Spanish Football action today with Round 4 Liga games scheduled. Here are all the final results along with the goalscorers.
Round 4 of La Liga kicked off with the Friday night match between Madrid Club Getafe & Malaga FC. The final result was 1 - 0 to Getafe after a 1st min goal from Scepovic. Malaga FC attempted thereafter to make amends but has problems upfront finishing off the created opportunities. Malaga player Duda missed a clear chance in the 82nd min which could have given a draw.
Real Madrid hosted Granada & was pushed all match to finally manage a 1 - 0 victory.Granada surprised with their brave attacking attitude & field placement.Real Madrid was not sharp today & was sloppy at times throughout the match.
The game was clearly skewed the way of Granada & they created the most dangerous occasions in the first half. Here the Granada players sinned in not defining 100% their chances at goal. Plus Real Madrid goalie Keylor Navas had his part stopping a couple. Summarized, Real Madrid were being pushed around in their own ground & even put on the ropes by the visitors. So much so, that the referee mistakenly disallowed a legit goal by El-Arabi that could have changed things.
It was not until the 59th min that a Isco cross found Karim Benzema who headed their goal to at least cut the "haemorrhage" (lucky as Isco was offside & thus should not have been given). Granada at this stage, & with the earlier efforts were not as rapid but continued to cause Real Madrid problems. Granada forward El-Arabi was a menace all match & had his clear chances, along with winger Success who was also very active. The other Granada player to mention is Andres Fernandez, the goalkeeper made more than half a dozen saves which kept Real Madrid from racing away with the match & kept his team with high moral & with winning spirit.
Conclusion, if Granada had been more accurate with goal they could have won this game. They deserved too.
Valencia CF drew 0 - 0 with a 10 man Real Betis upsetting the local fans & a part of the crowd calling for the exit of Coach Nuno. Rough moments at Valencia which has problems upfront in converting their opportunities into goals.
The first half Valencia created some good chances that Feghouli - best player - failed to convert. This allowed Betis to grow in confidence & ex-Valencia (now Real Betis) Joaquin began to rip the home defence. Things halted for Betis when defender Ceballos was given a red card leaving his team with 10 men in the 47th min. What later angered the local supporters was the lack of clear ideas from their team & not capitalizing on the one man less advantage to score & take the points.
End result, shared points & a difficult week ahead in Valencia CF.
Eibar hosted Atletico de Madrid in a competitive & fought out matched that the visitors solved taking it their way in the 2º half winning 0 - 2.
At.Madrid started with Vietto, Martinez & Griezmann upfront, but it was Angel Correa (on for Vietto) & Fernando Torres (on for Martinez) who took Atletico de Madrid onward to victory with their combinations & goals each.
A very physical match with Eibar standing firm & proving sticky. At.Madrid dominated the match but was not able to pass the home side defence. At.Madrid Coach Simeone brought on Correa & Torres in the 2º half to add new ideas & it paid off. Angel Correa scored a beautifully executed goal from a Torres pass in the 62nd min to break the stalemate. Later Correa returned the favour to Fernando Torres finding him with a pass to which Torres chipped over the Eibar goalie for his teams 2º goal of the night in the 78th min.
Three points to Atletico!
Real Sociedad 2 (Agirretxe 19m, Jonathas 87th min) - RCD Espanyol 3 (Gerard 44th (pen.), E.Roco 71st min, Hernan Perez 90th min)
Real Sociedad was down with 10 men after losing their goalie in the 43rd min.
