All speculation points at German International & Borussia Dortmund player Gundogan as the Real Madrid target & the Xabi Alonso replacement if the latter decides to leave. Local Spanish Football observers & Real Madrid insiders have the "feeling" that Alonso will not renew his contract with Real Madrid & will leave at the end of the season due to personal reasons. Borussia Dortmund player Gundogan has been sounding for months with rumours of a preferential option for Real Madrid including a pre-verbal agreement.
The players father has commented & verified an "intense" interest from Real Madrid but has added that until his son recovers from his back injury & returns to the playing fields there will be no negotiations. However, there are clues that lead some to believe that things are already on the rails. Gundogan has not accepted a contract renewal offer from his Club & insiders talk of an acceleration these last days with talks.
Real Madrid has only one concern, the back injury of Gundogan. The player has been side-lined for months & one does not know how he will return. Although common sense would suggest that the recovering will be complete & will return to his habitual form.
