According to speculation by Italian & Spanish media the operation
may have cost around 5M€.
Emerson, who came to Real Madrid from Juventus & under the advise
of Fabio Capello, has never really adapted himself to Spanish Football
or to the city of Madrid. The Brazilian has been criticised for his
performance & has always been controversial. The Italian team grabs
a "bargain" as Real bought Emerson originally for 11M€.

I agree with you that this is a bargain for AC Milan. I think Emerson should be more comfortable playing in Serie A and this is a good move on his behalf.
I'm a little disapointed that he went to Ac, though not disapointed at all to see him go. He never really meshed with the team at Madrid, constantly shdowing Diarra and never really having a meaningful effect on the matches he played. However, I heard a rumour that Inter was going to try to bid for him, possibly throwing Adriano into the deal as well, which seemed like a more tempting offer than what we settled for from AC. But whatever. Even though Madrid needs a more defensivly aggresive mid-field, Emerson just wasn't the guy.
Well he was instrumental in beating Barca at home last season, which arguably won us the league.
