SPANISH FOOTBALL | LA LIGA ROUND 6 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

Spanish Football Liga action today with some top Round 6 matches scheduled which included the important Liga teams. Here are all the final results along with all the goalscorers.

Valencia CF & Granada opened Round 6 of La Liga with the Friday night match. Valencia managed a 1 - 0 final result victory over Granada & in the process gave some much needed oxygen to their Coach Nuno who is being heavily criticised from the supporters. During this game Nuno did not escape the whistling & the "go home & leave" shouting even though his team was in front. The fan base is not happy with the style of game & the lack of goal fire power from their team. Relief these coming days but tension in the air

The winning goal came in the 25th min when defender Mustafi headed for goal. 

FC Barcelona hosted Canary Is. Club Las Palmas & managed to forget last Liga Round loss to Celta de Vigo after defeating the vistors 2 - 1. However the game will be remembered for the injury to Lionel Messi who was taken off in the 10th min after a serious knock on his knee. The initial exploration suggest he may have the internal ligament affected & could be sidelined for the next 7 - 8 weeks, but there is serious worry that the damage could be more than diagnosed at this stage. Messi will undergo examination at the hospital over the coming hours & everyone is hoping that his ligaments are not further torn. If so, the injury could sideline Messi for more months.

Back to Football, Barcelona deserved to win as they dominated & created more goal chances. Luis Suarez scored the two goals - 25th min & 54th min - to seal things for Barça. Las Palmas managed a consolation goal in the 87th min through Jonathan Viera after a terrible defensive error from Mascherano.

Real Madrid failed to break open a perfectly defensively placed Malaga FC to draw 0 - 0 in their Liga game. Malaga FC tactically was flawless tonight along with their goalkeeper Kameni who stop everything shot at him by air & ground. 

Real Madrid created numerous opportunities at goal but was off target & sometime unlucky with their definition. Malaga was not daunted by the Real Madrid play & counter-attacked causing many problems for the Real Madrid defence & they too had their clear chances. In one of those occasions Real Madrid goalie Navas had to fly to push a ball away from a dangerous Malaga free kick.

Malaga FC lost Amrabat to a red card in the late part of the 2º half & with the visitors down to 10 men still Real Madrid could not break through. There was a "phantom goal" that Real Madrid may protest that was not given but the end result is a draw. 

Lastly, bad news for Real Madrid, the injury to the calf muscle of Jese who was carried off.

Villarreal have got off to a fantastic start to the season & tonight continued in their good Football ways defeating Atletico de Madrid 1 - 0. Villarreal have signed well & have pieced together a great balanced team with goalie Areola, defender Bailly (excellent tonight), Samuel, Soldado, Baptistao etc. It was precisely a Soldado pass to Baptistao (ex-Atletico) that gave the opener in the 14th min that later proved to be the winner.

Atletico de Madrid attempted to recover & find the equalizer, & nearly did with chances being neutralized by the firm Villarreal defence. Atletico de Madrid however look as if they are missing "a piece" with too many long balls tonight which may suggest they lack a player that connects between defence & attack. The squad seems skewed toewards too many forwards & not enough "creative-attacking" midfielders. Coach Simeone is "rotating" too much his forward & not allowing neither to settle & gain confidence.

In any case, a very deserved win to Villarreal. 

Sevilla FC hosted Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano & won in a "cliff-hanger" 3 - 2 after Rayo made a brave comeback. Entertaining match of Football with Sevilla FC hitting first with goals by Gameiro in the 22nd min & N´Zonzi in the 47th min.  

Rayo Vallecano then began their comeback with a fantastic free kick goal from Bebe in the 52nd min & later the equalizer from Javi Guerra in the 65th min. But the hero of the night for Sevilla would be Ukrainian signing Konoplyanka who converted a free kick in the 86th min into a goal to put ahead Sevilla FC & give the team a valuable & very needed victory with the 3 points.

Eibar 1 (Borja 3rd min) - Celta de Vigo 1 (Aspas 75th min) . With this draw, Celta misses the opportunity to lead the Spanish Liga table. Instead Villarreal currently sits at the top spot of the classification table after their victory tonight.
