Tottenham Hotspurs 24 year old player Gareth Bale still is grabbing headlines on Spanish Sports papers. Most are contradictory, in that he will not be leaving his Club this season while others insist that players wishes to transfer to Real Madrid.
The Welshman is definitely the signing objective of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez but not at any price.
Today local media publish that Tottenham Hotspurs will only sit down to discuss a possible transfer with a starting price of 120M€, a record figure, as it surpasses by far the 96M€ paid by Real Madrid to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo. Clearly a signal from Tottenham to Real Madrid that their star player is "out of bounds". The London Club is said also to be offering Bale a salary raise from 4.5M€ to 9M€ to convince his stay while Directives also wish that Bale stay at least another season to help the Club get into Champions League.
Tottenham Coach Villas-Boas insists the player is not moving & local Football personalities like ex Coach Harry Redknapp believes that player will stay as well. But Real Madrid has a "wild-card" up their sleeve, Argentine International Di Maria.
Real Madrid will be willing to go as far as 80M€ plus include their winger Di Maria in the operation. The Argentine is liked at the Club & by Coach Villas-Boas & could be the "natural" replacement for Bale if he were to leave.
What is clear at this stage is that "nothing is clear" with Bale. There is wide consensus that negotiations between Tottenham & Real Madrid will got to the wire, to the last day of transfers operations which is the 31st of August.
Stay tuned!
