The Spanish National Team could not train last night at the "Toumba
Salonica Staduim" ( home of PAOK) due to the terrible state of the
ground that the Spaniards found themselves.

So terrible was the aspect of the turf that it may put tonights GREECE
vs SPAIN friendly International in danger of being suspended. Not only
is the Football not practicable, it puts players in danger of being seriously
injuried. Spanish player Pernia comented, "...I have never seen this in the
whole of my professional carreer as a Football player".

Although Greek authorities insist that Club PAOK promised optimum
conditions & that the ground is playable, the reality is totally different.
Its a sad incident that gives Greece & Greek Football a poor image
Internationally. Unfortunately people may misinterprete that Spain will
play against a 3º world nation, instead of the European Champions. It
is simply disgrateful & shows a lack of respect towards the Spanish
national side.

Both Football Authorities are currently looking for solutions & alternatives
so as the game can go ahead safely.

SFS imagines that solutions will be found & the game will be played, thus
allowing the following possible line-ups to be on the field at kick off time:
