TWO SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAMS MAKE IT INTO THE EUROPA LEAGUE 2011 - 2012

Two SPANISH FOOTBALL Clubs will go into tomorrows EUROPA LEAGUE 2011 - 2012 Groups draw after the preliminary games were played tonight. ATHLETIC DE BILBAO went straight through without playing their 2º leg against Turkish side Trabzonspor which was lifted into Champions League taking the place of suspended fellow Turkish Club Fernanbache for match fixing.

The other Club through was ATLETICO DE MADRID which took a 2 - 0 advantage to Portugal & to VITORIA GUIMARAES to finish winning tonights game 4 - 0 ( 6-0 agg). Excellent match from the Spaniards who dominated & gave a good exhibition.

GABI opened proceedings with a penalty in the 2nd min, followed by two goals from ADRIAN in the 17th & 58th min, with SALVIO scoring the 4th goal in the 80th min. The result could have been more for Atletico as they missed many more chances.

Sevilla FC Europa League 2011 elimination

The bad news for Spanish Football was the elimination of SEVILLA FC which drew at home 1 - 1 to German Club HANNOVER which came into this match with a 2 - 1 1ºst leg advantage, thus Hannover winning & going through 2 -3 on aggregate.

Fierce stuff at Sevilla as Hannover put a shock into the local team with a 24th min goal from ABDELLAOUE for the Germans. From here it was all desperate play & unlucky missed chances - including posts - for the Spaniards. Sevilla FC managed the draw in the 37th min when German POGATETZ put in an own goal.

From here it was a nail bitter with chances to both sides with Sevilla growing with frustration as they saw time pass & their qualifying chances diminish. The frustration was so high that at the end Sevilla player MEDAL was sent off with a Red Card in the 90th min. End result, eliminated.

SPANISH FOOTBALL CLUBS RESULTS | EUROPA LEAGUE PRE-QUALIFIERS

Three Spanish Football Clubs participated tonight in the 1st leg of the EUROPA LEAGUE pre-qualifiers with mixed results. Here is a very quick & brief summary of results.

Sevilla 2011

SEVILLA FC travelled to Germany to play HANNOVER & lost 2 - 1. The goals all came in the first 45 mins with German player SCHALANDRAFF scoring twice in the 6th & 45th min , while Sevilla managed a valuable away goal via KANOUTE in the 38th min. The tie is still wide open with Sevilla having the opportunity to seal things at home next Thursday.

Spanish Football Club ATHLETIC DE BILBAO drew at home 0 - 0 against Turkish Club TRABZONSPOR. Bilbao dominated the whole game & had many, many opportunities to score goals but failed to do so, & with the Turks down to 10 men early when Yilmez was sent off. Now off to Istambul to fix things,  if they can.

At.Madrid, Thiago 2011

Good news here all-round as ATLETICO DE MADRID defeated  2 - 0 Portuguese Club VITORIA GUIMARAES, plus announced the signing of Oporto players FALCAO & MICAEL, with the latter going on loan to Real Zaragoza this season.

The action happened when Brazilian midfielder ELIAS came on for Salvio in the latter part of the 2º half & scored two goals, both in the 67th & 71st min. This give Atletico a healthy margin to travel to Portugal next week.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - EUROPA LEAGUE PRE-QUALIFIERS DRAW | SPANISH FOOTBALL TEAMS

The Football Gods smiled on Spanish Football Club VILLAREAL in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE pre-qualifier match-ups drawn today at UEFA headquaters. The Spanish Club could have landed powerful Clubs like Ruben Kazan, Udinese, Arsenal etc , but was drawn with relatively less powerful ( but no less dangerous ) ODENSE BK from Denmark

The 1º leg match will be in Denmark on the 17th of August, with the return 2º leg in Spain on the 23rd of August.

Also held at the UEFA headquaters was the draw for the EUROPA LAEGUE play-offs to be held the 18th of August with the 1º leg match & the 2º leg return game on the 25th of August. Three Spanish Football Teams were present & the final outcome was the following match-ups:

  • Atletico de Madrid - Vitoria SC (Portugal)
  • Hannover (Germany) - Sevilla FC
  • Trabzonspor (Turkey ) - Athletic de Bilbao
From here we wish all the Spanish Football Clubs in action all the best of luck!

ATLETICO DE MADRID DEFEATS 0 - 2 STROMSGODSET ( 1 - 4 AGG) IN EUROPA LEAGUE PRE-QUALIFIER

SPANISH FOOTBALL Club ATLETICO DE MADRID visited Norway for their preliminary 2º leg qualifying match of the Europa League against STROMSGODSET & won 0 - 2 ( 1- 4 agg) to go into tomorrows UEFA draw to await who will be the next rival in the play-off phase. That is, Atletico still has to jump this "last hurdle" before they can say they will be in Europe next season.

Spanish Football player Adrian scores for Atletico

Atletico managed to overcome the artificial grass & a vibrant home crowd to play a relatively comfortable game, were the locals had multiple chances but failed to convert. Special mention to JOEL the young Atletico de Madrid goalkeeper who worked hard & the defence that managed to keep out the Nords & their continued attempts & attacks.

The goals came via ADRIAN in the 12th min from a precision Reyes pass, & then in the last minute REYES himself received a pin-point Forlan pass which he converted for the Spanish teams second.

Atletico done its homework tonight & now awaits to see who is next on their road to Europe.

ATLETICO DE MADRID 2 - STORMGODSET 1 | EUROPA LEAGUE PRE-QUALIFIER 1º LEG RESULT

SPANISH FOOTBALL action in full & serious swing tonight as ATLETICO DE MADRID attempts to qualify for the Europa League by overcoming the pre-qualifiers that then gives the team access to the last step which is the end of August play-off. The Spanish Football Team met Norwegian Club STORMGODSET & managed to win the 1º leg match 2 - 1.

Not a result to be too happy with as the Norwegians just need to score a goal at home in the 2º leg to qualify. But the game tonight showed that Atletico is by far the superior team & this should keep hopes high. The game from the Atletico perspective had positives & negatives,  & to be honest to the Spanish team they still more training to find the extra spark that the team lacked tonight.

Spanish Football
José Antonio Reyes for Atletico de Madrid

Atletico need a midfielder that is creative & can pull rabbits out of the hat, although new signing from Zaragoza GABI did a fine job working hard for the team. There is a huge hole upfront left open by the departure of Sergio Aguero that Diego Forlan & new signing Adrian did their best to fill & attempt to make forget the Argentine. Special mention to ADRIAN who looks good, played well, was unlucky not to score & show signs of being a class act. It was he who set up with some magical lay-offs JOSE ANTONIO REYES who scored both the Spanish spectacular goals in the 53rd & 73rd min.

Then a mental lapse that was costly for the Spaniards & allowed the Norwegians back in a game were they were totally shut out. Firstly , new Atletico Brazilian defender MIRANDA received a harsh red card in the 76th min, this forced Atletico to make a tactical change & while defender Perea was running on , the Nords took the ball,  & advantage of the players watching the change,  to score their only goal in the 79th min via STORFLOR. Bad mistake, almost amateur as the whole Atletico team took their minds off the play during the change.

Atletico attempted to make up for their mistake but their 10 men disadvantage & tiredness halted their efforts. Now its time to look forward, analyse , train hard & attempt to secure the 2º  leg game at Norway.

ATLETICO DE MADRID MATCHED WITH STROMSGODSET OF NORWAY | PRE - EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFIER

Spanish Football & Atletico de Madrid has a starting date with the new Football - Soccer season & the Europa League pre-qualifiers after the draw was held this afternoon at UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland). Atletico will meet Norway Club Stromsgodset in the third round of the pre - qualifying phase. The first away date is the 28th of July at Madrid with the return the 4th of August at Norway.

An unknown team for Atletico de Madrid, & I must say for most Spanish Football followers. This makes the Norweign team particularly dangerous & Atletico must not under-estimate them at any moment, especially so early in the new season.

Good luck to both Clubs.
