RCD Espanyol defeated 2 - 1 Athletic Club Bilbao this midday. Important three points for Espanyol which is struggling at the bottom end of the Liga ladder. Bilbao went ahead first in the 19th min through Eraso, but Espanyol managed to equalize in the 53rd min through Diop. The winner for the home side came in the 56th min when Caicedo fired home.
Villarreal drew 2 - 2 with FC Barcelona & left the match someone upset with the referee decisions. The penalty to Neymar looked non-existent & Pique should have received a red card which was surprisingly not given.
FC Barcelona went ahead in the 19th min through Ratikic & later got a second with a "doubtful penalty" in the 40th min which Neymar scored. Villarreal put in a great second half to turn around the match with a goal from Bakambu in the 58th min & an own goal from Barça defender Mathieu.
Villarreal upset, FC Barcelona maintains its 9 point difference on the Liga table with 2º placed Atletico Madrid. Next Liga game for FC Barcelona is Real Madrid in the "Clasico".
Another disappointing result for Valencia losing 0 - 2 to Celta de Vigo at home. Goals from Guidetti in the 80th min & defender Hugo Mallo in the 85th min. The locals very angry with their players & with Coach Neville, putting ahead another couple of weeks of high tension. Explosive atmosphere at Valencia!
Real Madrid defeated 4 - 0 Sevilla FC. A match with plenty of opportunities & with two penalties missed: Gameiro for Sevilla & Cristiano Ronaldo for Madrid. Also some unfortunate decisions for both teams with a goal to Bale wrongly disallowed as was the Gameiro goal which was on-side. The other highlight was Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas who put in another grand exhibition with 3 - 4 extraordinary saves.
The goals came in this order:
- Karim Benzema 6th min, 1 - 0
- Cristiano Ronaldo 63rd , 2 - 0
- Gareth Bale 65th min, 3 - 0
- Jese 85th min, 4 - 0.
