Spanish 2º B Division Club Sant Andreu hosted the current Spanish Cup Champions & Liga Club Atletico de Madrid & lost 0 - 4. The visitors were as intense & firm as if this was a Liga match due to the competitive philosophy of Coach Simeone. The goals came in the following order:
- Raul Garcia 13th min
- Arda Turan 20th min from a great Oliver pass
- Arda Turan 55th min, fabulous worked
- David Villa 84th min, came on as substitute
Girona hosted Madrid Club Getafe & drew 1 - 1. The goals came in the first half with Girona striking first with a beautiful free-kick from Timor in the 16th min which was equalized by a great overhead by Getafe player Alfaro. The second half was conservative & it seemed both sides called it a trace to leave things to be defined in the return match.
Spanish Cup match between two Liga Clubs, Celta de Vigo & Athletic Club Bilbao with Celta winning 1 - 0 . Even most match, fought out as one would expect & with chances created by both sides that had goalkeepers working hard. However, it was Celta which managed to effectively convert their chance into a goal, a winner that came in the 71st min from Santi Mire. The tie is still wide open with Bilbao looking to do things better at home in the second leg game.
Olimpic Xativa is in the Spanish 2º B Division & hosted tonight Real Madrid to keep the visitors under control & manage a 0 - 0 final result. Real Madrid kept on the bench Modric, Benzema & Marcelo, with Xabi Alonso, Bale & Cristino Roanldo at home, however the youngsters Morata, Jese & Casemiro did not grab their chance to voice their candidacy for more Football playing time. In fact, the whole Real Madrid team was way below the level expected as Xativa showed them a good example of a motivated, organized & intense Football Team.
Di Maria who is rumoured to soon be on his way to Monaco, played & was substituted with clear signs of anger when taken off which will lead to some talk & he may have "forced" his exit - although Real Madrid say Di Maria is not going anywhere ( nor is Morata while on departing issues) . Sad way to act from a professional who weeks back was an example of Club dedication. How quickly things change in Football.
Real Madrid Coach Ancelotti was "forced" to bring on Marcelo, Benzema & Modric to attempt to lift the team & find some creative innovation as the team was flat, stale & ordinary. There were some chances in the second half to score but lame in result.
Great match from Xativa they will be over the moon & the tie goes over to the "Santiago Bernabeu Stadium" for a solution where we believe Real Madrid will "clean things up" & make up for their poor performance tonight.
Recreativo de Huelva hosted Liga Club Levante & gave the surprise by winning 1 - 0 with a late 89th min header goal from Ruyman which gives Recreativo the advantage in this particular tie. A tie still wide open.
