Spanish Football´s National League returns in full force
this weekend with it´s usual combinations of fantastic
matches. I could have picked any of the 000s of pictures
available but I have picked these two. Why?
1. I´m an Atletico de Madrid follower & it´s been a
while that I have´nt put a pic on the site.
2. If Osasuna win Real Madrid they will overtake Real 3rd
spot & further push them into crisis.
3.We´ve seen plenty of Barça & Seville pics this week.

Atletico de Madrid have to keep winning if they wish to get
into the UEFA zone, & to help do that,they recover the
Argentine MAXI RODRIGUEZ - ( pictured) from Injury.
Good News!
They play Mallorca at home - Vicente Calderon - & they must
keep under control a Mallorca side low in the classification &
desperate to stay in 1º Division. It won´t be easy for Atletico.

The "revelation team" of the season - my opinion - Osasuna
(pictured) have a great chance to scale positions & put
a nail into Real Madrid, thus being one of the matches of
the round not only for it´s football content but for the
possible collateral damage that an Osasuna win can do.

But as with "La Liga" all matches are great , as we have a
Galician Derby between Deportivo & Celta, which is
traditionally a very tough & fought affair. We are sure to see
sparks fly in this encounter.

Argentine 17 yr old AGUERO ( Pictured) for 8 seasons
from Independiente. Villareal was on his trail, but
Atletico managed to secure his signature. This adds to
other signings:Rosicky( from Borrusia Dortmund) &
Pernia(from Getafe). By the way, they say this young
gentlemen cost Atletico 23,000,000€ - woffffff!.Obviously
their thinking of him as a long term investment.

2. Because this weekend we have MotoGP from Istambul
3. His about to race his 100th GP race & 4. he is on the way
to overtake Spanish motorbike leyend ANGEL NIETO overall

he has equalled Doohan´s ( 54 GP victories) & if you add his
125cc, 250cc victories he has 80, just 10 away from Nieto.
The overall record holder is Italian leyend Agostini with
122 victories. Our Riders Baptista, Barbera, Lorenzo,Elias, Sete
& Pedrosa will all be giving their best as well.

















This guy is on a winning streak.Rafael Nadal is playing in the
Barcelona Open Seat 2006 tournament & has qualified for
the quarters, meeting Fin Jarkko Nieminen. He´s reached
44 straightwins on clay & is 2 games away from equalling
Bjorn Borg´s record of 46. He could do it this weekend!

retirement from Tennis. He won the French Open &

& will respectively face CSKA Moscow & Maccabi Tel Aviv.

another Spanish team Portland San Antonio in the 2 leg of
their European Cup Final. Cuidad Real won 19 - 25 the 1st
leg & take a 6 point advantage into this match.

SEVILLE FC - SCHALKE 04: SEVILLE MAKES HISTORY & REACHES THE UEFA CUP FINAL

Seville FC has added another chapter in Spanish Football
History by reaching the Final of the UEFA Cup after
defeating 1-0 German side Schalke 04 in extra time.

The match was a heart attack affair with action at both
ends of the pitch. There was plenty of chances for both
teams & after 90mins of normal time the deadlock could
only be broken with extra time , & broken it was
when Seville player PUERTA scored a "cracker" in the
100min that shook the stadium. From then on Schalke 04
went all out & was continuosly stopped by Seville keeper
PALOP with some increible saves.

Its only an opinion, but I believe Palop has earned - or
at least should be considered - for a spot in the National
squad for the upcoming World Cup.Absolutely superb
tonight! He has finally come of age.

Seville will now meet English team Middlesbrough, after
they too had a wonderful match defeating Steaua 4-2.

UEFA CUP 2º LEG SEMI FINAL. SEVILLE - SCHALKE 04

Spanish Football & Seville FC have another date
with Football History tonight as they play German
side Schalke 04 in the 2º leg of their semi final
qualifier for the UEFA Cup final.
The 1º leg finished in a 0-0 draw & Seville wishes
to win tonight in this arena below - Ramón Sanchez
Pizjuan - in Seville & make history by getting into
the final for the 1st time in it´s 101 years as a club.
Schalke 04 will do everything possible to stop that
dream & qualify themselves.












A very ragged match is assured. Schalke 04 are a very
pyschically strong side, typical German side with strengh
& endurance to put the wind out of any team.
Seville will have the advantage of the home ground &
crowd to spur them on & give them the fighting spirit
that they will no doubt need.

REAL MADRID. RESIGNATIONS & CRISIS

The news broke as Barça qualified
for the Final of the European Cup.

Recently appointed President of
Real Madrid - Fernando Martin -
was forced to resign & call elections
for the 2º of July. The sum of 15
directives voted ( against 1) for
him to get out, & appointed inturn
President Luis Gomez Montejano -
oldest member.

This highlights the real story behind the scenes - pls read my
earlier article: "Real Madrid:Welcome to the Matrix" - link
April - to get another angle of what´s going on. Mr Martin will
now present himself as candidate & so will 2 time Rally World
Champ Carlos Sainz, amongst others. It´s going to be a real
dirty & back stabbing campaign, I feel this blood draining
will do a lot of damage in the short term to the club.

This complicates things in the Sporting field. Real Madrid is
currently in a fierce battle to secure the 2ºplace in the national
competition. Bad news, bad environment, bad motivation &
negative psychological punch. If they dont finish 2º Real will have
to say NO to the International summer tours as to not risk in the
pre-qualifying stages of Champions. Big loss of $$$ here.

Big damage to the Real Madrid image Internationally. Will Thierry
Henry really want to play here? Will Carlo Ancelloti - who gave his
OK to come to Real with Martin - decide to stay at Milan now?
Real Madrid has lost that Nº1, glamour & "galatic" look, its more
like an astoride out of control.

Perhaps this man below, should present himself & see if he can
use his influence to get Real Madrid back on track.














But I believe that even his holiness does´nt want to even think
about it, as even his friend does not want to get involved.

Finally , Inter Milan Brazilian Striker Adriano, wishes to sign
for Real Madrid & play next season. His price 9.000.000€/year
after taxes. Thats more than Real´s highest paid players:

BARCELONA - MILAN. THE AWAY GOAL WAS ENOUGH

Barcelona has qualified for the Final of the Champions
League aka European Cup in Paris, were it will meet
English side Arsenal. It is 12 years last since Barcelona
played a European Cup Final were they beat Italian
Club Sampdoria at Wembley with a goal from Koeman.
It was becoming an inhouse obsession for them &
tonight the dream has repeated itself thanks to the
valuable away goal scored in the 1º leg by Guily.

It was a typical match between two great clubs. Both had
chances to score but the cautious & vigilante Barcelona
managed to keep the game at the pace it wanted, although
at times the built up nerves & pressure swayed the balance
of play towards Milan. Ronaldinho was a "bit" quieter tonight
but did enough, while other teammates like Guily, Deco, Iñiesta,
Pujoy, Eto´o all put in to assure that Milan did´nt score.

This man, Kaka gave his all, specially dangerous in the 1st half, it
was´nt enough. The highlight for Milan was a disallowed goal to
Schevchenko in the 2º half , that honestly,I do not know why
it was disallowed. Milan may have an arguement here that the referee
was harsh with them, but this is Football & Barcelona deserved
overall to win. Special mention as well to a tireless Clarence Seedorf,
who ran all night.

NEWS FLASH - Latest!!!
Real Madrid´s President Fernando Martin has resigned after
tonights Directives meeting. It seems that Top level power
battles have done the job, & there will be elections this summer.
Bad news for the team as it is battling for the 2º place in the
national competition.
WILL ANCELOTTI NOW NOT GO TO REAL MADRID? Remember
the deal was done with Fernando Martin, if he is no longer the
President?
Was Zidane smart & got out just in time?

BARCELONA - MILAN: FROM HERE TO PARIS

Tonight Barcelona & Milan play the 2º leg of the last 1/2
Final of the Euro Champions League.
Barcelona have the away goal advantage & the home
advantage with 100.000 local fans pushing them on.

What more can I say that 000s of journos & fellow
bloggers have not said? It´s going to be a great
match? Tough? Barcelona are favourites? Milan
must score early? Barça must not allow the Italians to
score? Attacking , counter-attacks, 4-3-3 or 4-3-3-1?

What I can say with some certainty is that Ronaldinho
& Schevchenko will be vital for their respective teams.

Ronaldinho not only drives & motivates his team, he
keeps the opposition so concentrated on stopping his
play that they forget to play, & this will help Barça
keep control of the game & ease some pressure.

But if this man, forgets about his opponents & plays his
way & scores, it will put pressure & spread the nervious
"disease" across his opponents, & we all know that
Schev & Milan begin to grow into a deadly "monster".

I´m worried folks! I see via the media & comments a
certain over-confidence existing at Barça. I perceive
a relaxed rhythm, too many smiles at Camp Barça.
I simply don´t trust Milan, it´s a very experienced &
tough team, its important to never underestimate them.

I am experiencing the hunch that this match will have
nothing to do with the Villareal - Arsenal match, we
maybe in for a surprise. Let´s hope my Nostradamus
style predictions are wrong & Barcelona gets its Paris

VILLAREAL - ARSENAL : THE SINKING OF THE YELLOW SUBMARINE

It´s a cliche I know; the Gunners sink the Yellow
Submarine:but the truth is Villareal sank themselves.

THE IRON LAW OF FOOTBALL: if you don´t take your
chances you LOSE! That´s what happened tonight in
the 2º leg of the 1/2 Finals of the Champions League.

The result 0-0, Arsenal winning 1-0 overall & getting
it´s ticket directly into the Paris Final











The match was competitive & intense, the midfield was
difficult to control. Arsenal was tight in defense & Villareal
went all out to score, & they did well at it, keeping the ball
much longer than the Gunners, but you NEED TO SCORE
when the chances appear & Villareal failed in this area.

But everyone will remember the penalty given to
Villareal in the 89min. I saw Riquelme tense &
nervious the weight of history was too heavy for
his shoulders & history squashed him & Villareal ,
as Arsenal´s goalkeeper Lehmann stopped the
penalty assuring his side take the semi final.

Football is cruel & specially in finals. Let´s not
blame Riquelme because if his team would have
taken the opportunities earlier, he would´nt have
been under so much pressure. It´s happened to
all the greats Raul ( World Cup), Shevchenko
(Euro Cup Final)... etc., it is simply the way this
wonderful game is ...ITS FOOTBALL.

VILLAREAL - ARSENAL : FROM HERE TO THE FINAL

1/2 FINALS - VILLAREAL vs ARSENAL .

Tonight we will know who will be the first team to reach
the Final of the European Cup in Paris. English Premiere
League team ARSENAL has travelled to play VILLAREAL
in the 2º leg match.
Arsenal have a gol advantage, & Villareal must assure that

Spaniards must score at least 1 ( go into extra-time ) or 2
to win & pass to the final. It is a difficult task but they are
hoping that the home advantage/crowd will give them wings

will be able to break the tight marking that Arsenal no doubt
will place on them.

& Bakero took over ( ex Barcelona & Sports Manager) as coach
- it was a serious moment. Bakero went after Gonzalez
to give Sociedad some spice up front & WOW!!. Mark is scoring
nearly every match.

What a "revelation" folks , keep his name in your agenda!

The bottom end of the ladder is getting tough for
some clubs on the verge of saying goodbye to 1º

give the Spanish Football Federation a head-ache to find a
day to repeat this match, as the schedule is super tight as
it is.

TENNIS: RAFAEL NADAL THE KING OF CLAY

Rafael Nadal regained the Monte Carlo Masters title defeating World Nº1
& Top seed Roger Federer in the Final in 4 sets : 6-2 6-7 6-3 7-6 ,
in an epic 3 hours & 49 min match between the two best players in the
world at this moment. Nadal is proving to be a thorn in Federer side as
the new kid in the block threatens his reign at the top of world tennis.

Its the 42 straight win on clay for the 19 year old Spaniard & his 2 title
this season; the other being Dubai & again defeating Federer.

Nadal is becoming the hottest thing - if not already- on the tennis scene
& this has placed him as hot favourite for the French Open. He is without
doubt the KING of Clay courts right now.

Lastly, Spanish Women´s tennis got a boost today as the Spanish Team

Prix.Michael Schumacher dominanted & kept out
an attacking Alonso during the last 20 laps.

I am imagining Ferrari President saying .."boys I
don´t mind losing all the rest of the races, but
if you lose this one on home turf , you´ll all be
fired"...It explains the excellent team result;
without taking anything away from the "Kaiser"
who´s a great driver & a racing legend.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE MAY ANNOUNCE RETIREMENT NEXT WEDNESDAY

The French "magician" Zinedine
Zidane may announce his
retirement from professional
football next Wednesday,
coinciding with the important
Directives meeting of
President & his board.

His won:
3 FIFA Best World Player
1 Gold Ball (Balon de Oro)
1 World Cup ( for now!)
1 European Nations Cup
1 European Cup
1 InterContinental
1 Italian League
1 Spanish League
....etc. Sure I have left
one more out.


Real Madrid fans have just 2 home matches left to enjoy the
magic, while all Spaniards have 2 more away game more.
He will finish in grand style later , playing with the French
national team in the Germany World Cup, after that the
magic will disappear.

So next Wednesday will be a big day for Real Madrid. Firstly,
the President maybe forced to call elections for this summer.
Secondly, to give him the edge, he may announce the signing
of Thierry Henry (?). Lastly, Zidane could announce goodbye
to all the media.

I just hope that Zidane is given the full honours if he decides
to call it quits.Real Madrid has on occasion seen some greats go
without getting from the club that "special touch" & thankyou
they deserve. Hope the calling of elections by Fernando Martin
(President) & the directive political power fighting afterwards
DOES NOT overshadow the end of a brilliant carreer from one of

that they´re being used again, this time by another
Brazilian. Is there truth to all the rumours, is this man
really unhappy?

Or is it another bag of propaganda & tactics by
managers, coaches , teams , Presidents, media...&
all the other members of the Football machine?

Finally, would you want a player in your team with
this character,with a yes today no tomorrow loyalty?
Do contracts matter?
There´s no doubt that there is talent, skill & goals
in the man, but what if he gets unhappy again?
The Spanish fans don´t love me again, the coach puts
me on the bench again?

SPANISH SPORTSMEN DOING WELL WORLDWIDE

Looks like our Spanish sportsman are doing well
in their respective areas, & seeing this blog is
about Spanish Football & Sports they deserve
a mention:
.Barcelona, Seville & relatively speaking
Villareal in Euro Football.

.Pau Gasol in NBA Basketball - Memphis Grizzlies(USA)
& these 2 blokes below:
Fernando Alonso in Formula1
Rafael Nadal in Tennis.
They are currently in competition, one with a race this
Sunday & the other attempting to qualify for a final.

Current Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso has push out
the "Kaiser" in the last lap,to take 1st position in todays 2 practice
sessions. There´s been a lot of talk this week about Renault giving
Fisichella a newer more powerful engine over Alonso, that Renault
was pulling resources away due to Alonso going to McLaren next
session & that Ferrari was to go all out to stop Renault on home
turf - Imola is Ferrari territory.
But Fernando has proved that he is in fine form & he is´nt letting
the circumstances get to him - real Champion grit!
Tomorrow there is another practice session & then the qualifying.
We will give you those details tomorrow.

Talking about Champs , how about this guy!
Rafael Nadal has defeated Guillermo Coria
6-2 6-1 to get into the semi finals of the
Monte Carlo Masters. There he will meet
Argentine Gaston Gaudio to see who reaches
this Sundays Final.
Nadal is playing on his preferred surface,
were he slides around like a panther,
bewildering his opponents with his speed.
If all goes well , we maybe be given
another treat with a Federer vs Nadal
final.

PREVIEW OF THIS WEEKEND SPANISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE - ROUND 34

We are coming into the final finish
to this seasons "LIGA" with 4 more rounds
left to play. Have picked these 3 team logos:
Valencia, Real Madrid & Osasuna - because
there is a real battle to secure the converted
2º Euro Cup place - Barcelona has secured
the 1º spot - & few points separate these 3 teams.

Added to the tension between the above
mentioned teams, if any rest on their laurels,
they may lose their spot to fast moving Seville
or Celta. So there´s plenty to play for at the
top of the ladder.

team do I follow - answer - ATLETICO DE MADRID.
Currently 9th with 47points, the team is trying
to salvage the season by at least getting into
UEFA Cup positions & that is 6 points away.
They MUST win this weekend if they are to keep
that hope alive - & they have to do that without
Kezman & "THE KID" Fernando Torres. Having said that, Atletico
have Maxi Rodriguez back & lets give a chance to Manu Sería who

SEVILLE FC MAKE SPANISH FOOTBALL PROUD

Firstly thanks to Spanish sports daily AS for the great pics,
you can link from here if you wish for more in Spanish.
Secondly, Seville FC has made us all proud with a gutsy,
never say never attitude, that almost gave them the
winning edge. The 1º leg of the UEFA Cup semis ended in
a tight fought draw, leaving the 2º leg in Seville to
be the decider.

Schalke 04 are a very tough
bunch of dudes showing why
they are 4th in the Bundesliga.
Typical German side with powerful
players & non stop running
midfielders.This gave Seville´s
performance more merit as they
never took a backseat in this
strong clash of contenders.

But the name to highlight is
Seville Goalkeeper ANDRES
PALOP, superb performance,
Best Player in my opinion for
Seville & possibly the match.
If Seville manage to win in the 2º leg & pass to the final, it
will be thanks to the performance of this man in this match -
all guts!

Great performance, an example other Spanish Clubs should
take note of when they find themselves under similiar
circumstances: away, underdogs, hostile crowd & powerful
opponents. Spanish Football should be proud tonight folks,
