Round 27 of La Liga - Spanish Football - continued today with the following matches, final results & goalscorers.
Almeria hosted Villarreal & at least managed to halt the progression of the visitors in Liga with the final 0 - 0 draw result. Both teams ended the match with 10 men & neutralized each other tactically. Almeria are the most disappointed as they need the points to stay away from relegation.
Malaga FC defeated Cordoba 2 - 0 & in doing so put a nail into the coffin of the visiting team. Cordoba has the possibility of relegation looking at them firmly in the eyes & today they sank a little more. The Malaga goals came through Juanmi in the 49th min & Amrabat in the 83rd min.
Fairly comfortable match for Sevilla FC which hosted Elche & won 3 - 0. Colombian forward Carlos Bacca scored two goals - 18th min penalty & 31st min - while team-mate Gameiro scored the third in the 81st min to seal things for the home side.
Real Madrid defeated Levante 2 - 0 in a relatively comfortable match that included 2 posts (Ronaldo & Benzema). Real Madrid gave Keylor Navas, Modric & Lucas Silva a start with Modric adding "swing & Football" to his team, especially the first 45 mins. Better performance from the home team as they looked to find lost sensations which they did during moments of the match.
Both goals from Gareth Bale, the first in the 18th min which was celebrated with certain anger perhaps from the recent criticism received from media & fans. The second goal was a rebound off a Cristiano Ronaldo shot in the 40th min.
Other highlights were the numerous close calls to Cristiano Ronaldo who was unlucky not to have scored, & a Benzema heel goal attempt that hit the woodwork, that if it had gone in would have been travelling around the World as the goal of the week.
Real Madrid is now 1 point behind Barça in second place on the Liga table & will meet next week in the "Clasico". Barça at this stage look favourite to take the clash, but Real Madrid has improved from the last couple disaster games.
Monday Round 27 scheduled match:
Granada - Real Sociedad
