LA LIGA RETURNS 11 JUNE

Many thought that it would not have been possible, that the Spanish Football season was over due to the CO VID-19 crisis. However, the better than expected control of the pandemic & reduction of the local spread of the virus has made the situation good enough to open up LA LIGA & take-off where it left off before shut-down.

The Spanish Liga season resumens the 11 of June with the Seville Classic "Sevilla FC - Real Betis", with the rest of the scheduled match continuing the following days. Below are the schedules for Round 28 & Round 29 of LA LIGA.

As you can see the fixture is very tight with matches nearly everyday & weekly in order to make up with lost time, plus attempt to finish the season (11 Rounds still to be played).

All matches are to be played under extremely higiene control conditions & in empty stadiums (no crowds). The main objective is to avoid CO-VID 19 contact & spread between players & within the Clubs, as an announced infection would put in quarantine the whole Club/s in question for 14 days.

So good news for Spanish Football, La Liga & fans. Lets hope things run smoothly with risks with health being the main objective.

Congratulations FC BARCELONA!

ZINEDINE ZIDANE LEAVES REAL MADRID

It´s the big news piece of today in Spanish Football, REAL MADRID Coach-Manager ZINEDINE ZIDANE has announced that he will NOT manage the team next season. The decision has been mediated & announced to Club President Florentino Perez yesterday to which it was made public this midday in a packed Press Conference. Real Madrid President Perez was visibly affected while Zidane transmitted an "air" of relief.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE

The official reason given by Zidane is that it was the correct moment to leave as he believes that the team needs new direction, a new motivational message & new ideas in order to keep on winning. After 3 years of titles & in particular 3 Champions League Titles in a row, Zidane feels that he cannot secure 100% this tendency & parts himself from Coaching the team.

He revealed that he has no intention of Coaching next season & will always be near to Real Madrid as it is the Football Club of his life. Added to this he highlighted his greatest moment was winning the Spanish Football League title - La Liga - while is hardest moment was when his team was eliminated from the Spanish Cup by Leganes this season. The demands & the expectations of success at Real Madrid are so strong that the pressure manages to erode most players & Coaches.

Although this is a hard blow for the Real Madrid Directives & team catching everyone totally by surprise the Club has began moving on to replace Zidane. Already there are names doing the rumour circuit: Mauricio Pochettino (Nº1 candidate), Joachim Löw, Klopp, Wenger & ex player Guti. These are at this moment pure speculation although Pochettino & Low have sounded previously.

Zinedine Zidane has also sounded as a future Selector-Coach for the France National Team. This will all depend on the performance by France in the coming World Cup Finals in Russia next month. A terrible performance & elimination will put the spotlight again on Zidane for France.

Stay tuned!

LA LIGA MATCH OF THE DAY RESULT | VALENCIA 1 FC BARCELONA 1

The big Round 13 Spanish Liga game between second placed VALENCIA CF & current leaders FC BARCELONA finished with a 1 - 1 final result. A match that had intensity & some very controversial moments & decisions, the main one being a disallowed goal (as in the image below) to Barça that was legal.

Just to remind readers LaLiga has´nt VAR & will introduce next season, but the image illustrates the need to introduce the technology as quackly as possible. This erroneous decision cost FC Barcelona a victory & another 2 points.

Spanish laliga football

The game was very serious & tactical as one can expect from the two currently most inform teams. Valencia CF had the advantage of the home support that stirred them on. Even in their most complex moments, when tiredness came into the teams equation, the local crowd gave Valencia wings. It was evident in the last 5 mins of the match when Valencia looked for the victory & had the victory in their grasp had Zaza not missed an obvious opportunity in front of goal.

Although Valencia played well, in my opinion, Barça was better in general managing the more complicated moments of the match. Lionel Messi was determinate again & from his boot came the pass that found Jordi Alba to score the equalizer.

Goalscorers tonight:
  • Rodrigo 60th min, 1- 0
  • Jordi Alba 82nd min, 1 - 1

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 15 SATURDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football rolling this weekend with Round 15 of La Liga. Here are all of today´s final results along with all the goalscorers.

Round 15 kicked off Friday night with the draw result:
  • Malaga 1 (Camacho) - Granada 1 (Kravets)
LaLiga Spanish football

Osasuna hosted FC Barcelona & lost 0 - 3. The locals held out until Luis Suarez opened the can & then Lionel Messi got inspired. His two goals of artistic execution steered & then sealed the game for Barça who manages to add three valuable points in their classification chase with Real Madrid.

Goals:
  • Luis Suarez 58th min
  • Lionel Messi 71st min
  • Lionel Messi 91st min
Spanish Soccer

Real Sociedad defeated 3 - 2 Valencia CF to further accentuate the "bad vibes" at Valencia. Although Valencia CF goalie Diego Alves stopped a penalty (another), his heroics was not enough to avoid the loss.

Days before Valencia Coach Prandelli heavily criticised his players for the lack of intensity & commitment. Surely it was a motivational tactic but again luck nor their Football were effective.

Real Sociedad took advantage of a "soft" Valencia early & was already up 2 goals by the 23rd min. From then it was all extra efforts, frustrations & anxiety as Valencia fought to get back in. But Real Sociedad managed the situation.

Goals:
  • Willian Jose 1st min, 1 - 0
  • Willian Jose 23st min , 2 - 0
  • Parejo 35th min , 2 - 1
  • Juanmi 90th min, 3 - 1
  • Bakkali 92nd min, 3 - 2
 Las Palmas 1 (Livaja 21st m) - Leganes 1 (Guerrero 75th min).

Spanish Football La Liga

Real Madrid was saved once again in the last minute by Sergio Ramos to win a tough & gritty Deportivo A Coruña 3 - 2. Its the 35th straight win by Real Madrid & takes them off to Japan to play the FIFA World Clubs Championships with a 6 point lead at the top of the Liga classification table over Barça.

Real Madrid went in with 8 changes, including leaving out the likes of Ronaldo, Benzema, Modric etc., thus giving a run to those who sit more on the bench: Morata, James, Nacho, Asensio etc. Deportivo was solid in defence & dangerous when given their opportunities.

All the action occurred in the 2º half with Morata opening the scoreline for Real Madrid. However, very "stupid" defensive errores (especially the first by Casemiro) allowed Deportivo to score two quick goals to shock the locals.

Real Madrid Coach Zidane reacted & brought on Lucas Vazquez, young Mariano & Marcelo & changed the defence to 3 defenders. The comeback began with Mariano heading ( hit the shoulder) the equalizer & Ramos headed the winner in the last minute from a corner.

Once again heroics & heart-attacks for local supporters. Goals fell in this order:

  • Morata 49th min, 1 - 0
  • Joselu 62nd , 1 - 1
  • Joselu 64th min, 1 - 2
  • Mariano 83rd min, 2 - 2
  • Sergio Ramos 91st min, 3 - 2

SPANISH FOOTBALL | ROUND 14 LIGA SATURDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football action back today with Round 14 Liga matches. The game that eclipsed all games was the "clasico" between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. We will be giving more space on the post to this encounter between the two best Clubs in World Football. Apart you can see below the final results of today´s other matches along with the goalscorers.

FC Barcelona - Real Madrid

FC Barcelona hosted Real Madrid with a must win objective if they were not to allow the visitors a possible 9 point gap on the Liga classification table. The final result a 1 - 1 draw which keeps things as they were before "el clasico", with a six point difference between both on the Liga table with Real Madrid on top.

A game that went to Real Madrid the first half & to Barça the second half. The added note was that once again Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos did his heroic piece & headed the equalizer in the 90th min to save the match for his team.

Earlier in the 52nd min Luis Suarez managed to put Barça ahead with a header from a Neymar free.kick.

The game was intense with lots of fouls and controversial referee decisions throughout the entire match. Possible penalties due to hand ball to both sides were not called, & some fouls perhaps deserved more sanction. Keeping apart these elements the match was also notable due the absence from the big stars. Messi was average for his team, while Cristiano Ronaldo intermittent and out of touch. Karim Benzema was "totally out" & zero effective, while Neymar, allow playing a part in the first goal, inaccurate & more on the floor than on his feet. Good match from Real Madrid defender Varane ( except the 1º Barça goal), Modric as always & Lucas Vazquez who sacrificed himself for Real Madrid. For Barça Sergi Busquets was outstanding, show again that in his position he is Best, Pique was good while Iniesta impressed in the 2º half.

The good news for FC Barcelona was indeed the return of Captain Andres Iniesta in the second half and to which he contributed positively to the good Barça play. The other side of the coin was James Rodriguez who once again did not get a run & was surpassed by Casemiro, Asensio & young Mariano, the three substitutes. Clear message that the Colombian is not an important piece in this Real Madrid team which now has 34 straight games without defeat.

Conclusion: a typical Barça-Real Madrid game which was intense & physical. Barcelona is showing signs of losing its "total domination" aspect to their Football & maybe are on a slow slide to "normality", while Real Madrid had to do its usual heroics to comeback & save the day. In the end this draw result was more a victory for Real Madrid which saves points & even take one back to Madrid.

Other Liga results:
  • Granada 2 (Andreas, Lomban) - Sevilla FC 1 (Ben Yedder)
Sevilla FC misses a golden chance to cut the points gap with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on the classification table.
  • Leganes 0 - Villarreal 0
Surprise result for Villarreal which is losing steam after a great early start to the season.
  • Atletico de Madrid 0 - RCD Espanyol 0

LA LIGA | SPANISH FOOTBALL ROUND 5 MID WEEK

Spanish Football is celebrating Round 5 of La Liga this mid-week. Games are spread over the three days ( Tues - Thurs ) with today scheduling the top level matches. The widget on the right side of the blog gives you all the results, here we will summarize the today´s two big matches.

La Liga Spanish Football

Real Madrid drew 1 - 1 to Villarreal in a surprise result. Real Madrid were not as sharp as past games while Villarreal is a good team that pushed the home side tonight. Some of the local big names were below par like Cristiano Ronaldo & Bale, while Real Madrid also missed Modric & Casemiro out for this clash.

The first goal came through a penalty that Villarreal Captain Bruno converted in the 45th min after Sergio Ramos hand-balled in the goal area. Previously to this Real Madrid lost Marcelo to injury.

Sergio Ramos made up for his "mistake" in the 47th min when he headed the equalizer goal from a corner. From here Real Madrid attempted to make a heroic effort to grab the 3 points but Villarreal held firm to secure the draw, especially a Sergio Asenjo save from a Morata header.

La Liga Soccer

The other Top Liga game between FC Barcelona & Atletico Madrid ended in a 1 - 1 draw. The first half went to Barça´s favour with more ball control & chances. It was FC Barcelona which scored first with a Ratikic header in the 40th min.

The "moment" came when Messi was substituted injured. Barcelona lost momentum & Atletico brought on Fernando Torres & Correa. Both interchanged touches in the 60th min & Correa scored the equalizer

Both teams then attempted the winner but fell short.

Names to mention, Iniesta & Pique outstanding for Barça, while Neymar was non-existent. For Atletico the defenders Godin, Savic & Juan Fran were solid & excellent.

REAL MADRID WINS ITS 11 TH EUROPEAN - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE CUP

Spanish Football Club Real Madrid defeated fellow city & country Club Atletico de Madrid 5-3 (1-1 after 90 mins) in the penalty shoot out of the Final of the UEFA Champions League

Its the 11th European Cup for Real Madrid & it furthers their legendary heritage in this competition. At. Madrid losses its 3rd final in "unlucky" circumstances & also lengthens its "bad streak" in this competition.

Either team deserved to win, both played to their limits but the penalty shoot out is like a "casino" & a miss by At. Madrid defender Juanfran - hitting the post - was the equilibrium breaker. The winner came from Cristiano Ronaldo who seems to be destined to shine in these important Football occasions.

Real Madrid Champions League winners team photo

Real Madrid started well & scored first when a free kick flicked on by Bale found Sergio Ramos in the 15th min to score. After closer look the Real Madrid defender was off-side but the goal stood. From here onwards At. Madrid slowly pulled themselves back into the game & took control.

Sergio Ramos goal Champions Final 2016

In the 2º half Atletico Coach Simeone made an important substitution putting on Carrasco for Augusto. This gave Atletico more punch up forward eventual winning a penalty which unfortunately Griezmann missed hitting the bar. Not phased Atletico continued attacking & the equalizer came from a Jaunfran pass that found Carrasco in the far post in the 79th min.

Carrasco goal Champions Final 2016

The match went into extra-time & players from both teams began falling like flies with muscle cramps & from fatigue. Players from both teams like Bale, Modric, Koke, Luis Felipe ... were basically out of action while the fresh substitutes like Vazquez, Danilo, Carrasco etc pulled the cart. Few more opportunities not taken appeared for both teams that ended in the "dreaded" penalty shoot out stage.

The equilibrium breaker was when Atletico defender Juanfran failed his penalty hitting the post. This allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to score the winner straight after to take Real Madrid onto its 11th European-Champions League title.

Congratulations to Real Madrid, & very proud of Atletico Madrid. The overall winner is Spanish Football.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LIGA RESULTS SATURDAY ROUND 35

Spanish Football action with Round 35 of Spanish Liga scheduled, with FC Barcelona, At.Madrid & Real Madrid needing to win in order to maintain any chance of having & keeping alive their Spanish League Title hopes. Here are today´s final results & all the goalscorers

Soccer Spain

Las Palmas are putting in a great end of season notching up a victory 4 - 0 over RCD Espanyol in the Round 35 Friday night opener. Las Palmas gets away from the dangerous relegation zone while Espanyol drops closer to the danger area.

Total control & dominance by Las Palmas with goals from:
  • El Zhar 45th min, 1 - 0
  • Jonathan 48th min, 2 - 0
  • Bigas 55th min, 3 - 0
  • Wakaso 76th min, 4 - 0
Spain Football

Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano hosted Real Madrid & lost 2 - 3. Both Clubs needed points, the home side to secure their presence in Liga next season while Real Madrid to stay alive the Liga title race.

Real Madrid left Cristiano Roanldo at home to rest, while Sergio Ramos & Modric were on the bench. This may have allowed Rayo to exploit the "unaccustomed" situation & they started on fire. Rapidly they put Real Madrid on the ropes with an opening goal from Embarba in the 6th min & Miku in the 13th min.

Nerves & doubts began racing through the Real Madrid side as they began seeing how the Liga title may slip this afternoon. However, Garath Bale took control & gave his side wings scoring in the 34th min. The Welshman was the key today for the Real Madrid victory along with Isco & Lucas Vazquez who headed the equalizer in the 51st min.

Rayo then made some silly mistakes which allowed Bale to steal a ball from a failed Rayo pass to score the winner in the 81st min. Rayo nearly have the equalizer in the end but the Real Madrid defence deflected over the bar.

Close call for Real Madrid which work very hard to get their 3 points. Rayo will be upset for making mistakes in critical moments, & they were punished.

At Madrid Soccer Spain

Atletico Madrid managed to win 1 - 0 a very stick Malaga FC to maintain themselves in the race for the Spanish Liga title. Very tense affair, lots of nerves & even doubt as At Madrid kept smashing into the Malaga "wall".

At Madrid Coach Simeone was overwhemled by the pressure & was sent off by the referee as he disputed most of the controversial (in his mind) decisions. However, young Argentine forward Correa broke through in the 62 nd min to put Atletico ahead & eventually secure the three points. Vital win for At.Madrid.

Spanish Football

FC Barcelona also does not fail & keeps the top spot of La Liga ladder after defeating Real Sporting de Gijon 6 - 0. The latter hangs in the relegation zone & is now fighting for its Liga survival.

Barça relatively dominated the encounter with some moments of lapses that allowed Sporting Gijon to create chances that they failed to convert. However Gijon was overrun in the latter part of the match by Barça. Again Luis Suarez scored four goals again & practically races away in the Liga & European Golden Boot tally. The match had a peculiarity in that the last 3 goals were penalties

Goalscorers:
  • Messi 39th min, 1 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 64th min, 2 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 74th min penalty, 3 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 77th min penalty, 4 - 0
  • Neymar 86th min penalty, 5 - 0
  • Luis Suarez 88th min, 6 - 0

Eibar 1 (Adrian 7th min)- Deportivo A Coruña 1 (Cartabia 70th min)

LA LIGA | ROUND 32 SUNDAY SPANISH FOOTBALL RESULTS

Spanish Football continued today with Round 32 of Liga with 4 scheduled matches. Here are the final results along with the goalscorers.

Celta de Vigo

Real Sporting de Gijon hosted Celta de Vigo & lost 0 - 1. Gijon get themselves back into trouble sitting in the dangerous part of the classification table. The locals missed clear opportunities & were punished when Nolito scored for Celta in the 64th min.

Liga Soccer

Valencia CF won in the last minute 2 - 1 Sevilla FC. Vital win for them as they were serious looking down the "barrel" of the relegation zone. Sevilla FC finished unhappy, claiming two "supposed" clear penalties not called on their forward Fernando Llorente.

Valencia Captain Parejo opened the scoring with a superb free-kick goal in the 40th min. Thereafter an intense match which saw Sevilla equalize through Gameiro in the 87th min. Then the "miracle" occurred for Valencia when in a goal square mess up Alvaro Negredo scored the winner in the 92nd min. Practically blew the roof off the stadium.

villarreal soccer

Villarreal further consolidates its 4th position on the Liga ladder after defeating Madrid Club Getafe 2 - 0. The 1º st half was even, but the 2º half tipped the way of the home team which dominated. The goals came through Denis Suarez in the 14th min & the second through Bakumbu in the 84th min.

Athletic Club Bilbao 1 (Williams 61st min) - Rayo Vallecano 0

MONDAY NIGHT ROUND 32 GAME
Deportivo A Coruña - Las Palmas

LA LIGA | ROUND 32 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football today with Round 32 Liga matches scheduled. Here are all the respective final results - including surprise result - along with today´s goalscorers.

Soccer Spain

Round 32 of Liga opened with the Friday night match between Granada - Malaga which ended in a 0 - 0 final result & draw. Bad result for Granada which hangs dangerously close to the relegation zone of the Liga ladder, while Malaga get another valuable point to precisely avoid this area.

La Liga

Real Madrid won 4 - 0 Eibar in a match which was a confidence booster seeing they have to make a "dramatic" comeback back next Tuesday against Wolfsburg in Champions League. Real Madrid Coach Zidane left many regulares on the bench to rest & gave goalkeeper Casilla, Carvajal, Nacho, Arbeloa,  Lucas Vázquez, James, Isco & Jese a run from the start.

Real Madrid did all the damage in the first 40 mins with goals from:
  • James Rodriguez, 4th min free kick , 1 - 0
  • Lucas Vazquez 17th min, 2 - 0
  • Cristiano Ronaldo 18th min, 3 - 0
  • Jese Rodriguez 38th min, 4 - 0
After the 4th goal Real Madrid began thinking more about their upcoming "do or die" game against Wolfsburg next Tuesday.

Good match from the non-starters like Lucas Vazquez & Jese for example, this last coming off later with a knock on the knee.

Spanish Football

RCD Espanyol hosted Atletico de Madrid & lost 1 - 3. Even match in the first half, but Atletico managed to pull away towards the end. Espanyol deserved more from this game as they offered good Football but the individual actions of the Atletico players was the key.

Espanyol got ahead first in the 28th min through Diop. But At Madrid reacted & drew through Fernando Torres in the 34th min. From here onward an even tussle until a non-existent (up to then) Griezmann transformed a Koke pass into goal in the 57th min. Koke later headed in the sealer for Atletico from a Torres pass in the 88th min.

Atletico de Madrid retains the 2º position of the Liga classification ladder.

La Liga Football

Another year & FC Barcelona crash at San Sebastian. The locals Real Sociedad defeated FC Barcelona 1 - 0 & in doing so put back the excitement into the Spanish Liga Championship. Now only 3 points separates Barça from second placed Atletico de Madrid, while Real Madrid is only 4 points away.

Real Sociedad scored the winner in the 5th min with a superb header from Oyarzabal. Barcelona attempted to equalize all match but the Real Sociedad defence withstood the attacks with an outstanding Sociedad goalkeeper Rulli who was decisive.

Excellent & needed victory for Real Sociedad, unfortunate loss for Barça which meets At. Madrid mid-week in the return Q-F Champions League decider.

Real Betis 1 (Ruben Castro 81st min) - Levante 0

LA LIGA | ROUND 30 SUNDAY RESULTS | SPANISH FOOTBALL

Spanish Football continued today with the remaining 4 Liga matches scheduled. Here are the final results along with the goalscorers.

Football Liga

RCD Espanyol defeated 2 - 1 Athletic Club Bilbao this midday. Important three points for Espanyol which is struggling at the bottom end of the Liga ladder. Bilbao went ahead first in the 19th min through Eraso, but Espanyol managed to equalize in the 53rd min through Diop. The winner for the home side came in the 56th min when Caicedo fired home.

FC Barcelona year 2016

Villarreal drew 2 - 2 with FC Barcelona & left the match someone upset with the referee decisions. The penalty to Neymar looked non-existent & Pique should have received a red card which was surprisingly not given.

FC Barcelona went ahead in the 19th min through Ratikic & later got a second with a "doubtful penalty" in the 40th min which Neymar scored. Villarreal put in a great second half to turn around the match with a goal from Bakambu in the 58th min & an own goal from Barça defender Mathieu

Villarreal upset, FC Barcelona maintains its 9 point difference on the Liga table with 2º placed Atletico Madrid. Next Liga game for FC Barcelona is Real Madrid in the "Clasico".

Soccer Spain Liga

Another disappointing result for Valencia losing 0 - 2 to Celta de Vigo at home. Goals from Guidetti in the 80th min & defender Hugo Mallo in the 85th min. The locals very angry with their players & with Coach Neville, putting ahead another couple of weeks of high tension. Explosive atmosphere at Valencia!

La Liga Spain

Real Madrid defeated 4 - 0 Sevilla FC. A match with plenty of opportunities & with two penalties missed: Gameiro for Sevilla & Cristiano Ronaldo for Madrid. Also some unfortunate decisions for both teams with a goal to Bale wrongly disallowed as was the Gameiro goal which was on-side. The other highlight was Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas who put in another grand exhibition with 3 - 4 extraordinary saves.

The goals came in this order:
  • Karim Benzema 6th min, 1 - 0
  • Cristiano Ronaldo 63rd , 2 - 0
  • Gareth Bale 65th min, 3 - 0
  • Jese 85th min, 4 - 0.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LIGA ROUND 29 SUNDAY RESULTS

Spanish Liga

Last placed on the Liga table Levante defeated 1 - 0 Valencia CF. Deserved win for the home side with goal from Rossi in the 64th min. A shocking match from Valencia with terrible defending & lack of effort from the whole team. Big internal crisis happening at the Club with Coach Neville certain to not continue next season. Valencia is falling apart.

Liga Soccer Spain

Sevilla FC down with 10 men (Banegas red card 80th min) defeated Villarreal 4 - 2 to keep their ambition of getting the coveted 4th place well alive. Entertaining game of Football with end to end stuff that was finally decided in the end by same details & one team standing more firmly than the other. Here is how the goals fell:

  • Bakambu 28th min, 1 - 1
  • Bakambu 38th min, 1 - 2

  • Sabin 34th min
  • Mikel Rico 44th min
  • Sabin 50th min.
Liga

Las Palmas pushed around & nearly surprised Real Madrid in tonight´s  game. However, failed chances, defensive mistakes & a superb Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas allowed the visitors to win 1 - 2.

Real Madrid left at home James, Danilo & Kroos thinking ahead for the competition that really only matters now for them: Champions League. The team was not sharp & had important defensive lapses. Las Palmas did not win because they did not capitalize their created opportunities &, lastly allowed Real Madrid to get the 3 points due to a defensive error at the end of the game.

Sergio Ramos (later sent off in the 89th min with a red card) opened the scoring in the 23rd min with a header. Las Palmas equalized after a horrendous passing mistake from Kovacic that allowed Willan Jose to score in the 86th min. However, a defensive mistake allowed Casemiro to score the winner with a corner header in the 88th min.

ROUND 29 MONDAY NIGHT MATCH:

Real Madrid Spanish Liga

Real Madrid defeated 4 - 2 Athletic Club Bilbao in an entertaining game of Football. Athletic Club kept to their attacking spirit even though they needed to come from behind on most occasions. The visitors were brave & left a very good impression even though they failed to leave with points.

The goals came in the following order:
  • Cristiano Ronaldo 2nd , 1 - 0
  • Eraso 9th min, 1 - 1

  • Kroos 45th min, 3 - 1
  • Cristiano Ronaldo, 80th min, 4 - 1
  • Elustondo, 89th min, 4 - 2
The match was blemished by a very poor referee who made some bad decisions. One of the many to note was the double yellow card to Rafael Varane for contesting headers. Both considered as "violent" with both being far from really dangerous. Real Madrid finished the latter part of the game with 10 men.

soccer spain

Villarreal keeps strong on the 4th position of the Spanish Liga classification table after defeating Malaga 1 - 0. The winner that secured the three points for Villarreal came in the 17th min through forward Roberto Soldado.

Valencia was very unhappy at the end of the game after the referee disallowed a goal by Alcacer that was not offside, this decision cost them the three points. However, they could not justify a victory as their Football did not accompany. Here are goals:
  • Jozabed 14th min, 0 - 1
  • Negredo 54th min, 1 - 1
  • Llorente 68th min, 1 -2
  • Paco Alcacer 87th min, 2 - 2.

Real Madrid did all the job in the 1º half in their game against Real Sporting de Gijon. After 45 mins Real Madrid was already up 5 - 0 , with goals from Bale in the 7th min, two from Cristiano Ronaldo - 10th & 17th min - & two from Benzema - 12th & 40th min.

In the 2º half Real Sporting set up a more defensive line-up & managed to keep out Real Madrid & score a consolation goal themselves through Isma Lopez in the 61st min.

The negative aspect for Real Madrid were the injuries to Gareth Bale - calf muscle - & Benzema. We have to wait to see what the medical team says in coming hours.

Final result 5 - 1

Spanish Football

Las Palmas hosted current Liga leaders Atletico de Madrid & were defeated 0 - 3. The scoreline perhaps was harsh as Las Palmas played well, but Atletico has only been scored 8 times all this season in Liga, with the best defence in European Football to date.

Up front, Atletico de Madrid was very effective with their chances with Antoine Griezmann again securing the victory with two goals - 67th & 89th min, while the opener came from defender Felipe Luis in the 10th min.

FC Barcelona steam rolled Athletic Club Bilbao 6 - 0. The 4th min red card to Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka did not help, but Barça was very superior throughout. HAT-TRICK to Luis Suarez, Neymar scored & gave assists & everyone happy at "Camp Nou". Barça meets Ath Bilbao in 4 days again for the Spanish Cup, & the question is, how must Bilbao be thinking & feeling?

Goals came in the following order:
  • Messi 7th min (penalty), 1 - 0
  • Neymar 31st min, 2 - 0
  • Suarez 47th min, 3 - 0
  • Ratikic 61st min, 4 - 0
  • Suarez 68th min, 5 - 0
  • Suarez 82nd min, 6 - 0

SPANISH FOOTBALL LEADING GOALSCORER & GOALKEEPER | HALF WAY MARK

Spanish Football & La Liga are half way through the 2015-2016 season with Round 19 & I thought that it may be a good moment to see which players are leading the classification tables for leading goalscorer & least goaled goalkeeper. As you may know in Spain the season Top Liga Goalscorer is called "El Pichichi" while the Best goalkeeper earns "El Zamora" title.

SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 15 SUNDAY RESULTS

Spanish Football action today with the remaining 4 games of Round 15 of La Liga scheduled. Here are all the final results along with the goalscorers.

Liga Spain

Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano lost to Malaga FC 1 - 2. Both Clubs need desperately points, but the loss of Rayo sends them momentarily into the bottom end of the Liga ladder. Rayo started well scoring first through Javi Guerra in the 5th min, but things then went down hill for them. Malaga equalized through Carles in the 58th min, then Cop got the winner in the 86th min.

Soccer Spain Liga

Eibar hosted Valencia CF & managed a 1 - 1 draw. Eibar will be unhappy as the equalizer came late in the 84th min & it was an own goal by Junca. Earlier in the 44th min Enrich put Eibar ahead & had Valencia controlled.

Valencia under new Coach Neville still looks "lost" & Neville himself commented that he knows he is only just an intern Coach until the Club finds another candidate. Not good times at Valencia where the problem could be more an "office" issue than "field".

La Liga Soccer Spain

Atletico de Madrid managed a suffered 2 - 1 victory over Athletic Club Bilbao. The win makes Atletico joint Liga leaders with FC Barcelona, important 3 points gained tonight.

Bilbao did not make things easy, they had their chances & had many times At. Madrid against the ropes. Ath. Bilbao got ahead first through Laporte in the 28th min. From here Atletico had to reach within & pull out team character & inner-team strength to overcome the determined visitors.

Saul equalized for Atletico de Madrid in the 46th min, & the winner came through an extraordinary goal from Griezmann in the 66th min that blew the roof off the stadium.

Surprise - or not surprise - result of Round 15, the 1 - 0 victory by Villarreal over Real Madrid. Missed opportunity for Real Madrid to catch up with current joint Liga leaders FC Barcelona & Atletico de Madrid, now 5 points away.

A loss that will shake again the Madrid Club & raise questions along with ongoing doubts. Fairly clear at Villarreal which had a game plan & stuck to it, with the prize coming early in the 7th min when Roberto Soldado scored. Villarreal have more opportunities in the 1 st half, but Real Madrid settled going into the 2º half.

From here, till the end, Real Madrid missed their opportunities & in Football if you forgive too much you lose.
