SEVILLA FC drew 0 - 0 against MALAGA in a "Southern Spain" derby that showed more than anything else that Sevilla is not firing on all pistons. Kaka celebrates after scoring for Real Madrid |
REAL MADRID keep chasing & maintain the seven point ladder gap with Barça after winning 4 - 1 REAL SOCIEDAD in an entertaining match that saw some signs of improvement & Cristiano Ronaldo back scoring in his "particular" one on one competition with Messi to be the Spanish League leading scorer.
Some intersting notes from the start, Ramos did not play due to suspension (in Garay), Marcelo was back & gave Real Madrid attacking pace, Lass was in for Khadira & put in a great performance, Kaka started & Adebayor started with Benzema on the bench. This last point could turn to be habitual as Adebayor is showing he is adapting quickly, is sharp, provides a reference point up front & scores.
Things got off to a flying start for the home side with KAKA scoring in the 7th min & also showing signs of slowly recovering pace & form - in the 2nd half he hit the cross-bar. Then CRISTIANO RONALDO began his quest to score goals & keep pace with Messi & scored in the 20th min & again with a header from an Ozil corner in the 42nd min.
Adebayor scored & is adapting well at Real Madrid |
The 2nd half saw more chances come Real Madrid´s way with Ronaldo , Adebayor, Kaka & Ozil ( disallowed goal for off-side) all having opportunities, but it was a Real Sociedad attack & a defensive lapse that allowed Sociedad forward Tamudo to shot in the 71st min to have the ball deviate off Real defender ARBELOA for an own goal. Then in the 88th min, ADEBAYOR received a Di Maria pass ( came on 2º half) to shot pass Sociedad goalie & notch up his second goal in as many games.
Aduriz scores for Valencia |
VALENCIA CF give serious chase to third placed Villareal with their 2 - 0 victory over HERCULES tonight at home. A Valencia side with clear ideas & an inspired ADURIZ who scored in the 43rd min to open the Hercules "can", followed by a majestic TINO COSTA free-kick goal in the 52nd min to put things in their place. Special mention tonight to Valencia Argentine midfielder BENEGAS who dominated the center & was the motor of his team.
