mins after coming on & may have halted the home-side victory.

Here are all the goals:
  • Enrich 22min, 0 -1
  • Diego Reyes (o.g) 26 min, 0 - 2
  • Kike 43rd min, 0 - 3
  • Hernan Perez 63rd min, 1 - 3
  • Piatti 72nd min, 2 - 3
  • Baptistao 91st min, 3 - 3
Spanish Liga FC Barcelona

The Valencia CF & FC Barcelona match finished in controversy after numerous incidents & a last minute penalty (which was) awarded to Barça which gave them the 2 - 3 victory. Valencia & Club directives exploded post match with harsh criticism directed towards referee Undiano. New Valencia CF Coach Italian Prandelli expressed the favouritism received by the major Clubs in Spanish Football. The first Barça goal was given to Messi with Suarez clearly off-side, this was the fuel the ignited the rest of the match.

FC Barcelona was also not happy with the referee either, especially with the tough play exhibited by the home side. In one of those aggressive play ocassions Barça Captain Andres Iniesta received a strong tackle by Valencia midfielder Perez which caused a serious knee injury to Iniesta. Diagnostics state a partial knee ligament injury that with retire Iniesta from the playing field until 2017.

Here are the goals:

  • Messi 21st min, 0 - 1
  • Munir 51st min, 1 - 1
  • Rodrigo 55th min, 2 - 1
  • Suarez 61st min, 2 - 2
  • Messi (penalty) 90th min, 2 - 3
FC Barcelona got through today by a hair, while Valencia lost but look better than in passed Liga matches.

Spanish Soccer

Real Sociedad was relatively comfortable in their game with Alaves winning 3 - 0. The goals fell in the following order:
  • Xavi Prieto 22nd min, 1 - 0
  • Willian Jose 52nd min, 2 - 0
  • Carlos Vela 86th min, 3 - 0

Real Sporting Gijon 0 - Granada 0

SPANISH FOOTBALL | UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULTS

UEFA Champions League night with two Spanish Football Clubs scheduled with Group qualifiers. Here is a brief summary of both teams, along with the goalscorers & final results.

Real Madrid Champions League

Real Madrid hosted Polish Club Legla of Warsaw & won 5 - 1. A good result with moments of ordinary & slack play by the Spaniards. The Real defence was stretched & stressed by the Poles during periods as the more offensive Real Madrid midfield ( Asensio / James Rodriguez) set up tonight tore the midfield in half to give Legla spaces. The mentioned midfielders are not accustomed to defending in block & at times left wide open Toni Kroos.

Coach Zidane "fixed" this mid 2º half with Lucas Vazquez & Morata coming on when Real Madrid was most suffering.

But Real Madrid has more stars & World Class players which were enough to defeat an enthusiastic but average Polish team. Legla created chances but did not finish with their only goal a penalty from a "silly" Danilo tackled.

Here are how the goals fell:

1-0 Bale (16')
2-0 Jodlowiec (o.g.)(19')
2-1 Radovic (21')
3-1 Asensio (37')
4-1 Lucas Vázquez (68')
5-1 Morata (84')

Cristiano Ronaldo had a terrible night ( relatively ) with goal, missing some clear chances. But tonight his big achievement were his assists - up to 3 - which at a collective level is excellent.

Uefa Champions League Sevilla FC

Excellent win by Sevilla FC 0 - 1 away to Dynamo Zagreb. The Spaniards were superior to the Croatian team who looked good at the latter part of the encounter.

On loan player Nasri was the star tonight scoring the winner in the 31st min. The problematic player appears to be finding a "new opportunity" with Sevilla which is good news.

Vietto missed a clear opportunity for Sevilla for the 2º goal. Sevilla is close to securing next phase Champions League qualification.

BARÇA - REAL MADRID 2016 GAME | DATE & TIME

Its the most anticipated & biggest Football game in World Soccer, "El Clasico" between Spanish Football Clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF. These are the games that habitually eventually settle the outcome of the Liga Championship. A victory over the eternal rival enables one or the other a sufficient points margin for the Championship title.

Spanish Football - El Clasico

Today the first of the Liga 2016 - 2017 season "El Clasico" games has been announced. Take note:

FC Barcelona - Real Madrid

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 7 RESULTS

Spanish Football action this weekend with Round 7 scheduled Liga matches. The full scores are on the widget on the right-hand side of this blog. Following on the top three games of this Sunday will be reviewed: Atletico de Madrid, Real Madrid & FC Barcelona.

LA LIGA SPAIN SOCCER

Valencia CF hosted Atletico de Madrid & lost 0 - 2. Deserved victory by Atletico that could have won by a bigger scoreline had not Valencia goalkeeper Alves stopped TWO penalties. Alves stopped Griezmann & later Gabi from converting into goal extending his Liga record with the most penalties stopped.

The first goal came from Griezmann in the 63rd min, with the second late in the 92nd min from Gameiro

REAL MADRID LA LIGA

Real Madrid drew 1 - 1 with Eibar. Its their 5th straight drawn result & this is raising a few question at Real Madrid. James Rodriguez injured himself in the warm-up & his spot was taken by Kovacic, Modric was operated today on his knee & will be out for a month at least while Casemiro is still recovering from a facture. These injuries, especially the last two have unbalanced the team & Real Madrid is struggling to find the correct mix. Added, Karim Benzema continues to be out of form & the goals are not coming.

Eibar, need to be credited, good match by the visitors who were tactically disciplined & well coordinated defensively. Pedro Leon shinned for them in this game making a return to his ex-Club

Eibar opened the scoring with a Fran Rico 5th min goal, but Real Madrid managed to equalize after Cristiano Ronaldo found magnificently the head of Gareth Bale in the 16th min. Bale later hit the post with another header in the second half.

Real Madrid looked desperately for the winner in the latter part of the game but could not find the last touch to convert into goal.

LA LIGA SPAIN FOOTBALL

Celta de Vigo defeated FC Barcelona 4 - 3 in an exciting game. Barça was overtaken by Celta in the first half that included some elementary mistakes from the Barça players.

In the second half Barcelona attempted the comeback with Pique converting himself into a Centre Forward & even scoring twice. But a monumental mistake by Barça goalie Ter Stegan that allowed Pablo Hernandez to score the 4th goal for Celta & poured cold water over the Barça comeback attempt.

From the point of view of Celta, an excellent performance that rewards their aesthetic & ball control style of play. Barça fell victim to their many self incurred on-field mistakes for which they paid dearly.

Goals:
  • Pione Sisto 21st min, 1 - 0
  • Aspes 30th min, 2 - 0
  • Mathieu (own goal) 32nd min, 3 - 0
  • Pique 57th min, 3 - 1
  • Neymar (penalty) 63rd min, 3 - 2
  • Pablo Hernandez 76th min, 4 - 2
  • Pique 86th min, 4 - 3

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE | SPANISH TEAMS WEDNESDAY RESULTS

UEFA Champions League continued tonight with the last two Spanish Football representatives in action. Here are their final results along with the goalscorers.

Spanish Football Champions League

Atletico de Madrid defeated 1 - 0 Bayern Munich in their Group game. Deserved victory for At. Madrid which created more opportunities although they failed to convert into more goals. They had numerous shots at goal, Fernando Torres hit the post & Griezmann missed a penalty in the 83rd min.

The only goal of the match, & the winner, came in the 35th min when Yannick Carrasco fired home to beat Bayern goalkeeper Neuer.

Bayern had their chances but At. Madrid goalkeeper Oblak was solid & alert, while defenders Savic & Godin were outstanding. Great overall teamwork from the Spanish team with a perfect tactical set up that did not allow the Germans space or time to breathe.

Important victory for Atletico & a psychological table fist smashing gesture that injects moral & confidence for the rest of the Group games.

Champions League

Borussia Monchangladbach lost 1 - 2 to FC Barcelona in their Group encounter. The Germans got ahead first in the 34th min through Hazard & had the Spaniards on the back foot. But the individual talents of Barça came to the surface & they managed to pull the team back together. Without the magic of Messi , Barça had to work harder to create their goal chances.

The goals however came in the 63rd min when Arda Turan equalized, & the winner came in the 73rd min through defender Gerard Pique.

Good play by the Germans, but Barça managed to turn things around.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY RESULTS

UEFA Champions League games with two Spanish Football Clubs in action with Group duties. Here are all of the corresponding final results of the Spanish Clubs along with the goalscorers.

Spanish Football

German territory is traditionally not an easy destiny for Spanish Football Clubs in the way of results. Real Madrid has always found it stiff in their visit with tonight being no different. The final result Borussia Dortmund 2 - Real Madrid 2, a just result with the Germans being very awkward & solid.

Real Madrid has some important players out of form. Karim Benzema should have not played at all - terrible - with Morata a better option. Although Cristiano Ronaldo scored he is below his usual best & was so & so. Sergio Ramos has to do more work as he made some elementary mistakes tonight which are unacceptable.
Best players for Real Madrid was goalkeeper Keylor Navas, even if the first Dortmund goal was his fault with a bad punch-out, along with Modric who was outstanding with Toni Kroos & defender/goalscorer Varane

For Borussia a good team effort, very quick & dangerous in their attacks. Castro was active, Dembele dangerous, Ambameyang had goal in his mind & substitute Schurrle drove in the late equalizer. The German will be happy with their effort & the result.

Real Madrid experience their 3rd draw result in a row. Disappointing from their perspective, too many mistakes from key players & some stars should not be playing at all with other more capable on the bench. Said this, how do you sit Ronaldo?

Goals:

  • Cristiano Ronaldo 17th min, 0 - 1
  • Ambameyang 43rd min, 1 - 1
  • Varane 69th min, 1 - 2
  • Schurrle 86th min, 2 -2
Champions League

Sevilla FC turned on a great 2º half to win 1 - 0 French Club Olympique Lyon. Bad first half from Sevilla with their crowd booing them off. However, things changed in the 2º half.

Sevilla opener & winner came in the 52 min through Ben Yedder. Later Sevilla FC missed a penalty that Vietto flew over the bar. Lyon hit the post to add excitement & the end become a see-saw event.

Sevilla held out with true courage. Great result for them.

Tomorrow Champions League continues with the remaining two other Spanish Football Clubs in action: Atletico de Madrid (Bayern Munich) & FC Barcelona ( B.Mglad).

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 6 SUNDAY RESULTS

The remaining scheduled Round 6 La Liga games (except Alaves-Granada on Monday) were played today with the following final results & goalscorers.

La Liga Valencia CF

Madrid Club Leganes lost 1 - 2 to Valencia CF. Valencia fired their Coach & have reacted with a win which slowly lifts them up the Liga ladder after sitting last. Valencia goalkeeper Alves again stopped a penalty to secure his teams victory making him Spanish Football top penalty stopper historic 17 penalties halted in Liga. The goals came in the following order:
  • Alexander 20th min, 1 - 0
  • Nani 33rd min, 1 - 1
  • Mario Suarez 51 min , 1 - 2
The match had 8 yellow cards!

La Liga Spain Soccer

Atletico de Madrid pounded on a Deportivo A Coruña mistake to win 1 - 0. A costly victory for Atleti with a serious knee injury to midfielder Augusto & to defender Gimenez with a muscle injury. The saviour for Atletico was again Frenchman Griezmann who scored in the 69th min to secure the 3 points.  Deportivo mentioned at the end of the match for the very aggressive attitude of Atletico , but it was they who lost a man to a red card. Both teams very intense.

Spanish Football

Villarreal continue their excellent ways winning Osasuna 3 - 1. The damaged was done in the first half with three goals by the home team. Osasuna reacted with their goal but the match maintained the result until the end. The goals:
  • Pato 4th min, 1 - 0
  • Bruno 23rd min (penalty), 2 - 0

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL SATURDAY ROUND 6 RESULTS

Spanish Football weekend with Round 6 of La Liga. Today the Saturday matches scheduled with some top games. Here are all the final results along with the corresponding match goalscorers.

Round 6 kicked off with the Friday Night game between Real Betis & Malaga FC. The final score 1 - 0 to Betis with a goal header from Joaquin in the 24th min. Malaga was not happy with the referee decisions as they claimed a penalty not called.

Spanish Soccer

Eibar hosted Real Sociedad & won 2 - 0. Good match from both but the luck seemed to be on the side of the locals. Goals from Bebe in the 56th min & an own goal from Real Sociedad midfielder Illaramendi in the 65th min. Pedro Leon missed a penalty for Eibar early in the match.

La Liga Soccer

FC Barcelona travelled to Real Sporting de Gijon without Messi who is injured. Barça did fine without the Argentinian astro winning 0 - 5. FC Barcelona was superior to Gijon & was even more so after Sporting de Gijon went down to 10 men in the 2º half when Lora was sent off with a red card. Goals fell in the following order:
  • Luis Suarez 28th min
  • Rafinha 31st min
  • Neymar 80th min
  • Arda Turan 84th min
  • Neymar 87th min
Spanish Football

Athletic Club Bilbao defeated Sevilla FC 3 - 1. Its the 4th straight win for Bilbao which are on a roll. Bilbao deserved the win as Sevilla FC were below past performances. Their only goal came from on-loan player Nasri in the 54th min. The Bilbao goals came from San Jose in the 25th min, Balenziaga in the 65th min & a penalty coverted by Aduriz in the 89th min.

Real Madrid La Liga

Las Palmas drew 2 - 2 to Real Madrid in a very entertaining match. Las Palmas do put forward a very confident Football style. Touch Football which is pleasing to the eye & very effective in execution as they took their limited chances.

Real Madrid on the other hand created multiple goal occasions & missed the majority, something they later paid for as the Madrid Club could not shut the match. Las Palmas comeback twice with a lax Real Madrid defensive line when they were ahead.

Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off in the 70th min after the Real Madrid second goal & his face was a picture, more so after Las Palmas scored the equalizer.

The goals came in the following order:

  • Asensio 33rd min, 0 - 1
  • Tana 37th min, 1 - 1
  • Benzema 66th min, 1 - 2
  • Araujo 84th min , 2 - 2
Great result for Las Palmas which was rewarded for their bravery & consistency, while a big slip for Real Madrid which allows FC Barcelona to shut them on the ladder after they won their game earlier today against Gijon. The difference is now just 1º point between Real Madrid & Barcelona.

More Round 6 La Liga games tomorrow.

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 5 MID WEEK

Spanish Football is celebrating Round 5 of La Liga this mid-week. Games are spread over the three days ( Tues - Thurs ) with today scheduling the top level matches. The widget on the right side of the blog gives you all the results, here we will summarize the today´s two big matches.

La Liga Spanish Football

Real Madrid drew 1 - 1 to Villarreal in a surprise result. Real Madrid were not as sharp as past games while Villarreal is a good team that pushed the home side tonight. Some of the local big names were below par like Cristiano Ronaldo & Bale, while Real Madrid also missed Modric & Casemiro out for this clash.

The first goal came through a penalty that Villarreal Captain Bruno converted in the 45th min after Sergio Ramos hand-balled in the goal area. Previously to this Real Madrid lost Marcelo to injury.

Sergio Ramos made up for his "mistake" in the 47th min when he headed the equalizer goal from a corner. From here Real Madrid attempted to make a heroic effort to grab the 3 points but Villarreal held firm to secure the draw, especially a Sergio Asenjo save from a Morata header.

La Liga Soccer

The other Top Liga game between FC Barcelona & Atletico Madrid ended in a 1 - 1 draw. The first half went to Barça´s favour with more ball control & chances. It was FC Barcelona which scored first with a Ratikic header in the 40th min.

The "moment" came when Messi was substituted injured. Barcelona lost momentum & Atletico brought on Fernando Torres & Correa. Both interchanged touches in the 60th min & Correa scored the equalizer

Both teams then attempted the winner but fell short.

Names to mention, Iniesta & Pique outstanding for Barça, while Neymar was non-existent. For Atletico the defenders Godin, Savic & Juan Fran were solid & excellent.

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 4 SUNDAY GAMES RESULT

Round 4 of La Liga continued today with 4 scheduled matches. Here are all the final results along with the goalscorers.

Spanish Liga Soccer

Entertaining game between Osasuna & Celta de Vigo that ended in a 0 - 0 draw. Lots of goal opportunities, especially for Celta which was not able to finish them off. Shared points.

La Liga

Atletic Club Bilbao defeated 2 - 1 Valencia CF. Crisis at Valencia which sits at the bottom of the Liga classification table without a victory. Terrible start to the season from Valencia which may see heads roll in coming days.

Although Valencia CF got ahead early in the 1st min through Medran, Bilbao reacted through an inspired Aduriz who scored in the 21st & 24th min to secure the victory. The Valencia defence did not help either, very bad today.

Spanish Football Liga

Villarreal managed a worked & deserved 2 - 1 victory over Real Sociedad. The home side started strong with more intensity & were rewarded with two goals from Sansone ( 21st & 24th min ). Real Sociedad finally reacted and managed to pull one back in the 34th min through Yuri. From here a few more chances but Villarreal held strong.

Spanish Soccer La Liga

RCD Espanyol went down 0 - 2 to Real Madrid. It´s the 16th straight win for Coach Zidane equalling the record held by Pep Guardiola when with Barcelona. A worked victory for Real Madrid, without Cristiano Roanldo nor Bale, & early in the match without Casemiro who received a knock & was substituted for Toni Kroos.

RCD Espanyol had their chances & put Real Madrid under pressure a few times but keeper Kiko Casilla was great with some outstanding interventions.

The goals came from James Rodriguez who started today with his 45+2 min goal, along with the second goal from a Lucas Vazquez pass that Karim Benzema knocked into the back of the net in the 70th min.
