Spanish International & Chelsea FC forward Fernando Torres is simply not playing up to the expectations that motivated Chelsea owner Abramovich to put up 57M€ on January 2011 to sign from Liverpool FC. According to the English Press - "Express" - the Premier League Club is willing to listen to offers & sell the Spanish Football Player at a loss if needed. The price could be as low as 17M€ according to local media observers which highlights the extend of the discontent.
Torres is so out of the "groove" that he has not scored since the 23rd of Decembre 2012, to give a wider picture of the players situation, the Chelsea striker has scored 15 goals from 47 games at an average rate of 0.32. The numbers are depressing for any observer, Coach, Club owner & must be for the player himself which is undergoing perhaps the greatest slump of his whole Sporting career. The European & World Champion has even seen how his place on the Spanish National Team has been given to others who are simply performing much better.
Under this scenario & with a possible transfer price as low as 17M€, Russian Club Anzhi has shown interest, but Spanish Football Club Atletico de Madrid could be the viable option. The once "mast head & flying flag" of Atletico de Madrid could become an important piece in a possible Falcao operation. The current Colombian International & Atletico forward Radamel Falcao is sounding more & more as a Chelsea FC target. To lower the 50M€ plus transfer fee the English Club could offer the ex-Atletico de Madrid Captain Torres.
Timid news out of the Madrid Club is that Atletico does not look negatively at the idea & may seriously consider welcoming back the "prodigal son". A return "home" away from the severe pressure of English Football may well be the remedy needed by Fernando for his "goal drought" & loss of confidence that the player is experiencing.
As with most stories of this calibre at this stage of the season, it is pure speculation & rumour, but worth following & keeping an eye on for future developments. Stay tuned!
