movement again between REAL MADRID & LIVERPOOL FC in the
tight negotiations for Spanish International midfielder XABI
ALONSO. Two pieces of news – if true – give a small glimpse of
hope; that Liverpool FC is willing to lower the transfer price
from 48M€ to 35M€ & most importantly that Xabi Alonso has
personally asked his current Coach Rafael Benitez to allow him
to leave. The player wishes to depart Liverpool after 5 seasons
& the personal relationship with his Coach is “non-existent” after
Benitez put on the market Alonso last season for 20M€ that didn’t
turn out as wished & Alonso saw himself eventually staying on.

This may sound hopeful, but the same news source cite that Real
Madrid is not willing to move an inch from its last offer of 27M€.
SFS would like to repeat – as a side analysis - what most Football
experts here have commented that Xabi Alonso is the final missing
piece. The planned "new" Real Madrid line-up needs a
midfielder/distributor in order to make the side work with the
particular players that they now have onboard. Alonso is one of
very few players in European Football with the specific
characteristics needed to make it all work, thus this makes him a
vital piece that needs to be incorporated at all cost.
If all the news above is correct, SFS sees no reason for Real Madrid
to keep staying firm & immovable on 27M€, this time a 35M€
pay-out may well be totally justified as they risk losing the
opportunity of finally acquiring the most important player for their
particular team jigsaw if they tense too hard the wire. Having said
this, SFS is sure that Real Madrid still think that they can negotiate
the price down further without risking losing Alonso; the Real Madrid
Directives are the experts, this is obvious.
Stay tuned, as this continues. One suspects correctly that Real
Madrid knows that Xabi Alonso is there most important objective
& that Liverpool FC also knows it. The pressure that the player can
exercise on his Coach will be important & it seems he is pressuring.
To be continued...
PS. Another existing obstacle of importance in all this is that
Rafael Benitez & Real Madrid Director General Jorge Valdano
don’t get on well. This goes back to the times Valdano was Coach
of Real Madrid & Benitez Coach of the junior sides. Benitez still
holds a personal grudge against Valdano & this isn’t making
things smooth.
