FC Barcelona travelled to Germany to play Bayern Leverkusen, the latter needing a win to contemplate moving into the next stage of Champions. Barça had top spot secured & gave a chance to start younger players. The final result of this Group E game was a 1 - 1 draw, with Bayern Leverkusen playing better & missing numerous occasions in front of goal. Barça goalie Ter Stegen also played his part saving for his team on various occasions.
The opener came from Messi in the 19th min & Chicharito equalized in the 23rd min for the Germans
Valencia CF needed a small miracle to continue in Champions but were defeated 0 - 2 by Lyon in their Group H match. New Valencia Coach Gary Neville learnt from first hand that he has a a job to do at Valencia to make them competitive at this level at least.
The two goals for Lyon came through Cornet in the 37th min & Lacazette in the 77th min. Disappointment at Valencia after not living up to European expectations.
