Real Betis played on Friday night their wet-trenched match against Osasuna to win 2 - 1. Intense encounter under difficult climatic conditions Betis got ahead first with a Molina goal in the 19th min. Osasuna reacted & in doing so missed various chances until finally Silva equalized in the 74th min. However, the visitors were to pay dearly for missed occasions earlier when Ruben Castro got the winner for Betis in the 79th min.
Betis are in Euro table positions.
Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano took the wind out of the RCD Espanyol string on wins defeating the visitors 2 - 0. Rayo are having a great season & are up there on the ladder close to the Euro positions, something almost historical that the Club hopes to make reality. Chori Dominguez put Rayo ahead early in the 9th min & the second came late in the 77th min thanks to Piti.
Valladolid drew 1 -1 with Malaga FC in an intense game of Football. Malaga FC visited with their heads placed in their important mid-week Champions League clash with Porto, while Valladolid failed to take advantage of their opponents "daydreaming".
Malaga defender Demichelis headed the first goal in the 8th min, to see later Manucho equalize for Valladolid in the 41st min. Malaga FC rotated players in the 2º half & Valladolid could not finish off their chances. Just final result.
FC Barcelona hosted troubled bottom of the ladder Deportivo A Coruña. Barça won 2 - 0 & dominated the whole match but only managed two hard to come by goals. Barça had its mind clearly focused on the upcoming mid-week Champions League clash against AC Milan were its is possible they could be eliminated. Lionel Messi, Iniesta & Alba did not start, but later the first two names had to come on to solve the match.
The first half was a Barça one way street with Villa missing goals until Alexis got onto a Alves pass to put Barça ahead in the 38th min. Deportivo thought that the best would be to limit the possible damage & defended well waiting for their opportunity. So well was Deportivo limiting the damage that Barça brought on Messi & Iniesta to find alternatives. After some hard work Lionel Messi broke through with an extraordinary chip over the keeper goal that brought the teams 2ºnd goal in the 87th min. Again Messi to the rescue.
Three points for Barça but not convincing in the goal efficiency department. It is obvious that the habitual speed & up front finishing is lacking this part of the season & will be seriously tested next Tuesday against AC Milan.
Real Mallorca with a great Giovani won Sevilla FC 2 - 0 & get their second win in a row. This lifts hopes at the Club that may be they will be able to get themselves out of the dangerous relegation zone of the classification table.
Along with Mallorca midfieler Giovani, Alfaro was great tonight with his two goals - 16th & 66th min - for Mallorca. Sevilla managed a goal from Alvaro Negredo in the 61 st min. Sevilla FC can´t shake off their irregular playing character this season.
