SPANISH CUP - COPA DEL REY - RESULTS WEDNESDAY MATCHES

Four Spanish Cup - Copa del Rey - 1ºst leg games scheduled tonight with the following final results - scores & all the goalscorers.

Madrid 2º Division Club - & "big Club Killer - Alcorcon won RCD Espanyol 1 - 0. Terrible game from Espanyol which was way below its habitual First Division level, while Alcorcon put in a great performance & could have scored more in the second half. The Alcorcon goal came in the 71st min from Pacheco.

Troubled Real Betis won 1 - 0 Athletic Club Bilbao because they were more effective with their chances. Bilbao missed numerous opportunities of goal & were punished when Ruben Castro made his grand return with a 41 st min goal & winner. In fact Betis could have scored another goal had forward Cedric not failed a "sitter" that they are still talking about in the City of Seville on how the hell someone can miss a chance presented in that fashion. 

FC Barcelona won Madrid Club Getafe 4 - 0 & the match also served from the return of Lionel Messi after injury with the last 20 minutes of play & with two goal included. Relatively worked match for Barça, not easy up to the 75th min,  as Getafe were not dawned on & always looked for at least an anyway goal. The visitors had their chances but they were not able to capitalise & Barça goalie Pinto also kept Getafe out.

But Barça deserved the victory with an excellent night from Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Iniesta & company. Cesc Fabregas scored first in the 9th min & he later got a second with a 63rd min penalty. Getafe suffered from their psychical efforts towards the end of the match & allowed Barça to finish off the match with a fresh Messi wanting to prove things scoring in the 89th min & the 93rd min. Barça virtually has the tie in the bag.

Heated encounter at Racing de Santander with the Club in deep financial problems & players with missed payments. There were crowd incidents towards Club Directives in the stands while on the field Racing drew 1 - 1 with Almeria with comeback included. The goals came in the 25th min from Corona for Almeria & Racing drew thanks to Concha in the 65th min.

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LIGA | ROUND 26 SATURDAY GAMES RESULTS

The big Real Madrid & FC Barcelona match this afternoon has dominated Spanish Football & Round 26 of La Liga, but there have been other games played. Here are all the final scores & the goalscorers.

Madrid Club Getafe played Real Zaragoza on Friday night. The home team won 2 - 0 & put a nail into the Zaragoza coffin. This does not mean that the Club is doomed to relegate but they are firmly heading that way if Zaragoza cannot change its Football ways. Getafe on the other-hand jump up closer to European classification positions with the three points.

The goals came from Colunga in the 21st min from a Pedro Leon pass & Escudero scored a free-kick that come off a Zaragoza defender in the 60th min.

A Club in worst situation than Zaragoza is Deportivo A Coruña which managed luckily a 0 - 0 draw with Madrid Club Rayo Vallecano. Deportivo lost defender Marchena to a red card in the second half & suffered to keep out Rayo Vallecano which let off the hook Deportivo missing some clear chances. Deportivo are currently last on the Spanish League classification table & in dire straits.

The Osasuna game against Athletic Club Bilbao was being built up all week with some aggressive statements between Clubs. These matches are traditionally hard fought out encounters as "regional" proximity increases the rivalry.

Osasuna lost 0 - 1 to Bilbao because they failed to convert their numerous chances. They dominated the match from start to finish but sinned with inaccuracy in the face of the opposition goal. On the other-hand Bilbao which was not convincing took their chance & Susaeta scored in the 63 rd min & against all context. 

Regional ( Valencia ) derby between Valencia CF & Levante that finished in a 2 - 2 draw. Excellent match supported by an enthusiastic atmosphere. Levante got ahead first via Iborra in the 16th min & was answered with an equalizer in the 27th min from Jonas.

Interchanging stuff thereafter with intense Football that was broken when Valencia forward Soldado scored an incredible goal in the 48th min. It seemed Valencia had it in the bag but Levante equalized in the 88th min thanks to Bakero. Valencia then had a chance to win it at the end but Feghouli missed his opportunity. Shared points.

SPANISH FOOTBALL - LEAGUE ROUND 21 SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL continued today with five top games in Round 21 of the SPANISH LEAGUE. Here is a brief summary of the matches, with all the scorers & with the final results.

Martins for Granada

REAL BETIS lost 1 - 2 to GRANADA with the latter having their new Coach Abel debut with victory. The fact was that it was a competitive match fought out between two Clubs from Southern Spain with certain rivalry.  Granada got ahead in the 12th min via IGHALO & maintained the rhythm with MARTINS scoring a second in the 39th min.  The second half was palyed hard & Betis was rewarded with a goal in the 81st min via PEREIRA to which Granada held firm until the end. 

R.Sociedad

REAL SOCIEDAD hosted REAL SPORTING DE GIJON & sent the latter into further "troubles" defeating the visitors 5 - 1. Real Sociedad caught Sporting asleep with two rapid goals by ZURUTUZA ( 2nd & 3rd min). The player would latter get his nose broken in an aerial battle with Gijon player Gregory.

Sporting reacted timidly & scored in the 46th min via DE LAS CUEVAS, but that would be all for Gijon. Real Sociedad finished the visitors off with goals from ELUSTANDO (76th min), ARANBURU (91st min) & GUZMAN ( 93rd min)

Guiza for Getafe

LEVANTE lost 1 - 2 to Madrid Club GETAFE. The home side was unlucky in this match, as Getafe took their chances & scored. The goals for Getafe came via GUIZA in the 32nd min & D.CASTRO in the 82nd min. Levante scored their only goal via RUBEN SUAREZ in the 91st min via a penalty that cost Getafe defender Lopo a red card.

Racing - Valencia CF

This match will be remembered as the "Battle of El Sardinero" ( Sardinero name of the Racing stadium). The final result between RACING DE SANTANDER & VALENCIA CF ended in a 2 - 2 draw. There was goals, body to body contact, posts & plenty of heated moments as the home side was playing more for its Liga future.

The home side got ahead via ADRIAN in the 2nd min & the "battle continued" thereafter. Valencia scored twice via ADURIZ to equalize (66th min) & then to get themselves ahead (79th min). But it was not over as Racing equalized in the 88th min via BERNARDO, & Racing missed a "sitter" in the last seconds that could have given them the victoty. In the end, shared points & some bruises.

Toulalan for Malaga in action

Southern Spain derby between MALAGA FC & SEVILLA FC with the home Club winning relatively comfortably 2 -1. The loss by Sevilla keeps their "bad streak" in "La Liga" in motion. The goals for Malaga came via WELINGTON in the 7th min,  & later Sevilla player  LUNA equalized in the 15th min. But Malaga reacted quickly & got back ahead in the 19th min via SEBAS. From here the game got stuck in the midfield with Malaga Frenchman & midfielder TOULALAN doing a wonderful job for his team in stopping the Sevilla creative play-makers & thus halting any progression, & the midfield "battle" gave 13 yellow cards. There were the odd occasions & chances to both sides, but Malaga looked comfortable & did all the real hard work in the first half. Malaga player Isco saw a red card in the 78th min after a hard tackle on Sevilla forward Negredo.

SPAIN 2 GERMANY 2 | FEMALE 2013 SWEDEN EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS

SPANISH FOOTBALL is not all about our male players, there is the other sex which has performed merits that gets front page news & well deserved. The Spanish National Female Team managed a "histroric" 2 - 2 draw against Germany. Why historical?

Lets have a quick look at the German record to date: 7 x European & 2 x World Champions. When it comes to Female World Football,  Germany is up there with Brazil & the USA.

Spain Female National Team

The Spanish Female Team is currently in the Group 2 qualifying process for the 2013 Sweden Female European Championships. The Spaniards actually lead the Group & will again play Germany next year at their home turf , a difficult match indeed, but not impossible. Congrats to our girls!

SPANISH FOOTBALL - THIAGO ALCANTARA | THE AWAITED BAPTISM

A marked day for SPANISH FOOTBALL & for FC Barcelona young sensation THIAGO Alcantara. Tonight the Spanish National Football Team plays an official Group qualifying match against LIECHTENSTEIN & a win basically assures the current European Champions a place in next years edition.

But its also a big day for THIAGO. If the youngster manages to start in tonight's official International match,  or gets a run,  he would have sworn allegiance (  Football wise ) to the RED. As it is known the Brazilian Football Federation is also interested in having the young player start in an official match with them. But Thiago has his mind ( & heart ) set on playing for Spain.

Therefore two reasons to tune into tonight's Euro qualifier:
1. To watch Spain play & see if they can manage the victory
2. See if young Thiago gets a start or run.


In both cases SPANISH FOOTBALL wins.

SPANISH FOOTBALL 2011 - 2012 | SPANISH LEAGUE - LIGA ROUND 2 RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL - Soccer - kicked off this weekend with Round 2 of LA LIGA - last week players striker moves Round 1 to another future date - with nine games of the Spanish League. Was great  to see the Football relaxing with a weekend break, but I am also glad to be back & posting up some results for the regular readers.

EURO 2012 GROUP I - SPAIN HINTS AT STARTING 11 AGAINST THE CZECH REPUBLIC

There is European Football action tomorrow & Saturday with Euro 2012 Group qualifiers & the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM & current FIFA World Champions in action. Their first scheduled encounter is tomorrow night in the magical Spanish city of Granada & against the fellow Group I squad of the CZECH REPUBLIC

David Villa & Fernando Torres

The Spain squad under Coach Vicente Del Bosque has been training in their headquarters at Madrid these last couple of days & we may already have a hint at the possible starting 11. Del Bosque has been practicing with block of 11 players repeatedly which has alerted Football media who follow & are close to the National team & players. This is how the SPAIN FOOTBALL TEAM starting 11 may look this Saturday against the Czech Republic:

Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Capdevila; Xavi, Busquets, Xabi; Iniesta, Torres & Villa*

This is still speculation & may change

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos moves into a Central defender position to cover the absence of Carles Puyol & Chelsea FC forward Fernando Torres looks like he may start, although this is were there are some doubts. The inside observers can’t confirm 100% that Torres will be finally chosen as the central striker although he has been part of the 11 bock that has practiced tactics & strategy during training.

Spain continues with its Euro 2012 Group qualifiers after the Czech Rep. with a mid – week match against Lithuania.
