CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULT | OPORTO 1 - MALAGA FC 0

Champions League tonight with Spanish Football Club MALAGA FC visiting OPORTO in the away 1º leg match in the last 16 phase of the European competition. Given that Malaga had a very bad night things could have been worst & the final 1 - 0 result to the Portuguese leaves it all wide open for the return leg.   

Deserved victory for Oporto which pressured all night Malaga to stop them playing comfortably the ball. The midfield was owned by the locals & this frustrated all game the Spaniards who could not get it flowing at all. Regular stars like Isco was a shadow tonight.

The winner came in the 56th min when MOUTINHO - my man of the match - sneaked through the Malaga defence while they watched an excellent passed ball from the left wing brush them all. The video would later show that it looked very much like off-side but the goal stood & it was to be become the winner.

Malaga will leave unhappy, their game was very poor, but as mentioned above this tie isn't decided & that means there is still a chance & hope.

ATLETICO DE MADRID SIGNS CRISTIAN RODRIGUEZ OF OPORTO

SPANISH FOOTBALL Club ATLETICO DE MADRID has announced via its Web that the Club has signed 26 year old Uruguayan International & OPORTO forward/winger CRISTIANO RODRIGUEZ.

The player comes with an Italian passport & what is more important , free of transfer fee as his contract with Oporto ends this season. Rodriguez will sign a contract for the next four seasons after his duties with the Uruguayan squad are done. Uruguay has World Cup 2014 qualifiers against Venezuela & Peru.

Welcome to Spanish Football Mr. Rodriguez.

ATLETICO DE MADRID - FALCAO DEAL CLOSE ( WITH A KINDER SURPRISE)

Here is the closest hint that OPORTO & Colombian International player FALCAO is about to land at ATLETICO DE MADRID. The Portuguese Club which finances itself via the Portugal Stock Exchange has just informed the local financial authorities that they have a 45M€ offer from Atletico for Falcao - & here is the surprise - along with his fellow team-mate midfielder MICAEL. The latter apparently is an Oporto demand for the Falcao transfer. That,  or, both mentioned players just happen to belong to Football representative Jorge Mendes ( Ronaldo, Mourinho, Centrao, Pepe...) & there is a slight smell of extra business in the air.

Personally I think it is an exaggeration to pay 35M€ for Falcao & 10M€ for the Portuguese International midfielder Micael who is a substitute in the Oporto squad. Having said this , Atletico does need a creative midfielder & with Brazilian Diego of Wolfsburg getting complicated & messy one supposes that the Spanish Football Club sees it all as a solution.

Therefore , stay tuned for the official Club announcements - if nothing goes wrong - in the next hours or days. 

Falcao

Staying with Atletico another rumoured transfer possibility OSVALDO from RCD ESPANYOL has gone cold again with AC ROMA returning as firm candidates, while DIEGO FORLAN does not wish to move from Atletico UNTIL he gets his 4M€ which is owned to him by the Club.

Lastly, while I´m posting & it has nothing to do with Atletico, Spanish Football Club GETAFE has announced the signing of ex Spanish International & FERNANBACHE forward DANI GUIZA.


LATEST: Its official FALCAO signs for Atletico de Madrid for 40M€ + Micael 5M€ (will be loaned to Zaragoza) . Crazy & inflated prices if you ask me, makes me wonder who takes the  commissions...no it doesn't really...

OPORTO 0 SEVILLA 1 | SEVILLA FC ELIMINATED FROM THE EUROPA LEAGUE

SEVILLA FC was always going to find things very difficult at Portugal after losing 1 - 2 in the 1º leg of their EUROPA LEAGUE clash with OPORTO. Tonight they managed to win the 2º leg match against Oporto 0 - 1 but was eliminated. The away leg result was not enough for the Spanish Club & leave the competition with their heads high although that won´t matter much now with the elimination so fresh & recent. 

Sevilla FC - Oporto Europa League

It was a very even & hard battled match which saw the only goal by Sevilla FC player LUIS FABIANO arrive in the 71st min. Oporto player Pereira received a red card in the 73rd min & then Sevilla defender Alexis received a red card in the 78th . With 10 men each the game was open with spaces & it was end to end stuff with Sevilla having chances to score more goals. Said this, Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas had lots of work to do stopping Oporto on various occasions.

A balanced game with the damage really done on Sevilla in the 1º leg game & a result that was extremely difficult to turn around.
