Atletico de Madrid hosted Real Sociedad with the home side needing a win to keep the third place of the Liga ladder under control. They did just that winning 2 - 0 in relative comfortable fashion while neutralizing the occasional opportunities the visitors managed to create during the 90 minutes.
The damage to Real Sociedad was done early in the first half with the Atletico set pieces again in action. Arda Turan gave an early warning hitting the post in the 2nd min, with the opener coming in the 3rd min when Koke placed a free kick into the goal square that Real Sociedad defender Mikel Gonzalez headed for an own goal. Soon after Atletico scored the second when Griezmann scooped up a loose ball in the square in the 9th min.
From here onwards Atletico de Madrid exchanged opportunities with Real Sociedad. In the visitors case Atletico de Madrid goalie Oblak was always there to make the important saves, & they were a few.
Eibar hosted Malaga FC & managed a vital victory & the three points in their battle for Liga permanency. Eibar won 1 - 0 under controversial circumstances as the winning 52nd min goal by Arruabarrena came shortly after the referee considered there was no penalty in favour of Malaga FC. Game got crazy towards the end with numerous occasions but Eibar held firm. Eibar wins again 11 Rounds (games) later!
Levante lost 1 - 2 to Sevilla FC with the visitors putting in an excellent 1ºst half which gave them two goals: Gameiro in the 11th min & Reyes in the 39th min. However, Levante turned things around in the 73rd min with an Uche goal which made Sevilla FC wake-up & react. Sevilla regained control of the match & could have scored more.
